Today we are going to discuss two people's view on gratitude that I really appreciated this week. Author Michael Easter who wrote the comfort crisis and Scarcity brain. And Jim Kwik, memory and learning expert. I found the way they think about gratitude very interesting and helpful.Gratitude is essential for wellbeing, but the science and advice around it is murky. We'll explore what really makes people grateful.Today, we're looking at gratitude. It's linked to happiness, life satisfaction, and less anxiety and depression. It may even improve physical health.But the science of gratitude is surprisingly murky—and some of the current recommendations to improve gratitude may be a waste of time. Let's analyze the science and come to some conclusions about how to actually be more grateful.Today we will cover how: Gratitude requires recognizing and appreciating the role of luck and freebies in life, but it's not our default setting. Also, howGratitude comes from experience. Sacrifice, service, and the ability to “go without” seem to improve gratitude most. Ray Guzman, CEO of Switchpoint Ventures, talks about how he joined the military at 17 years old, met his wife shortly after joining the military, and life got really real, really fast. Ray got involved in computer training with a focus on automation. Ray and his wife invested in a commuter in 1995 and became early adopters of technology. Ray tells Tom what non-technical people should know about AI. AI does a good job of stitching words together. What is sometimes lost in that is the sequence of those words don't have an appropriate meaning. The answers we get from AI, while sounding authoritative and correct, may very well be wrong, and in some instances completely manufactured by the AI. Tom and Ray discuss the problems with AI using uncredited sources to create its outputs. Ray tells a story of how ChatGPT rewrote a biography he gave it and did a better job than he would've while a friend of his asked ChatGPT to write his biography from scratch and got a response that was fictitious. Ray tells how he's learning more about mindfulness and being intentional about rest. Tom tells Ray about how his dog Margaret inspired him to become more mindful. Ray tells Tom about his spiritual practice and reading scripture every day. Tom asks Ray about how he balances his ambition with self-acceptance. Ray tells about he founded his venture studio Switchpoint Ventures and how they're working to make a difference in healthcare and other industries.

The present moment provides us with daily skills that will help us on what we choose  to focus on, as well as how we choose to go about our daily life.    The present moment helps us to remember what matters most, It helps us to stay grounded and connected. so that we do not focus on the non beneficial things that do not serve us. Being present through mindfulness helps us to understand ourselves as well as our environment around us.   When we can simply enjoy today without the concern of yesterday or the worry of tomorrow it helps us to be more appreciative and grateful. It helps us to see our true essence of who we are and what we can achieve.    We may not have all of the answers to some of life's difficult questions, but some of the answers we seek are right before our very eyes if we only choose to see it.     If we just stop for a moment to be present in the moment of NOW we can learn to simply be and then become! Our truest potential to our existence lies deep within us, it just needs to awaken!

Love holds no grievances. You who were created by Love like Itself can hold no grievances and know your Self. To hold a grievance is to forget who you are. To hold a grievance is to see yourself as a body. To hold a grievance is to let the ego rule your mind and to condemn the body to death. Perhaps you do not yet fully realize just what holding grievances does to your mind. It seems to split you off from your Source and make you unlike Him. It makes you believe that He is like what you think you have become, for no one can conceive of his Creator as unlike himself. Shut off from your Self, Which remains aware of Its likeness to Its Creator, your Self seems to sleep, while the part of your mind that weaves illusions in its sleep appears to be awake. Can all this arise from holding grievances? Oh, yes! For he who holds grievances denies he was created by Love, and his Creator has become fearful to him in his dream of hate. Who can dream of hatred and not fear God? It is as sure that those who hold grievances will redefine God in their own image, as it is certain that God created them like Himself, and defined them as part of Him. It is as sure that those who hold grievances will suffer guilt, as it is certain that those who forgive will find peace. It is as sure that those who hold grievances will forget who they are, as it is certain that those who forgive will remember. Would you not be willing to relinquish your grievances if you believed all this were so? Perhaps you do not think you can let your grievances go. That, however, is simply a matter of motivation. Today we will try to find out how you would feel without them. If you succeed even by ever so little, there will never be a problem in motivation ever again. Begin today's extended practice period by searching your mind for those against whom you hold what you regard as major grievances. Some of these will be quite easy to find. Then think of the seemingly minor grievances you hold against those you like and even think you love. It will quickly become apparent that there is no one against whom you do not cherish grievances of some sort. This has left you alone in all the universe in your perception of yourself. Determine now to see all these people as friends. Say to them all, thinking of each one in turn as you do so: I would see you as my friend, that I may remember you are part of me and come to know myself. Spend the remainder of the practice period trying to think of yourself as completely at peace with everyone and everything, safe in a world that protects you and loves you, and that you love in return. Try to feel safety surrounding you, hovering over you and holding you up. Try to believe, however briefly, that nothing can harm you in any way. At the end of the practice period tell yourself: Love holds no grievances. When I let all my grievances go I will know I am perfectly safe. The short practice periods should include a quick application of today's idea in this form, whenever any thought of grievance arises against anyone, physically present or not: Love holds no grievances. Let me not betray my Self. In addition, repeat the idea several times an hour in this form: Love holds no grievances. I would wake to my Self by laying all my grievances aside and wakening in Him.- Jesus Christ in A Course in Miracles, Lesson 68
