I am a person who lost 60 kg (132 pounds) and successfully kept it off. I will tell you exactly how I did it, and what it is like to live an intermittent fasting lifestyle. I cover my journey, about an ordinary Australian bloke who has found a way to lose weight that is sustainable. Along the way, I found some amazing health benefits as well. I interview dozens of others, who wanted to try it for themselves and have had similar success. I am Graeme Currie from Western Australia author of the best seller The Fasting Highway it can be found on Amazon in both Kindle and Paperback.

The Fasting Highway podcast is an incredible resource for anyone practicing intermittent fasting or looking to learn more about it. Hosted by Graeme, this podcast stands out because it allows guests to tell their stories without interruption, creating a platform that is both inspiring and informative. Graeme's approach to hosting is commendable as he doesn't dwell on himself, but rather focuses on his guests and keeps the conversations moving. This podcast deserves 5 stars for its ability to motivate and keep listeners on track with their fasting journey.

One of the best aspects of The Fasting Highway podcast is the variety of guest stories that are shared. Hearing about how others have overcome similar struggles with weight and found success through intermittent fasting is incredibly helpful and motivational. Each episode provides a unique perspective and offers valuable insights that listeners can apply to their own journeys. The interviews are in-depth, allowing guests to share their experiences, tips, and wisdom. Graeme's skillful interviewing style ensures that the conversations flow smoothly while keeping the focus on the guests.

On the downside, it would be beneficial if there were more episodes dedicated to providing educational content about intermittent fasting. While the guest stories are inspiring, having episodes that delve into the science and methodology behind fasting would enhance the overall educational value of this podcast. More in-depth discussions about different fasting protocols, potential challenges, and strategies for success could benefit listeners who are new to intermittent fasting or seeking further guidance.

In conclusion, The Fasting Highway podcast is an excellent resource for those interested in intermittent fasting or looking for motivation and support along their journey. Graeme's genuine passion for helping others shines through in each episode as he shares his own story and allows guests to do the same. While there is room for additional educational content, this podcast offers valuable insights from real people who have found success with intermittent fasting. Overall, it's a must-listen for anyone embarking on their own fasting journey or seeking inspiration.

Inspired, she embraced fasting and quickly transitioned from a 16:8 schedule to 20:4, leading to a dramatic health transformation. She successfully lost over 30 kg, reducing her weight from 90 kg to a stable 59-60.5 kg, and has maintained it for over two years. “Since I was a young gal with two thin blonde sisters, and I, a strong, muscled and dark-haired lass, I grew up with body dysmorphia. I didn't know it was OK to be different. I was never obese. I never was fat. I was just muscled. Pudgy. Fluffy. I went to college, discovered sports, and my skin felt wonderful. That began a lifelong love affair with/ exercise. I also found the ice cream cooler at the end of the cafeteria. I might've put on a little weight in college! Maybe not the freshman 15, but more padding!!! After college, I was selected for a job on a cruise ship as a working journalist and had a wonderful time sailing worldwide.  I was terrified about gaining weight with all the gorgeous food they had. And I had a wine budget formy dining room table guests! After the ship, I travelled around by myself overseas.  Back in the states, I did several jobs before meeting my forever fellow. We moved to the West Coast, married, and had two children.    I was challenged to maintain a weight of 140- 150 pounds during this time. At 5 feet 2 inches, that is just too much for me.I had tried Weight Watchers back on the East Coast and tried it again, counting everything I ate, weighing, measuring, and wondering when my next snack would be. Well, it worked until 2020, when it didn't work. I found my way to intermittent fasting through Gin Stephens. That was back in 2021, November 6, to be exact, is the day I started.  I jumped on the wagon right then. I am the “pull off the Band-Aid kind of gal”, and I plunged into fasting between 16 and 18 hours. I began right away with the clean fast cause Gin schooled me.  I had impressive results and fell short of my goal of 125. When I started, I weighed 142, I think. And when I weighed in at 125, I had shed 17 inches of body fat. That was from November 2021 to February 2022. Yup! right through the holidays, ha ha! My first interview with Graeme (# 141 in 2022) shares that journey and success. Today, with Graeme, I wish to share…how I navigated open heart surgery and kept my fasting life alive…as the medical staff cheered and took notes!!To join the Patreon Community. Karen is 65 years old and has tried justabout every diet you can think of – The Scarsdale Diet, Atkins and keto diets, Weight Watchers, Noom, the Cabbage Soup, Healthy Inspirations, grapefruit diet, Whole30, Slim-Fast, South Beach, Green Smoothie Diet, Nutrisystem, hCG – if you've heard of it, Karen probably tried it!   Some of these diets brought Karen temporarysuccess, and others caused her to gain weight or slow her metabolism.  None of them were sustainable, and the weightalways crept back. One day in the summer of 2020, Karen was perusing Facebook and saw a photo of her sister-in-law, Dedra Campbell.  Karen thought Dedra had posted a “Throwback Thursday” photo, as her sister-in-law looked young, slim, and glowing.  Karen was shocked to learn the photo was recent, so she immediately called her sister-in-law to find out what she did to lose weight and seemingly age backwards.  Dedra told her the secret was IntermittentFasting brought up negative thoughts and feelings in Karen.  In Karen's mind, fasting = deprivation and hunger.  However, with her sister-in-law's encouragement, she listened to the basics of the program and bought the book she recommended, “Fast.Feast.Repeat.” by Gin Stephens.  Karen read the book and said she would try it for one day to see how it went.  