Andy's sobriety date is October 21, 2005 and his Home group is currently the same group that he joined when he first came in- the Morning After Group of Westwood, New Jersey, now both on Zoom and in person. AA saved Andy's life- He says that he can never give back to A.A. what's been given to him but he can try one day at a time. As the result of the 12 Steps-being protected by god, at home with self, and connected to a community, Andy has moved from a taker to a giver- from a greedy soul towards having a servants heart. The journey has been generous- the job god has Andy doing is to engage another alcoholic in spiritual activity so he can live a useful life today. Andy speaks to us on the topic of "A Room Without a Roof"Reco12 is an open-to-all addictions and afflictions organization, dedicated to exploring the common threads of the differing manifestations of alcoholism; sharing tools, and offering hope from those walking a similar path. Today we had a special pop-up Reco12 meeting with Jed F as our speaker. He shared great experience, strength, and hope. A little about Jed: Jed was sent to recovery by his loving God through his wife's addiction and is grateful about it. He learned that he is not perfect, will never be perfect and that's ok. His main focus is emotional sobriety and his connection to his higher power. And his topic today was entitled Does God Hate Me or Love Me?Reco12 is dedicated to exploring the common threads of addiction, sharing tools, and offering hope from those walking a similar path. Tomás K has been a member of Internet and Technology Addicts Anonymous for 8 years and has been continuously sober from all of his compulsive internet and technology behaviors (including social media, streaming, video games, porn, and more) for over 5 years. Despite being high-functioning in many areas of his life, his increasingly frequent and painful bottoms with technology were driving a suicidal despair which seemed to offer no way out. After initially facing immense confusion and grief in early recovery around what a changed relationship with technology might look like, his experience discovering sobriety and working the Steps in ITAA has led him to a life of connection, fulfillment, and peace that exceeds anything he ever found in the screen. Welcome to another episode where we dive deep into the mysteries of the legendary Sasquatch. Today, we embark on a journey through time, exploring the origins of this enigmatic creature's name, the pioneers who paved the way for cryptozoological research, and the modern-day encounters cataloged by the Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization (BFRO). Finally, we'll take a closer look at the track evidence that has sparked heated debates in both the scientific and cryptid communities. The Genesis of the Name SasquatchLong before Bigfoot became a household name, indigenous cultures across North America shared stories of large, hairy beings that roamed the forests. The term Sasquatch itself originates from the Coast Salish word Sésquac, meaning “wild man.” It was introduced to popular culture in the 1920s by J.W. Burns, a Canadian teacher who collected and documented First Nations' accounts of the creature. From there, Sasquatch slowly made its way into the cryptid lexicon, preceding the more famous moniker Bigfoot, which wouldn't gain traction until the late 1950s.The pursuit of unknown creatures isn't new. In the mid-20th century, a new branch of study emerged—cryptozoology—dedicated to investigating creatures that exist on the fringes of scientific recognition. Figures like Bernard Heuvelmans, Ivan T. Sanderson, and Grover Krantz were instrumental in developing this field, applying scientific methods to analyze claims of mysterious creatures, including Sasquatch. Krantz, in particular, became one of the foremost defenders of Bigfoot's potential existence, arguing that physical evidence—especially footprints—could not be easily dismissed. The Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization (BFRO) has meticulously cataloged thousands of encounters, compiling witness reports from across North America. From fleeting glimpses to prolonged close encounters, the database serves as one of the largest repositories of Bigfoot-related evidence. Patterns have emerged over time—frequent sightings in the Pacific Northwest, eerie vocalizations heard in dense forests, and even alleged physical interactions with the creature. But with this vast amount of anecdotal evidence, the question remains: Are these reports merely misidentifications, hoaxes, or something more?Tracks and the Debate Over Their AuthenticityFootprints have long been one of the most cited pieces of evidence in the search for Sasquatch. Some tracks, like the famous Cripple Foot print analyzed by Grover Krantz, have been presented as near-definitive proof of the creature's existence. Others, like the tracks discovered by Paul Freeman, have been widely debated, with skeptics arguing they were fabricated. This brings us to an article published in The Skeptical Inquirer by Michael R. Dennett, titled Bigfoot Evidence: Are These Tracks Real? In this piece, Dennett critically examines track evidence, particularly those tied to Freeman and Krantz, raising questions about their authenticity and whether belief has clouded scientific rigor.Final ThoughtsWhether you're a believer, a skeptic, or somewhere in between, the mystery of Sasquatch remains one of the most enduring and fascinating topics in cryptozoology. The stories, the evidence, and the ongoing debates keep us questioning what might be lurking in the remote wilderness. As we sift through history, firsthand encounters, and the physical evidence left behind, one thing is certain—the legend of Sasquatch isn't going anywhere.Tune in and decide for yourself: Are we on the cusp of a major cryptozoological discovery, or is the truth behind Sasquatch forever lost in folklore and fabrication?Get Our FREE NewsletterGet Brian's Books Leave Us A VoicemailVisit Our WebsiteSupport Our SponsorsVisit Untold Radio AMVisit HIMS.COMBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/sasquatch-odyssey--4839697/support.

