Born & Raised in Southern Oklahoma, Adara Kay found her grit and rock energy the first time she stepped on stage in 2018. Since then, she has perfected a high energy performance that watchers will remember down the road. She's been able to not only share the stage with other independent artists, but she's also been able to introduce new songwriters from other states into the Oklahoma music scene. Influenced by Country & Rock artists like Koe Wetzel, Giovannie & The Hired Guns, The Wight Lighters, Larkin Poe, Dorothy, and more, Adara Kay was inspired to put her spin on the genres to create a sense of freedom, carefree, and badass affirmations for all to appreciate. Not only has she opened for Casey Donahew, Sundance Head, and Jackson Taylor & the Sinners, but she's also opened up for Austin Meade, Them Dirty Roses, and Cam Allen, not including the many festivals including Calf Fry, Outside City Limits, Top of OK Jam, Old Bolivar Songwriting Festival, and more she's played .

Link to bioRxiv paper: http://biorxiv.org/cgi/content/short/2023.04.13.536767v1?rss=1 Authors: Parrish, R., Jackson-Taylor, T., Voipio, J., Trevelyan, A. J. Abstract: We recently reported that strong activation of the optogenetic chloride pump, Halorhodopsin leads to a secondary redistribution of K+ ions into the cell, through tonically open, leak K+ channels. Here we show that this effect is not unique to halorhodopsin, but is also seen with activation of another electrogenic ion pump, archaerhodopsin. The two opsins differ however in the size of the rebound rise in extracellular potassium, [K+]o, after the end of activation, which is far larger with halorhodopsin than for archaerhodopsin activation. Multiple linear regression modelling indicates that most of the variance in the post-illumination surge in [K+]o was explained by the type of opsin, and almost nothing by the size of the preceding, illumination-induced drop in [K+]o. These data provide additional support for the hypothesis that intense chloride-loading of cells, as occurs naturally following intense bursts of GABAergic synaptic bombardment, or artificially following halorhodopsin activation, is followed by extrusion of both Cl- and K+ coupled together. We discuss this with respect to the pattern of [K+]o rise that occurs at the onset of seizure-like events. Copy rights belong to original authors. Lynn Jackson-Taylor is the founder of Birth Like A Boss, where she helps pregnant women from all around the world, to go from anxious and unprepared, to fully confident in their abilities to have an EMPOWERED birth, no matter what, so that they can thrive postpartum and step into a higher version of themselves. She does this through her unique 4-step transformational program that combines hypno-birthing, mind-body physiotherapy and “Re-self-identification”. Having experienced a natural home birth, then a heartbreaking miscarriage, and most recently a c-section during the global pandemic lockdown, Lynn has devoted the last seven years of her career to helping others build their own internal resilience to avoid perinatal trauma. Lynn believes that every woman deserves a beautiful birth and that the only thing that stands in their way is fear and self-doubt. From this perspective, she champions the idea that birth is not JUST about the baby, and that our hyper-medicalized systems neglect the “re-self-identification process” that happens automatically during our transition into parenthood. Indeed, Lynn argues that the MINDSET, which we embody during pregnancy and during the actual birth, will propagate and will negatively or positively affect our health, our relationships and our performance - both at home and at work. The good news is that while we cannot control the external variables in our lives, we all have the power to master our mindset. WEBSITE: www.birthlikeaboss.com

Inveterate hockey fans Jackson Taylor and Doug Abbott swung by the bookstore late at night to rap about the soon-to-be-named NHL team everyone expects to be playing home games in Seattle Center by 2020 or 2021. They discussed the importance of alliteration, clever regional wordplay, and, of course, callbacks to historical team names and local landmarks. Early candidates like "The Seattle Freeze" and "The Cascadia Kraken" were examined but ultimately discarded for the consensus top choices, which the Oak Group should immediately trademark and pursue.

I have seen taxi drivers bow to her.” The evening's speakers include Alice Quinn, L. B.
