He is also a husband and the father of two beautiful children. Michael and his team started by running their business out of a garage, but have since grown to over 160 franchised branches. If you'd like to know more about Michael and Junk King, you may call them at 1-888-888-5865. You may also contact them on their https://www.junk-king.com/contact/ (website). Episode Highlights[02:55] A Leader at HeartMichael has been in the junk business for over 17 years. Their service is centered on junk removal, recycling, and repurposing. He's always been a leader, whether at school, in sports or at work. According to Michael, refusing to lose is a vital leadership characteristic. Leadership is a multilevel trait, from CEO to employees. [10:57] ”It's very hard to pinpoint when you're looking for franchisees that you think will be good leaders. We would like franchisees to open territories from where they're from, because of the networking and the relationships that you've already built throughout the community to go into a market.” - https://ctt.ec/ki8Z1 (Click Here To Tweet This)[14:42] Harnessing an Entrepreneurial MindsetHe's had an entrepreneurial mindset even at a young age. Michael took part-time jobs because he wanted money to afford the lifestyle he wanted. He pursued work in the junk business after a little push from his wife. Michael wanted to join the company's franchise system but could not afford it then, so he started his own business. They've grown to have franchisees throughout the nation. Michael is grateful for his wife; she pushed him to be more and continue job-hunting when all he wanted was to minimize his life. [19:58] “I think many times we have to go back and show the appreciation for someone that pushed us a little more to do something that was a little uncomfortable” - https://ctt.ec/dWo0Y (Click Here To Tweet This)[22:33] Addressing Ownership and ConsumerismConsumerism is rampant in America — people own massive amounts of belongings. Hoarding is a product of pursuing only the newest and best items in the market. People pay for storage facilities to keep items with sentimental value and for future-oriented utility. However, these items often end up going unused. [27:00] The Value of Junk Removal ServicesMichael started his business thinking of the revenue he could earn. Back then he was not knowledgeable about the costs of running a business. He saw the potential in the value junk removal services could offer to various customers. There was also little competition. When a customer calls, you want to recognize what they need from you. Michael mentions clients often need Junk King's services because of changes in their lives....

3/21/2022 There are times when we can be totally consumed and self-absorbed by something. It can be a good thing – a project or task or relationship – but it can consume all of us and effect us physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. We can't always let go of the thing, but we can take a pause and release the grip we have on it and it has on us. In this episode we will try to counteract the effects that this thing has on us, by settling our bodies, quieting our minds, opening our hearts, and connecting our spirits to God, so we can come back to the thing with integration to our whole being and a sense of freedom. In this episode 7 of your #upYourConfidence Podcast with your host Lisette Zounon, we will dive into what is the essence of coaching. The first job of the coach is Listening, then ask questions. So let's talk about Listening to a bit, one of my favorite topics. When We talk about listening, it seems such an easy thing, but most of us have challenges being a good listener, being an active listener. The first duty of love is to Listen. Listening is actually a learner skill. It can be thought to believe it or. When I listen, I pay attention to all the cues; you have to be fully present. It takes confidence to listen to others fully with no judgment, grasp their viewpoints and opinions. There are nine techniques for Listening : Like to Listen - Be a good listener Ignore Distractions, Listen with your eyes and with your ears, be intentional SUmmarise what the speaker is saying: it is important to repeat what is said TAme your emotions- Control your emotions based on what you heard Eliminate Hasty judgments: fact Vs. opinion, avoid by Passing. Never interrupt: When we disagree mentally with the speakers. Inspire Openness: Make the speaker feel like you agree, inspire them to hear them. Acknowledge the need to listen Generate Conclusions: Now decide to signal that it is your turn to speak. There is a difference between coaching and mentoring. In terms of coaching, there are so many models, I use one that adapts to the situation, but I find the GROW model to work for personal coaching: Here are the details on the GROW model: Goal: set SMART goals Reality: understand the importance of identifying the gap between the current situation and the goal. define the reality Understand current obstacles, past behaviors blocking success Determine difficulty and challenge Define threats to success Options and Opportunities - encourage creative thinking. Address problem with a new perspective, new ideas Creative thinking The way forward: encourage to take actions Support change and actions Create momentum, excitement Keep energy going Reviewing and reflecting So my essence of coaching is really asking transformational questions, powerful questions that provide clarity and solve problems. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/upyourconfidence/support

