Bishop Fox researchers reverse-engineered the encryption protecting SonicWall SonicOSX firmware, enabling them to access its underlying file system for security research. They presented their process and findings at DistrictCon Year 0 and released a tool called Sonicrack to extract keys from VMware virtual machine bundles, facilitating the decryption of VMware NSv firmware images. This research builds upon previous work, including techniques to decrypt static NSv images and reverse-engineer other encryption formats used by SonicWall. Dana will be 54 on Mar 1st, 2025 and is 5'2 at 110 lbs. She started IF on SEPT 5, 2023, after learning about it on a podcast focusing on Alzheimer's / dementia prevention/mitigation. She was listening to that podcast b/c she lost both parents-in-law to this horrible disease. Within 1 week of starting IF, she remembers saying out loud to her husband, “I feel fantastic. I don't think I'll ever want to stop doing this.” She never had a weight problem but suffered from a horrible sugar addiction and was raised on UPFs and LOVED sugar, especially chocolate, since she was 3 years old. Old. She used sugar/chocolate and UPFs her whole life as a way to soothe, celebrate, comfort, connect, etc. and has struggled with emotional eating FOREVER. Since she never really struggled much with her weight and didn't drink alcohol or smoke cigs, she always justified the emotional eating with, “No big deal - it's my one vice.” However, her father died at 51 of a massive heart attack, as did his father and his brother, so CVD runs in her family. On Easter of 2016, she had just binged her son's Easter candy. She was watching Dr Phil when she saw an episode about “SKINNY FAT” people - she had a significant epiphany and started a program called “28-day shred”, which was paleo eating and lost 10 lbs (going from 128-118), then took 1 day off and did another round losing six more lbs. She only ate sugar in those 60 days once but was miserable and felt weak -she couldn't keep eating that way. So she stopped and slowly started consuming too much sugar and UPFs again. Tracey is 54 years old and lives in Iowa. She is married to her high school sweetheart and the love of her life. They have 3 grown daughters and 3 granddaughters. Family is a huge part of her “why” for finally deciding in 2022 that it was time to focus on her physical health and prioritise her well-being. In her school days, Tracey was fit and athletic. Her daily activities covered the poor eating habits she developed in her teen years. Once college came, the activity decreased, and poor food choices continued; 30 years of yo-yo dieting followed. Tracey was always looking for a quick fix and focused solely on the scale and her appearance. She now reflects and understands the abuse she put her body through for years. Tipping the scales in late 2019 at almost 200 pounds on her 5'4” frame, fatigue, joint pain and pre-diabetes were taking its toll. Tracey and her husband were empty nesters and new grandparents, and she began to realize her lifestyle would keep her from enjoying the best years of her life ahead of them. Her mindset was shifting, and a journey was underway. She had no idea how much healthier and happier her future was about to become. When she reached out to her physician one more time for help, she was told if she couldn't go more than a couple hours before getting “hangry”, she shouldn't consider intermittent fasting and maybe try the Mediterranean diet. That conversation planted a seed for intermittent fasting because, after all, if Tracey is told she can't do something, she tends to think to the contrary. Over the next couple of years, she discovered Gin Stephens and Dr. Fung, read their books and then tucked them away until August 2022, when her mindset was fully on board for finally making a lifestyle change. She got the books out again and began her true IF journey. Along the way she discovered podcasts and Facebook groups, which led her to The Fasting Highway. To date, Tracey has lost almost 60 pounds, gained numerous NSV's and turned her health around! She lives an active life with her husband of 32 years and can now keep up with her family! She practiced dental hygiene for 15 years and in 2020, made a career change to the business side of dental where she became a practice manager at a dental office. She enjoys long walks, landscaping, listening to podcasts and spending as much time with her family. Tracey considers herself one blessed lady! Kiri is a 43-year-old registered nurse, professional dancer, mango farmer and mother of two girls 12 and 14. She resides in a small town called Kununurra, on Miriwoong country in the remote East Kimberly of Western Australia. Kiri was the chubby baby who turned into the even chubbier toddler, becoming the obese child who transitioned into the desperately dieting teenager and adult. At 13 years of age weighing 93kgms/205 pounds (172cms/ 5.7' tall), she embarked on her first diet- Weight-Watches and so began the lifelong battle of the diets and calorie restriction. Like many, she had tried it all, from low to high fat, low to high carb, vegetarian to keto and everything in between. Her highest weight was in 2008 at 110kgms/198 pounds and after the birth of her second child she made the commitment to take control of her weight once again. Years of restrictive diets and excessive exercise regimes, saw her maintain her weight around 75kgms/165 pounds, but as Kiri headed into mid age, years of restrictive diets and exercise along with a high cortisol lifestyle, meant weight management was becoming harder and less sustainable. Other ailments such as skin disorders, osteoarthritis and carpal tunnel were becoming more prominent and debilitating. In October 2020 she was discussing health issues to a good friend and a TFH FB group member. The friend directed her to read Fast Feast Repeat by Gin Stephens and The Fasting Hwy by Graeme Currie. Having always been invested in healthcare and deeply interested by science, she went on to devour these books and several more, having never looked back. Becoming Adipose adapted was a challenging process for Kiri. She started with 16:8 and white knuckled it for 3 months, watching her weight go up 3.5kgms/7.7 pounds in that time. Without the support of The Fasting Highway Facebook group, she is doubtful as to whether she would have made it through the first three months. Although she only lost 7kgms/15.5 pounds with IF, the inches and NSV are many. Freedom from demonizing food has helped heal her relationship with food and herself and gives her the extra time to work on being her best self.