On August 13, 2020, Karen did a clean 18/6 fast, found it to be effortless, and the rest, as they say, is history.  Karen was invited to Graeme's group, The Fasting Highway, by Dedra after another IF guru closed her Facebook group and moved to another platform.  Karen had been fasting for not quite a year when she joined The Fasting Highway.  Karen had only lost 10 pounds by this time, but was encouraged and inspired by Graeme, his book, and fellow group members to stay the course and trust the process. Karen realised that her weight loss journey was her own, and she could not compare herself to others. Karen is 5'5” and her highest weight ever was 208 pounds.  She could not bend over to tie her shoes at that weight and was always out of breath.  She also suffered from sleep apnea.  Karen's IF starting weight was 175.4 pounds, and she set her goal weight at 160 pounds (because she didn't think that at herage, being post-menopausal, having T2D, and being insulin resistant, she could get below that weight).  However,on July 3, 2023, Karen weighed 149 pounds, a weight she hadn't seen in almost 20 years.  Best thing – there wasno struggle to get there!  Yes, it did take almost 3 years to lose the weight, but the point is – she lost it withintermittent fasting when nothing else worked! It's now been almost 5 years since Karen started intermittent fasting, and her current weight is 142 pounds.  She sometimes gets as low as 138 pounds, bouncing between that number and 142 pounds.  Karen went from a size 12 (US) to wearing sizes 4 and 6.  Intermittent fasting gave Karen theconfidence that she would never have to lose weight again – and for the first time in years, she doesn't have 5 different clothing sizes in her closet.  She donated all her “big” clothes to charity, knowing she'd never need them again.  Another personal win is that Karen decidedto embrace her greys and, as a result, cut all the hair colour out.  She would never have had theconfidence to do this at her higher weights! To join the Patreon Community. Fur Mum to two Aussie Shepherds, Savannah & Angelica. I own and run my own business selling energy cleansing &lifting products, and I was a hairdresser in my past life. I've had weight issues my whole life, at 17 I was diagnosed with PSOS, now at the other end in peri/menopause and on HRT.I went through 18 cycles of IVF to have my beautiful boys. Atmy highest weight (after IVF and the baby's) | was 130kg (290lbs) and at my lowest 55kg (121lbs). IF Starting Date: 3rd October 2022SW: 91.6kg (201lbs)CW: 64kg (141lbs)First Time Lost: 27kg (60lbs) Second Time Loss: 14kg (30lbs)Height: 160cm (5'3”)I lost 27kg (60lbs) from 3rd October 2022 till September 2023, doing clean IF, then slowly with mostly 4 4-hour daily windows and some slack food choices like casual drinking wine, as well as a couple of big life moments full of stress Iregained 14kg (30lbs) of my weight by 26 August 2024, when my weight was 78kg (171lbs). Strict OMAD (1 hour mostly a day), alcohol free, and cardio exercise 5 times a week till mid March 2025, got my weight back to 70kg (154lbs). I felt the weight lost the second time around was a lot harder and ahell of a lot slower. My weight loss got stuck around 70kg (154lbs) for over 7 weeks, so I reluctantly started ADF for the first time on 24th March 2025., Wednesday, Friday, with OMAD Sundays, I lost 6kg (13lbs) in 4 weeks. I never thought I could or wanted to do ADF, but I like it now. I've always cleaned fasted and don't do the 500-calorie down day option. So here I am, 2 years and six ish months into my IF lifestyle, back to 64kg (141lbs) in my second round of maintenance, alcohol free, working on muscle tone as well as cardio, and myself physically, emotionally and spiritually daily

Never really bothered about the fact that mid-life with gain was happening. Took it as part of life, and the expanding belly was just something to live with. Lockdown brought a realisation that I was overweight and unfit. Health problems had started with knee pain and fluid building up around the knee. The doctor didn't suggest that it was a weight issue causing this, but lockdown walks with my family were painful and quite humiliating. My son commented about my weight jokingly, but that was part of the drive for change. Could not shift the weight with exercise and had not considered diet, as I didn't think they worked from what I knew. Xmas 2020/21 was when I found Graeme Curries book The Fasting Highway and podcast. I'm not sure what internet search brought me to you, but the front cover was exactly what I needed to see. Dramatic change was possible.Read The Fasting Highway daily and stick religiously to your suggested 16:8 routine with black coffee. She came across the work of Dr Jason Fung, a Canadian nephrologist and world-leading expert on intermittent fasting for type 2 diabetics. Having been taught throughout her career that type 2 diabetes is a long-term, chronicdisease that worsens with time, the results from Dr Fung's work were phenomenal. Sarah went on to look at intermittent fasting as a solution to New Zealand'sgrowing crisis and so spent time researching and learning about fasting as an option in her work. Now, with over 6 years of experience working with clients and intermittent fasting, Sarah has a fantastic knowledge base on IF and some phenomenal and life-changing stories and case studies to show the incredible health benefits of IF.   From complete reversal of type 2 diabetes, dramatic weight loss, improvement in fatty liver and blood pressure to improved sleep, wellbeing and energy, the results speak for themselves.  Sarah continues to work in a couple ofclinics in South Auckland, supporting many patients in starting their IF journey and improving their health outcomes.  She also runs a Facebook group with over 10000 members, which is growing daily. I walk the dog morning and night.Often, I go for a longer hike or beach visit on the weekend, and I go to the Gym 3-4 times a week.I'm pretty weights-focused because a) I like it and b) I've been warned that higher cardio intensity workouts increase/spike cortisol in women, and cortisol is not our friend.I have always been health conscious, even though I haven't eaten well or liked the way I looked/weighed more.So this episode brought health into even sharper focusAnd my fasting is at the core of that. I've never been a big breakfast eater, so that is the period when I'm able to extend my windowI feel better when I fast and look forward to continuing the fasting lifestyle.Melanie was a guest on the Podcast way back in episode 2.

