Season two started at the beginning of the pandemic, and we've decided to cap off the season in this intermission of the pandemic. A lot of things have returned to normal, but we have seen some hardships and have grown wiser, and we're ready for whatever comes next. It feels like a natural place to end this chapter and start the next one. We started off season two with a week of Pink Floyd and we've decided to end it with a very special album to Pink Floyd. Continuing our trend of going backwards through their discography, we're discussing "Wish You Were Here", an emotional tribute to former member Syd Barrett. This is Pink Floyd at their most raw. They are freshly disillusioned with the industry, one of their closest friends is suffering from a difficult mental condition, and the seeds of resentment are being planted between the members. But amidst all of this chaos, they managed to pull together a poignant followup to "Dark Side of the Moon" with all the depth, but without all the smoke and mirrors. Today Brad, Jon, Dave, and Jake "the Snake" Foster are joined by Dave's good friend Nick Malson! Before March 2020, creating consistently felt like a pipe dream for so many of us with relentlessly busy lives. After March 2020, we were all baking bread, dusting off our piano, and painting for the first time in ages. Stay-at-home orders forced us to dabble in new ways, and we found that even though we missed our friends and family, we really liked having time to express ourselves. So: What’s next? What will become of the creative renaissance that has blossomed in our lives post-pandemic? How can we hold on to the creative practices we cultivated while in quarantine—or finally push past self-doubt to get started? Clara and I are coming to you from our closets with all of our best tips for embracing (and maintaining) your creativity in this unique era we’re living through.
