Hyundai expanded its crossover lineup with the first generation of its popular Kona all the way back in 2017. After seven years, and one N Variant, Hyundai's Kona entered its second generation for the '24 model year. This second-gen Kona carries over the powertrains from the first-generation, but holistically revamped interior and exterior styling, and added a hefty amount of consumer tech. Joining the updates for the latest Kona is Hyundai's massive media and driver display, and a column shifter. Powering the gas-burning Kona is either a 2.0-liter I4 in base SE and SEL models or the turbocharged 1.6-liter I4 in N-Line and Limited variants. The 2.0-liter sends 147 hp and 132 lb-ft of torque through a CVT, whereas the turbocharged 1.6-liter mill sends 190 hp and 195 lb-ft of torque through an eight-speed automatic. On this episode of Quick Spin, host Wesley Wren hops behind the wheel of the '24 Hyundai Kona N-Line and puts it through its paces. Wren takes you on a guided tour of the latest Kona and highlights some of his favorite features. Later, Wren takes you along for a live drive review. Adding to these segments, Wren chats with Autoweek's Patrick Carone about the Hyundai Kona, where the Kona sits in the market, and about the first-generation Kona's spectacular N model. Closing the show, the pair break down what makes the '24 Hyundai Kona special.

Benjamin and Sami jump into action this week to discuss two polar opposites in the automotive industry. First up Benjamin tests the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD. This big bruiser of a pickup truck has a price that needs hauling, but is the equipment and experience worth it? Benjamin has plenty of stories from his time with the heavy duty truck as well as an important conclusion about these big ole pickups. Then Sami tests out the 2024 Hyundai Kona N-Line which has undergone a complete transformation for this year. Gone are the awkward lines and lame interiors and in their place is a sleek, high tech look with plenty of features. The old Kona was already one of the best in the segment, will these changes push it over the top? The guys wrap things up with an answer to a listener question about EVs before signing off for the week. Thanks for listening!
In this episode we talk with New England Motor Press VP George Kennedy about the NY Auto Show, the all new Nissan Ariya, Larz Anderson Auto Museum publication Upshift and the Hyundai N-line on products.

