Kat, spoiled and privileged, has always had the love and attention of her parents, Nicole Dupree Richardson (Daphnee Duplaix) and Ted Richardson (Keith D. Robinson). Eva, on the other hand, was raised in a less fortunate circumstance, with her manipulative mother Leslie Thomas (Trisha Mann-Grant) feeding her a web of lies about her father on the CBS soap opera. BTG sees Eva's recent discovery of Leslie's deceit seems to have prompted a change of heart, as she begins to question her preconceived notions about her family. Despite the tumultuous relationship with her sister Kat, Eva has shown a willingness to reach out and help, even secretly assisting at Nicole's office. Kat, meanwhile, remains self-centered and vindictive, going as far as putting her father Ted's business at risk to spite Eva. The tension escalates further when Tomas "Tom" Hernandez, played by Alex Alegria, becomes a point of contention between the two. Beyond the Gates sees While Eva is seen as the underdog, striving to make amends and better herself, Kat's character continues to be portrayed as the ultimate brat, unable to see beyond her own self-interests. In light of these recent developments, fans are eager to see how the relationship between Kat and Eva evolves. The album, out March 29th, with some exclusive snippets debuting here, exists in its own unique sonic landscape, and Lukah brings his storytelling prowess to the forefront. We're excited about this swerve in direction from two artists we have interviewed before and whose work we admire. We also spend a few minutes with RBM breaking down last year's Serpent album with Kool Keith, an unexpected late-career triumph for the artist formerly known as Rhythm X. In the intro segment, hosts Nate LeBlanc, David Ma and Demone Carter name some of their favorite one MC + one producer albums and after the interview, we get into some of our least favorite of those kind of projects, something we talk about about often but don't usually record.
