WitchLit is on a summer hiatus while we settle into our new WitchLit HQ and rather than leave a blank space in the feed, we're taking the old TV network approach and bringing you some summer reruns from our first two seasons. Today's rerelease is my conversation with Cory Thomas Hutcheson. Cory graciously— gamely?—agreed to be the first guest on WitchLit and was a huge resource for getting WitchLit off the ground. I'm also proud to announce that 1000Volt Press will be publishing his new book with his podcasting cohost Laine Fuller later this summer. Conjuring the Commonplace: A Guide to Everyday Enchantment & Junk Drawer Magic is a treasure trove of folklore and magic made from the mundane and we can't wait to get it into your hands. What's the difference between myths, legends, and folklore? Or...is there a difference?  The winter holiday season is chock full of magic and monsters and bits of folklore abounding in everything from the colors of the season to the foods that we eat. Folklore itself - as a topic of study and discussion - has had a bit of a moment this year. Plenty of voices have made a bit of a name for themselves bringing folklore to the masses via social media, but there's a lot of nuance when you scratch the surface of the topic.  So, I talked to my very favorite folklorist, Dr. Cory Hutcheson, about the study of folklore, its misconceptions, and what it teaches us about cultures past and present. We also talked about comic book mythology and what has to happen for the stories of today to become the folklore of tomorrow. Find out more about Cory on his podcast, New World Witchery, or by picking up his book of the same name. Brief housekeeping note: I'll be taking January off from producing new shows. Madeline Miller is the author of the beloved and best-selling novels Circe and The Song of Achilles. Both of her books are offshoots of Homer’s Greek myth epics, The Iliad and The Odyssey, though in Miller’s versions, side characters are centered and given more fully fleshed out stories that feel contemporary, complex, and crystalline. On this episode, Miller discusses the magic of women, the craft of writing, and how she gave new life to an ancient witch.Pam also talks about new year deities and answers a listener question about feline familiars. Our sponsors for this episode are Weiser Books, New World Witchery, VERAMEAT, and Mithras Candle.

Hello again witches, seekers, and friends and thanks for tuning in to episode 35 of The Fat Feminist Witch Podcast, the show where we do a little ranting, raving and wand waving. Today's episode is all about everyone's not-so-favourite emotion - ANGER. Where it comes from, why we get angry, and why you shouldn't just banish your anger, but use it as a potent source of magickal power. For example, I am angry at myself for continuously saying this is episode number 34 all the way through this thing, but c'est la vie! Thanks to Cory at New World Witchery for having me on the show! You can hear me in Episode 132 – Bodies, Gender, and Witchcraft at http://newworldwitchery.com To learn more about Shadow Work check out Light Magic for Dark Times by Lisa Marie Basile.
