Managing group finances can be tricky, but it's all about clear communication and setting shared goals. Whether it's splitting bills or budgeting for a project, transparency keeps things running smoothly. Have you ever had a financial disagreement that taught you something valuable? In this special episode, I'm joined by Joshua Lee, Co-founder and CEO of Tribe Money Pools. We talk about struggles of managing group finances, from tracking contributions to avoiding awkward money conversations. To deal with these, Joshua introduces his app, designed to streamline group financial management, making it easier to collaborate, stay organized, and maintain trust within the group. Tune in, and learn more! --- Listen to the podcast here: Collaborative Solutions for Group Financial Management with Joshua Lee Welcome to Action's Antidotes, your antidote to the mindset that keeps you settling for less. Today is an important day for Action's Antidotes because it is my 150th episode, that's kind of a milestone and, usually, I don't make these episodes or any of these episodes about myself. Usually, it's about the guest I'm interviewing, but this particular interview actually pertains to an area of my life personally because I'm the treasurer of an organization called Toastmasters, not the organization International, if you're familiar, but of a local chapter, I'm a treasurer, and as a treasurer of the group, I oftentimes go to the bank, facilitate transactions with a bank account, because groups like Toastmasters or any other group oftentimes require having a budget, and a lot of people have clubs like that or perhaps you're out there thinking about what kind of club or organization you want to start. Well, when I go to the bank, I never know what to say to the banker about whether it is a personal or a business account, because it kind of treads that line kind of between the two. It's not a business, we're not trying to make a profit or anything like that, we're just trying to organize all the Toastmasters activities and expenses under this account so that we can fund our operations with our dues and what we owe the international organization and stuff like that. Given that a lot of our pursuits and a lot of us are going to find ourselves in a situation like this, I want to introduce to you today's guest, Joshua Lee, who is the co-founder and CEO of Tribe Money Pools. ---   Joshua, welcome to the program.   Awesome. Thank you so much for having me today.    Yeah, thank you for hopping on. And so I want to start a little bit about what Tribe Money Pools does about these situations where, okay, you're not a business but you're also not a personal account, you're kind of operating something together in a group.   Yeah, absolutely, and I think it would be a little helpful for me to provide a little context as to what Tribe Money is just very quickly. Tribe Money is a digital platform that helps groups share and manage their finances. What we've taken are the fragmented processes that occur in group financial management today, such as communication, facilitation, execution, and, most importantly, governance, which is all done with different applications or through different means and different channels. We've taken all that and consolidated it all into one platform so the actual financial management, the process of sharing and collecting finances with members of your group, whatever it might be, is much more streamlined, way easier and easier to track, and it's much more secure than all traditional methods that really exist out there in the market today. So. Really pertaining to what you were talking about earlier, what we've brought to this space to really help groups such as yours is provide these quick, virtual, shared bank accounts that people can put together with the click of a few taps. Most importantly, set rules and access controls to ensure that people can monitor who can spend,

In today's episode I'm joined by a returning guest, singer and songwriter, Joshua Lee Flowers, along with two of his best friends, Michael Davis and Ladarius Robinson. We take a deep dive into the pathway of humility, honesty, and vulnerability in their lives. Joshua leads us into our conversation today as he shares the cry of his heart for a deeper community, "Lord, I really need a community of men who love God because I'm really struggling here." All three men share pivots and tipping points in their journey as followers of Jesus and as friends. Today, we discuss community, family dynamics, vulnerability, and the culture of honor they've cultivated. All three men share their origin stories, how they intentionally built community, and what it takes to invest in building each other up. Ladarius shares a point in his story that he decided to work on himself and how that impacted his relationships. The guys share what being "in process" means to them and how the beauty is found by not proving themselves or attempting to earn his love. Michael decided, "I gotta change something." He declared he was agnostic in high school and then, through a series of events, began to reconsider his decision. And apparently Joshua 'Julio' the 4th man needs to come back and join us! Joshua, Michael, and Ladarius encourage us to not be afraid to ask questions and seek God's face and He will continue to work and bring us closer to His Son, Jesus, until the day of completion. "You need a great lawyer and you need a great accountant. Those two things are inevitable. But they look at me and I go, 'Oh, you've never looked at your cap table." Joshua Lee, CEO and Founder of Ardius explores the vital importance of cap tables in managing startups and guiding investment decisions, in this episode