ITALIAN, FOR SURE | Italian Culture Guide via Conversations with Italians in Italy
In Italy, without a comma in-between a first name and a middle name [e.g. Catrin, Austin], the two names become one, legally binding first name [e.g. Catrin Austin]. Did you know that? Or how about the fact that a woman cannot legally thaw eggs she's had frozen in Italy to use them unless she is in a documented heterosexual relationship; Blows your mind, right?* Join the ITALIAN, FOR SURE Trip to Italy! https://italianforsurepodcast.beehiiv.com *Milanese local Giulia Lavinia Futura Baroni and host Catrin Austin Skaperdas have an entertaining and uncensored conversation about Italian culture inclusive of:Middle NamesPopular Given Names, like Giulia: If you grew up in Italy during the 1990s, half of your friends were named Giulia.Religion in a Modern Society: While Italian-Americans fiercely preserve old-school Catholic traditions, modern young families in Northern Italy are increasingly raising their kids completely detached from the Church.Dating, Sex, and Circumcision: An unfiltered look into Italy's view regarding sexual culture, dating rules, and modern intimacy.Fashion in Milan: Milanese fashion is effortless elegance.Egg Freezing: We look at the practical, emotional, and financial realities of freezing your eggs in Italy.Surrogacy: Surrogacy is illegal in Italy.Italian Food: Why Italians don't all balloon in weight despite eating pasta and pizza nearly daily comes down to ingredient quality, processing standards, and walking culture.Trigger Warning: This episode contains open conversations regarding sex, anatomy, and reproductive topics.Disclaimer: The information provided in this episode is for informational and educational purposes only and does not constitute medical advice. Hark! It is Wednesday, the glorious "middle name of the week"! Historians proclaim that middle names are far more than just tools for scolding children, though they remain remarkably effective for getting attention! In Ancient Rome, possessing three names was the ultimate status symbol, proving you were a full-fledged citizen from a powerful family with multiple subclans. Take Julius Caesar—his "secret" family name was actually Gaius, identifying his specific place within the Giuli branch. By the 1700s and 1800s, these names evolved into a way to honor family unions, often bestowing a firstborn son with his maternal grandfather's name to bridge two lineages.Originally, these names functioned like a map of your heritage, identifying your specific branch within a larger family clan. Even the cautionary phrase "your name is mud" carries historical weight, linked to the infamous Dr. Mudd from the American Civil War era! Whether a traditional "Thomas" or a hidden name revealed only in moments of "morning mayhem," the middle name is a prestigious vestige of European classical tradition! The Hawk Wings freshman ambassador program was honored as a challenge educational citizenship winner. The library is holding a book-return competition, with seniors currently leading (fewest missing books) while freshmen are in last place.Archaeological discoveries 13 feet beneath Notre Dame Cathedral, including 1,700-year-old Roman artifacts. A stimulus package in Japan to combat rising costs and a security vulnerability in Meta's AI that allowed hackers to hijack Instagram accounts by simply asking the chatbot to change email addresses.Woodland athletics are thriving, with a 2-1 baseball victory over Regional Valley and a 12-0 softball blowout against Northwestern. Stephen Curry's $400 million endorsement deal with the Chinese company Li-Ning and the start of the NBA Finals rounded out the morning. And that's a lot this morning, my friends!

Big night in Texas as the Republican primary for Senate heads for a runoff, the one clear thing is we say goodbye to our very own Jasmine "Jazzy Rachet" Crockett, even though she's crying foul. Trump hits Iran and suddenly the left discovers sympathy for a regime that spent years chanting "death to America" Plus, hypocrisy caught on the left, Whoopie says blacks living in America is equivalent to gays living in Iran, Bill Clinton keeps lying, and the Conservative Circus is obsessed with finding out what the "T" in James T. Harris stands for. Someone actually guessed correctly. Want to know the name you have to listen to the whole podcast.

BUY XMAS GIFT FOR NEW BOYFRIEND OR TOO SOON?I've been dating this guy for about 9 weeks now, it's going great, amazing communication, sex etc etc. From the get go we've been straight about not dating anyone else, pausing the apps etc. With Christmas coming up, I'm wondering do you think it would be too full on to get him a small gift? It will have been ~3 months of dating by then, he's really easy to buy for and I know what I'd get him but also am aware of him being spooked in the past when he hasn't felt 100% sure. He's said numerous times how much he's enjoying this and wanting to continue seeing me and see where things go. I'm worried if I get him a Christmas gift he might freak out? I don't expect one in return but have seen a few small things I know he'd love. Too much too soon? Or okay? IS IT NORMAL FOR BF TO SAY HE WOULD SLEEP WITH FRIENDS IF SINGLE?My boyfriend has been talking to a girl who he met online. He said she is only a friend but he would sleep with her if he was single. He tried to justify this by saying he would sleep with any of his friends if he was single and they wanted to as it is just sex. He said that all men think like this. My question is… is this true that all men think like this and he is just being honest, or is it a strange comment? KEEPING PHOTO ALBUM OF EXMy fiancé recently got some of his old belongings from his parent's home as they're currently going through a move. In the items was a photo album of him and his long term ex who we happen to have had issues over in the past. I found the photo album hidden in a wardrobe after he told me “yuck, they can go in the bin”. My question is, do you think keeping photos of an ex is a red flag and why do you think he'd want to keep them? Susie ain't getting any younger and she wants to prepare for the footwear of her future and find out why older gals wear flats. We learn about a man who has made it his job to pick up the excrement left by dogs on a hiking trail and shame their owners. We discuss the Steve Martin documentary and his storied career as a standup comedian and an actor, and debate whether he has some romance issues that need to be sorted. Susie found out another wild fact about her favorite movie and Interstellar and we can't quit laughing. We learn the importance of middle names and Susie is sure to offend with her hot take about certain styles. Folks are mad that their favorite yogurt was made from cows, and we are weirdly not sympathetic. Plus, we hear about a "vegan" bakery that sold Dunkin' donuts and pretended they were not from animals.
