Chachy of Round Eye   Round Eye, the experimental freak punk outfit have accrued quite a loud and controversial name for themselves since forming in 2012. The Shanghai based group have shown no mercy nor fatigue in sound development or work ethic and have as of late been a crucial force in bridging a wide gap between the eastern and western hemispheres of punk rock. Along with blazing a gnarly trail all over the globe (USA, Mexico, S. Korea, Japan) they've toured the mainland of China a number of times and have played host to visiting western groups and some legends as well. They've shared stages with western groups such as D.O.A., The FUs, Paul Collins Beat, M.O.T.O., Ceremony, and Iceage, eastern groups such as P.K.14,SMZB and Misandao during a tour with UK punk legends The Boys. They've won the “Best Local Band” title from Shanghai's City Weekend magazine two years in a row. They've released two music videos (one starring famed Chinese actress Wang Lin) and honed their unconventional blend of 50s R&B and Punk with a critically acclaimed EP “Full Circle” on Ripping/Genjing Records which featured Greg Ginn (Black Flag) and have drawn comparisons to the Stooges, Dr. Feelgood and The Fall. Currently, they are set to drop their eponymous LP Round Eye which features saxophonist Steve Mackay (Stooges/Violent Femmes) andR. Although I have a montly new release episode, I don’t really have a place for new reissues, compilations, live albums, and other odd releases such as that. Once in a while, I do throw a reissued track or two in the new release show, but for the most part it’s hard to find a spot for them in my usual themed shows. So tonight those types of releases get their own theme. I can’t say it’s all archival material, though, as there are new recordings by the likes of Los Lobos, The Descendents, and The Beat-Hells. But for the most part, tonight’s show comes from the type of releases I mentioned before. There’s archival collections of bands such as The Outsiders, R. Stevie Moore, and David Bowie. There are rare tracks from reissues of classics by George Harrison, Mudhoney, The White Stripes, and many others. And there’s quite a few great cover tunes. I would love it if every listener bought at least one record I played on either of these shows. These great artists deserve to be compensated for their hard work, and every purchase surely helps not only pay their bills but fund their next set of wonderful […]

Welcome back to The Originals Podcast! We're thankful for each person who engages with our community, for your feedback and for sharing these conversations, so more people hear about us and the incredible people we get to meet. If you're loving what you're hearing, we'd love for you to leave us a review, to help more people find community within Originals. Now, if you haven't listened to Part 1 of this two-part episode, titled "Everything Matters - Conscious Living with Stevie" stop reading and listen to Part 1 first. It serves as a preface for this episode. In Part 1, Stevie shares about the work she's a part of through NFP organisation, The RT Foundation. The story of how Stevie became involved with what was the beginnings of theThe RT Foundation, at just 18 years of age, was the catalyst for a career shift and claimed a new mandate and purpose for her life therafter. Pre-COVID, Stevie would basically spend equal time in India as she does Australia each year. So, she's taken the opportunity, while international travel is on pause, to work remote and to see more of our beautiful country, living and travelling in her bus with ther two sons, aged 9 and 11. Stevie applies the concept of "conscious living" in her parenting, consumption of food and material pocessions, her general outlook on life and realationship with people and the world around. She's educating her children in a way that they wont become immune to the injustices they see in the world, rather advocate for the voiceless and instigate change wherever they can. We're inspired by what Stevie shares and think youwill be too. We hope you enjoy this episode! "If we all lived a little differently, if we were all more aware, more conscious and more deliberate with how we live, we'd be living in a different planet. We are so much more empowered to build a better world - It's often in the small things. It starts with diving in, letting yourself be uncomfortable, exposing yourself to the injustice to the point where the things you currently do in your life, are too hard to do anymore." Well, if this two-part episode doesn't become your new favourite, we don't know what will. Caleb & GK were so thrilled and honoured to sit down with Stevie Moore, to gain insight into Stevie's world of conscious living, conscious parenting and in part one, her work with the NFP Organisation, The RT Foundation. Stevie identifies that from a young age, she was burdened by social injustice. At just 18 years of age, when she first travelled to India with what was then the beginnings of The RT Foundation, a few stand-out experiences were the catalyst for a career shift and claimed a new mandate and purpose for her life thereafter. Trained as a Project Development Officer, Stevie, with The RT Foundation, will approach communities, work with local people, assess the need, of which they're always already aware, and devise projects/programs to help bring growth, development and most important of all, empowerment to individuals and communities. In this episode, Stevie unpacks some of the cultural systems that perpetuate social injustice in India, an update on how COVID has rocked and is still devastating the Nation, how The RT Foundation has pivotted to direct aid where there is the greatest need, and gives some super insightful and inspiring, practical next-steps to how you can start to live a little more consciously. Stay tuned for Part 2 - Out Next Wednesday! For more information, visit https://www.thertfoundation.org.au or check out The RT Foundation on instagram (https://www.instagram.com/the_rt_foundation/). In The Past: Garage Rock Podcast

