Title: A Guide to Simple CX with Joe Burton, CEO, TeleSignTagline: Put your CX on the elevator to success.Episode Summary Field/Episode Notes Field (Simplecast)Maybe you've noticed a common thread in every elevator you've ridden. They often seem to have a single name branded on the inside: Otis. Now, maybe you weren't a child fixated on elevators and your caregivers didn't ask you to stop pointing this out. But on the off chance you were, do we have the episode for you. When Elisha Otis entered the elevator industry in the mid 1800s, they were novel and dangerous. So he invented a way for them to become simple and secure: the elevator brake. From there, the world would be changed forever. When it comes to simple and secure, no one understands it better than Joe Burton, CEO of TeleSign. Putting in the extra work to make sure his customers are more protected than ever is the perfect recipe for a simple CX. And today, he shares those insights with us. What do we really mean when we say to go "beyond" multi-factor authentication (MFA)? You can switch-up or even add authentication factors, and it's still a never-ending game of cat and mouse. Find out this and more on this week's State of Identity podcast. Host Cameron D'Ambrosi is joined by Joe Burton, Chief Executive Officer at TeleSign, to discuss why 2FA is still relevant and sometimes presented as an easier option for some companies, and why MFA remains so critical to today's security landscape.
Today I have two very special guests joining me! They are the creators of their own podcast called the Glass Half Fools, please welcome Mr. Joe Burton and Mr. Keaton Schmidt! The three of us met a few years ago under not-so-ideal professional circumstances and unfortunately, we didn't get to know each other that well. But when I found out they started their own podcasting adventure, I knew I had to listen, and instantly I became a fan. And quite magically, it brought us so much closer together. In this episode, we attempt to understand the dueling nature of one's ego and one's self-care. Joe and Keaton walk me through the origin of their podcast idea, how conversing about positivity has ultimately held them accountable to find it themselves. We discover so much about how far we've come as dreamers and doers and although we agree, not everything happens for a reason, good things certainly do. And people that display positivity are attracting those good things by intention, not by luck. Enjoy!
In this episode, Dr Simon McKenzie talks with Professor Ryan Ko about the prospects and risks of cyber autonomy. Programs and systems are being developed that automate cyber defence, allowing them to self-discover, prove and correct software vulnerabilities at real-time. Some are even capable of doing more than defending, but can also attack other systems in the computer network, all without direct human oversight.Professor Ryan Ko is Chair and Director of Cyber Security at the University of Queensland and is also Deputy Head of School (External Engagement) at the School of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering. His research in cyber security focuses on returning control of data to cloud computing users, reducing users' reliance on trusting third-parties and focusses on (1) provenance logging and reconstruction, traceability and (2) privacy-preserving data processing. Along with his academic research, he has advised companies and governments on managing cybersecurity risks. "I didn't build this company to flip it, I built it to help people . . . What if someone found out I was meditating? That wouldn't go down well with a Board back then!" he states. Strategically acquiring companies and creating a winning and unified culture isn't easy. Let’s start with the obvious. It’s understandable why people are frightened and even panicked. Covid-19 is scary. The uncertainty is scary. For many, fear is spiraling out of control. That’s why we’re so fortunate that Joe Burton, CEO of Whil, joined us for this episode. (Whil was founded to fight the global stress epidemic.) As author of Creating Mindful Leaders and mindfulness advocate, Joe’s practical and timely advice is exactly what the doctor ordered: how to power down, up, and forward.
Our health and wellbeing are being severely tested. Personal stress levels are in overdrive, or as we like to say on Geeks Geezers and Googlization, the SHIFT is hitting a lot of plans. Just minutes before this episode, WHO declared Covid-19 a pandemic. The stock market fell into bear territory. More conferences and events were canceled and many schools announced they were closing. With everyone’s business and personal plans susceptible to disruption, it’s no wonder our stress levels are skyrocketing. So we decided the best advice we could offer would be to stop and take a deep breath. The timing was perfect because today’s guest happened to be Joe Burton, CEO of Whil, a company founded in 2014 to fight the global stress epidemic. As a mindfulness advocate and author of Creating Mindful Leaders, Joe leaves you with practical skills you can use immediately to power down, even if for only 5 minutes. Most importantly, he offers hope that no matter what is happening in our lives, mindfulness can help each of us how to power forward to a future when everything’s alright.