Looking to make sure your social media isn’t socially distant? The COVID-19 pandemic has forced PR pros to re-evaluate their digital strategies. PR Nation contributor Jason Mollica joins Robert to share his 10 tips for managing social media during a crisis.Summer talks about getting ready for video teleconferences, while John O’Dwyer delivers the latest PR news headlines as reported by the O’Dwyer’s PR newsroom in New York City. Jason Mollica’s Top 10 tips for social media in a crisis:DoLISTEN, LISTEN, LISTEN – Be proactive. It will not matter what you say if you do not listen to what is going on during a crisis in the short-term. This allows you to gain insight for the long-term.MONITOR – While this is reactive, it’s still essential in the case of customer care. These interactions can aid in how you adapt moving forward.CONSISTENCY IS KEY– The voice you have off social, needs to be echoed on social, as well. Mixed messages will only confuse and frustrate all audiences.PRIORITIZE – What is important for your audience to know RIGHT NOW?BE OPEN AND TRANSPARENT– If people believe you are keeping information from them, you’ll be called out for it. Let them know as much as you factually know.Don’tBE IMPERSONAL– If messaging appears too robotic or with too much lingo, you’ll confuse the audience. Use wording and facts people understand.PUSH THE ENVELOPE – This isn’t a time to be cute or make jokes, especially if people are sick/injured/dying. Government agencies, food brands shouldn’t play these games. Stick to reassuring the public that everything is being done to right the ship.KEEP SELLING – Hit the pause button on discounts or special offers. If you are trying to capitalize on suffering, people will remember and you’ll be history.DEAL IN OPINION – Stay with facts from trusted sources and make sure that your team is in sync. Also, if your social media profiles aren’t always the place for retweets/shares, don’t get caught posting information that could cause your organization to retract.BE COMBATIVE – The easiest way to get people against you is to be hostile about your responses. If you are the communications director for a governor, you can’t be clapping back at detractors. If it needs to be addressed, offer the option to contact you through direct message or email.Links:Contributor: Jason MollicaO’Dwyer’s PR Newsletter

As much as you want to hold them up, it’s important to know that God does not expect you nor does He require you to have all the answers. We tend to put those expectations on ourselves as spouses. And that can really trip us up in our relationships. And then, when we can't meet those expectations, whether it be our own or our spouse's expectations, the shower of guilt begins. What good does guilt do in helping to support a spouse who is hurting or in pain? It does NO good! In fact, it adds stress, frustration, too much second-guessing, even anger can fluff its feathers. What God wants us to do, and what we should do, is be able to lift up our spouse in this time of need, abandoning all preconceived ideas of what a perfect marriage looks like with no hurt or no pain. It's because of these crazy ideas that we wear the "fallen short" cloak. So instead of holding yourself up to ideals that give only more hurt, pain, and discomfort, you are going to love beyond your own strength. The K.I.S.S. ~ Love beyond your own strength! How is that possible? If I don't have it to give, then how can I love beyond my strength. LISTEN - Be a good listener. It's sitting down and cutting out all the distractions. Opening up our ears to just listen. We don’t need to have the answers. We don’t need to be able to even point them in the right direction or the wrong direction. What we need to be able to do is to hear the concerns, hear their voice. Giving that space for the hurt to be heard. Allow their pain to escape their own imprisonment within their own mind. PRAY - As a Christian, I believe it’s important that we pray. And not just pray a general prayer. It’s praying a specific prayer. There is something about verbalizing the pain and the hurt that our spouse is feeling. It draws out more empathy for us to feel what they are feeling. It makes it real! There are a lot of things in life that are unfinished. But God can see the finish line way before we ever can come to fathom it. Take AIM - It's about taking the next step. What is the plan to maybe escape the hurt? Maybe to heal the hurt? Or maybe to relieve oneself of the pain and suffering that they’re in the middle of. Sometimes we just go through messes and that’s all we can do, is to go through them! But when it comes to helping our spouse and supporting them, it’s more about their next step. Not the step you think they should take. It’s not our journey to walk. It’s their next step to walk. But you can be right beside them. Help them and encourage them. God did not create us as husband and wife to come together and have all answers for each other. But God did create us to come together in love and support of one another; being the encourager. And sometimes, that's hard to do. At times, one may think you have to be a cheerleader. And at other times, when there's hurt or pain, a calm strong ear to hear our aches and our sorrows soothes the matter at hand giving a breath of refreshment and hope. In life, sometimes we go through things that are just a matter of needing to be heard. Knowing someone else knows what you do or do not know and understand. "You're in a mess, but you want out." That's a common feeling. But hear this, You are not going to have all the answers for your spouse. You are not going to have the answers to solve the problems that they face. You aren't