In Part 2, we banter about the bands who have reached the 96th Tier (the highest echelon) of "96 Tears" cover versions.  First up is Zeus's favourite band, Los Thunder Boys from Costa Rica (1:08) . Their 1966 rendition is fast, surfy, and sans organ?!?!?! How do they get away with it? Well, the drummer has us ridin' the big wave of the Middle Eight, and we go gaga over the singer's growly, passionate, and vulnerable vocals so you don't even notice the keys are desaparacido. Fast forward to 1978 to hear R.  Stevie Moore's stab at the song (24:39). It's a goofy great from outer space, and RSM heps us to why 96 is ultimately a better number than 69. A crucial digression on straitjackets and quicksand ensues.  An expedition into the 80s has us checkin' out Thelma Houston's R&B/disco entry into the Too Many Teardrops sweepstakes (1:00:40). Her sly, foxy version contains a Funkytown fragment, a boppin' bass in the Middle 8, and the guitarist finally gets a spotlight. Finally, we go to Canada's Boiler Room - Edmonton, Alberta - to have The Nitehawks fade us out (1:27:21)

It might just be that I was born paranoid...but the stores with long waiting lines and empty shelves. What are the powers that be preparing us for? I know I'm not an elite member, I can't even find powdered milk anywhere. Where will we all be when societal civility ends? How freaking far away is that? The Leftscape
The Endicott Dreams of Gary Wilson (Episode 51)

Gary Wilson, the rightfully self-declared "King of Endicott" is an off-the-beaten-path musician who in his own outsider way is living the dream. About a month before heading out on his July-August U.S. tour, Gary took the time to chat with superfan Robin Renée about his career from its beginnings with the band Lord Fuzz to being rediscovered in the 1990s and re-rediscovered at the start of the new millennium. He flows through stories of his childhood in Endicott, NY, adventures in hippie/post-hippie/pre-punk New York City of the late 60s and early 70s, and his current collaboration with kindred spirit, R. Stevie Moore. Gary shares his thoughts on politics in the arts, talks about what keeps him fascinated with his early years and influences, and sheds light on his "tormented teen idol" aesthetic. In News, Wendy Sheridan leads the discussion on the real-time tragedy of migrant camps in the U.S. and the Close the Camps protests manifesting around the country. Also in the news is Robert Mueller's testimony coming up on July 17th and Mueller-related artistic and awareness-raising endeavors. Robin reports on her attendance at World Pride / Stonewall 50. At the top of the show, Mary McGinley sends birthday shout outs to a motley crew including Nikola Tesla, E.B. White, Richard Simmons, Harrison Ford, Patrick Stewart, David Hasselhoff, Angela Merkel, Vin Diesel, Nelson Mandela, John Glenn, Cat Stevens and others. More reasons to celebrate are National Cheer Up the Lonely Day (July 11th), National Nude Day (July 14th), National Toss Away the "Could Haves/Should Haves" Day (July 20th), as well as Junk Food Day, Ice Cream Day, and Be Someone Day (July 21st). Things to do: Listen to Robin Renée's full interview with Gary Wilson in an Episode 51 bonus post. Watch "The Investigation: A Search for the Truth in Ten Acts." Read "Too Much Coffee Man's Creator is Turning the Mueller Report Into a Graphic Novel." Like Gary Wilson on Facebook and follow him on Twitter. Stevie Moore httpss://www.youtube.com/watch?v=74Ke21mBVvQ Watch "Linda Wants to be Alone" httpss://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G1rZuSGcd-Q Check for show details and go see Gary on tour!
