Tommy and Ben discuss a blockbuster Washington Post report alleging that Secretary of War Pete Hegseth personally ordered a “double tap” airstrike that was a textbook example of a war crime, the latest on Trump's slow-moving regime change policy in Venezuela, Trump's shocking pardon of Juan Orlando Hernández, the former President of Honduras who was convicted of conspiring to import 400+ tons of cocaine into the United States, and the latest on the Trump administration's peace talks with Russia. Then they explain how the tragic shooting of two National Guard troops in Washington, DC has led to a massive crackdown on legal immigration, and why the shooter is part of the long and disastrous history of the “Global War on Terror”, how the former president of South Africa's daughter tricked men into fighting for Russia on the front lines against Ukraine, and the latest PR disaster for FBI Director Kash Patel. Then, Ben speaks to film director Julia Loktev and Russian journalist Ksenia Mironova about the documentary, “My Undesirable Friends”, which documents the experiences of independent journalists in Moscow as Putin cracked down on the press in the months before the invasion of Ukraine. For a closed-captioned version of this episode, click here. Two closely watched surveys of U.S. manufacturing activity painted sharply divergent pictures in November, with one showing continued expansion and the other reporting accelerating contraction, highlighting deep uncertainty about the sector's health amid ongoing adjustment to the new rules of global trade. The S&P Global U.S. Manufacturing PMI registered 52.2 in November, marking the fourth consecutive month above the 50 threshold that separates expansion from contraction. However, the reading slipped from 52.5 in October. By contrast, the ISM Manufacturing PMI fell to 48.2, down from 48.7 in October and marking the ninth consecutive month of contraction. The divergence places the two surveys on opposite sides of the expansion-contraction divide, an unusual occurrence that suggests significantly different conditions across the manufacturing landscape. https://twitter.com/ShadowofEzra/status/1995904464625000594?s=20   the national debt. Source:  iraqidinarchat.net  Trump's Latin American Allies Against Venezuela  alliances are shaping up in the Caribbean, with many countries abandoning Venezuela and supporting the United States. Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro is becoming increasingly isolated as regional governments shift away from Chavismo and move closer to Washington. Honduras and St. Vincent and the Grenadines, once reliable partners for Caracas, have both elected new governments that pledged to distance themselves from Maduro.  Honduras   Argentina, Ecuador, El Salvador, and Bolivia have also deteriorated as those countries shifted to the right. Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands, both U.S. territories, have seen a renewed military buildup, with fighter jets and transport aircraft operating from Cold War-era facilities such as Roosevelt Roads and new activity at St. Croix's airport. Grenada is considering a U.S. request to host temporary radar equipment and personnel at Maurice Bishop International Airport. The government is still weighing technical and safety concerns, and the decision is complicated by the 1983 U.S. invasion and the airport's symbolic significance. Colombia remains the strongest partner, working closely with the United States on counter-narcotics, sanctions enforcement, and intelligence sharing, while also coordinating policy on the region's largest population of Venezuelan refugees. Paraguay and Uruguay consistently vote with Washington at the OAS to isolate Maduro and support democratic transition efforts. Ecuador works with the United States on organized crime, Venezuelan gang activity, and sanctions evasion, and has been publicly critical of the regime.  Maduro's remaining allies in the region are Cuba and Nicaragua, but neither is positioned to provide meaningful assistance. Josh Hammer explains again why Secretary of War Pete Hegseth is not a "war criminal," as the Left has ludicrously been suggesting. Why are leftists pushing this lie so hard? Hint: It has nothing to do with Hegseth himself or his actions, and everything to do with undermining President Trump's agenda every which way they possibly can. Josh also tackles the latest silly controversy over President Trump's harsh words on Somali immigrants, unpacks yesterday's Tennessee special election and crucial First Amendment case argued at the Supreme Court, and discusses last night's inspiring PragerU gala at Mar-a-Lago. If America seeks to turn around its various social maladies, there is perhaps nothing more important than inspiring young men and women and filling them with hope and gratitude.