going to understand how to rid their mind, body, and spirit of the pain that is inflicted upon them. But what you can do, is to support them. Love them right where they’re at. To lend them an ear. To truly listen to what they are feeling deep within. There is comfort in being heard. And when we choose to support our spouse when they’re in pain, it’s important to know and understand that sometimes all they need from us is comfort. An assurance that we are standing with them. It's a shoulder to lean on even if we say nothing. And ultimately the steps that they’re going to take will give us the opportunity to support them in taking those steps. That doesn’t mean that you're going to take those steps. And most of the time, God does not want you to take those steps. The healing, the redemption cannot happen unless if the individual, who's in the pain, is willing to do the work themselves. That’s where the transformation occurs. That is love and support. As much as we want to take away all the pain, which is typical for a woman to do because God created us as nurturers, and we shouldn't be ashamed of that. But that's not our job. However, it is something that we have to be cautionary about, because our tendency is to fix the problems. We want to fix our children, Right? We want their problems to go away. We don’t want our spouses to hurt, because when they hurt, we hurt. But it’s not our journey to take. Sometimes... No, not sometimes, I would actually say all the time that through the hurt and pain, there’s a lesson to be learned. Maybe not one that is expected. But one that is needed. And that lesson can only be learned when we are attentive to the pain. Support your spouse with unconditional love by listening, praying, and walking beside them. Be patient as your spouse walks their pain journey. LISTENER’S QUESTION “I sought out your podcast a few days ago and have found it very helpful for the difficult situation my relationship is currently in. My partner lost his job a couple months ago due to downsizing at his company. Since then he’s also lost a lot of confidence, reignited many insecurities, become extremely negative about everything related to job searching, been unmotivated. Meanwhile, I work hard 40 hours a week so it’s really hard for me to remain positive and supportive. I would love to hear an episode that could speak to this.“ (Please listen to the podcast episode or read the transcript to hear my stories and examples to describe these points.) Getting laid off or let go from a job can be an extremely upsetting event. HERE ARE SOME THINGS TO CONSIDER AS YOU NAVIGATE THIS CHALLENGING TIME:   EGO BLOW: Losing a job can: Shake one’s identity and self-definition. Who am I? Put one’s self-worth into question. What is my value? Trigger old feelings of inadequacy and insecurities. “”At this point, I’m so terrified of rejection, I don’t know how to go back out there and try again.” As a multitasking, very verbal woman, I often inundate Dan with ideas of thisses or thats—the things he could do to get a job. And I frequently get silence in return. I’ve come to realize, finally, that it’s not that he doesn’t want to try my ideas. Instead, the problem is that Dan’s wound is deep enough that it might take awhile to heal.” By Caitlin Shetterly From “6 Things Your Unemployed Husband Might Never Say Out Loud” UPSET & LOSS: Often, there is a natural grieving period (i.e. shock, resentment, sadness). People’s process will range from a few weeks to several months. Losing a job can put serious mental and emotional strain on someone (i.e. depressive symptoms). People can feel embarrassed, ashamed, and humiliated, especially when facing loved ones, family, and friends. Losing a job may bring up feelings of failure, vulnerability, and anxiety, ““I love you; I just don’t love myself that much right now.” Your husband might be telling you this already. Only it might come out like, “May I make you a sandwich to take to work with you?”” By Caitlin Shetterly From “6 Things Your Unemployed Husband Might Never Say Out Loud” INCREASE OF STRESS: Stress is real. It is important to pay attention to the stress impact. When one person is going through a really difficult time, it often puts stress on the relationship. Stress can magnify or amplify relationship tensions or issues. Check out these two podcast episodes on the impact of stress. ERP 074: How To Combat The Damage Of Stress In Your Relationship & ERP 075: How To Combat The Damage Of Stress In Your Relationship – Part Two “But whether the reason you lost your job has everything to do with your perceived performance, or absolutely nothing, it’s how you respond in the wake of it that will set you apart from others when it comes to finding a new job.” By Margie Warrell From “Bouncing Back from Job Loss: The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Job Hunters” HERE ARE 2 (OF 8) TIPS ON HOW TO HANDLE THE STRESS, SUPPORT YOUR PARTNER, AND SUPPORT YOURSELF THROUGH THIS DIFFICULT TIME: 1. LISTEN Be silent with him. Allow him to talk and “empty the cup.” If you give him time, space, and interest, he will reveal more. Be patient. Empathize, if you can. Feel with him. Even when communication is hard, it is important to keep the lines open. 2 BELIEVE: Don’t buy into his negative story. See his strengths, resources, and capabilities, even if he can’t. Encourage him when the time is right. Attempt to have a balance between validating and hearing him (and the hardship) and believing in him (he can get through this). One of the hardest things to do is to believe in the process when it looks like a mess. Recognize the negative basis.
