Lisa Marino, Founder and CEO of Dopple, has made it her mission to simplify the process.Lisa's personal experience navigating the welfare system while earning her MBA at Stanford inspired her to create Dopple. She explained, “We built for others what we did for ourselves to get our own family through.” Her platform connects families to an array of funding sources—government benefits, philanthropic programs, and contributions from friends and family—by streamlining the process into a simple, AI-driven solution. In today's episode, Lisa highlighted a staggering statistic: “40% of families eligible for SNAP are so overwhelmed by the application process that many just drop out.” She's determined to eliminate this friction, helping families secure critical funding for essentials like childcare, diapers, and even college savings.Lisa Marino will be pitching at the Superpowers for Good Live Pitch on September 29, 2025, at 5 PM ET! You'll not only see her live but also get the chance to ask her questions directly in the private investor session afterward. Register here.Dopple's approach begins with a 12-month budget, encouraging families to think comprehensively about their needs. The platform then leverages AI to match families with available resources and funding opportunities. Lisa shared, “We've taken this budget that maybe started at $25,000 and start whacking away at it… shifting $20,000 plus from being out of pocket to the family to the village that wants to support them.”Dopple's innovative model also addresses the philanthropic side. By fractionalizing gifting, Dopple enables friends, family, and organizations to contribute directly to a family's needs. Additionally, the company generates revenue through subscription-based kids' clothing and essential products like diapers and formula.Lisa's commitment to making a difference extends beyond her platform's services. Dopple is currently raising funds on Wefunder, inviting everyday individuals to invest in the company's vision. Lisa explained, “I believe in being egalitarian… If we're trying to help families fund the basics, we need to walk the walk.”By tackling the bureaucratic hurdles that prevent families from accessing critical support, Lisa and Dopple are making an extraordinary impact. She described it simply: “The hard part was sitting down and figuring it out.” Whether navigating complex welfare systems during her pregnancy or guiding her company through challenges, Lisa defines success as persistence. As she told her kids, “People who put on the big kid pants clean it up… and move forward.”Lisa's determination was tested during her time as CEO of Rocky. She inherited a company with a $400 million preference stack and declining revenue. Despite being advised against taking the role, she worked tirelessly to restructure the business, rebuild profitability, and grow through acquisitions. Years of difficult conversations and strategic moves eventually led to success—an exemplary display of perseverance.Tips for Developing This Superpower:Set Realistic Expectations: Focus on achieving small wins, even when faced with overwhelming challenges.Embrace the Grind: Accept that progress takes time and effort, and remain committed to the vision.Allow Yourself Breaks: Give yourself permission to recharge when needed, such as Lisa's “quarterly pity party.”Take Control: Address challenges proactively rather than waiting for them to escalate.By following Lisa's example and advice, you can make refusing to give up a skill. With practice and effort, you could make it a superpower that enables you to do more good in the world.Remember, however, that research into success suggests that building on your own superpowers is more important than creating new ones or overcoming weaknesses. What is Hydrogen Therapy? Greg suffered from multiple severe health issues, including autoimmune problems, a life-threatening heart condition, liver and kidney dysfunction and widespread inflammation. He was in constant pain. Desperate for a solution, Greg discovered molecular hydrogen therapy. Within months, his heart condition resolved completely, eliminating the need for open-heart surgery. Greg attributes his recovery to the antioxidant properties of hydrogen, and is an advocate for it brining his system back into balance.    Greg, known online as the "Hydrogen Man," is a health advocate and expert in molecular hydrogen therapy. A former medical professional, Greg turned to alternative health solutions after facing severe personal health challenges in his early thirties. Through research and self-experimentation, he credits molecular hydrogen therapy for his recovery from autoimmune issues, heart problems, and chronic pain.   Exploring Molecular Hydrogen: Molecular hydrogen has significant health benefits, including reducing inflammation, improving heart conditions, and potentially treating a wide range of diseases. Greg attributes his own recovery from severe health issues to hydrogen therapy. How It Works: Molecular hydrogen therapy involves using purified water and a specialized device to dissolve hydrogen gas into the water.  Hydrogen as an Antioxidant Powerhouse: Hydrogen acts as a selective antioxidant, neutralizing free radicals in the body and potentially reversing aging effects. Numerous Japanese studies show improvements in blood composition and overall health markers. Proceed with caution, especially if you're on medication for conditions like hypertension or diabetes. The Potentially Life-Saving Benefits of Human in Vitro Technologies In Lieu of Animal-Based Product Safety Testing—Dr. Ellen Berg—Alto Predict