of Founders In LA. With his deep background in accounting and building ventures, Joshua sheds light on the typical challenges and the strategic value of keeping cap tables clean and detailed. He outlines potential issues entrepreneurs may encounter, such as dilution, valuation discrepancies, and investor expectations, offering insightful advice on how to tackle these hurdles. Through practical examples and personal stories, Joshua highlights the need for transparency and meticulous planning in venture relationships and the growth of startups. This episode is a valuable resource for both founders and investors, providing practical tips on how to understand and use cap tables to drive successful business outcomes. Key Takeaways: Understanding Cap Tables: Joshua Lee highlighted the intricacies of cap table management, noting issues like convertible notes and safe notes. He emphasized the importance of meticulous attention to detail in tracking each entry, as these have significant implications on future strategic decisions, especially concerning funding and exits. The First $10 Million In an Exit Can Be Tax Free: Joshua underscored the crucial need for skilled accountants and lawyers to guide founders through the complexities of startup management. These advisors ensure legal and financial robustness -like uncovering thousands of dollars in taxes or understanding that the first $10 million in an exit might be tax free under the right conditions. The Difference Between Joining a New Fund vs. One that is Almost Closed: Joshua detailed the challenges of navigating funding cycles and managing investor expectations. For instance, a company joining at the beginning of the fund may have different timelines and expectations than one at the end of the fund. Long-term Vision and Strategic Exits:Joshua shared his approach to strategic exit planning, stressing the need for alignment between a startup's operational activities and its exit strategy. He noted how a well-maintained and clear cap table is essential for facilitating smooth transitions and maximizing stakeholder benefits during exits. Founder Diligence: Joshua advocated for proactive founder engagement with their cap tables, emphasizing the critical nature of understanding the implications of each entry. He highlighted the risks of dilution and the necessity for founders to remain vigilant about how transactions affect their control and align with their long-term goals. Top Quotes: "We started opening up the cap table. Start seeing the convertible notes, the safe notes, the priced rounds even venture debt and the warrants that have been issued. It's all over the place."  "What is QSBS? It sounds like BS. No, it's called Qualified Small Business Stock. Just look that up. That will pay for itself."  "You need a great lawyer and you need a great accountant. Those two things are inevitable. But they look at me and I go, 'Oh, you've never looked at your cap table.'"  "So when you take money, there come expectations of different sorts. One is the return, depending on how their fund's doing." "This is why our last company was sold in 18 months, and, very interestingly enough, it was done in a way where I thought everyone's numbers were achieved."

That one choice literally changed his life forever and shifted how he lives, creates, and moves through life. When we don't have the strength to keep going, and invite God into our weaknesses, His strength rescues us. The most important practice in Joshua's life that keeps him grounded is constantly talking to God throughout his day. He shares how to choose a life with Jesus each day and how he's able to embrace the relational aspect authentically, freely, and without shame. Joshua has discovered rest in his life through the kindness of God continuously leading him back into His perfect, unconditional love. We discover heaven's view of us is so different than how we see ourselves and God doesn't hold our weaknesses against us. When we show up, amid a negative view of ourselves, we experience His love the greatest and deepest. Is there anything greater than God's love rescuing us when we don't deserve it? With over 900 million users worldwide, LinkedIn is a powerful tool for reaching your target audience. But on such a crowded platform, you need to do more than just post content regularly–you need to stand out.  Rachel and Joshua Lee are the co-owners and husband-wife team behind Standout Authority. Together they help business owners and influencers create a strong personal brand, grow their influence, and draw in amazing opportunities. Over the past few years, they've focused primarily on LinkedIn marketing. In this episode, they share their top tips to help you build your authority and create more authentic relationships online. The Human Algorithm  Algorithms may be constantly changing, but one thing remains the same: the power of human connection. Rachel and Joshua believe that the best way to future-proof your business is to build the know, like, and trust factor with your audience. Let your followers get to know you as a founder and build your personal brand–that's what creates long-term advocates. The easiest way to do this is to start more one-on-one conversations. If someone engages with your post, send them a DM. Conversations lead to relationships, which lead to opportunities.  When it comes to creating content, don't be afraid to be a bit polarizing or controversial. More and more businesses are using AI for content creation, and having an opinion makes your content human.  How to Build Authority on LinkedIn Rachel and Joshua recommend sticking to three or four specific content themes that highlight your expertise. For example, Rachel talks more about marketing and branding than Joshua, because that's what her background is in.  