The Republic believes it holds the upper hand, but control is an illusion. Inside the prison walls, power moves in whispers and shadows, traded like currency among those who refuse to be caged. Some seek escape, others seek vengeance, and a few understand that patience is its own kind of weapon. A storm contained is not a storm extinguished. And in a place where survival depends on deception, identities are never as they seem.Cast:Donna Maxwell as Lourna DeeDarin Colt as Councilor Wittick Talia Wright as Ola HestMike Lockley as BalaLisa Moon as TasiaMaria Jackson as Councilor FryDavid Silverstein as Pan EytaNira Smith as Sestin Zane Washington as RaleighJaxon Cole as Andrik KellerKorin Dane as KassavEric Vassar as H7-09Ariana Storm as Avar Kriss Pam Nyx as Keeve Trennis Jason Odiega as Marchion Ro Matt Flinn as SskeerMira Lune as Nib Assek Samantha Porter as MuglanErika Ozborn As QuinJeremy Hayworth as Asgar RoDean Baker as Yudiah DeeLukus Mathews as ParrScrip Preparation by Matti TurnerSound design by Theodor ThomsonWe hope you enjoy today's show. A dangerous figure has been captured. Locked away in the depths of their high-security facility, this prisoner is just another name on a list, another loose thread in a galaxy still reeling from war. But storms do not simply disappear. They gather strength in silence, waiting for the perfect moment to break free. And in the shadows of this prison, something is already beginning to shift.Cast:Donna Maxwell as Lourna DeeDarin Colt as Councilor Wittick Talia Wright as Ola HestMike Lockley as BalaLisa Moon as TasiaMaria Jackson as Councilor FryDavid Silverstein as Pan EytaNira Smith as Sestin Zane Washington as RaleighJaxon Cole as Andrik KellerKorin Dane as KassavEric Vassar as H7-09Ariana Storm as Avar Kriss Pam Nyx as Keeve Trennis Jason Odiega as Marchion Ro Matt Flinn as SskeerMira Lune as Nib Assek Samantha Porter as MuglanErika Ozborn As QuinJeremy Hayworth as Asgar RoDean Baker as Yudiah DeeLukus Mathews as ParrScrip Preparation by Matti TurnerSound design by Theodor ThomsonWe hope you enjoy today's show. The Acolyte may be on the horizon, but the day shines bright on the High Republic in print form. One of the most impactful authors in the series has been Cavan Scott, author of The Rising Storm, Tempest Runner, Path of Vengeance, multiple comics series, and the upcoming Tempest Breaker in December 2024. Cavan teaches us more about his writing process, his influences in driving character development, and his plentiful action figures. Welcome to LucasFilles, a French Star Wars podcast created in 2019. This is our first interview in English for the channel (there is a French dubbed version as well of this episode for our French-speaking audience). We had the honor to interview Cavan Scott during a SW French Convention and we focused mostly on his work on the Tempest-Runner audio drama, which is released in June for the French public. High Republic fans, enjoy, since Cavan Scott is as delightful as ever. This week Mike is doing another spoiler-free book review from the High Republic era, now venturing into the second wave, starting with The Rising Storm by Cavan Scott – the “main adult” novel with a huge amount of characters, major plot points and shocking moments! In more detail, for the first half of the episode, Mike gives a bit of information on the other releases for The High Republic (the first two waves within Phase 1), gives some background/plot information on the book and then delves into his spoiler-free review; providing information from the blurb, the themes, how it continues from Light Of The Jedi, what he enjoyed about it, which characters have returned and details found within the first few pages. From around the halfway mark, Mike reads out the blurb & crawl before providing more details on the characters and their general journeys/thoughts, the state of the Republic at the start of this book, the wider themes and how they impact story elements, as well as how it fits in with other High Republic material, which all falls into light-spoiler territory. He then talks about “connected content”, primarily the tie-in High Republic comics and gives a mini-review of the Tempest Runner audio drama before giving plenty of warning and delving into his more detailed review, which still doesn't fully spoil the book but it does mention some plot details right at the very end, so you can listen to as little or as much info about The Rising Storm before picking it up yourself. The Rising Storm was released June 29th 2021 by Cavan Scott. He has also written the Dooku Jedi Lost audio drama, The Tempest Runner audio drama (set just after this book), as well as one story from each A Certain Point Of View book, all of Marvel's standard The High Republic comics plus several titles under Star Wars Adventures for IDW publishing including the Monster Of Temple Peak mini-series, all 3 sets of Vader's Castle stories and Adventures In Wild Space. The Rising Storm is the adult novel of the second wave of the High Republic's first phase along