In this episode of Wellness Junkies, Amy sits down with returning guest Rachel Johnson, founder of ah.mi, a wellness brand and community supporting busy women through curated, relatable content and quarterly group challenges. It's a candid catch-up on all things everyday wellness — from what really went down at the latest wellness summits to building a Substack community, morning routines, and showing up for yourself. This one's packed with real-life inspo (plus a few beauty hacks and workout confessions along the way). We talk about the recent growth of ah.mi and the evolution of its wellness community. Rachel shares how the brand stays grounded in its core mantra: “Greens, water, move, repeat.” The focus? Simple, actionable wellness that feels realistic, not overwhelming. Rachel also opens up about her recent live TV appearance on South Florida Live, and how she overcame her fear of being on camera — a moment that perfectly reflects her belief in doing hard things and showing up anyway. We then swap stories about our recent wellness summit experiences: Rachel attended In Goop Health, while Amy attended the Dear Media Wellness Edit. We compare notes on the panels, brand activations, and the overall vibe of each event — with a shared takeaway on the power of in-person connection and community. Lastly, we trade favorite wellness hacks — from the magic of being early to lower stress, to making movement a non-negotiable, to creative ways to get more protein in. It's real talk about the rituals that work, and how to get back on track when they don't. Join us for this inspiring and down-to-earth episode on the realities of wellness, the joy of community, and how to keep showing up — even when it's hard. In this episode of Wellness Junkies, we dive deep into the often-taboo topics surrounding women's health with our special guest, Dr. C, also known as The Vag Doc. With over 16 years of experience as a board-certified OB-GYN, Dr. C has made a name for herself on social media by breaking down complex issues related to gynecology (from periods to menopause) with clarity, compassion, and a touch of humor. The conversation kicks off with Dr. C sharing her journey into social media, highlighting the lack of open discussions about gynecology and midlife women's health. She emphasizes the importance of empowering women to ask questions about their bodies, especially during the often confusing transitions of perimenopause and menopause. Dr. C treats us to a wealth of information as she answers common questions about IUDs, hormone replacement therapy (HRT), and the changes women experience during menopause. She explains the benefits of keeping an IUD during midlife, the importance of estrogen for vaginal health, and how to navigate hormone levels effectively. The episode also touches on the significance of pelvic floor therapy, and encourages women to seek help and not to feel embarrassed about their health concerns, reinforcing that there is no shame in asking questions. As the episode wraps up, Amy and Melissa engage in a fun myth or fact segment, tackling common misconceptions about women's health, including the impact of wearing leggings on yeast infections. Join us for this enlightening and entertaining episode as we break down barriers and foster a community where women's health is discussed openly and honestly. We've long known that the fossil fuel industry, and front groups like the Western States Petroleum Association, has created a system of denial and disinformation to prevent the public from knowing the full extent of the damage they've inflicted on the climate. But new revelations show that their knowledge goes back to the 1950s. Now, as the city of Los Angeles is burning, and a president who calls climate change a “hoax” is about to re-enter office, these revelations are more important than ever. Jimmy Carter passed away today at the age of 100. As ex-president, he was a person we should all aspire to be- Habitat for Humanity, the Democracy Program that advocated for democracy and fair and open elections around the world, and his opposition to Israeli apartheid. But as president, his domestic and foreign policies were the same as many other presidents. His presidency marked the abandonment of New Deal politics, the Democratic embrace of neo-liberalism, and