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Instead, a "Cold War" between the forces of capitalism and communism, represented by the U.S. and Soviet Union, dominated global politics and led to instability, interventions, wars, a militarized economy, a mass-surveillance National Security State, and so much more---and its legacy continued to this day as we look at Venezuela, Palestine, Iran, and other places across the globe. The U.S. posed the Cold War as a battle between "freedom" and Soviet domination, but that was always a ruse as the Americans held overwhelming dominance in all major military and economic matters. The U.S. had emerged from the war with global hegemony while the USSR had lose about 25 million people, a million farms and factories, and half its economy. So, 80 years later, it's important to examine and understand the role of the U.S. in using its power to create global dominance, disrupt 3rd World development, and destabilize countries across the globe. ----------------------------------

Arch-war criminal and former Vice-President Dick Cheney has died. A consummate DC insider who was White House Chief-of-Staff, Defense Secretary, CEO of Halliburton, and Vice President, he shaped and reshaped the GOP and the conservative movement. Responsible for the Global War on Terror and the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, he promoted the invasion of Iraq based on blatant lies. Brown University estimated over 4.5 million people died in the post-9/11 forever wars. He also changed government policy on "enhanced interrogation" (i.e. torture) and mass surveillance. And despite his redemption by liberals in recent years because of his opposition to Donald Trump, his politics and polities paved the way for Trump. In this episode, we discuss Dick Cheney, Trump and fanboy liberals redeeming Cheney. Today, we don't mourn Dick Cheney, only his victims. ----------------------------

When World War II ended, SS officer Adolf Eichmann disappeared. As a key organizer of Nazi Germany's Final Solution, the genocidal program that murdered 6 million European Jews, Eichmann became one of the most hunted men on earth. For 15 years, he remained hidden. But in 1957, through the efforts of a West German lawyer, a blind man, and Israeli intelligence, Eichmann's trail was found, leading to Buenos Aires, Argentina…     SOURCES: Arendt, Hannah. WARHAMMER FANTASY ROLEPLAY Pt II: How to Accidentally Create a War Criminal

The RPGBOT.Podcast

Play Episode Listen Later Jun 19, 2025 56:24

In this episode of the RPGBOT.Podcast the team learns how to build a Warhammer character that's equal parts tragic backstory, terrible life choices, and statistically improbable survival! Want to roll dice in a Greek villa, vanquish monsters in the shadow of the Acropolis, or experience horror, myth, and mayhem online or in-person? Book your next legendary session with Dungeon Master Adamantine at www.dungeonmasteradamantine.com or find him at startplaying.games/gm/dmadamantine. You bring the characters—he'll bring the chaos. In this episode, the hosts brave the stormy chaos of Michigan weather and minor audio goblins to dive deep into Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay character creation. From choosing your species to deciding whether your character is motivated by vengeance, coin, or the sweet smell of Middenheim sausage, the gang walks through every gritty, grimdark, and occasionally hilarious step of crafting a Warhammer persona. Whether you're rolling a rat catcher with dreams of knighthood or a noble elf who is definitely not judging the humans, this episode is your roadmap to making a character that lives, breathes, and probably dies violently in the Old World. What We Talked About (Between Coughs and Cackles) Michigan Weather Attacks Again: A brief detour into real-life weather horror before we get into fantasy horror. Species Selection – AKA “So You Want to Be a Goblin?” Humans get all the talents (and none of the respect). Dwarves are magically allergic. Species choice directly affects talents, skills, and your odds of surviving past session one. Attributes and Talents: Why it matters if your character is strong, smart, or just very good at gossip. Random rolls can turn a future hero into a chaotic gremlin with a heart of gold (or just halitosis). Skills: Basic vs. Advanced (and How to Not Die by Failing a Perception Check): Not all skills are created equal, and sometimes “Swim” really matters. Advancing your character's skills is key to surviving rats, cultists, and angry