1/9/25: NBC Sports Analyst And Buckeyes National Champion LB Joshua Perry Previews Notre Dame-Penn State, Ohio State-Texas & So Much More!
In today's podcast: John discusses the biggest takeaways from the regular season finale, including the Bengals missing the playoffs, the Lions clinching the #1 seed in the NFC, the Buccaneers winning the NFC South for the 4th straight year and Mike Evans ends the season with 1,000 receiving yards again, and the Patriots losing the #1 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. Then, he discusses the interesting dynamics of this coaching carousel by ranking how attractive each of the six openings are, and if he is surprised that only two general manager jobs (the Jets and Titans) are vacant this year. Then, he will preview the College Football Playoff Semifinals and pick the winners of the Notre Dame-Penn State showdown in the Orange Bowl and the Ohio State vs. Texas clash in the Cotton Bowl.
With the NFL postseason finally here, Ryan McDaniel is joined by Matt Mormann to take a look at all six games. First though, a look back at their pre-season predictions, a discussion on the close races for MVP and Coach of the Year, the coaching carousel beginning, and the Titans in the news for the wrong reasons (3:04). Then, they tackle the Wild Card games, including if the Broncos can keep up with the Bills, will there be any defense in Commanders vs Bucs, and can the Eagles find their passing game against the Packers (34:23). Next, Ryan previews and makes his predictions on the CFP semifinals games between Notre Dame-Penn State and Ohio State-Texas (1:10:04). Love the pod? Good morning and Happy New Year to all! Welcome to The Anthony Gargano Show. There was an official announcement yesterday stating that Saquon Barkley and most of the starters will sit out Week 18 against the New York Giants. Last week, Barkley made it into the 2,000-yard club when playing against the Cowboys, finishing just 100 yards shy of the all-time record. Jalen Hurts remains under concussion protocol and is unlikely to play this week against the Giants. College football achieved a record high on New Year's Eve and Day, with Penn State, Ohio State, and Texas advancing to the next playoff round. Tonight, Notre Dame and Georgia are set to compete after their match was postponed due to a tragic attack in New Orleans. Our thoughts are with those affected by this incident and the families involved.
Today's Rapid Fire topics include: * We predict where Notre Dame will be in the first College Football Playoff rankings. * Fill-in the blank...It's BLANK that Marcus Freeman says Jordan Botelho plans to return to Notre Dame next year. * Would you rather have a coach like Freeman who has shown he can win big games, but also has a few bad upset losses under his belt, or James Franklin who has 11 more years of experience but can't win games that matter? * The Penn State – Ohio State game was Saturday's biggest game of the day. Penn State fans were mad that it kicked off at Noon and not in primetime. Which would you prefer? * Fill-in the blank...Olivia Miles turning in a triple double in her first game back after missing all of last season with injury is BLANK. * Tampa Bay head coach Todd Bowles played for overtime and kicked the extra point rather than going for two and the win at the end of regulation in Kansas City. Do you Buy or Sell the move? * Today's NFL trade deadline day. The Cowboys traded a fourth round pick for Carolina receiver Jonathon Mingo at the same time they placed Dak Prescott on IR with a hamstring injury. Do you Buy or Sell the Cowboys being buyers? However, all of the questions yesterday dealt with the team's loss to the Buckeyes on Saturday. We'll dive into the meaningful conversation about the team's loss and specifically highlight Penn State's offensive struggles in big games. Reporter Nate Bauer has a better read of what Franklin means when he speaks than anyone on the Penn State football beat. He'll interpret what Franklin meant when discussing his team, staff, and performance from Monday. Today, we'll focus on the team's offensive performance.
