Before we introduce our incredible guest we want to scream HAPPY PRIDE!!!!!!!!! from the rooftops! Don't be a drag, just be a queen, you hear? Speaking of being OUT and PROUD, this week's guest is comedian and toast of the town....Mr. Brad Loekle!!! In honor of his lack of knowledge of numbers and his mom being a smarty CPA, we start our school day off in Home Ec where we play HOT TAX TAKE where Lindsey attempts to make taxes sexy and it's definitely more lukewarm than it is hot. Then we head on over to Art Conservation class where we learn the difference between Renovation, Restoration, Preservation and Conservation and then forget what they all mean and never ever think about it again.  During recess, Brad tells us how he bullied his school to start a theatre program so he could star in a "Little Shop Of Horrors" knock-off called "Little Luncheonette Of Terrors" where he played a lizard person named Mongo. If you aren't stopping everything that you are currently doing to listen to this episode then we don't know what to tell you.  After learning of Mongo the lizard person we head back to class and play "Get Our Kicks with Stevie Nicks" where we test Brad's knowledge in everything Stevie Nicks and it turns out that he knows ALMOST everything about this queen and more.  Then Kelly takes us to History Class where we learn about historic whores of Gay Paris because, well, this episode is gay and full of whores.  Will Brad take the crown? Will Lindsey make it rain? Will Kelly break her losing streak? SHE DOES! SHE DOES! This week we had the honor of interviewing someone who has STAIRS IN HIS APARTMENT. Can you believe it?! That's right! This week, comedian and musician Morgan Jay went upstairs in his own apartment and recorded from his podcast room and we couldn't be more delighted to be a part of it. The podcast room could actually be downstairs but who is counting? We start our school day off in "Classics Class" where Lindsey attempts to refresh the memory of Morgan Jay, a former Classics minor. The problem is that he doesn't remember most things on the subject which gives Kelly a fighting chance. Come on, Kelly! Then Kelly takes us to Literature class where we play "Banned Book Nook" where we talk about books that have been banned in schools and the salacious ones just make us want to read them more.  In recess we tell some embarrassing stories that will pull at your heartstrings and we get to hear Morgan riff on the keyboard a bit. Spoiler: Autotune shows up and makes a killer appearance. You don't want to miss her.  Then Lindsey takes us over Home Ec where we play "Money Matters" in honor of Morgan's position as school treasurer when he was in high school.  I mean, what CAN'T this guy do?! We end our school day in Student Government because MORGAN JAY WAS ALSO CLASS PRESIDENT HIS FRESHMAN AND SOPHOMORE YEAR AND LIKE, UGH!... We want to hate him but he's actually really cool and we really want to be his friend.  Will Kelly get only 3 sad points? Will Lindsey tell a never-before-heard story about the time she scored drugs for DAVE MATTHEWS BAND? Will Morgan Jay want to be friends with Kelly and Lindsey when this is all over? Your doggo will not be disappointed.   We start the day off in Social Studies class where we learn what Social Studies even is, and that Australia may have had (definitely did not) a little-known (because it's not true) connection to the Louisiana Purchase!   Then, because Killy mentioned that she participated in pageants when she was younger, Lindsey wrote a game (for what class, who even knows) about pageants. In real time she is informed that Killy meant Christmas pageants which Lindsey knows nothing about because she's Jewish, so...oh well! Let's learn about beauty pageants!   At Recess we talk about Killy's songwriting passion that she turned into a business, and play the incredible ditty Lindsey commissioned Killy to write about Kelly for her birthday! Even with a skeleton crew, the poll workers in our town are breaking records! We expect plenty more voters and many more ballots cast before Election Day. This will be a truly historic election cycle.Part II is our discussion about the FBI. Susan discusses the history of the organization, its founding and the first Director, J. Edgar Hoover, who kept stern discipline throughout his organization while also keeping secret files on D.C. political figures, who were terrified of him. Hoover, in turn, never went near the Mafia, because they had their own files (and seriously compromising material) on him and his own secret life, as well. How to Find Joy and Peace in Difficult Times: When Kelly Blackmon was a child, his parents were drug addicts and he grew up in one of the worst neighborhoods on the west side of Chicago. His family moved from there to the projects. After a fall when he was three years old, his parents were told that if he lived he’d have severe brain damage. In addition, Kelly is Black man in America and he has every reason to believe in his failure. However, this year has been the best year of his life. Even with COVID. Even with all the racism. And it's due to his faith. Not faith like we think of it. Like "Blind faith". Kelly says faith is like watching the pattern and being able to see 2, 4, 6, 8 and knowing that if he’s asked what's next, he can say 10 with certainty. That's where Kelly lives. Consequently, it's brought him a great deal of joy and peace and comfort in times that are any but.   