deregulation of key industries. On the foreign policy front, he was a prologue to the brutal and dangerous era of Reaganism. Since being President, Carter has been a genuinely decent human, a diplomat and humanitarian. But as President, he carried water for the ruling class, both at home and abroad. The NY Times recently published an essay titled "When Did Liberals Become So Comfortable with War?" This is a conventional media trope--that the Democrats were not a party of war but have pivoted toward that position. In this episode Scott and Bob go into detail about how wrong this idea is! The Democrats, the Liberals, since the days of Woodrow Wilson have been aggressive and warlike. In search of global markets and investment, cheap labor and resources, liberalism demanded International reach, with bankers and eventually soldiers spanning the globe to expand American power . . . all part of the core Liberal ideology. ---------------------------------- Outro- "War Pigs" by Black Sabbath Follow Green and Red// +G&R Linktree: https://linktr.ee/greenandredpodcast +Our rad website: https://greenandredpodcast.org/ + Join our Discord community (https://discord.gg/uvrdubcM) +NEW: Follow us on Substack (https://greenandredpodcast.substack.com) +NEW: Follow us on Bluesky (https://bsky.app/profile/podcastgreenred.bsky.social) Support the Green and Red Podcast// +Become a Patron at https://www.patreon.com/greenredpodcast +Or make a one time donation here: https://bit.ly/DonateGandR Our Networks// +We're part of the Labor Podcast Network: https://www.laborradionetwork.org/ +We're part of the Anti-Capitalist Podcast Network: linktr.ee/anticapitalistpodcastnetwork +Listen to us on WAMF (90.3 FM) in New Orleans (https://wamf.org/) This is a Green and Red Podcast (@PodcastGreenRed) production. And of course we made the comparison between the way the Brazilians acted immediately to hold Bolsonaro legally liable and Merick Garland was so weak, slow, and feckless in dealing w/ Trump.Bio//Mike (@mikeelk) is the founder of, and a reporter for, Payday Report. ——————Outro- "Green and Red Blues" by MoodyLinks//+Paydayreport.com+Twitter: @PaydayReport and @MikeElkFollow Green and Red// +G&R Linktree: https://linktr.ee/greenandredpodcast +Our rad website: https://greenandredpodcast.org/ + Join our Discord community (https://discord.gg/uvrdubcM) +NEW: Follow us on Substack (https://greenandredpodcast.substack.com)+NEW: Follow us on Bluesky (https://bsky.app/profile/podcastgreenred.bsky.social)Support the Green and Red Podcast// +Become a Patron at https://www.patreon.com/greenredpodcast +Or make a one time donation here: https://bit.ly/DonateGandR Our Networks// +We're part of the Labor Podcast Network: https://www.laborradionetwork.org/ +We're part of the Anti-Capitalist Podcast Network: linktr.ee/anticapitalistpodcastnetwork +Listen to us on WAMF (90.3 FM) in New Orleans (https://wamf.org/) This is a Green and Red Podcast (@PodcastGreenRed) production. On November 30th, 1999, a huge movement spanning labor, environment, human rights, fair trade and more literally shut down the World Trade Organization in Seattle. It was milestone in the growing anti-corporate globalization movement and challenged the inevitability of neo-liberalism. In a new series of episodes, we're looking at the 25th anniversary of the "Battle in Seattle" talking with a number of people who participated in the organizing and its aftermath. ---------------- Outro- "Green and Red Blues" by Moody Follow Green and Red// +G&R Linktree: https://linktr.ee/greenandredpodcast +Our rad website: https://greenandredpodcast.org/ + Join our Discord community (https://discord.gg/uvrdubcM) +NEW: Follow us on Substack (https://greenandredpodcast.substack.com)+NEW: Follow us on Bluesky (https://bsky.app/profile/podcastgreenred.bsky.social)Support the Green and Red Podcast// +Become a Patron at https://www.patreon.com/greenredpodcast +Or make a one time donation here: https://bit.ly/DonateGandR Our Networks// +We're part of the Labor Podcast Network: https://www.laborradionetwork.org/ +We're part of the Anti-Capitalist Podcast Network: linktr.ee/anticapitalistpodcastnetwork +Listen to us on WAMF (90.3 FM) in New Orleans (https://wamf.org/) This is a Green and Red Podcast (@PodcastGreenRed) production. The United Nations Climate talks, also