Within 1 week of starting IF, she remembers saying out loud to her husband, “I feel fantastic. I don't think I'll ever want to stop doing this.”  She never had a weight problem but suffered from a horrible sugar addiction and was raised on UPFs and LOVED sugar, especially chocolate, since she was 3 years old. Old.  She used sugar/chocolate and UPFs her whole life as a way to soothe, celebrate, comfort, connect, etc. and has struggled with emotional eating FOREVER.  Since she never really struggled much with her weight and didn't drink alcohol or smoke cigs, she always justified the emotional eating with, “No big deal - it's my one vice.”  However, her father died at 51 of a massive heart attack, as did his father and his brother, so CVD runs in her family.  On Easter of 2016, she had just binged her son's Easter candy. She was watching Dr Phil when she saw an episode about “SKINNY FAT” people - she had a significant epiphany and started a program called “28-day shred”, which was paleo eating and lost 10 lbs (going from 128-118), then took 1 day off and did another round losing six more lbs.  She only ate sugar in those 60 days once but was miserable and felt weak -she couldn't keep eating that way.  So she stopped and slowly started consuming too much sugar and UPFs again.  IF has helped her sugar cravings as well as a MILLION other NSV's.  Our Patreon Supporters Community -Join us!Please consider joining the Fasting Highway Patreon community. I am a lifelong Nashvillian, 74 years old, mother of our daughters, three nurses, and an elementary teacher. I have 13 grandkids and six great-grandkids.  FAMILYI grew up in a large Catholic family with six kids in the 1950s. I had a great childhood. My father was a doctor, and my mother was a nurse but a full-time homemaker after getting married.  CHILDHOOD I was always involved in the academic side of things, and my mother kept me super busy with after-school and summer activities (I guess to keep me out of trouble because I was a very social person). I had three brothers who teased me constantly about my weight even though I was not that big. I went out for sports, but I was continually cut, so I focused on academics, music lessons, and the creative and literary arts and pretty much excelled at most things I got into.  MARRIAGEAfter getting married at 21 and having four children in 9I had picked up about 20 pounds (when I got married, I was probably about 25 pounds overweight). So, I was not overly obese but just never felt comfortable in my clothes.  CAREERMy career was in medical publications, nonprofit writing, public relations, and special events.  STATS—- 5'7”… 74 years YOUNG… SW: 218CW:150-ish PROTOCOLI used a 20/4 protocol to lose. I opened my window at about 330 every day.  I got the last 25 off in five months by “clean fasting” after I had a three-year plateau during which time I was probably fasting 50% of that time, but, again, it was not a “clean fast.” (I had coconut oil or butter & heavy cream & artificial sweeteners in my coffee).  NSVsMy medical lab work is in perfect alignment, and I don't take any medication. My body is much stronger, and I feel s0 much more energetic, healthy, clear-minded, and positive. The brain fog I was having in my late 60s, as well as some depression, is completely gone.  I went from size 18 jeans to size 10 and from XL/XXL tops to mediums.  This is the first time (even as a child) I have been in a “normal” BMI range. I have dozens and dozens of non-scale victories, including not being embarrassed in a bathing suit, having the stamina to walk over 4 miles at a time with no fatigue, having a lot more confidence when interacting with people, and wearing clothes that look cute on me. I have skin tags that have disappeared, joint inflammation that has lessened immensely, clearer skin, and thicker hair. The list is almost endless. I NEVER counted calories, points, or macros. I guess I am in maintenance because this is where my body has been since last May. I weighed the exact weight I was in the eighth grade. I am 20 pounds less than when I graduated high school and 25 pounds less than when I married. Despite my age, I have more energy today than 20 years ago.Our Patreon Supporters Community -Join us!Please consider joining the Fasting Highway Patreon community. I'm Nic,  Raised in rural New Zealand, from a sheep and beef farming background. Big family, active, always outside helping on the farm or riding horses. Dad was starting horses all the time; we all rode as kids, tho I'm the only one who carried on after we went to high school, travelling to town daily. We're all fit and trim, kids. I'm into my early 20s, though far from heavy. I did my first stint with WW and starved the weight off, counting calories. I am still super active, riding and working on farms with an entire working dog team. Then, one day, I just started eating and couldn't stop. Weight back on…..I did that again in my early 30s; by then, it had gotten quite big. I lost the weight quickly…. Maintenance? No……. I gained it all again.  Again, around 40, I did the same….. exercising too, over and above the farm work and horses. Each time, WW was utterly obsessed with food and starving all the time.  I'm approaching my 50th birthday at my highest weight, and I hate it. I gave away so many fabulous clothes, as I had given up. 51, huge …… and one of the photos I hate the most. When my family met for lunch, I had nothing to wear, nothing fit, and I was getting bigger by the day…… Those photos disgust me.  Around eight months later, I saw something about 16:8. I thought I could try that, as I rarely ate early anyway; I was probably too full from the night before……. I decided if I didn't do something, the foods I was eating were going to either kill me early or make me ill. I knew I couldn't continue the way I was; something had to 'give'. So I started. At first, I still ate three times over those eight hours. I didn't know about any FB pages, books, apps, etc.  I cut out all 'crap' like obvious sugars and chose lowish carbs. Unfortunately, I didn't weigh at the start! I rarely weigh, but I think I was close to 90 kg, which is huge. I am 5'7 "in height.  I soon discovered there were FB pages, books, and podcasts! I can't recall when I joined those, but I quickly weeded out the ones that weren't for me.  What I liked about The Fasting Highway was its down-to-earth approach, book, podcasts, page, sharing, and support. I also appreciated the accountability to myself and the importance of sharing before-and-after pics. And here I am now, close to six years in. Donna D's comment on a recent post resonatedwith me, 'it's not all unicorns and rainbows' prompted me to do the podcast.  I'd felt that because my binge eating still plays a part, I'm rubbish at food choices when out of my routine….. I thought I couldn't share that; it wouldn't be productive to other people's journeys…. Then a friend said, 'Yeah, but it works for you,' and that made me stop and think—it does!  So that, along with Donna's comment on her post, leads me to share.  I lost about 20kg when we were locked in, then once I saw after that time, farming friends were gobsmacked, commenting, then commenting again, like they barely recognised me.  I stayed around the 70kg mark for a few years, if Istrayed too far with the food choices, I regrouped, remembering the mantra to "Trust the Process" and things soon lined up again.  Over the last couple of years, I've lost a bit more; I'm around 62-63kg now. As my diet evolved, I fasted a bit longer now, eating once or twice a day.  I took up cycling (I never had bikes as a kid) and cycled12km a day, which I loved, still do it, tho not as often, purely just 'time'. I still ride most days. Animals make you active, and they are all that chubby, too. It was what I ate, the contributor!  When I veer off my path, I'm desperate to regroup and get back on my road. Always, and that's the winner. I WANT to do it.  So, 'Do it' is a long game that is game-changing.  