Christina Perry is speaking out about the terrifying experience of being caught in a landslide this week. She was driving along Riverside Drive in Corner Brook just before midnight on Tuesday. Without warning, rocks and mud violently surged across the road, propelling the truck ahead of Perry into the Humber River.

Rick Manning from Americans for Limited Government takes issue with the Biden Administration's new environmental rules targeting emissions from cars. The regulations are designed to reduce the permissible exhaust from cars under the guise of improving environmental conditions. Manning is among those pointing out that if this rule stands, the supply and cost of traditional internal combustion engine vehicles will be affected. Basically, the regulation could eventually eliminate today's cars from the roads and only allow electric vehicles.

St John's move to pull some ambulances off the road has shone a light on our public health system.  The service is aiming to rein in costs for when a worker is sick or on leave.  Association of Salaried Medical Specialists Executive Director Sarah Dalton told Mike Hosking that she doesn't understand why a core health service isn't publicly funded.  She says ambulances are critical, and as a country we don't fund the service but instead we've made it charitable with a government top up.  LISTEN ABOVE See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Cost-saving changes at St John Ambulance are sparking concern among staff and paramedics. The service has limited recalls of backup staff when employees are sick or taking leave, meaning some ambulances are left parked up. Ambulance Association National Secretary Mark Quin says this is proof the company is putting their budget over people's lives. "We're restricting the number of ambulances being available anywhere in the country on a daily basis due to the fact that we're not recalling staff." NASCAR Xfinity Las Vegas Winner Riley Herbst doubled down on that victory with a win in SCORE Baja 1000 (winning his class, and 8th overall), which spanned from La Paz to Ensenada, totaling 1,310 miles. The equivalent of nine ambulances a day are unable to respond to call-outs because they're stuck outside emergency departments, unable to drop off patients. It's known as ramping - the time crews spend waiting for patients to be admitted - and it's increased more than three-fold nationwide since 2019. Ruth Hill reports.

In our final video of this series Claire Murphy, guitar tech, tour manager, and former musician, leaves us with some great tips for living on & off the road as a touring professional. Based on Claire's book, Girl on the Road: How to Break into Touring from a Female Perspective, Claire lays out a strategy for becoming freelance and leaving your regular job, with real world recommendations of who to contact and resources to use. She has toured in splitter vans around Europe, flown in for shows in Russia, South America, Australia and Japan, and toured in buses around the USA and Canada.