Here is a bit about Dan B in his own words: I grew up in a nuclear family filled with addicts and alcoholics. In 1995, I began a long term relationship with an alcoholic and sex addict. That relationship and eventual marriage led me on a journey with stops in many forms of institutions and hospitals. By the grace of God, I attended my first Al Anon meeting on July 19, 2004 and my first S-Anon meeting on January 13, 2010. In 2023, for a reason I don't yet see, my S-Anon friends named me Yodanon. I am proud of being named after the wisest (non conference approved) Jedi knight. Finding my voice through public speaking and serving others helps me earn my emotional sobriety, one day at a time. In this Reco12 Speaker Meeting, Dan speaks with us about making 9th step amends with himself and with his Higher Power. He found that yesterday's miracle wasn't sufficient for today! Other things began to compete for that experience & they eventually won out. In 2019 he reached an emotional bottom in sobriety. He suffered from a spiritual illness brought by a human condition - self. He was freed in 2019 & has continued to grow and walk emotionally free ever since! Dennis T from Alaska joined SA on July 29th 2014. After 40 years of searching for a solution, he was finally introduced to SA at age 52. He asked for a sponsor on day 1 and has worked his program every day since. He states that helping another sexaholic through the steps brings about the greatest connection to his Higher Power than anything else. Being used by God, on a daily basis, has changed his life and his relationships. Living free one day at a time by utterly abandoning himself to his Higher Power has given him a new way of living. Justin B finally admitted powerlessness over his sexual addiction and the unmanageability of his life in September of 2013 and reluctantly entered his first 12 Step room. After a few weeks, the approach was made by a fellow who told him how to work the program with a sponsor. Justin hasn't looked back since then. Through mountains and valleys of life, more has been disclosed and Justin now identifies as a grateful, multi-disciplinary addict, living in the miracle of recovery, one day at a time. Justin is the grateful steward of the Reco12 family of recovery resources and loves learning of the myriad perspectives, backgrounds, and cultures of addicts from all fellowships, from all faith traditions, and from all over the world. Cathy came to Overeaters Anonymous Sept 2013 because she could not stay stopped from hurting herself with food no matter what she tried! A miracle of healing happened 4 years ago when Cathy finally conceded to herself that she will never have enough “will power” to abstain from compulsively overeating. Only a relationship with a Higher Power does for Cathy what she cannot do for herself. In today's meeting, Cathy shares on the crux of the problem.Reco12 is all about exploring the common threads of addiction and sharing tools and hope from those on a similar path. Matt and Carriss speak to us today on emotional sobriety and restoring intimacy.Although sexaholism was pervasive in Matt's family of origin, he didn't know there was a name for it until his wife's own sexaholism brought him to S-Anon in 2021. It wasn't until he was about nine months in that he finally realized he had work to do on himself, and by the end of his first year in recovery he'd completed his step work and had become a new person. It used to be that he couldn't imagine life being any worse, but now, by the grace of God, he struggles to imagine it can get any better. Carriss is a grateful recovered sexaholic from St. Louis and has been a member of SA since August 2021. Carriss joined the program to save her marriage but when she accepted her sexaholism as a disease and began working a rigorous program she saved herself. Carriss's life, marriage and attitude have changed for the better and for these reasons she is grateful to be a sexaholic.Reco12 is all about exploring the common threads of addiction and sharing tools and hope from those on a similar path. Only by the grace of God, Krissy F is still alive. She has been sober since December 6, 2006, but stayed sick sober for a long time, suffering from untreated alcoholism without realizing it. Krissy did the program 'her way,' avoiding certain steps and excluding God. For 14.5 years, she hung on by 'not drinking and going to meetings.' When she finally hit rock bottom emotionally, mentally, and spiritually, she surrendered to the 12 Step Program and embraced her need for God. This surrender allowed her to live with power, love, and a transformative way of life, enabling Krissy to be happy, joyous, and free. Today she speaks powerfully on how her painful past is the key to helping others.Reco12 is all about exploring the common threads of addiction and sharing tools and hope from those on a similar path. Mike L is a sober coach with 36 years of sober and clean lived