know as COP29, is wrapping in Baku Azerbaijan this week. In a disturbing trend over the past few years, the largest delegation at COP29 is the fossil fuel lobbyist delegation. At the same time the UN continues to have the talks in petrostates like Azerbaijan and the United Arab Emirates (COP28 in 2023) and limit civil society ability to message and take action. In our latest, Scott talks with Allie Rosenbluth (@allieeerose.bsky.social) with Oil Change International to discuss COP29, the fossil fuel delegation, social movements and resistance to genocide in Palestine at the climate talks. Bio// Allie (she/they) is the U.S. Program Co-Manager at Oil Change International, where she focuses on supporting grassroots organizing and strategic campaigns aimed at phasing out fossil fuels. Prior to joining Oil Change International, Allie spent seven years at Rogue Climate. There, she worked to stop the Jordan Cove LNG export terminal and pipeline, developed local and statewide energy justice campaigns, trained youth organizers, and coordinated mutual aid in response to the devastating Almeda Fire in Southern Oregon. She serves on the Breach Collective Board, co-founded the Rogue Action Center, and was a SustainUS Youth Delegate to COP24. In 2019, Allie received the Community Sentinel Award for Environmental Stewardship for her work stopping fossil fuel projects. She lives on occupied Takelma, Shasta, and Latgawa lands, also known as Talent, Oregon, where she enjoys gardening, backpacking, and spending time on the rivers. ---------------------------------------- Outro- "Green and Red Blues" by Moody Links// + Oil Change International: https://www.oilchange.org/ + Oil Change's "Behind the Barrel" Report (https://bit.ly/4g1t195) Follow Green and Red// +G&R Linktree: https://linktr.ee/greenandredpodcast +Our rad website: https://greenandredpodcast.org/ + Join our Discord community (https://discord.gg/uvrdubcM) +NEW: Follow us on Substack (https://greenandredpodcast.substack.com) +NEW: Follow us on Bluesky (https://bsky.app/profile/podcastgreenred.bsky.social) Support the Green and Red Podcast// +Become a Patron at https://www.patreon.com/greenredpodcast +Or make a one time donation here: https://bit.ly/DonateGandR Our Networks// +We're part of the Labor Podcast Network: https://www.laborradionetwork.org/ +We're part of the Anti-Capitalist Podcast Network: linktr.ee/anticapitalistpodcastnetwork +Listen to us on WAMF (90.3 FM) in New Orleans (https://wamf.org/) This is a Green and Red Podcast (@PodcastGreenRed) production. The 2024 election was referred to many as the "gender election." We saw breathless stories by the media about Gen Z men, black men, Latino men and others trending towards Donald Trump over Democrat Kamala Harris. Trump's strategy of messaging to men proved effective and he won the election. This also runs parallel to a crisis among men (particularly working class men) around stagnant wages, healthcare, declining qualities of life, isolation and alienation. In our first post-election episode, we talk with journalist Ryan Zickgraf about Trump's appeal to men and what the left can do about it. Bio// Ryan (@ryan_zickgraf) is a journalist based in Pennsylvania. He's a columnist for @CompactMag_ and has bylines in @Jacobin, @telegraph, and@Bungacast. ----------------------------------- Outro- "I am a Man of Constant Sorrow" by the Soggy Bottom Boys Links// + Ryan Zickgraf: Working Class Men are Not Okay (https://bit.ly/4eO6dZv) + Ryan's column (https://bit.ly/4fPFrAQ) Follow Green and Red// +G&R Linktree: https://linktr.ee/greenandredpodcast +Our rad website: https://greenandredpodcast.org/ + Join our Discord community (https://discord.gg/uvrdubcM) +NEW: Follow us on Substack (https://greenandredpodcast.substack.com) +NEW: Follow us on Bluesky (https://bsky.app/profile/podcastgreenred.bsky.social) Support the Green and Red Podcast// +Become a Patron at https://www.patreon.com/greenredpodcast +Or make a one time donation here: https://bit.ly/DonateGandR Our Networks// +We're part of the Labor Podcast Network: https://www.laborradionetwork.org/ +We're part of the Anti-Capitalist Podcast Network: linktr.ee/anticapitalistpodcastnetwork +Listen to us on WAMF (90.3 FM) in New Orleans (https://wamf.org/) This is a Green and Red Podcast (@PodcastGreenRed) production.