If you're looking for an inexpensive electric vehicle, the Hyundai Kona should be on your list. And if you're looking for an inexpensive performance car, the Hyundai Kona should be on your list. With that in mind, this week, we road test both the 2023 Hyundai Kona EV and the 2023 Hyundai Kona N. Which is better? Which suits your needs? We have some surprising conclusions coming up for you in this edition of America on the Road. Foxconn, the company that makes iPhones, is looking for a partner to begin building electric cars, but it hasn't found one yet. According to auto industry analysts, time is getting short. Will the postponement of the Apple car prove costly to Apple's chief supplier? We'll have details and our thoughts on this multi-billion dollar issue coming up. Also in the news this week, Tesla has slashed prices, then raised them in a frenzy of pricing actions globally. The net in the United States for its two high-volume models is lower prices than the prices available at the start of the year. Will that be enough to pull Tesla from its recent funk? We'll have more on that coming up. The Inflation Act passed last summer was widely seen as a giant boon to union workers in America. But recent analysis shows that most of the jobs it could create will go to non-union workers. We'll chat about those unintended consequences in the news. Our terrific guest for you this week is Frank Hanley, senior director of auto benchmarking at J.D. Power. If you want to know what cars, trucks, minivans, and SUVs are the most dependable, he is the guy to talk to. He and Host Jack Nerad will discuss the just-released 2023 J.D. Power Vehicle Dependability Study, and we think you'll find the interview useful to you.
This episode is bananas! Actually, Chris and Charlie just eat bananas. Kinda. Also they talk about some bananas cars, including the 2023 Jaguar F-Type R Coupe and Hyundai Kona N, two cars that they were very sad to see leave DM HQ. However, they quickly forgot their sadness, as these two sporty cars were replaced with two just as sporty: The 2023 BMW M3 Competition xDrive 50 Jahre and the 2023 Hyundai Elantra N with the 6-speed manual! Toss in some rants and some crappy cars (and a nose bleed from Charie), and you've got a classic Daily Motor Podcast. Don't have BMW or Porsche money but want a performance machine that satisfies the driving enthusiast in you? Hyundai offers up the Kona N to scratch that itch. More power, bigger brakes, adjustable dumpers, an electronic limited slip differential and much more make it a blast to pilot. Tom Voelk looks at a loaded Kona N with 8-speed transmission because it's the only way you can get one.
Vacations are great, but not when they mess up the podcast scheduling! Today's episode consists of Charlie and Chris trying to find nice things to say about the BMW X3 M Competition and trying to find mean things to say about the Hyundai Kona N. They also had the Ford Mustang Mach 1, which had good and bad elements. This week is exciting because they're driving the new Ford Bronco Raptor and the Hyundai Ioniq 5! Oh, and the Infiniti Q60. Whoa now, are you looking for more automotive shenanigans and blabber? Then you came to the right place, as Sami and Benjamin are eager to share their thoughts on the latest happenings in the automotive industry. First Benjamin talks about the 2022 Hyundai Kona N, a high-performance, yet front-wheel-drive crossover that may have spelled doom for the first Hyunda N product. Hear how a capital-E enthusiast like Ben feels about a FWD, automatic-only performance car, and then take a trip back in time with him to when weird spicy crossovers were all the rage. Then flyboy Sami talks about his bizarre mission from Europe, where he tested out the not-for-America 2023 Mazda CX-60. The CX-60 features the same platform and powertrain of the upcoming CX-90, just in a smaller package, so now Sami and you, our odeal listener, have an idea of what's going on behind the doors at Mazda. It's easy to forget that this automaker worked on such wild ideas as the compression ignition engine, rotary engine and DEF-less diesel engine, so what can go wrong with another weird change of pace? Benjamin also provides an interesting update on his Grand Wagoneer, and explains why he won't be towing with it anytime soon. For more fun stuff like this weeks episode, head on over to unnamedautomotivepodcast.com, or engage with our guys (@huntingbenjamin and @Sami_HA) on your favorite social media platform."
In today's chaotic episode, Chris and Charlie try to tell you about their week with the BMW i4 eDrive40, Ford F-150 Lightning, and Audi RS3 while navigating a food drop and a bloody noise. Also, they come up with a brilliant idea for Harley Davidson and Ford, and Chris has a keen prediction for Stellantis cars. Next week they drive the Ford Mustang Mach 1, BMW X3 M Competition, and Hyundai Kona N. Enjoy!Support this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/daily-motor-podcast/donations
Small cars are out. Cladding and ground clearance is in. Small crossovers are chipping away at the once-beloved hatchback market and are shoving some hot hatchbacks out of the US market. Naturally, automakers will look at the changing tides and try to respond. While performance crossovers are far from new, the Hyundai Kona N takes a look at the small crossover and the future of the hot hatchback. Based on Hyundai's popular Kona, the 2022 Hyundai Kona N takes the pedestrian crossover and turns it into an over-the-top fun machine. Borrowing the performance parts from the Hyundai Veloster N, the Kona N sports a 2.0-liter turbocharged I4 that sends 276 hp and 289 lb-ft of torque through an eight-speed automatic transmission. That power travels exclusively to the front wheels. On this episode of Quick Spin, host Wesley Wren hops behind the wheel of the 2022 Kona N to put it through its paces. Wren takes you around the hopped-up Hyundai and highlights the features and styling before taking you along for a live-recorded drive review. Adding to this, Wren chats with Autoweek's west coast editor Mark Vaughn about Hyundai's Kona, hot hatchbacks and more. Closing the show, the two talk about what makes this Hyundai Kona N special.

Et ass just ee Buschtaf, mee dee mécht de groussen Ennerscheed. Bei Hyundai steet den N net nëmme fir d'Heemecht Namyang, mee och fir den Nürburgring wou déi sportlech Varianten ofgestëmmt ginn. Ob dat beim neie Kona N gelongen ass an ob en d'Blutt vun engem Petrolhead un d'Kache bréng kann, dat seet eis de Paul Origer no sengem Test.
Benjamin discusses his go around in the 2022 Hyundai Kona N-Line, a crossover that strives to be the median point beween the standard Kona and the speedy Kona N. Hyundai is trying to follow the path of the German M Sports and AMG Lines, but is the Kona N-Line a successful push in the right direction? Is this just a style and attitude package, a weak echo of the Pontiac Trans Am Firehawk? Sami then chimes in with his recent experience in two compact hatchbacks. A dying breed, the 2022 Honda Civic Hatchback and the Canada-only 2022 Kia Forte5 GT are both available with manual transmissions. Sami seems to think the hatchback styling of these cars stray too close to the sedan variants, and that cars like these are slowly losing their relevance to crossovers. Finally, the duo discuss high-performanc driving techniques and how they apply to driving in the snow. Listen now to get the whole scoop, and don't forget to subscribe and review.