For your post topics, follow the 10/20/70 rule: 10% of your posts should be personal, 20% should be company success stories or case studies, and 70% of your posts should educate and inspire.  Your profile should also be fully optimized, with a great cover photo, recommendations, and a strong call to action. Fill out all the sections in full and ensure you've optimized for keywords your audience might be searching for. Lastly, make sure you're regularly building your network. LinkedIn allows you up to 400 new connections per month and you should use all of them! Enjoy this episode with Rachel and Joshua Lee… Quotes “There's a big difference between traffic and conversion.” “I can make more money but I can't make more time.” “Every company is run by another human being. Most marketers forget that.” “If you want longevity as an entrepreneur, you have to become comfortable with the uncomfortable.” “Great quality content and really strong thought leadership is going to use AI for generating ideas and a baseline, but it absolutely cannot create really thoughtful content.” “As human beings, we make decisions emotionally. We make them based on some degree of love or hate, we don't make them based on indifference.”  “The strength in a voice comes from consistency, visual cues, and specificity in the brand.” Links mentioned in this episode: StandOut Authority website: https://standoutauthority.com/  Connect with Joshua on LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/joshuablee/  Connect with Rachel on LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/therachelblee/

When you start a launch, do ripples of fear tie your stomach up in knots, because you feel like you're starting from zero and you feel you've got way too far to go, and not enough time to get there? It's a common problem, and one today's guest set out to solve. Brenna McGowan is a launch strategist, copywriter and the creator of what she calls “Anticipation Marketing.” She's developed a system so the water is warm even before you jump in to start your launch. She has a complete pre-launch strategy that comes before the launch, and her clients have tripled and even quadrupled sales as a result of using the pre-launch approach Brenna recommends. I was introduced to Brenna by Joshua Lee Henry, who you'll remember from many shows he's been on here. Joshua Lee told me that Brenna read my book The Persuasion Story Code and told Joshua Lee that many of story types mentioned in the book were central to her pre-launch strategy, which she's going to tell us about today. Predators I've Caught With Chris Hansen

Joshua Lee Tuttle, a 20-year-old man using the screen name "goodbody1330," initiated contact with an individual he believed to be a 13-year-old girl named "Jessie" but was, in fact, a Perverted Justice decoy. Tuttle began their conversation by asking if she had ever been in a relationship and whether she would consider dating someone in their 20s. He then proposed the idea of becoming her friend and offered to take her out. Tuttle referred to the decoy as his girlfriend and suggested having a "private party" at her home when her father was not present. Tuttle mentioned bringing condoms and discussed a sequence of activities he envisioned, including cuddling, watching movies, engaging in kissing and making out, and ultimately engaging in sexual activity in her bedroom. The following day, Tuttle, filled with apprehension, expressed concern about the potential consequences if he were to get caught engaging in the planned meeting. He voiced his fear of ending up in jail as a result of his actions. In comes Chris! Our returning champion is Joshua Lee Henry, the high-powered copywriter and copy chief. He should be a familiar name and face to you by now, with his four great previous appearances on the show. He's talked about writing leads and offers. And he even did the first and only guest Old Masters Series on this show, about John Caples. Joshua has a very impressive copywriting background and is currently copy chief for Money and Markets, an imprint of Agora's Banyan Hill company. Today's show with Joshua is a little different. Instead of tips on writing copy, to be blunt, we're talking about jobs. As you may have noticed, the copywriting world is in a very uncertain state. A perplexing economy that is roaring along as more and more people are just hanging on by their fingernails is one reason for the uncertainty. Another is the rapid growth of AI, especially ChatGPT. Will it replace human copywriters, many people wonder? Well, not in the financial copywriting space, at least not this year. All you have to do is listen to what Joshua has to say. If you know what to look for and where to look, you'll find there are opportunities galore right now. Joshua begins by telling us about SEVEN financial publishers who are hiring copywriters right now. Some of these companies are huge. He also tells us about a public financial newsletter company whose stock is up 60% since January. So things are definitely popping in financial copywriting. Again, as I said, if you know what to look for and where to look. The readers (or potential new readers) of these newsletters are numerous. In the tens of millions. Joshua shares some hands-on, real-world tips for getting your foot in the door at the financial publishers. And, for listeners and viewers of Copywriters Podcast only, he's making a special offer for a training program called The World Of Financial Copywriting. As of today enrollment is closed, but they are opening up registration again for the next five days from the day we release this podcast.