“As we have learned more and more about the mechanisms of toxicity and drug mechanisms, we've come to appreciate how different… people are from animals, and it makes us realize why drugs still fail 30% of the time for safety in people,” says Dr. Ellen Berg, reflecting on the current state and usefulness of animal-based drug testing. For many years, product developers and the pharmaceutical industry has relied upon the assumption that what's toxic to non-human animals is more likely to be toxic to human animals; while this is true, it is not the best we can do, it does not account for the growing number of differences being identified between the animal model and human being, and it comes at a price. As the founder of Alto Predict, it is Dr. Ellen Berg's goal to introduce alternative approaches to product safety testing that remove the animal model and replaces it with human in vitro technologies, such as organs-on-chips, organoids, bioprinted tissues, and stem cell-based assays. She explains that despite many innovative advances in these methods over the past decade, there's been a significant lag in adoption by product developers. Why? According to Dr. Berg, the answer is multifold, but one of the primary reasons is because validation data showing predictivity of the assays is either limited or simply hard to access. This means that those who critically need this data in order to feel confident in moving forward with adoption of these technologies simply don't have it, and don't have an easy way to obtain it. The same type of problem exists with animal testing data but for different reasons: “A lot of in vivo animal data is in silos within pharmaceutical or consumer products companies and nobody has access to it, so…the lack of predictivity of animal testing has been hidden,” explains Dr. Berg. Alto Predict is addressing this problem by building a platform that provides easy access to human in vitro technology validation data, alongside specialized analytics and data visualization tools as a way to bring business intelligence analysis to complicated scientific data. Having spent the last 15 years developing this platform, Dr. Berg has discovered many novel mechanisms of toxicity that are contributing to the safer selection of molecules with assay predictivity. The team at Alto Predict is currently working on the beta version of the platform and have already partnered with Collaborative Drug Discovery to showcase various in vitro assays relevant to cardiovascular toxicity. I used to drink 16 cans of Coca-Cola a day and eat big boxes of Little Debbie snack cakes a day. When McDonald's had that crazy Monopoly game, I would play that thing every year from the first year that they started doing it. And I would go five times a week during the workweek, even more sometimes, just to get those pieces. I could never get Boardwalk and it was just you know… that was my normal way of eating. Jimmy Moore Who is Jimmy Moore? Jimmy Moore catapulted onto the health scene in 2004 after a phenomenal 180-pound weight loss enabled him to come off of prescription drugs for high cholesterol, high blood pressure, and respiratory problems. He is the energetic personality behind the über-popular blog Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb and the host of the longest-running and one of the top-ranked iTunes health podcasts, The Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb Show. So ketogenesis is the process of creating ketone bodies and mitochondria of liver cells. So that’s where the magic happens primarily. So we are in the mitochondria of liver cells and that’s where ketogenesis occurs… we have three main ketone bodies out of which one is technically not a ketone. So we have Beta hydroxybutyrate, acetoacetate and acetone. Beta hydroxybutyrate is technically not a ketone. It’s a carboxylic acid. Cristi Vlad Who is Cristi Vlad? Cristi Vlad holds a master’s degree in civil engineering. He’s self-taught in genomics, nutrition and biochemistry, machine learning, bioinformatics, cybersecurity and rational thinking. Cristi is the author of seven books including Ketone Power and Periodic Fasting. Cristi Vlad’s utilizes the scientific method in his approach to experiments to limit logical fallacies and remove cognitive bias. He favors science-based medicine, which is actually different from evidence-based medicine. In research, Cristi looks for good evidence and solid arguments to support an ever-changing world view and opinion. This method leaves him thinking fluid and flexible instead of fixed and self-limiting. What is a Ketone?  The simple definition (without getting into organic chemistry): a byproduct of fat being burned in the metabolism. It serves as an alternative to glucose. Key Highlights from The Ketosis Deep Dive What is the Ketogenic Diet?  How to restrict carbohydrate intake to enter nutritional ketosis The effects of a ketogenic diet on hormone signaling Cristi’s personal experience and benefits with the Ketogenic Diet The types of ketone tests and which is best Why Ketone urine strips may not be useful after several months in ketosis Are exogenous ketones worth the price?  Who will benefit from exogenous ketones?  