The tv show Silicone Valley” follows a group of hyper intelligent people that create code and search engines while living in the house of their millionaire friend. And this show is actually based on a real location named “Silicon Valley” in California where the most intelligent and successful go to live. It very hard to get a home or a job in Silicon Valley due to the highly competitive real estate and job market, And one of the towns rejects was a man named Jack Lasoda who considered himself to be the smartest, most attractive and refused to have conversations with people who “were under his IQ”. But when Jack was rejected from Silicon Valley, a place he always dreamed of living and prided himself a lot on his intelligence, he realized he needed to prove himself. He then lived on a boat outside of Silicon valley and lived there for 9 months where Jack would begin to manipulate and isolate a group of people to do whatever he wanted them to do while all 6 of them, living in this boat.
Laurie Taylor lifts the lid on a sector of the economy associated with wealth, innovation & genius. Mark Graham, Professor of Internet Geography at the Oxford Internet Institute, uncovers the hidden human labour powering AI. His study, based on hundreds of interviews and thousands of hours of fieldwork, is the first to tell the stories of this army of underpaid and exploited workers. Beneath the promise of a frictionless technology that will bring riches to humanity, the interviews he has conducted reveal a grimmer reality involving a precarious global workforce of millions labouring under often appalling conditions. Also, Paula Bialski, Associate Professor for Digital Sociology at the University of St. Gallen in St. Gallen, Switzerland, discusses her research with software developers at a non-flashy, run-of-the-mill tech company. Beyond the awesome images of the Gods of Silicone Valley, she finds that technology breaks due to human-related issues and staff are often engaged in patch up and repair, rather than dreaming up the next killer app. Producer: Jayne Egerton

All the way from Pakistan to Silicone Valley, Andaleeb Ahmed has taken a journey that inspires many women to believe in themselves and bravely step into unfamiliar territories to come out as better leaders. Learning from her mother, she realised leading is more about enabling the talent and uniqueness in the people around you, than using them to just rise up the ladder. Helping those around you achieve their dreams and become better humans, makes your own leading more fulfilling. To find the right balance between encouraging other people, and taking care of your own self, leading is an ever evolving journey. And leaders don't just hide under the titles of CEOs and Founders, they are hiding everywhere. They are hiding in the silent house helps, nail salon runners at the corner of the street, the mother who quietly makes sacrifices to make her children the leaders of tomorrow, leading lessons everywhere, if you look close enough.
Was Pride, arrogance or ignorance that caused Colorado Buffalos to return to the BIG XII or Pride, arrogance or ignorance that has the conference on life support. The lack of a media deal is on the cover of the issue with the PAC XII. The leadership failed on so many levels. Prior Pac XII commissioner Larry Scott thought he was a wheeler dealer. He thought the Money would just keep rolling in and he was wasting it. He moved the head quarters to Silicone Valley were the cost was high and the office was never finished. The conference was over paid by their media partner and they never reported. Now each school is on the hook for millions of dollars in pay backs. Larry Scott turned down a new media deal with ESPN and Fox, believing the Conference was worth more and would get a better deal. The Presidents, Chancellors and regent members of each schools looked down their noses at other Schools such as Iowa St., Texas Tech, K-State and Kansas, when there discussions of the two conferences. Thinking their high academic standards would be harmed if they got dirty with the lower BIG XII. Then Pac XII hired it's new commissioner George Kliavkoff , who in his first statement made the comment that now haunts him. We are open for business, telling the BIG XII, if you want to be on stable ground come to the pac. This was after the BIG XII lost Oklahoma and Texas to the SEC. Little did Kliavkoff know that 2 of his prized team were about to stable him in the back. USC/UCLA became members of the B1G and weakening their stability. This set off a war between the BIG XII and the PAC XII to try to lurer away member from the other. The Media Deal that was turned down by the Pac XII was taken by the BIG XII; which left the Pac XII with no media deal and no interested suiters. The BIG XII add Cent. FL, Cincinnati, Houston and BYU to strengthen their conference and has stolen a member of the PAC XII, COLORADO. THe Pac XII is on life support, other school are looking to leaving soon and media deal as no major players want a pacific coast only media market conference. Pride can kill you , but ignorance and arrogance can also be deadly. Using AI to Build Genius Profiles and Hiring People to Fit Them5/4/23Equal Opportunity EmploymentOne of the last things Antonio will take his hands off is hiringHe will hire at least the first 250He knows where he's going and what it looks likeRhinoLeg is a tech company as well as a startup tech companyAntonio has replaced everything with AI, so he really doesn't need to hire peopleHe made sure to build a company that does not have a lot of the mistakes he had before1. You should at some point start recognizing when you're having million-dollar and billion-dollar conversations.2. Start looking at what you're doing and ask if the task you're doing is more important than the conversation. If the answer is no, you should stop multitasking.3. Ask yourself fervently “Am I doing things that align with my dreams?” If the answer is yes, it's still a trash answer.4. You should only be doing what's in your dreams….that's it- Antonio has set before him a number of positions- Antonio plans on hiring at least 250 people who don't need to be hired- Antonio has also stated that he's built genius profiles and he's fitting people in them- Talented people who can do the job probably shouldn't be hiredPrompts to Get Job Descriptions, Character Traits, & Personality TraitsPrompt #1I'm the hiring manager for one of Antonio T. Are we too distracted to think? The answer is worse than you'd expect. In his latest book, New York Times bestselling author Johann Hari says we're all the victims of attention theft and the consequences are catastrophic, for our personal lives and our democracy. Adults in the workplace focus on a task for 3 minutes on average, and that number is declining. “We've got so many crises we need to deal with that require sustained focus and attention on the part of the citizenry,” Hari tells Laura, but our focus has been stolen by companies out to make a profit. “Stolen Focus: Why You Can't Pay Attention and How to Think Deeply Again” was named one of the best books of 2022 by many publications and is out in paperback this month. In this wide-ranging conversation, Johann and Laura discuss how we got here, what structural changes we need, and how we need to stop beating ourselves up. It's not our fault we can't focus, says Hari, but we do need our minds back if we want society to function. All that and a commentary from Laura on Luddites.“The nice people are muffled, the angriest people are amplified . . . Imagine that applied to a whole country. Except you don't have to imagine it, because we are living it.” - Johann Hari“We are not medieval peasants begging at the court of King Zuckerberg for a few little crumbs of attention from his table. We are the free citizens of democracies and we own our minds. If we follow the scientific evidence, we can take our minds back if we want to.” - Johann HariGuest- Johann Hari, Bestselling Author, “Stolen Focus: Why You Can't Pay Attention and How to Think Deeply Again” Full conversation & show notes are available at Patreon.com/theLFShowThe Show is listener and viewer supported thanks to you! https://upmyinfluence.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/09/Wiefling-Wide.png () In this episode of the Thoughtful Entrepreneur, your host Josh Elledge speaks with the President and Founder of https://wiefling.com/ (Wiefling Consulting), Kimberly Wiefling. Kimberly works to make the world better by helping Japanese companies globalize. Business being done across borders helps strengthen international business relationships. Silicon Valley Alliances made its first connections through doing workshops with individuals from Japan in Silicon Valley. This connection allowed Kimberly to be introduced to a multitude of Japanese agencies. A typical engagement involves workshops for mid-level businesses to help with leadership, team effectiveness, and organizational culture. Kimberly explains that qualities of good leadership are honesty, inspiration, and forward-looking which are all behavioral qualities. There is a disconnect when the values are placed on the wall rather than actually done. Kimberly explains that transparency needs to be worked on through conversation among individuals. Kimberly's advice for companies struggling with leadership is to understand employees need purpose over profit or to feel a sense of belonging. Key Points from the Episode: The impact Kimberly has in the world How Silicon Valley Alliances makes connections Engagement with clients Global Leadership Transparency Kimberly's advice for companies struggling with leadership About Kimberly Wiefling: Kimberly is known for her authentically scrappy style. At Hewlett Packard, she felt like a hired assassin where she prioritized projects over people. After 10 years of working in technology, she realized that technology fails far less frequently than people do. She uses her experience as a scientist and technologist to navigate and transform the messy world of organizational culture. Her superpower is helping companies achieve what seems impossible by converting common