Is writing a book hard? Today I'm flying solo to talk about the process of writing my first book, “The Core Value Equation,” where I tackled how core values create the ultimate decision-making engine for an organization that consistently produces spectacular results. Writing and publishing my own book has been on my bucket list for a long time until I made it happen in 2020. Now, looking back at the experience made me realize that anyone can write and publish their own book. It may sound like a daunting task, but it was personally one of the coolest projects I have ever done.  In this episode, I will be taking you behind the scene on how The Core Value Equation was born. You will also learn several tips on how to write your own book and the challenges and benefits of publishing one. Here are some of the things I get into: What pushed me to write The Core Value Equation. How I started the writing process by dictation. Why consistency matters in writing a book. The power of editing in creating and fine-tuning a book. Why most people write a book.  Connect with Darius: Website: https://therealdarius.com/ Linkedin: https://www.linkedin.com/in/dariusmirshahzadeh/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/whoompdarius/ YouTube: https://therealdarius.com/youtube Book: The Core Value Equation https://www.amazon.com/Core-Value-Equation-Framework-Limitless/dp/1544506708 Learn more about your ad choices. Ever since I can remember, I have always loved stories. I love listening to stories and I love telling stories. In this episode, I will be talking about the importance of storytelling in our lives. Stories are not just for kids, but they can also be a great tool to share knowledge, information and learnings. Our brains are designed to absorb information through stories. This is why we love watching movies and reality TV, because they put us in a dream-like state, just as if we are living the experiences ourselves. I do also believe that each and every one of us all has our own unique stories to tell. I am a big believer in "Your wounds become your superpower". Our wounds and biggest learnings are clues to our purpose and our unique gift that we are meant to bring to this world. Want to become a writer? Stephanie Chandler is a long-time friend and mastermind partner. We are happy to announce our first book project together – The Nonfiction Book Publishing Plan. Between us, we have almost thirty books. But Stephanie also runs Authority Publishing, so she has experience publishing many more books, focused on almost any audience you can think of. You can learn more about Stephanie on her Speaker Page or Wikipedia. She has been a driving force in the writing community worldwide, and particularly in Northern California. She is the founder of the Nonfiction Authors Association, with chapters all over the globe. On top of all that, Stephanie runs the Nonfiction Writers Conference. The Fall Conference will be held online November 8-9. More details at https://nonfictionwritersconference.com/. (I am honored to be a speaker at this event.) So, with all that going, I don’t know how she found time to talk to me on the SMB Community Podcast, but she did! After helping each other with thousands of business ideas and projects over the last 15-ish years, Stephanie and I finally collaborated on a book. Previously, Stephanie had great success with The Nonfiction Marketing Plan, and I wrote Publish Your First Book a long time ago. So we combined our knowledge of book publishing to come out with this guide to profitable self-publishing. Of course the book has it’s own page here: http://store.nonfictionauthorsassociation.com/book-the-nonfiction-book-publishing-plan/   In This Interview . . . Stephanie gives us some great tips on how to use your book to promote your business. You can tell she knows here stuff when I ask her to apply her ideas to the technology consulting market. She immediate threw out half a dozen ideas about how to use the book to promote your business, get local speaking gigs, and make sure your prospects have handouts with your name on them pinned to the bulletin board. We also discuss the strategy Stephanie used right there: Give your best information up front – hold nothing back. Remember, your prospects (and those you speak to at Chamber meetings, etc.) are not in your business. So they can’t absorb the information as easily as if you were talking to technology consultants. So give them the juicy good information and you will make them hungry to understand. And a great way to get that understanding is to buy your book or engage you in a contract. If you want to engage Stephanie, follow the links below. And I highly encourage you to join the Nonfiction Authors Association and plan to attend the online Nonfiction Writers Conference in November. I promise you’ll love it.   Links Mentioned: Nonfiction Writers Conference: https://nonfictionwritersconference.com/ Nonfiction Authors Association: https://nonfictionauthorsassociation.com/ The Nonfiction Book Publishing Plan: https://nonfictionauthorsassociation.com/the-nonfiction-book-publishing-plan-the-professional-guide-to-profitable-self-publishing/   Check out the interview here: This interview is 30 minutes.   Listen to the Podcast

On Win's Women of Wisdom today, Best-Selling Author, Win Kelly Charles welcomes Lorna Faith. Lorna is a fiction and non-fiction writer, blogger and Podcaster. She’s loved stories and storytelling before she went to Elementary School and now as an adult she still tells stories ... but now she also helps others create the stories they love. Growing up in a large farm in Northern B.C. Canada as the youngest of 11 children, there were many stories. Lots of escapades riding horses, hauling bales, weeding the garden and building go-carts. Some of the funnest times were riding calves and dancing in the kitchen to Beatles music with her neighbour - and best friend - Skippy :) Lorna is married to her best friend Murray and has 1 teenager and 3 young adult children. Her biggest loves are hiking and having fun adventures with her family in the mountains near them in Southern Alberta. When she’s not doing that she sneaks into her imaginary world and writes more stories. A couple years ago Lorna published her first historical romance, Answering Annaveta, and is now editing Book #2 in that series. She’s also busy writing a contemporary romance set on an Island for NaNoWriMo. This past year Lorna has written her first non-fiction book to help first-time writers tell their stories in her book Write and Publish Your First Book, and recently completed an online course by the same name, at www.writeandpublishyourfirstbook.com. Lorna loves to encourage others to keep following their dreams and to keep telling and living better stories through her books, her blog and her podcast. Stop by www.lornafaith.com and say hi. She’d love to connect with you:) To learn more about your host visit https://wincharles.wix.com/win-charles