cows. Careers and Equipment: Your career defines your gear, your class skills, and whether you start with a sword or a dead ferret. Equipment makes a big difference—especially when one character has armor and another has… hope. Backstory, Motivation, and Ambition: Motivation adds depth. Like onions. Or ogres. Ambitions can be personal, professional, or deeply petty. XP bonuses reward you for actually having character goals, so “revenge on Barry the Baker” might just be worth it. Names, Physical Traits, and Psychological Flavor: A name can reveal your culture… or just make the DM sigh. Physical and psychological quirks bring your character to life—or at least make them memorable when they die. Party Dynamics and Relationships: What happens when your elf hates your dwarf and your priest keeps judging everyone? Exploring how party tensions, bromances, and grudges make the game world richer (and weirder). The Final Ingredient: Humor and Collaboration: Why character creation should be as fun as the game itself. You don't build a hero alone—you do it with friends, dice, and questionable life choices. Key Takeaways Species isn't just fluff—it shapes your whole character experience. Skills are life. Pick wisely, and don't forget “Perception” exists. Talents can turn a bland character into a legendary weirdo. Backstory + motivation = juicy roleplay and extra XP. Random rolls aren't a curse—they're an opportunity to improvise hilariously. Psychological traits help characters feel real (and often unstable). Your party is your story's emotional core—and chaotic powder keg. Character creation is where the game really begins. Embrace the madness. Be strategic. Be creative. Be weird. It's Warhammer, after all. Listen if You've Ever Wondered… How to build a character that could actually survive in the Warhammer universe. What to do when you accidentally roll “terrified of the color red.” Why “pet rat” is both an equipment choice and a career path. If being a barber-surgeon really counts as a heroic class. Trump's Made-For-TV Address to Congress

Last night, Donald Trump delivered a speech that, while technically a joint address to Congress, carried all the hallmarks of a campaign-style event filled with made-for-TV moments, emotional appeals, and strategic messaging. Let's break down what happened.Trump's Optimistic Tone: A Departure from "American Carnage"One of the most surprising takeaways from the speech was Trump's notably optimistic tone. Historically, Trump has thrived on highlighting crises, framing America as a nation in peril, in need of his leadership to "fix it." This time, however, there was a shift. He painted a picture of a country that was on the verge of a new golden era, offering solutions rather than just grievances. While still aggressive in his direct call-outs — pointing at specific politicians and criticizing their policies — Trump's rhetoric was more forward-facing. Whether one believes his words or not, the tone of his message was clear: We're going to be okay, and here's why.The Democrats' Disjointed StrategyIf Trump's address was an exercise in tight, focused messaging, the Democratic response was anything but. There appeared to be an internal divide on how to handle the moment. Leadership suggested a visual strategy, having members bring a “plus one,” specifically fired federal workers, to highlight job losses under Trump. But instead of a powerful display, the execution was lackluster. What Democrats mostly did was hold up small signs with messages like “False”, “Protect Medicaid”, and “Fire Musk.” These signs echoed previous protest tactics, like Rashida Tlaib's “War Criminal” sign when Netanyahu spoke. However, instead of appearing unified and strong, it made them look like they were following a playbook set by a single faction of the party rather than presenting a broad, compelling counterargument.Al Green's Yelling and the Optics BattleThe lack of a coherent Democratic strategy was further highlighted when Rep. Al Green (D-TX) stood up mid-speech and began yelling, though it was unclear what he was yelling about. The 77-year-old congressman was eventually escorted out, but the visual of an elderly man angrily shouting and then leaving quietly did little to make an impact.Trump, anticipating resistance, built a line into his speech about how Democrats would refuse to stand or cheer for anything he said. True to form, many Democrats remained seated during moments that, at least on camera, appeared universally positive. The optics of the party looking grumpy and disengaged while Trump supporters clapped and cheered was, at best, a missed opportunity.Policy Highlights: Inflation, Tariffs, and Open BordersTrump's