Our Patreon Supporters Community -Join us!Please consider joining the Fasting Highway Patreon community. Jim Peeler lives in Hickory, a small city in the foothills of North Carolina. He and his wife Diana have two adult children who live in the western NC mountains and one grandson. Jim is a financial controller for a logistics company. Jim has just passed his first fasting anniversary on February 1, 2025. This year has resulted in a loss of 73 pounds so far, and he plans to start maintaining soon within a range of 140 to 145 pounds. Now 64 years old, Jim has struggled with weight issues at least since the 5th grade of elementary school, at the age of ten. He has lost hundreds of pounds over the years, using various methods, but always gained back to an even higher level once the diet ended. The hope is that intermittent fasting will hold the key to finally losing significant amounts of weight for the last time.Looking back, Jim realizes that over his life, he had reached a tipping point roughly every 10 years, which prompted him tostart a serious weight loss attempt, with numerous attempts in between that never lasted very long. Jim successfully lost in these serious attempts, shedding more and more pounds each time, but the diet rollercoaster led him to heavier weights with each try until he hit a maximum weight of 245 pounds in late 2018. And at only 5 feet, 4 inches he was seriously morbidly obese. Through 2019 and 2020, he successfully reached150 pounds through calorie reduction and walking, but by 2024, he had once again risen to 215 pounds following a job change and the loss of his mother, among other stressful situations. He had heard of intermittent fasting sometimebefore but never seriously considered it until he decided to try it in February 2024. Since then, he has been fasting and is on the path to long-term maintenance thanks to intermittent fasting. Our Patreon Supporters Community -Join us!Please consider joining the Fasting Highway Patreon community. Bio By Joanne Gonwa I grew up in a home with a single mother and the stresses of financial insecurity, parental abandonment, and the emotional instability of my mother. I began at a young age to attempt to soothe my own emotional insecurities with food. This pattern of using food to placate my emotions has continued throughout my life. I felt trapped in endless cycles of diets/rebound weight gain as decades of life seasons passed.  In April 2018 at age 64 I heard about IF and after some research   I began my IF journey reaching my lowest adult weight since my early 20s.  I sustained this loss until 2020 when I experienced several major life stressors that I allowed to send me back to old ways of coping regaining all the weight I had lost. In 2021 after viewing a family photo made of our 40th wedding anniversary I recommitted to myself and resumed IF. In ten months, I lost 42 pounds, and I have maintained that loss to this day. I'm Amy, and I found IF right as the world was starting to catch on to the fact that COVID-19 was about to hit us: Hitting Asia (1st), then Europe (2nd) and N. American (Next), I felt I had hit an all-time low in energy levels towards the end of 2019. My weight was creeping up, I was anxious, my skin was dry and red, and my joints hurt - it was a hard realization to have. As a successful consultant, my business was going well; my kids were young and busy. The time I would be spending on myself was pretty limited. I knew something needed to give. I had consistently worked out for years but had only limited results. While I had that as a good habit, things like work, travel and everyone else's needs had taken priority, leaving me with a body that wasn't my own.  I had crept up into the 190s (which was aligned with what I had gained pregnant many years before). I knew I had to make changes. I started by shifting small things in my diet (with limited success), and then, by chance at the hair salon, I heard about IF. I had heard about IF before, but it was clear, that I had not 'really listened' (and yes, all in the middle of Covid).   Like many of you, my relationship with diets and eating had been a struggle for a while - with limited results. I knew I needed to try something new. So, in May 2020, I started IF. I read Dr Fung's book (first), then somehow saw some before/after pictures of Graeme Currie on Instagram (as I was doing research)and then joined Gin's FB group (ultimately reading DDD, and FFR) - I am not entirely sure on the full order of events to how I found your story. Frankly, Gareme Curries's pictures and story were so inspiring—it was one of the reasons I decided to join.   I fast every day - I am usually 18:6, but I vary. I have lost 50lbs, and I have been maintaining most of it (but have had some challenges with the introduction to HRT in terms of some gain). My journey and story continue as I adjust to perimenopause. Amy   Our Patreon Supporters Community Please consider joining the Fasting Highway Patreon community. Hello, I'm Tara, and I'm from Weyburn, Saskatchewan, Canada. I will have been fasting for four years on January 17, 2025.   I am a 48-year-old mother of four children, ages eleven to twenty-two. Even with university and starting their first jobs, even the older ones are often home, and family life continues to be as busy as ever.   Over the past 33 years, I have gained and lost weight with a 97lb range. (44kg) I battled with my weight on and off in my teens, starting around age thirteen and escalating when I left home for university.   Before my first pregnancy, I lost 65lbs; I then gained and lost 40-60lbs with each pregnancy.  My goal is to be healthy and active for many years . My youngest is only eleven, and I hope to be able to fully enjoy the time we have left with him at home. I also hope to have grandbabies to play with in the future.   Professionally, I am an elementary teacher. I've taught kindergarten to grade twelve. For the past 15 years, I've taught grade one. Fasting gives me the energy to be active with my students all day. Intermittent fasting is an excellent fit for school life, as there is rarely time to sit down and eat.   Exercise has been an essential part of my journey. I benefit physically from exercise, but it is also a vital outlet for my mental health. The more I fast and move my body, the more energy I have.   One of my favourite things about IF is that we never have to start over. We may shorten or lengthen our fasting lengths or eating windows, but we are always fasting!    My current battles involve perimenopause symptoms and issues with different migraine medicines. I am hopeful that IF will be a tool that will help me make it through perimenopause and menopause.   One of the key elements of my success has been surrounding myself with like-minded people focused on weight loss and health. I have a fantastic group of friends on Facebook who have been together for about 12 years. We all have different nutritional and fitness approaches but we understand the struggle and support each other daily.   I have a wonderful Snapchat group of IF friends who discuss protocols, fitness, and nutrition. I'm a part of the fantastic Fasting Highway FB group and the DDD online community. I don't post a lot in those groups, but I learn a lot from the experiences shared by others.

Teaching art classes as art director of drama productions for four plays in which the three older children were actively involved with set design and prominent speaking roles. Organizing and speaking at ladies' conferences two times a year. The husband has several job changes, one with a lengthy commute.   COVID need to say anymore?  Youngest daughter loses the ability to use her legs intermittently for about a year, which involved lots of specialists with super scary treatment plans.   The oldest daughter has severe vitamin D deficiency, losing all of her hair and experiencing severe exhaustion during school, work and soccer.  Mother-in-law broke her hip twice and is diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer, which involved her having a brain tumour removed and subsequent radiation and chemotherapy. Two of her daughters-in-law shared her care, one of whom was Juliette.  Oldest son captains in two varsity sports , football and wrestling, made for year-round hectic sports schedules.  The same son gets a severe concussion, making him unable to work or go to school for several months. There was a personality change for a time, which was terrifying.   Husband had five surgeries on his eyes, two of which were emergencies and weren't guaranteed to save his eyesight as the optical nerve was damaged.   Starts working at Kohl's 3 days a week just to get out of the house and see people.  Family takes an epic road trip across the country to see the Colorado Rockies.  The oldest child has a cyst on her spine, which creates such excruciating agony that her pain can't be managed from home. Lots of MRIs and specialists and no real answers until… leukemia diagnosis.  Daughter starts her 2-3 year treatment plan for leukemia and all the hard stuff that comes with that.  Juliette begins running and training for 5K races, a sprint triathlon, a half marathon and her favourite, obstacle course runs.   Just before this podcast, her closest friend of 20 years was diagnosed with a stage four brain tumour.   Perimenopause ramps up, making for an unusually cranky mom and wife on occasion.   Celebrating 26 years of marriage in June!  How did she stay so disciplined with IF through all of this? It is because she never could have done 90% of those things prior to IF. She was so ill with a host of issues (see episodes 40 and 185 for her full IF story) that she was often bedridden and in a wheelchair. IF gave her the fuel and health to thrive amid all these crazy hardships and adventures.  It can do the same for you. She wants to Remember not to let your current circumstances keep you from “seizing the day” wherever you are treading water in your life.