experience and he has come to believe that he is a spiritual being having a human experience. Mike uses the 3 Legacy model of Unity (Meetings), Service (Helping Others) and Recovery (Practicing Spiritual Principles) to hold off the full-blown return of Stinking Thinking, which in his experience, leads to suffering and Drunk Drinking. While Mike used to believe that he had a drink or drug of choice, the truth is that he never had a choice, he just had to have it, whatever it was, and most days in recovery Mike is happy, joyous and free, as long as he remembers the 12 steps are not an event; they are like breathing for his soul/spirit.Reco12 is all about exploring the common threads of addiction and sharing tools and hope from those on a similar path. Unlike lots of people their age, neither Laci nor Matt grew up with the Indiana Jones films. But at least one of them has fallen in love with the franchise as an adult, especially this first film. The two talk about the origins of Raiders of the Lost Ark on a beach in Hawaii in 1977 as Steven Spielberg and George Lucas built sandcastles together. One imagines they were very well-crafted and functional sandcastles, Lucas's a little too clinical, Spielberg's a little sappy. Still, they were good castles, is what we're saying. Matt recalls his first time watching Raiders of the Lost Ark at the relatively late age of 16, while Laci has mushed all the Indiana Jones movies together and experiences all of time as one instant. But she loves Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones! He's doing a lot of work, she says. Then the podcast goes very thoroughly through the film, recapping Raiders of the Lost Ark in excruciating detail. Harrison Ford and Karen Allen are great, of course, but Paul Freeman as René Belloq kind of steals the movie. Does the film do enough with Indiana Jones's fear of snakes? Is the Raiders of the Lost Ark car chase the best in movie history? Is the plot of this movie too hard to follow? This and much more is litigated over this spirited two-hour Raiders of the Lost Ark movie review. Watch this episode in full: https://youtu.be/tZNfFFFYhkQ Next week: A.I. Kevin got sober in Sexaholics Anonymous on June 11, 2019. He was first introduced to SA in 2001 by a therapist, but he didn't know yet how to be rigorously honest, so he faded away from the Program after a few years. After HP returned him to the Program in 2018, he thought he could skip right over Steps 2 and 3 because his faith practice had already been a central focus for him since early childhood. He never expected the spiritual re-education he's received over the last five years nor the consistent spiritual experiences he now joyously receives. Today Kevin will speak to us on the role of HP in the 12 Steps. This meeting marks 4 years that Reco12 has been a weekly meeting! Thank you all for making it what it is becoming! Dennis T in Alaska is sober since July 29th, 2014. He came into the program after experiencing 40 years of pain and destruction and being unable to stop. The program has given him principles and tools to practice and live by on a daily basis. His experience showed him that only "not doing" left him sick and suffering, and the only path to freedom was by utterly abandoning himself to the God of his understanding, then as time passed everything began to change. He speaks to us today on this concept that sober is not well.Reco12 is all about exploring the common threads of addiction and sharing tools and hope from those on a similar path. Nik B. Is a recovering Sexaholic, Co-dependent, compulsive binge eater and a grateful member of the SAL fellowship. With the Grace of God, a change of heart and rigorous honesty Nik has 2.5 years of sobriety from sexual addiction. His first spiritual awakening was when he became aware of his own ignorance after living a life of self-will run riot. Nik now strives to live a life of quality… with feeling his emotions, making decisions based on integrity, and continuing to practice his conscious contact with God. Keeping idle isn't an option; constantly taking action is the pathway to his peace. Carrington S. is a proud/grateful member of Alcoholics Anonymous. Her sobriety date is 11/18/2013. Carrington lives her life by the great words of Britney Spears “you better work”. Leaning into the unknown and trusting in the care of her higher power has been the key component of Carrington's recovery,“Hope is praying for rain, faith is bringing an umbrella”. Carrington knows that taking action has been the key ingredient to sustainable transformation and that “faith without works is dead”. They speak to us today on Stepping Into Action.Reco12 is all about exploring the common threads of addiction and sharing tools and hope from those on a similar path. Yitzy has been in recovery for a number of years. His primary program is SA, although he appreciates all the S fellowships and utilizes what he can from each of them. Yitzy also has worked the program for codependency out of the big book, which essentially allowed him to become more emotionally sober and eventually start dating. More recently, he started working ACA (adult children of alcoholics), which helped him put a voice to trauma that he wasn't aware of. It's a continuing journey, and Yitzy has already had a spiritual awakening as the result of getting started with facing his childhood. By God's grace, Yitzy got married to his wife, who is also in recovery. We now they have a baby girl. That has taken both of them on a deeper journey into recovery, healing from