As I was doing all of my research on controversial pastor Doug Wilson out of Moscow, Idaho, I came across his troublesome teachings on so-called "biblical patriarchy." That also led me to a disturbing movement called the "stay-at-home-daughters" (SAHD)--something which is also within Wilson's orbit. This week's guest, Cait West, is a survivor of both. She grew up in a Christian homeschooling environment and also was also a part of the SAHD too. Having escaped both, Cait is not only speaking out and writing about her experiences and the trauma she suffered, she is now an advocate for those like herself who experienced forms of religious or other traumas. Brad is joined by writer R.L. Stollar who discusses his recent article on Voddie Baucham and the Stay at Home Daughter Movement. Baucham may not be a household name-but he was nearly elected the president of the largest Protestant denomination in the country just over a week ago. According to Stollar, Bacuham is a pillar in the SAHD movement, which "argues that girls should remain at home—even after they become adult women—and submissively serve their fathers until they're married." Here is how Christianity Today describes the movement: "Essentially, adherents of SAHD believe daughters should never leave the covering of their fathers until and unless they are married. One SAHD father writes: While they are preparing to be keepers of their own homes one day, until our daughters are married, they should serve as keepers at home in the house of their father. They are to be helpers to their mother and blessings to our entire family, as well as to our local church and community." R.L. In our prologue episode we answer some common questions about our background and share more about the experiences that have shaped and blessed our life. This week's episode of Parent Tell finds Kaila, a SAHM (stay-at-home-mom), talking with a SAHD (stay-at-home-dad)! Evan is fresh off the SAHD block after 6, yes SIX, years as a stay-at-home-dad to this two kids. As timing would have it, both of Evan's kids are officially in elementary school as of a few weeks ago so Kaila and Evan begin their discussion by marking that huge milestone while Evan also opens up about wondering what might be next for him. Being the primary caregiver for more than half a decade has given Evan confidence in his role as a SAHD, but that was not always the case. Evan and Kaila talk about how hard and vulnerable it can be to transition from a full fledged career to being the only one in your house all day who doesn't wear diapers. But in between emphasizing how wonderful silence is after a day full of baby noise and overzealous toys, Kaila and Evan openly discuss the importance of taking care of your mental health, finding people in your life who will support you and can relate, and also the fact that being a SAHD is a great way to buck traditional (read: antiquated) domestic gender roles that very much still exist in society and within ourselves in the 21st century. This episode is surely one that anyone can connect with on multiple levels (I'm not biased at all); take what you need, if anything, from it and just keep parenting and telling about it!More Evan info: check out his Instagram accounts @viraldads & @this.american.dadFor more information about Kaila, episode topics and behind the scenes details, and of course painfully relatable memes follow Parent Tell on InstagramIn the mood to tell about your parenting? Plus, the guys breathe a sigh of relief as a "Progressive" move in the MLB saves them from some difficult convos with their kids. And - our first guest! Thomas Kildren joins the fatherly duo to talk SAHD life and share his remarkable story of an at-home birth. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/better-off-dad-pod/message

Whatupdoe!!!This isn't “The View.” This is “The Dad's Point of View,' of being a stay-at-home parent. The Rad, Bad, Stay at Home Dad's Podcast is about Jason and Chris discussing their week, past stories, and how they deal with certain situations with their children. Jason has three little girls, Hazel, 8, Quinn, 4, and Margo, 1, while Chris has an 8-year-old boy named Sawyer, and a 6-year-old girl named Lilly. Chris has been a SAHD since day one for his kids and Jason's roll has fluctuated throughout the years. You will laugh at their candidness, humbleness, and see the love they have for their family while discussing how they got here in life. They are both open books talking about the job they are doing.
Danny and Brock discuss the importance of a breadwinning spouse/partner being aware of the stresses that their at-home dad go through on a daily basis. The guys also give perspective, encouragement, and advice to stay-at-home dads and especially a new SAHD in the trenches. Some updates on HomeDadCon are also talked about. Enjoy the Show.