John Beaver, now 55 years old, came to Intermittent Fasting in August of 2020 – partly searching for a solution to his increasingly troublesome migraines and partly looking for some change to a lifelong struggle with weight and obesity.   The results were beyond expectations on both fronts!  The migraines have faded to infrequent occurrences, and his weight began to drop off almost immediately, dropping from a beginning weight of 293 pounds to less than 180 by April of 2022.  As life went on, and John moved forward into more of a maintenance mode, his weight settled back up just a bit in sync with his lifestyle.   By 2023, he maintained in the 195-200 pound range consistently while typically working with a 5-7 hour eating window, guided by a sense of flexibility around living life – tempered with the knowledge that he had changed his life with this new way of coexisting with food. He first appeared on The Fasting Highway podcast in Episode 54 during his weight loss phase in March of 2021, and later for a touchpoint in July of 2023 on Episode 183. John is the proud father of two sons.  His older son has also been an intermittent fasting success story – having lost over 100 pounds by changing this lifestyle since 2020.  John's younger son lived with severe cerebral palsy and has been a massive part of the “why” for all the changes in his life. I was down to 128. During these last 2 years, my weight has gone between 129 and 132. The highest it has been was 134. I have been weighing daily to determine what foods cause water gain. My clothes still fit the same. Doing a 40-42 hr fast is the only way I can lose the water weight. It seems more challenging for me to do the longer fasts now. With my 60 years of diet history, I don't want to find myself back up in weight again. IF is my way of life , and it has been so since August 2017.

BIO  I'm 71 years old & have been dieting since the age of 9! Yes, 9 years old. It's hard to believe, but it's true. My mum had taken me to our family GP with concerns about my development as I was somewhat more significant than my peer group. If more thought had been given, then both mum & the GP would perhaps have realised I was at the start of puberty...earlier than most, but accurate. My early puberty resulted in decades of see-saw dieting, following in the footsteps of my mum, who was a serial dieter...I hadn't known anything other than Mum on a diet. Like so many, I had a hundred & one reasons to diet & can probably tell you my weight at different stages of my life. However, my dad dying of Alzheimer's in 2012 was a massive factor in my decision not to be in the same situation in my older years...at this stage, I was almost 60! It was time to change all aspects of my life, including sleep, nutrition, movement & mindset. A lower-carb way of life was part of those changes & today, I feel amazing. But a diagnosis of cancer last year made me realise if I hadn't worked so hard, my recovery post hysterectomy & subsequent treatment may have had an entirely different outcome. Bio By Christine Field Rhode Island USA I have been intermittent fasting for just under seven years, in addition to trying countless other methods of weight loss. Not all those years were successful because I was doing it wrong and cheating the system. Well, cheating myself is more like it.  Initially, I did it wrong. Unclean. Uneducated about how to properly fast, etc., the same things you hear your guests say. I have been overweight my entire life. As a child, I was always the biggest one. I believe that I suffer from insulin issues that go undetected through typical medicine. I have strong reactions to sugar to this day. It's awful. And I still hope to get it out of my life entirely someday.  My highest weight was 358 pounds. My current weight is 178. I am 5'8”. I went from a size 26 Womens to a size 6. It's genuinely UNREAL to live in this body.  A couple years ago, I bought Gin's book and started listening to her podcasts. That led me to your podcast. Although I love you both, I relate more to your life story in some ways.  I clean fast every day. I have been doing this for about 3 years now. I give myself a 4-6 hour window. I now incorporate two days of shorter fasts because I was getting too thin for my frame.  My tastes have changed. My life has changed.  Fasting reconnected me with life again. Taking the food away and all the accompanying noise put me in a place of openness and readiness to live my best life. I glow. I wake up every day ready to tackle life. I started noticing that the later I ate, the less refreshed I woke up, even if I had fasted.  You often speak about how your weight affects your parenting. I resonate with that deeply because I have three sporty children. I coach basketball. I run a football league. I want to be agile and fit. I want to be a great example of health and fitness to them and other children as well. I am that now.  Since our last talk, I break my fast most days with fermented food. I crave it now if I don't have it. STRANGE! I follow that up with a protein, then vegetables, then carbs.  I am imperfect. I accept that much now. There is no perfect plan. You live and do your best and that's what I do. I do not kill myself working out anymore. This is also new. I set a step goal for myself and enjoy walks whenever I can. I also do a strength video every other day. I fit it in wherever I can.  Another new tip- I've stopped thinking so much about what I don't feel like doing. I just do it. The thinking screws me all up!! Our Patreon Supporters Community Please consider joining the Fasting Highway Patreon community. It has been great for all who have joined. She enjoys taking complicated medical information and presenting it in a creative and easy-to-understand manner for the general public. She is currently writing a book on fasting called Fast Well Feast Well and will be releasing the content of the book in a free weekly newsletter called FastWell. Leslie was a healthy weight until her 30s when a stressful cross-country move caused her to suddenly gain 25 lbs (11kg). This is when her dieting history began. She tried Weight Watchers and other calorie-restrictive diets. Each time she lost some weight initially but then regained back even more. She tried keto in 2018 but found it too restrictive, losing only 10 lbs. and then plateauing. Then her dad passed away in January of 2022 from heart complications from having type 2 diabetes for 30 years. She got on the scale and found she weighed 180 lbs. (81 kg), which was 50 lbs. (23 kg) above her comfort weight. Her blood sugar numbers were pre-diabetic. She knew something had to change. She had heard about fasting from her sister. Also, her dad had reversed his diabetes through fasting in 2018 but this was too late since his heart damage was irreversible. She began doing OMAD in January of 2022 and faithfully did OMAD every day for 6 months but lost no weight or inches. Then on August 1st of 2022 she started ADF. She is now down 34 lbs., her blood sugar numbers are healthy again, her fasting insulin serum number is A+, and she has numerous NSVs. Graeme is now available for a private one-on-one coaching and mentoring session. He can help you with those burning questions, including how to get started or overcome issues, no matter what phase you are in on your intermittent fasting journey. As I take a break this week to celebrate my late father-in-law's life, we have a repeat episode with Erika Barnhart, who was on the podcast back in episode 212. At that point, Erika had lost a staggering 90 pounds -44 Kg in just ten months. It is an episode worthy of a relisten. We will be back next week with our regular schedule of guests. Show Notes from episode 212 Erika Barnhart is a 43-year-old salon consultant who resides in Pennsylvania with her husband and three dogs. She had been struggling with weight issues since childhood and was overweight throughout most of her life. Over many years, she has tried numerous diets since the age of 12, but her success was only temporary. Erika has always been fond of eating various foods, but she also enjoys eating in large quantities and feeling full. At the age of 13, she was diagnosed with high cholesterol and triglycerides but was never prescribed any medication. Then in early 2023, she realized that she was procrastinating on scheduling her annual physical because she knew that the doctor would become more persistent about beginning a series of statin medication due to her high cholesterol. She also suffered from sleep apnea, used a CPAP machine, and had been experiencing plantar fasciitis in her right foot, causing her to limp. She felt unnaturally old, defeated, and unhealthy for her age. She was ready to make a change. She began looking for a sustainable and cost-effective plan to become healthier. As well as not wanting to take any medications unless necessary.     