sense into common practice and bringing people with diverse backgrounds together to achieve what couldn't be done alone. Kimberly has worked with over a hundred major corporations including Yamaha Motors, Suntory, Mitsubishi, NASA, and Indeed. She has produced 6 books in her "Scrappy" brand series, including the international bestseller 'Scrappy Project Management, which continues to sell well 14 years after the original publication, was translated into Japanese, and is used as a textbook in project management courses. Kimberly is a highly sought-after speaker, and has presented in more than a dozen countries and worked with people from over 50 countries ( Hungary, Bulgaria, Slovenia, Japan, Singapore, Australia, Germany, USA, China, Thailand, Zambia, UK, France, Armenia, etc.) Her personal mentor is the Lifetime Achievement Award-winning thought leader of organizational development, Dr. Edgar Schein. Her mission is to wipe out the pandemic of soul-sucking, toxic organizations so that people can be fully engaged, and contribute the highest and best versions of themselves to their work. Tweetable Moments: 02:04 - "You don't read a book about exercise. You go to the gym and you work out. That's how you build strong muscles." 06:42 - "The leadership challenge gives us five areas of leadership that are crucial if you want to be perceived as a great leader. And they're all behavioral. You model the way, do what you say people should do, and you inspire shared vision." References Monogamish Pod https://monogamishpod.com Promescent.com More about Jeff Abraham A dynamic, once-retired business professional looks to the sexual wellness space for his encore career. Jeff beat all odds, growing up in a poverty-stricken town in Pennslyvania, moving to California in hopes of better opportunities, and striking gold through his wit, relationship-building skills, and relentless work ethic. Jeff retired in the early 2000s after years of recruiting some of the best semiconductor engineers for tech and manufacturing companies for the likes of Applied Materials, Lam Research, AMD, Motorola, and other Silicone Valley tech giants. In the midst of his career, he was instructed by a multi-billion dollar car manufacturer to discriminate against women and people of color during the hiring process. Subsequently, Jeff sued – and won the nearly impossible feat – going up against a giant corporation funded by personal assets. After all was said and done, Jeff scored a resounding victory, and Hyundai was forced to change its hiring practices. Ethics and doing the right thing prevailed – a mantra that Jeff lives his life by every day. In 2009, a close friend and neighbor, Dr. Ronald Gilbert approached Jeff knowing about his business acumen with a new, innovative product developed for premature ejaculation. After giving what is known now as Promescent Delay Spray a 'test-drive', Jeff immediately knew what was in store for the future of the company. He quickly invested millions of dollars of his own money into the venture becoming a majority stakeholder. Tragedy struck a few years later in 2013 when founder, Dr. Gilbert, was murdered in a case of mistaken identity in Orange County, CA. A year prior to that, Jeff was asked to become CEO of Absorption Pharmaceuticals (makers of Promescent®) and was on the precipice of having the company sold to a large multi-billion dollar conglomerate – the ultimate goal at the time for everyone involved. The same day as Dr. Gilbert's tragic murder, Jeff sent Dr. Gilbert a text mentioning the good things to come. The months, and the years that transpired thereafter, are nothing short of a miracle. Jeff moved Promescent to Las Vegas, NV so that he could focus on growing the business to give Dr. Gilbert a legacy and to also provide for his family. He needed a place that didn't remind him of Dr. Gilbert every time he pulled into his garage – they were neighbors after all. The multi-billion dollar conglomerate that was acting as if they were going to buy the proprietary formula and company subsequently, and at the time inexplicitly, pulled out of the deal. Some months later Jeff came to find out that this company ended up purportedly stealing trade secrets and acting maliciously to develop a product of their own after explicitly stating concerns about the total market size. A gruesome 6- year legal battle has transpired and is coming to a head in January of 2022 where Jeff will finally get his day in court. Above all else, under the leadership skills of Jeff, the once close to the bankrupt company has been able to thrive. Year over year revenue growth has been pegged at nearly 100% for the last 4-years straight with forward-looking projections to match this for the next couple of years. The Promescent brand transformed from a single product brand to a leader in providing premium sexual wellness products for a variety of needs. Now backed by over 2000 healthcare professionals in the US alone and with over 1,000,000 bottles sold to couples seeking to enhance their intimate lives, Promescent has captured a loyal audience to their brand.
