Hour 2: Some sad and scary news regarding former Steeler Cam Sutton, who is on the run following charges of domestic violence. We pivoted to Kenny Pickett being slammed by Mike Florio earlier today. Is Pickett entitled given what he has failed to do so far in his career?  With some Fan personnel in Tampa, we heard an unfortunate PJ Kumanchik story from Super Bowl 43, which resulted in him missing the game-winning TD from Santonio Holmes. What are some big plays we have missed despite being there live?  Mike Florio from Pro Football Talk joined the show. Mike thinks there is a chance we get into the season and Russell Wilson doesn't have it anymore to give way to Justin Fields, but doesn't expect Wilson to just never play for the Steelers. Mike thinks the Steelers could be more prone to trading Fields ahead of the season if a team loses its starter right before the regular season. The guys asked Mike about his comments made about Kenny Pickett from this morning and how he feels about the whole situation. Mike is stunned by the Steelers moves because this truly is something they never do. Mike suggested Odell Beckham Jr. as a receiving target that the Steelers should have eyes on.

Larry Fitzgerald is considered one of the best wide receivers of all time, and is expected to be a first ballot NFL Hall of Famer. But in his 17 seasons with the Arizona Cardinals, he made it to the Super Bowl just once. In 2009, the Cardinals were the underdogs against the Pittsburgh Steelers. They were behind Pittsburgh most of the game until the last few minutes of the fourth quarter. That's when Arizona quarterback Kurt Warner connected with Fitzgerald, who avoided two safeties to make a 64-yard touchdown. With 2:37 left in the game, Fitzgerald thought the Cardinals were on their way to victory. Then came the play that still haunts Fitzgerald: Ben Roethlisberger hits Santonio Holmes for the final touchdown ending the game with a Steelers win. You can still hear the pain in Fitzgerald's voice more than ten years later. “Uhhh man, it's just like pure heartbreak,” Fitzgerald told In the Moment's David Greene. “It's a feeling of despair [and] hurt that's really hard to even express.” Fitzgerald last played in 2020. He says he's now focused on supporting his community as executive chair of the Arizona Super Bowl Host committee. He's also a minority owner of the Phoenix Suns and in 2005 launched The Larry Fitzgerald Foundation in honor of his mother, who passed away as a result of breast cancer in 2003. We return with a treat. Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie was a great player but an ever better storyteller and entertainer. On this episode he chops it up with Bryant McFadden about his football journey. Just like the dynamic on All Things Covered, DRC grew up in a football family with his older cousin Antonio Cromartie and little cousin Isaiah Rodgers (currently on the Colts) making it to the league. He explains what that instilled in him from a young age. Dominique also explains how he ended up at Tennessee State and the motivation he received while playing at an HBCU. Rodgers-Cromartie remembers racing Chris Johnson and realizing there might be someone faster than him. We hear about DRC's rookie season with the Cardinals which went great until Ben Roethlisberger connected with Santonio Holmes in the back of the end zone in Super Bowl 43. Boo-ray tales make a return to the show as DRC and BMac tell some great stories from the Cardinals locker room. The conversation continues to cover different teams DRC played for including the 'Dream Team' Eagles, 2013 Broncos who lost to the Seahawks in the Super Bowl and the Giants during Odell Beckham Jr.'s polarizing rookie season. Super Bowl XLIII MVP and former NFL wide receiver, Santonio Holmes, joins The Brink of Midnight Podcast. Best known for his Super Bowl XLIII game winning catch with the Pittsburgh Steelers against the Arizona Cardinals, arguably one of the most powerful pieces of Super Bowl history, Santonio's story from very modest upbringing to being the ultimate teammate is nothing short of inspiring. Hailing from Belle Glade, the third poorest city in Florida, Santonio is a powerful example of what hard work and dedication can become, regardless of background. As a triple letterman in track, football, and basketball, he helped his high school track and football teams win multiple state championships. That streak continued in college football at Ohio State University, where he was part of the 2002 BCS National Championship team. In the NFL, Santonio played for the Pittsburgh Steelers, Chicago Bears, and New York Jets. Santonio is the first to credit teammates and the importance of teamwork in his success, and he knows more than a thing or two about caring for others. He started raising his three younger siblings, each from different fathers, at the tender age of eight years old. That care extended to his grandmother and to serving others when he chose to follow the path of faith at age 12. His devotion to family, friends, teammates, and strangers is the center of his life and he is deeply passionate about helping those with sickle cell disease, which his son has and the gene for which Santonio carries. He founded the Third and Long Foundation to provide financial support and treatment options for families affected by the disease. This conversation will bring you back to your roots, your center, and what is most important in life.  For full show notes, visit: www.brinkofmidnight.com | Contact: info@brinkofmidnight.com | Connect: @brinkofmidnight (twitter, instagram, Facebook)

The Total Tutor will interview Super Bowl Champion Santonio Holmes. He will discuss why he started his foundation, what it entails, and his mission. Santonio Holmes Jr. (born March 3, 1984) is a wide receiver who is currently a free agent. He was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the first round of the 2006 NFL Draft after playing college football at Ohio State. In 2009, Holmes was named MVP of Super Bowl XLIII. Holmes was traded to the Jets in 2010 in exchange for the Jets' fifth round pick and after performing well, he was signed to a five-year extension during the offseason. Holmes was criticized after he was benched for arguing with a teammate at the end of the 2011 season and his 2012 season ended prematurely after suffering a lisfranc injury.