Erika's work involves a hybrid environment, including working from home, local, and overnight travel. She attends many business luncheons and events, so finding something to fit into her ever-changing routine is essential.   In March 2023, Erika finally discovered the freedom she had been seeking through fasting, and within about ten months, she lost 87 pounds (39.5kg). Erika achieved this by practising various fasts and focusing on nourishing foods. She appreciates the flexibility of fasting and incorporates it into her routine frequently. She has tried several fasts, such as Intermittent Fasting, Alternate Day Fasting (ADF), and Modified Alternate. Day Fasting (MADF), and One Meal a Day (OMAD). Also, she occasionally includes 48-60-hour fasts. Fasting has helped Erika gain more clarity, perspective, and patience, and the best part is that fasting doesn't cost anything! The flexibility has also made it easy to work into her ever-changing schedule. She's also excited to incorporate some yoga and weight training as soon as she begins working towards achieving her goal body. She's also looking forward to hiking with her dogs once the weather improves in the spring. Our Patreon Supporters Community Please consider joining the Fasting Highway Patreon community. Born in the American Midwest (Michigan), Page did not grow up in a hotbed of nutritional enlightenment. Meat and potatoes were the rule, and processed and fast food abounded. Vegetables were sparse and generally boiled to an unidentifiable grey mush. As a kid, one of Page's favourite snacks was a peanut butter and butter sandwich on Wonder Bread, which was washed down with so much Coke that his spit would turn black. Thanks to a genetic predisposition to gain weight quickly and a turbulent home life, it's little wonder that Page was always the Fat Kid. As the Fat Kid, Page was relentlessly teased and bullied. Prone to emotional eating, Page grew fatter. He would periodically try the fad diet of the day, frequently losing weight, sometimes a lot of weight, but it always came back. School years passed, and Page started a career, married, and had kids. All the while, the years and the pounds added up. Eventually, Page reached his 50s, and the bill for a lifetime of poor health choices started to come due. Page was diagnosed as a wildly out-of-control type II diabetic, put on a host of medications, and commanded to lose weight. Obeying the conventional medical wisdom of the time, Page tried to lose weight via calorie restriction and exercise. Page became a gym rat, pushing himself to ever more extreme workouts. Amazingly, Page was able to lose over 100 pounds and reverse his type II diabetes. But it was too hard, being hungry and feeling deprived all the time. It just wasn't maintainable. Page suffered a severe leg injury while attempting his first marathon. Unable to work out, Page regained almost all the weight he'd worked so hard to lose. Eventually, Page's leg healed. But the prospect of living the rest of his life in a constant state of starvation was too much to bear. There had to be a better way. That was when Page discovered time-restricted eating. I live just north of the capital of Alabama, which is Montgomery. I want to say I'm retired, but my friends keep asking me to help them with their businesses. (Quality control) I'm 72 and am currently recovering from Knee Replacement surgery.  When I went to the surgeon in December 2023, he, of course, told me that my BMI was too high.I clocked in at 365, then. I'm 6'1".  I got serious in February about losing weight so I could have the surgery. My goal for surgery was 331.  I have a friend in Mississippi who has lost 145 doing IF, so I asked her all about it and then began to research it. I dove in, and by May, I was at 310.  I mostly did a 4:3 for the last two months of that. I would mix it up with OMAD and TMAD.  For years since turning 40, I have yo-yo dieted with South Beach, Atkins and every other craze.  IF has been the only thing that is easy for me to do.  I reached my second goal of 300 a few weeks ago.  Now, on to my third goal of 200. Then, to do IF for life.  Our Patreon Supporters Community Please consider joining the Fasting Highway Patreon community. Hi! I'm Bahar (B for short); I am 29 years old, a wife and mum to a 2-year-old and live in the UK. I work a full-time corporate job in London. Being Turkish, food is very important in our culture. I love cooking and experimenting with different recipes. I started fasting in March 2024 and have lost 17kg with intermittent fasting (nearly six months). I have always been conscious of my weight and put on weight over COVID-19 and during my pregnancy with my son. Following the birth of my son, I got up to my highest weight. I tried dieting and exercising, but this lasted for 2 months max. It was not sustainable. My brother mentioned intermittent fasting to me when my son was nearly 1. I didn't start fasting until almost a year later. I have enjoyed fasting and have started vlogging my journey on Instagram (@fastwithB) for accountability and to inspire others to start fasting, which I have been able to do as several family members have begun fasting. Episode 243 Audrey Scott -Four Years of living an intermittent fasting lifestyle and adapting to maintaining weight loss.

By Audrey Scott I have been Fasting since June 2020, aged 51, 4 months into the Pandemic. My weight had crept up again despite exercising 4 hours every morning to pass the time and try and keep the weight gain to a minimum. I weighed 230lbs at that point. I read Delay Don't Deny by Gin Stephens. I can't remember how I found her on the internet, but I bought her book on Amazon, and it resonated with me so deeply that I finally felt hopeful that I may have discovered a lifestyle that could work for me. With my Nursing background, I understood the concept of Insulin Resistance and suspected that I suffered from this as I'd dieted for over 20 years on and off.  I was slim as a child and always adored food, and I can remember feeling hungry a lot as a girl and not enjoying that sensation My weight gain started when I left home to train as a nurse, with shift patterns and feeling like I had no control over when I would next get to eat on shifts, I began the habit of overeating so I wouldn't experience hunger. I also discovered fast food and Alcohol and enjoyed the student lifestyle to the fullest!! I knew I was gaining weight but didn't weigh myself regularly as I didn't want to know.   This continued for years, I lost weight on a low fat diet after I had my first child only to regain again after I had my second daughter. I began to try to seriously address my weight gain in 2003 when I moved to the USA with my husband and family; at that point, I weighed 266 lbs, my highest recorded weight, and needed to lose some. I lost 40 lbs. That was the start of years of YoYo dieting before I found IF in 2020    I started on an 18/6 protocol, clean fasting from Day 1. I lost 2 lbs of water weight in the first week and nothing for three months! I persevered as I genuinely thought that something would be happening inside of me, and my clothes were getting loose. I had a woosh of a 2 lb loss in October and then lost weight steadily from that point on, about 1 lb per week.  In the December of that year, I started doing a Meatless Monday for the autophagy benefits, and I swiftly moved onto a Hybrid ADF Approach on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays with subsequent Up days and a 4/6 hour window on a Sunday, which means I can be socialable on the weekends with my family.   I have been maintaining my weight around the 170 lb mark for about 18 months, happily fasting with zero plans EVER to stop   I have been married happily for 28 years, have 2 precious adult daughters and two gorgeous rescue cats. I work part-time in a Secondary school as a Learning Support Assistant.  In my free time, I love being with family and friends, doing Zumba, moderate exercise, listening to podcasts, reading, and watching TV.  I love going on holidays/vacations. I try to cruise at least once a year and still fast on these trips, just adapting my windows to what suits you.  I am so grateful to have discovered Fasting; it has given me the tools to make me feel good about myself, and I love to look and feel healthy.

