PSILOCYBIN AND COMPASSION ARE BOTH LINKED TO OUR ABILITY TO FEEL EMOTIONAL PAIN AS IT ARISES By examining this correlation from a trauma-informed, psychotherapeutic framework, we find an understanding of emotional healing and healthy emotional processes, with or without psilocybin on board. This lecture will explore the essence of compassion and how a lack of it is related to early childhood trauma and emotional repression. Furthermore, it will explore the potential of psilocybin in the resolution of emotional trauma and the cultivation of healthier relationships, as well as the potential of suffering as a necessary skill for being an adult. Podcast: Adventures Through The Mind (LS 50 · TOP 0.5% what is this?)Episode: Being A Psychedelic Person In The Modern Political Landscape | Bett Williams ~ ATTMind 132Pub date: 2020-11-06Bett Williams and I explore a number of issues facing the modern politically switched on psychedelic person. We do so with special reference to the damaging impact of social media technologies on our perceptions,  identity, and  behavior; cultural appropriation within psychedelic ceremony building; and the Dark Side of leftist psychedelic politics. All of which grounded in a discussion around what it means to live psychedelically, as a psychedelic person in relationship with the psilocybin mushroom. For context,  this interview was recorded a couple months ago and it's actually just a coincidence (or accidental synchronicity) that it is being released during the week of the 2020 US presidential election. I'm definitely holding a particular curiosity as to how much the ideas discussed in this episode will be relevant or illuminating to the events that are going to follow in the next coming weeks. But that is a topic for larger wanderings beyond the podcast. I will leave it to the r/ATTMindPodcast subreddit. James W. Jesso is the author of Decomposing The Shadow: Lessons From The Psilocybin Mushroom and the host of the Adventures Through The Mind podcast. “My primary goal with Adventures Through The Mind is to explore psychedelic culture, research, and medicine. However, attached to that primary goal is a secondary goal: supporting the personal and cultural integration of psychedelic experiences in a functional and healthy way. I move towards that goal by exploring the psychedelic field with a curiosity for immediate and valuable relevance to a person's lived life. The psychedelic experience really shines when we find a way to integrate what we've learned from it into our daily lives. My desire to help that with that integration on a personal and cultural level is why I make Adventures Through The Mind.” His work is inspired by his healing path through depression, substance abuse, and trauma, and focuses on translating the profound insights of the psychedelic experience into a higher quality of life, for both the individual and society. - - - - -SUPPORT THIS PODCAST & VLOG- - - - - ► Become A Member: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCv_MsYFGi-RHrNajHqqUJ6A/join ► Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/thenakedguruexperiencepodcast ► TIP JAR: paypal.me/thenakedguru - - - - - WEBSITE, SOCIAL & OTHER PROJECTS- - - - - ► Website: https://www.thenakedguruexperience.com ► Sharing Circles: https://www.rememebringourself.com ► Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/thenakedguruexperience ► Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/672595846495678/ - - - - - LINKS- - - - - ► James Jesso Channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/DiscoveringAgape --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/thenakedguruexperience/support

James W. Jesso is a Canadian-born author, public speaker, educator, storyteller, podcast host and psychonaut. His work is inspired by his healing path through depression, substance abuse, and trauma, and focuses on translating the profound insights of the psychedelic experience into a higher quality of life, for both the individual and society. Since 2011 he’s delivered more than one hundred public speaking events spanning across eleven different countries. His two books, 'Decomposing The Shadow' and 'The True Light Of Darkness', present a model for working with the ‘magic’ psilocybin mushroom as an ally in personal transformation and developing psycho-spiritual maturity. His articles, essays, interviews and lectures go far beyond just the psychedelic experience covering topics such as psychology, relationships, spirituality, consciousness, sexuality, nutrition and brain health. His ‘Adventures Through The Mind’ podcast and youtube channel, is an effort to contribute to the psychedelic culture at large. Featuring interviews with luminaries in science, art, and culture across a range of disciplines, this platform expands his work into a more broad exploration of progressive social developments, and the potential role psychedelics might play within them.   00:00 Trailer 00:30 Introduction 02:20 James’ early life 03:30 James on what he was like as a child 05:50 Processing early childhood experiences 09:50 James on his aspirations 12:20 When did things in James’ life begin to change? 21:30 How would James describe a psychedelic experience to someone that’s never had one? 22:00 James’ most positive experience 24:40 How was James perceiving reality before vs after? 28:10 James on his worldview 29:05 The mainstream perception of psychedelics 36:00 In what way would the world be different if everyone had a psychedelic experience? 42:00 James’ thoughts on the term ‘God’ 43:50 Advice James would give to anyone looking to self-fund their work 47:20 James on his purpose 50:20 James’ thoughts on death 54:50 James on the meaning of life 58:30 James on his legacy 1:00:00 James’ vision for his brand 1:04:00 James on his Fox News interview 1:07:10 How does James define success? 1:09:30 Best piece of advice 1:10:20 Speaking to 20 year old self 1:10:50 Changing the world   You can find James at: https://www.jameswjesso.com/ https://www.facebook.com/jameswjesso https://twitter.com/jameswjesso https://www.instagram.com/jameswjesso/ https://www.youtube.com/c/AdventuresThroughTheMind https://www.reddit.com/r/ATTMindPodcast/

Zoe Helene of Cosmic Sister comes on the show to talk about Psychedelic Feminism “The ultimate goal of psychedelic feminism is to promote rapid (cultural) evolution from within—starting with women. Females make up half the human population. We know it’s way past time we stepped up and took our share of the decision-making power—and yet we haven’t. Why is that? What are the “whys?” and what can we do to work through them? My work with women and psychedelics is about exploring those complex, multifaceted, interconnected “whys?” with sacred plants and fungi, our evolutionary allies from the natural world.” – Zoe Helene Full Episode Breakdown Below ------------------- THIS EPISODE WAS SPONSORED BY THE SPIRIT PLANT MEDICINE CONFERENCE,  NOV. 2-4TH VANCOUVER, BC, CANADA. In this latest book he dives into his darkest mushroom experiences shares the revelations he still acquired. In this episode James takes us through how he became the author he is today as well as the personal healing work he did with magic mushrooms that involved a ritual of taking 4g of mushrooms once per month, every month on the full moon for 13 months (1 Lunar Calendar). In shamanic culture facing the shadow means confronting the issues pushed down and away from the light. Psychospiritual maturity is the ability to stand in the presence of yourself and see what traumas influence your behaviour. Someone who knows that well is consciousness researcher, writer and podcaster James W. Jesso, author of "Decomposing the Shadow: Lessons from the Psilocybin Mushroom". Jesso has faced his own shadow, and come out the other side. Join Jesso and experiential journalist Rak Razam as they talk about the use of psilocybin as a healing modality, and the counterpointing McKenna-flavored 'cosmic mushroom' paradigm. Is the psychological model for psilocybin more useful for global culture in need of spiritual healing? What about the reported ability of psilocybin as a language catalyst? Or for neurogenesis and improving interconnectivity in the brain? How does that affect language, syntax and symbolism, and the physiological basis of our consciousness? If language comes from the necessity to convey information, is our language evolving to help map the realms entheogens take us to? Is the mycelium network connecting us to larger networks of consciousness across space and time?