speech hit several key policy points, starting with inflation, a topic polling shows as a top voter concern. His approach? Blame Biden and promise that lowering fuel costs through increased drilling would lower overall prices. He also reaffirmed his stance on tariffs, arguing that protectionist policies would bring jobs back to America. However, as Justin pointed out, this messaging could be tricky. If tariffs are seen as inflationary, they could directly contradict his economic promises.Immigration was another focus, with Trump highlighting border security as one of his administration's major successes. While migration levels have significantly decreased, he took full credit for the decline, presenting it as a unilateral victory. The Made-for-TV MomentsThis address will likely be remembered more for its emotional and strategic moments than for its policy substance. Trump repeatedly leaned into personal stories, putting everyday Americans in the spotlight. Among the most notable:* A Mother of a Murdered 12-Year-Old – Trump honored a grieving mother whose son was killed by gang members, announcing the renaming of an animal sanctuary in her child's honor.* A Young Female Athlete and Transgender Sports Debate – He highlighted a female volleyball player who suffered a head injury from a transgender opponent, a move that played directly into the right's ongoing cultural battles over women's sports.* A Cancer Survivor Turned Secret Service Member – In a surprise moment, Trump announced that a 13-year-old pediatric cancer survivor was being made an honorary Secret Service agent, prompting an emotional response.* A Military Legacy Continues – A young man from a military family was told, on stage, that he was being accepted into West Point — yet another moment of surprise designed for maximum emotional impact.* Afghanistan and ISIS-K – Perhaps the biggest bombshell was Trump's announcement that the mastermind behind the ISIS-K attack that killed 13 U.S. service members in Afghanistan had been captured and was being extradited.Polling and Public PerceptionIn the immediate aftermath, polling suggested the speech played well. A CNN snap poll showed 69% of speech watchers viewed it positively. A CBS YouGov poll reported that 68% of respondents felt “hopeful” after the speech, while only 16% felt “angry.” These numbers suggest that even some Democrats who tuned in didn't find the address entirely off-putting.However, the real test will come in the weeks ahead. Trump's messaging was disciplined and effective, but whether it translates into a meaningful shift in public opinion remains to be seen.Final Thoughts: The Democrats' Strategic VoidTrump may have dominated the night, but the bigger question is: What is the Democratic strategy? Right now, it seems like their approach is to hope Trump makes mistakes. But hope isn't a plan, and as Justin Young notes, failing to engage effectively in key political moments like this could spell trouble in November. As the 2024 election approaches, one thing is clear: If Democrats don't sharpen their messaging, Trump is going to keep winning the optics battle.Chapters00:00 - Intro08:19 - Trump's Opening Remarks and Al Green's Removal16:02 - Trump's Relationship with Democrats and Biden19:39 - Trump's Comments on Inflation22:04 - DOGE and Open Borders33:23 - Made-for-TV Moments41:19 - Abbey Gate, Ukraine, and the Democrats' Reactions48:39 - Final Thoughts This is a public episode. IS PUTIN A "CLASS A" WAR CRIMINAL?  8/8: Judgment at Tokyo: World War II on Trial and the Making of Modern Asia Hardcover – by Gary J. Bass 1942 JAPAN PRPOGANDA https://www.amazon.com/Judgment-Tokyo-World-Making-Modern/dp/1101947101 In the weeks after Japan finally surrendered to the Allies to end World War II, the world turned to the question of how to move on from years of carnage and destruction. For Harry Truman, Douglas MacArthur, Chiang Kai-shek, and their fellow victors, the question of justice seemed clear: Japan's militaristic leaders needed to be tried and punished for the surprise attack at Pearl Harbor; shocking atrocities against civilians in China, the Philippines, and elsewhere; and rampant abuses of prisoners of war in notorious incidents such as the Bataan death march. For the Allied powers, the trial was an opportunity to render judgment on their vanquished foes, but also to create a legal framework to prosecute war crimes and prohibit the use of aggressive war, building a more peaceful world under international law and American hegemony. For the Japanese leaders on trial, it was their chance to argue that their war had been waged to liberate Asia from Western imperialism and that the court was victors' justice.