with Out Of The Shadows and Race To Crashpoint Tower, while Wave 3 (due early 2022) will include Claudia Gray's “adult” novel The Fallen Star plus junior-novel Mission To Disaster and young-adult novel Midnight Horizon. From the first wave of phase 1 is Light Of The Jedi, A Test Of Courage & Into The Dark, which Mike has reviewed on this show in 2021; LotJ was March, AToC was August and ItD was October. Mike also spoke with fellow THR author Claudia Gray on December 12th 2020 on this very channel/feed, so make sure you check that out if you haven't already, plus Mike spoke with Star Wars comic artist Paolo Villanelli on the feed of his other show Genuine Chit-Chat (video version also on YouTube). Back to the High Republic with a brand new audio drama: Tempest Runner by Cavan Scott. This twisty tale lays out the life of Nihil all-star, Lourna Dee. It's a little bit Solo, a little bit Orange is the New Black, and at times very, very confusing. Beth, Ryan, and Chad have a few questions about this project, the foremost being: "why?". Also, we break down our favorite (and least favorite) alien species from that wacky faraway galaxy we love so much. The Skywalker saga may be over, but there are enough books to keep Star Wars fans satisfied for years to come. Chad, Ryan, and Beth have started a series to keep you up to date on all the action. Join our book club as we run down the best that canon, legends, and comics have to offer. Music by Lester Dragstredt of http://www.themysterymenofsurf.com/ (The Mystery Men?) This week Mike is doing another spoiler-free book review from the High Republic era; Into The Dark by Claudia Gray! Although the book is a “young adult” novel, it's still an excellent read for teenagers & adults alike and is part of the first wave of the first phase of High Republic content, focusing primarily on padawan Reath Silas & the drengir! In more detail, for the first half of the episode, Mike gives a bit of information on the other releases for The High Republic (the first two waves within Phase 1) and then delves into his spoiler-free review; primarily providing information from the blurb and within the first few pages; talking about the book's themes, what he enjoyed about it and how it impacts the rest of The High Republic. In the second half, Mike provides more details on the characters within the story and gives examples on how the book's themes work with the story being told and how it fits in with other High Republic material, which falls into light-spoiler territory. He gives plenty of warning before delving into his more detailed review, so you can listen to as little or as much info about Into The Dark before picking it up yourself – Mike ends the review with a general overview of the other High Republic books (released & soon to be released) and talking about where they fit chronologically with the comics & other High Republic content. Into The Dark was released February 2nd 2021 by Claudia Gray. She has also written the young adult novels Lost Stars and Leia: Princess Of Alderaan, as well as the “adult” novels Master & Apprentice and Bloodline. She has also recently announced The Fallen Star; the third “adult” book in The High Republic era. Into The Dark is from Phase 1, Wave 1 of The High Republic, also in Wave 1 is Light Of The Jedi and A Test Of Courage. Phase 1, Wave 2 includes The Rising Storm, Out Of The Shadows and Race To Crashpoint Tower and Wave 3 (due early 2022) will include Claudia Gray's “adult” novel The Fallen Star plus junior-novel Mission To Disaster and young-adult novel Midnight Horizon. Mike also interviewed Claudia Gray on December 12th 2020 on this very feed, so make sure you check that out if you haven't already! Other High Republic content currently available includes; Light Of The Jedi – an “adult” novel by Charles Soule, A Test Of Courage – a junior novel by Justina Ireland, The High Republic comics by Cavan Scott and High Republic Adventures comics by Daniel José Older, plus Cavan Scott's sequel novel to Light Of The Jedi, named The Rising Storm is available now along with Out Of The Shadows by Justina Ireland, Race To Crashpoint Tower by Daniel José Older and the audio drama; Tempest Runner, also by Cavan Scott. Check out the last episode of SWCIC for the third full chapter in the War Of The Bounty Hunters crossover, with a ton of action, characters & connections! Join Mike as he takes you through the 6 issues where Valance & Dengar are hunted by Deathstick, Zuckuss gets more canon backstory, Qi'ra takes on Darth Vader, Boba Fett fights everyone's favourite wookiee and Luke reflects on his time against the dark lord all while Aphra & Sana Starros try to hide from the action while stealing some high-value artifacts – all of this plus many facts & connections from Mike! Killed off? We Loved that it was Sunny in Kamino the day after Tipoca City was destroyed. Bad Batch could not get Crosshair to leave with them. We loved that the tubes they were created in, were also the ones that saved them at the end. Where do we go from here?