trauma, self judgment, fear, and responsibilities. He will speak to us on what it's like to be a new parent in recovery.Reco12 is all about exploring the common threads of addiction and sharing tools and hope from those on a similar path. You will not want to miss this one if you are a married person working your recovery. John belongs to AA and Recovering Couples Anonymous (RCA). Early in Sobriety, he became a single parent to 3 kids due to his ex-wife's addictions. While AA became a way of life, John found great difficulty applying the principles in his marriage. Although he wasn't drinking he would withdraw under emotional pressure. John joined RCA in 2019 and started a recovery program in his marriage. Today he actively tries to merge his Higher Power in his recovery, marriage, and faith.Reco12 is self-supporting, and your contributions help us continue our mission. Ashley S from North Carolina is grateful to be a recovered sex addict and codependent. She has a deep love for the Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous as it is the primary text that enabled her to enter upon a new relationship with her Creator and have a profound spiritual awakening to overcome her sex addiction back in 2021. However, Ashley found herself hopeless once more as she was stuck in a toxic relationship in sobriety. By the grace of the God, she entered into the rooms of Al-Anon back in March 2023 and found a sponsor to take her back through the Big Book to heal from her codependency. Ashley's talk today is based on Steps 6 & 7 and another spiritual text which had a profound impact on her recovery journey – Drop the Rock. Today, she is passionate about carrying the message to the addict who still suffers as she found it was the solution to help her “drop her rocks.” Ashley is grateful to be back on Reco12 one year later after reworking the 12 steps to share her new story!Reco12 is all about exploring the common threads of addiction and sharing tools and hope from those on a similar path. Chuck started off his sobriety journey, July 9, 2020 after feeling useless to everybody, especially to himself, that's when he stuck a pistol in his mouth. He drank to black out since he was 13 years old, and at 46, finally hit his bottom. The 12 steps has led him to a God that he has only been able to experience, through working the 12 steps and living them on a daily basis. Chuck has found usefulness in his life, usefulness to others, and especially usefulness to himself.Chuck thanks God for bringing him to AA!!Reco12 is all about exploring the common threads of addiction and sharing tools and hope from those on a similar path. SynopsisT.J. Anderson was the first Black composer to hold the title of composer-in-residence with an American symphony orchestra. That was in Atlanta, when Robert Shaw was the music director of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. For Atlanta, Anderson orchestrated Scott Joplin's opera Treemonisha, resulting in the first full staging of that 1911 work, about 60 years after it was written, a performance that was broadcast on NPR in 1972. In addition to orchestrating Joplin's opera, Anderson wrote a few of his own, including Soldier Boy and Walker, which was based on the life of David Walker, an anti-slavery activist. One of Anderson's concert works, Squares, was premiered on today's date in 1966 by the Oklahoma Symphony and later recorded by the Baltimore Symphony for inclusion in a now-classic set of recordings issued by Columbia Records in 1970, The Black Composer Series.Squares is abstract and modernist, perhaps reflecting Anderson's academic background of composition studies at the esteemed Cincinnati Conservatory of Music and with French composer Darius Milhaud at the Aspen School of Music. Before his retirement in 1990, Anderson also taught composition at several universities from Massachusetts to California.Music Played in Today's ProgramT.J. “I should, they should, the world should”! is how Beth started her email to me. She says she can live life ‘should-ing' all over the place where she starts objecting to reality - and reality only wins 100% of the time. Blaming others for the way she feels, playing the victim, complaining, diving into self-pity or using anger to manipulate people to act right can easily be her emotional (im)maturity level. Attending AA, having a sponsor, taking the 12 Steps and continuing to seek and improve conscious contact with God helps her grow up & stay out of selfishness, by taking responsibility for herself with God's help.Reco12 is all about exploring the common threads of addiction and sharing tools and hope from those on a similar path. In the Thanksgiving replay of this POWERFUL meeting, Matt D shares on how he eventually became grateful that he is married to a sexaholic woman. Here is a little about Matt D: Matt's wife's sexaholism brought him to the S-Anon fellowship in December 2021 as a homicidal, suicidal lost cause. After a slow start, he learned through the principles of the 12 steps and the tools of S-Anon to love God, his wife, his children, and his fellows, and to takesolution-based action to break the patterns of co-dependency in his life. The lessons he's learned in S-Anon have also helped him to tackle his drug and alcohol addictions. He is now an S-Anon success story, living his best life as one who is happy, joyous, and free.Reco12 is an organization with the mission of learning and sharing the similarities of addiction of all kinds and gaining and sharing tools and hope from others who are walking a similar path.