My name is Melanie Douglas. I live in Bangor, a seaside town in Northern Ireland. I'm 63 and married to John. Between us, we have 5 grown-up children and are expecting our 10th grandchild! I worked as a nurse for 35 years, before changing direction, becoming a Lay Pastor in our local church, before I retired last year! Since retiring, I have had the privilege of being a funeral celebrant … What an honour.. My battle, my torment with my weight, started like so many in my early teenage years…my mum was an amazing cook, and food was central to our family…huge portions, followed by ( IF we cleared our plates) sumptuous desserts…she would tell me when I was tired or grumpy, “ you need to eat”.. whipping out a packet of sweets, to pick me up…thus I learned the lie that sugar was my friend, my comfort, my go-to when life was hard…a deeply- ingrained belief that has sabotaged every diet I have ever tried…and I have tried them all..even becoming a Consultant for Slimming World ( akin to weight watchers) ..which showed me that calorie restriction does not work…I was in despair…true despair…I loved to be slim, longed to be free from the mental torment & Our Patreon Supporters Community Please consider joining the Fasting Highway Patreon community.       I am 67 and have lived in the beautiful Pacific Northwest in Oregon for 42 years.  I have three grown children and am blessed to be close to one son, his family, and my daughter.  My other son, his wife, and their family are just a short flight away in Nevada.  I am also proud of a new, sweet little dog named Hazel.   I have been retired from being a paraprofessional at a small K-12 school since 2013, where I worked for 18 years.  All of my kids attended this school, too.   I fill my time with various activities that I enjoy.  Number one is spending time with family.  I often see my son and family who live near me and spend time with my busy daughter whenever possible.  I travel with my son, who lives nearby, his family, and my daughter to various places in other parts of Oregon.  Whenever I visit my son and his family in Nevada, they take me to different points of interest near them.  I have a sister who lives in California that I am very close to that, I see twice a year.  We love spending time together and getting out in each area where we live to explore the sites.  I enjoy getting out in nature when I can and love taking in all the beauty of where I live.  I like to knit and read, and listen to audiobooks.  Great things to fill the time on a rainy Oregon day.  I also love to do video workouts with Get Fit With Rick, a membership platform that I belong to.  I've been a part of this group for three years, and he led me to IF.  He started an IF challenge with the group and had Laurie Lewis, a fantastic IF coach, on a talk with him. One thing led to another, and I am fasting one year later. After living most of my life on a diet roller coaster, I am very thankful to IF for helping me to be healthy as I age and to be able to maintain my weight.     Our Patreon Supporters Community Please consider joining the Fasting Highway Patreon community. Tonya Kortekaas lives in Pontiac, Michigan, with her husband, Michael, of 11 years. She is the mother of three adult sons and a “bonus” mom to Michael's three children. Tonya spent most of her adult life as a stay-at-home mom of 3 growing boys and self-employed as a portrait photographer.  She felt that her most important mission in life was to raise her children and give them all the care and love they deserved.  She has been good at putting her family before her own needs, but the costs of that have been not caring for her mind and body as she should.  As her children have become adults and she has had more time to work on herself, she has entered into the full time working world and currently works for Oakland University.  She enjoys outdoor walks, kayaking, biking, watercolour painting and coffee in her free time. Tonya has struggled with her weight since her early 20s. She realizes that emotional eating and overindulging in sweets have been her issues.   She has tried countless diets, which have allowed her to lose weight but eventually gain it all back and more over the years.  At her annual physical exam in March of 2022, she was confronted with the highest weight of her lifetime at 349 lbs. and a BMI of 51.  Her blood pressure was soaring to a dangerous high, and her blood tests showed she was pre-diabetic.  She knew at that moment it was time for a significant change. She was sick of living life with this ongoing weight struggle and longed deeply to be a “normal” "-sized person.  Little did she know that change was going to lead her to an intermittent fasting lifestyle and complete freedom from her struggles with eating.  She's lost 155 lbs over 26 months of her weight loss journey. Since being on the podcast in February of 2023, episode 161, Tonya has discovered the benefits of a carnivore lifestyle and has noticed numerous health benefits by cutting the sugar and processed foods out of her life.     Our Patreon Supporters Community Please consider joining the Fasting Highway Patreon community. Her husband, Neil, jumped on the fasting bandwagon a few years ago after seeing the fantastic results that Belle was getting with body re-composition and autophagy. They have different daily fasting schedules, but make it work. Fasting is a way of life for Belle now and just second nature.  She recently travelled to Italy with her daughter and managed to keep up a fasting routine on the go!  She often bends her fasting schedule to enjoy dinner with friends and a later eating window. Belle is here to talk about the “big picture” of fasting and how it has changed her total outlook on her way of eating. It is anything but a diet!

