Luigi Piccatto era infatti parte del team creativo dell'Indagatore dell'Incubo sin dagli esordi della testata, di cui aveva disegnato già il numero 8, "Il ritorno del mostro", e di cui è stato uno degli autori più prolifici. La sua linea chiara, rotonda, espressiva, ha caratterizzato alcuni degli albi più amati dai lettori, da "Cagliostro!" a "I conigli rosa uccidono", da "Grand Guignol" a "Golconda!".Nato a Torino nel luglio del 1954, Piccatto aveva esordito professionalmente nel 1977 sulle pagine di "Corrier Boy", per poi passare su quelle di "Skorpio" e "LancioStory". E anche dopo l'approdo in Bonelli, aveva continuato a collaborare con il "Corriere dei Piccoli".La sua collaborazione con la Casa editrice di Via Buonarroti si è naturalmente sviluppata soprattutto sugli albi di Dylan Dog, per allargarsi occasionalmente anche a testate come Magico Vento e Nathan Never. Il racconto è uno dei meritati vincitori del concorso delle 13 Lune e costituisce un raro esempio di narrazione poetico-scientifica, mescolando bene termini tecnici con descrizioni toccanti e profonde.