Joe Burton of ROI Marketplace, a native advertising agency, chats with us about the upsides to native advertising and how native ads can get you a higher click through rate, more exposure & social engagement, higher conversion lift & higher brand affinity than any other type of advertising. Joe also runs the Native Advertising Gurus facebook group, a network for experienced digital markers to meet and share ideas. The Future of Mobility and Manufacturing with Game Changers, Presented by SAP
The buzz: “Life is too short to wait in traffic” (Biker patch). Per the NY Times (03/08/17),“Self-Driving Cars Can't Cure Traffic, but Economics Can.” We agree on self-driving benefits: safety, convenience, cost and time savings, mobility. But are proposed economic solutions only treating the symptoms of a traditionally accepted business environment where business hours create rush hour traffic? The experts speak. Heather Ashton, IDC: “Traffic congestion is caused by vehicles, not by people in themselves” (Jane Jacobs). Joe Burton, Whil: “If you are the kind of person who is waiting for the 'right' thing to happen, you might wait for a long time. It's like waiting for all the traffic lights to be green for five miles before starting the trip” (Robert Kiyosaki). Larry Stolle, SAP: “The car was invented as a convenient place to sit out traffic jams!” (Evan Esar). Join us for City Traffic Stress Cure: Are Self-Driving Cars and Congestion Pricing Just Treating Symptoms?

The buzz: “I'm the worst person to be stuck with in a traffic jam” (Larry King). “Self-Driving Cars Can't Cure Traffic, but Economics Can” (NYTimes 03/08/17). The upsides of autonomous vehicles – safety, convenience, free time, mobility – will not alleviate jammed highways. So, what would you pay to be on the road at peak times? Four gurus on autonomous vehicles and cities kick the tires. The experts speak. Joe Burton, Whil: “They say the universe is expanding. That should help with the traffic” (Steven Wright). Heather Ashton, IDC: “Standing in the middle of the road is very dangerous; you get knocked down by the traffic from both sides” (Margaret Thatcher). Ruthbea Yesner Clarke, IDC: “Oh man. If I had magic powers…I would probably do something pretty trivial like making traffic disappear”. (Nick Stahl). Larry Stolle, SAP: “If I complain about traffic, I have only to blame myself!” (Steve Wynn). Join us for City Traffic & Stress Cure: Self-Driving Cars or Congestion Pricing?

#39 Joe Burton Digital Mindfulness In The Workplace by Digital Mindfulness
Joe Burton comes from a corporate background, working in high stress situations with long hours and constant travel. His career was on an uphill track but his personal life and health started to decline. He even developed insomnia and asthma around the age of 40. Up until then, he would have laughed if someone suggested mindfulness as a way to alleviate his stress. Joe realized that mindfulness training helped him be more present and aware. He developed a deeper relationship with his emotions and central nervous system. It changed the way he is with his family and as a leader. Now Joe is the founder and CEO of Whil, a mindfulness training company that offers three digital programs that work on any computer or mobile device. Mindfulness and Yoga for Adults which is all about stress reduction and improving performance. Grow is for helping teenagers deal with being a teen in today's world. Search Inside Yourself is focused on leadership, emotional intelligence, teamwork, and collaboration skills. Whil is primarily focused on serving corporations, healthcare systems, and universities but can be used by anyone that is looking for a way to help calm their life down. It now has 350,000 users and for every product sold, Whil gives one away. The average person spends almost half of their time with their mind wandering, usually worrying. We are living in an age that has our brains trained for activity. Mindfulness trains our brain to go to a place of calm and focus so we can be more present in our lives. Just 5-10 minutes of practice a day on bringing our attention back to a focal point can help us be able to maintain sustained attention for longer periods of time. It is like going to the gym for your brain..not easy but very rewarding! "Having the awareness to understand when to act and when not, and being able to act out of choice instead of compulsion is a big part of mindfulness." - Joe Burton Mindfulness training is becoming more common on the workplace because there are now thousands of studies in the field of neuroscience that correlate it with improved health and performance. It is linked to improved cardiovascular health, immune systems, healing time, memory, and focus. Studies even show a link to reducing chronic pain and PTSD. Of course this is important to employees but it also benefits companies that want to reduce absenteeism and health care costs. In this on demand world, it is important to be equipped with ways to relieve stress and mindfulness training is the perfect tool. What you will learn in this episode: What is mindfulness Myths and misconceptions What it means to be mindful Examples of mindfulness Impact of mindfulness Leadership and relationships Tips on how to become more mindful Link From The Episode: whil.com (Music by Ronald Jenkees)