She has struggled with her weight for most of her life, which prompted her to go to college in 2006 to study nutrition and public health at Syracuse University. After graduating, she married and started her family before pursuing her career. She's been a stay-at-home mom while the kids were younger. She has always struggled with emotional eating. After a few traumatic events in her past, she reached her highest weight in 2017. At only 5'4" tall, she weighed in at 225 and felt like she constantly had to find clothing to cover up instead of what she wanted to wear. She was humiliated and desperately wanted a change. She tried practically every diet out there. During the fall of 2018, she decided to run to help lose weight since the calorie-restriction diets were not working. By the fall of 2019, she had completed her first marathon and had lost a good bit of weight; however, when she stopped the diet program, she regained it again. During the pandemic in 2020, she decided to pursue her career dream of becoming a health coach to help herself and others find happiness and freedom the way she desperately wanted to do on her own. After graduating from the Institute of Integrative Nutrition, she found she wanted to focus more on the science behind weight loss and pursued a certification with Primal Health Coaching. She found Intermittent Fasting there and began a 16:8 protocol in June of 2022. She stopped fasting due to stress in her life and found herself eating through her emotions. She regained some of what she lost, but then discovered Gin Stephens and the clean fast which led her to also find Graeme and the Fasting Highway. She is coming up on her new 1-year fast-iversary and is within 15 pounds of her goal weight. She's determined to help spread the word about how life-changing and beneficial IF can be! Bio By Sharon Mbabazi I am 37 years old and live in West Michigan, USA, with my wonderful husband and three beautiful children. They keep us very busy, and we are always on the go. I also work full-time as a data team leader for a company that provides strategic supply chain solutions to hospitals, banks, and other businesses in the surrounding areas.   I started my intermittent fasting journey at the end of June 2023 to lose 30 lbs/13.6 kgs. I had been steadily gaining weight since having our 3rd child in 2018 and was ready to take some steps to reverse the upward trend. I had tried counting calories and various exercise routines, and even though I would lose a little weight, it wasn't sustainable. I would always end up gaining back more than what I started with. I discovered IF when our wedding photographer, Tonya Kortekaas (featured in episode 161), shared her incredible story through social media. I contacted Tonya, who gave me excellent guidance on getting started. She recommended great resources, including The Fasting Highway book, podcast, and Facebook group. Yes, I had to put in the effort and hard work to start my journey, but her advice and those resources have genuinely played a key role in my success.   I gradually worked my way from a 16:8 window to 19:5 over about one month and have been steadily losing weight for the last year. I made some mistakes in the beginning (I was not clean fasting for the first week or so) but quickly learned and made adjustments along the way. I am currently down 39 lbs/17.7 kg and will soon be carefully transitioning into maintenance.  I am so thankful for everyone who shared their story so I could navigate my IF journey. I share my story, hoping it will do the same and inspire someone else. Our Patreon Supporters Community Please consider joining the Fasting Highway Patreon community. Kelly Frances Bio I am 63 years of age and live in Southern California, USA.  I have been fasting since March 2023 and have lost 53 lbs. My starting weight was 213 (I'm six feet tall), and my goal weight was 160, which I obtained and have maintained since October 2023.  I learned about The Fasting Highway book and this fantastic lifestyle from my longtime friend and co-worker Holly Rogers, a TFH online group member.  We went to dinner one evening when she was visiting, and I shared how frustrated I was with the weight I had gained during my husband's cancer illness in 2021 and his subsequent passing in December of 2022.  I used food as a comfort and coping mechanism for the stress of being his caregiver and, eventually, his widow.  It's so easy to get into unhealthy habits when you're dealing with such a traumatic event.  You can even justify it by calling it “comfort food”, but I was anything but comfortable in my own body.  Holly told me about the book and the online group, and I quickly ordered my copy of TFH on Amazon.  I loved the book; online support is paramount to my success. My protocol was always TMAD and 16:8, but there were times when I would hit a plateau when I would extend my fasts for longer to get the pounds budging again. Once I reached my goal weight and I was in maintenance mode, I had to adjust my eating and fasting windows to find my “sweet spot”. If I have overindulged during weekends or vacations, I have the tools to keep any weight gain in check. Flexibility is key!  I like to stay between 158-165 lbs. and not go over that.  I feel that I'm at my healthiest at 160 lbs. My “why” is my son Van.  He was 20 years old when his father died, and I needed to be healthy for him and, of course, for myself.  We need each other more than ever!  Our Patreon Supporters Community Please consider joining the Fasting Highway Patreon community. BIO: By Anita Downes I am 52 years old from Perth Western Australia. I have been doing IF since Nov 2021. I lost over 80 pounds in the first year. My why is my family, and curious to see what adventures we can get up to now that my body is able to join in all the fun. I bike ride with the kids; I walk the dog, and I lift small weights on the vibration plate.  I work part-time as a Support worker for young adults who have Autism and are non-binary or transgender. I'm still a stay-at-home parent for our kids, aged 5 and 12; I work during their school hours and some weekends when possible. The update is that since we last spoke nearly two years ago, in Sept 2022, I haven't changed in weight. I have hovered around the 77-80 kg mark and have tweaked and attempted ADF and all the other stuff. Facing the fact that I'm in maintenance 7-10 kg higher than I had hoped to be. My old goal was to weigh 70kg; honestly, I would still love to get my weight down to 75kg. But it may not be possible at the ripe age of 52. (166cm tall) I may have just let it go and let the BMI and the world of averages it is made out of let that go, too.   NSVS My doctor is pleased. I “m happier. I was in a bad mood constantly while I was obese. My kids aren't scared of me anymore. I can go on waterslides at amusement parks, roller skate, and keep up with these kids! I'm better at maintaining healthy boundaries with people, at work and in life, and I attribute that skill to eating within a specific time. I've shared about fasting with many friends and family and have seen so many of those take it up and live the fasting lifestyle to the extent they think they don't fast anymore - but they don't eat till almost midday. Many people thank me for sharing such a sustainable health option. Our Patreon Supporters Community Please consider joining the Fasting Highway Patreon community. Alison Pizanie is an elementary school teacher living in Medford, New Jersey. She is 51 years old, married to her wife Kim, and has two sons, Reid and Brady. Alison has struggled her entire life with obesity and emotional eating. Food and eating always felt like an obsession. Diets never worked for her, in terms of any real weight loss, but she did diet her way up to 245 pounds (111 kg). At this weight and shorter stature, she felt miserable, sick, and tired. In 2016, out of desperation, she had weight loss surgery, the vertical sleeve gastrectomy. She did lose 90 pounds (40 kgs)… but weight loss surgery works until it doesn't. By 2019, she was gaining her weight back rapidly despite following all of the post-surgical guidelines set by her doctors and nutritionist. Alison panicked and was confused about how to solve her regain issue. She gained about 20 pounds (9 kgs) before she found Delay, Don't Deny by Gin Stephens in early 2020. It took some time and tweaking, but Alison has lost all regain plus more, equaling about 25 pounds (11 kgs) lost with intermittent fasting! She is at a total weight loss of 101 pounds (46 kgs) and now weighs 144 pounds (65 kgs). She would now recommend intermittent fasting instead of weight loss surgery and plans on living an intermittent fasting lifestyle forever! Alison recently self-published a book sharing her journey and teaching others with bariatric surgery how to succeed with intermittent fasting after weight loss surgery. The book The Regain Remedy: Using Intermittent Fasting to Achieve Permanent Weight Loss After Bariatric Surgery is available on Amazon.