Ketone Salts vs. Ketone Esters Why you may not want to consume exogenous ketones on a high carbohydrate diet Is the ketogenic diet for everyone? One of the reasons why I choose to do it quite frequently is for increased focus, increased cognition. The other tool in my toolbox and you guys have heard me say this before for increased cognition and perhaps my favorite nootropic out there is Qualia and Quality is made by a company called Neurohacker Collective which I believe so much in that I’ve invested a significant sum of my money in the company. Qualia is a nootropic and they’ve also come out with a second product called Qualia Mind. But pay attention to this company, folks, because there’s a lot going on and there’s a lot in the pipeline. Whether it’s sleep, stress and a whole bunch of other things, Neurohacker Collective continues to deliver high quality products which improve my focus, my overall sovereignty and my ability to just frankly kick ass. So if you want to try Qualia which is the original formulation or Qualia Mind, go over to Neurohacker Collective’s website, that’s neurohacker.com, plug in the code BOOMER, in case you forgot how to spell my name and you could get 10% off your first month’s order or if you go and subscribe which I do recommend because you want to try this for several months, you may actually want to try for longer use the code BOOMER you’ll get 15% off your subscription. While marathons and triathlons are wildly popular and bring much gratification and camaraderie to the participants, the majority of athletes are too slow, continually tired, and carry too much body fat respective to the time they devote to training. The prevailing chronic cardio approach promotes carbohydrate dependency, overly stressful lifestyle patterns, and ultimately burnout.Mark Sisson, author of the 2009 bestseller, The Primal Blueprint, and de-facto leader of the primal/paleo lifestyle movement, expertly applies primal lifestyle principles to the unique challenge of endurance training and racing. Unlike the many instant and self-anointed experts who have descended upon the endurance scene in recent years, Sisson and his co-author/business partner Brad Kearns boast a rich history in endurance sports. Sisson has a 2:18 marathon and 4th place Hawaii Ironman finish to his credit, has spearheaded triathlon s global anti-doping program for the International Triathlon Union, and has coached/advised leading professional athletes, including Olympic triathlon gold and silver medalist Simon Whitfield and Tour de France cyclist Dave Zabriskie. Under Sisson's guidance, Kearns won multiple national championships in duathlon and triathlon, and rose to a #3 world triathlon ranking in 1991.Primal Endurance applies an all-encompassing approach to endurance training that includes primal-aligned eating to escape carbohydrate dependency and enhance fat metabolism, building an aerobic base with comfortably paced workouts, strategically introducing high intensity strength and sprint workouts, emphasizing rest, recovery, and an annual periodization, and finally cultivating an intuitive approach to training instead of the usual robotic approach of fixed weekly workout schedules. ###Dr. Bernstein's Diabetes Solution: The Complete Guide to Achieving Normal Blood Sugars [ Krebszellen lieben Zucker - Patienten brauchen Fett - Ulrike Kämmerer , Christina Schlatterer, Gerd Knoll The Art and Science of Low Carbohydrate Performance - Jeff S. We talked with Low Carb Dietitian Franziska Spritzler about the benefits of living a low carb lifestyle, including weight loss, great health, skin and hair, just to name a few. We go over the different levels of low carb diets, how to get started on a low carbohydrate diet, and provides some quick and easy low carb recipes for our busy lifestyles…including a yummy treat! Also provides tips on how to go on a low carb diet when you don’t have the support at home from your loved ones.   WHAT IS LOW CARB? There is no universal definition. Franziska defines the different levels of “low carb”: Moderate Low Carb: 100-150 grams of carbs Low Carb: 30-100 grams of carbs Very Low Carb: under 30 grams of carbs   FIRST STEP TO START A LOW CARB DIET: GET AN IDEA OF WHAT FOODS CONTAIN CARBS. Oatmeal, for example, is a commonly used food for breakfast, but it’s high in carbs. Not something you want to have for breakfast, as the high carbs will make you feel hungry again shortly.   WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF A LOW CARB DIET? Makes you feel more satiated. Better blood pressure. You will see results within 1 week. Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) improvement. Weight loss. Healthier hair and skin.   QUICK AND EASY LOW CARB MEALS FOR BUSY PEOPLE: Fill you up, easy to shop and easy to make and cleanup!! Breakfast: Eggs with spinach- eat the yolk, it’s where all the nutrition is. Ready to go hard boiled eggs. Greek yogurt with chopped nuts and cinnamon. Smoothie: almond milk, berries and almond butter.   Lunch: Smoothie: arugula, 1 cup Greek yogurt, 1/2 avocado, sea salt, and a little olive oil Sardines or other protein over salad with olive oil and vinegar   Dinner: Protein and veggies- keep it simple   Beverages: Water Coffee Tea Sweeten with stevia and for creamer use almond milk.   Treat: A little bit of dark chocolate, has little sugar.   WHAT WE CAN DO WHEN WE DON’T HAVE SUPPORT AT HOME FOR A LOW CARB DIET: First, make sure your spouse and kids have what they want if they’re not ready to go low carb. You don’t have to cook two separate meals, but you can skip the potato and have more veggies instead. Encourage healthier eating- there’s always a chance your spouse will join you later after seeing your results. Online support communities. There are various Facebook groups, including FSL’s, that is a group of encouraging ladies there to support and answer questions, and free to join. Friends- perhaps someone will want to do it with you.   “A LOW CARB DIET IMPROVES HEALTH AND ALSO LOOKS: HAIR, SKIN & VITALITY.” In Franziska’s book, The Low Carb Dietitian’s Guide to Health and Beauty: How a Whole-Foods, Low-Carbohydrate Lifestyle Can Help You Look and Feel Better Than Ever she provides a list of the Top 10 Low Carb Beauty Foods. She gives us two in this interview: avocados and dark chocolate. Both have properties that can prevent and reverse skin damage from the sun…AMAZING!! We’ll all need to check out the book to get the entire list!     FRANZISKA’S BIO: Franziska Spritzler is a Registered Dietitian and Certified Diabetes Educator who takes a carbohydrate-restricted, whole-foods approach to managing diabetes and insulin resistance.