About Kelly: Kelly is the Owner of B.E. Consulting, a Chicago based consulting firm specializing in life and career coaching. Kelly specializes in helping people find their "why" through understanding themselves and letting themselves off the hook for their old perceptions.   In a small way, this is his version of saving the world. Furthermore, Kelly comes at every situation; every interaction, from a place of love. His belief is that it will help to make each person just a little bit better. And voila, the world starts to slowly shift from the butterfly effect. Hence, his company’s name, where B.E. Consulting.   Episode Highlights: First, Emily introduces Kelly and they talk about the power of networking Then Kelly explains how he came up with the name for his business. Kelly explains his approach to life - love. Self mastery is important to Kelly. No one can take his joy away. Being comfortable with yourself is key to finding joy. Kelly talks about his childhood and growing up as a Black man in America. A turning point in Kelly’s life was when he was in his 20’s and wanted to commit suicide. He didn’t feel valuable. The morning Kelly was going to rob a McDonalds, his friend backed out and Kelly decided to back out too. Next, Kelly describes his journey of self discovery and self love.  Furthermore, Kelly helps others find their value and purpose. Both of Kelly’s parents were addicted to drugs when he was growing up.  He has a lot of reasons he could give up - it would totally fit. However, Kelly chooses to be different. It’s a decision to let go of victimhood. Also, the power of choice is huge - it changes everything.  Emily asks Kelly how he helps people let go of victimhood. Next, Emily and Kelly talk about the challenges of being an entrepreneur. Entrepreneurs need to know how to pivot and your inner compassion can tell you if you’re headed in the wrong direction. Then Emily asks Kelly to talk about a time when he failed. After that, Emily and Kelly talk about how these failures contributed to his successes. Kelly talks about authenticity and the importance of sharing our failures and times when we’re afraid. Next, Emily asks Kelly about one of his insane wackiest ideas. Why did Kelly start coaching others?   Finally, Kelly is Your favorite coaches favorite coach!   Resources Mentioned: Connect with Kelly on LinkedIn Kelly’s Website B.E. This week we talk to Dani Faith Leonard - producer, comedian, host of 'Adult Sex Ed', and one of Lindsey's best college buddies.  They reminisce about the good 'ole days in their abusive University of Miami theatre program (there was a day called "Gun Day" you guys) and Dani talks about growing up on Long Island as a artsy, liberal Jew in a conservative, remedial town.   First, Lindsey takes us to Marching Band, where we learn about some of the disgusting scandals that mar one of Dani's sacred pastimes.  Then Kelly takes us to History class where the girls discuss the Ancient Wonder of the Ancient World (don't worry, they don't know what they were either) and the difference between poofs and ottomans.   For Recess the girls are cast in Dani's play that she wrote at age 11, a reimagining of Shakespeare's 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' through the lens of Seinfeld.  Then Lindsey takes us to English class for an annoying game of "Spelling Bee Harder" where she makes us spell, define, and make up examples of word concepts we don't know.   Kelly's last game is Biology (because Dani said she hated science class as a kid) where we are once again schooled in Kelly's apparent favorite subject - animal sex.   Finally, Dani takes us to 'Adult Sex Ed' where we learn what snakes, mites, and pubic hair have in common, and discuss some really disturbing oldey-timey names for vagina.   Obviously Dani wins.  Stay for her rousing Valedictorian speech which is basically just a great PSA to women everywhere and a nice little fuck you to a douchebag from HS.   Follow Dani Faith: https://www.instagram.com/danifleonard/   Adult Sex Ed: https://www.instagram.com/adultsexed/     Follow the show's Insta: https://www.instagram.com/kellyandlindsey/     Follow Kelly: instagram.com/kelly_wallacebarnowl     Follow Lindsey: instagram.com/lindseygentile     Show theme provided by Mike Etten: instagram.com/mike_etten/     BLACK LIVES MATTER RESOURCE CARRD: https://blacklivesmatters.carrd.co/   VOTE!   Rate, Review, Subscribe Live, Laugh, Love Arrest the cops who killed Breonna Taylor.  No one is free until we are all free. https://justiceforbreonna.org/

This week Kelly and Lindsey talk into their computers with DcHe. aka Daneé and talk about the good old days waiting tables. Just kidding! Those days were horrible and we thank god every day that we aren't working in a restaurant anymore. PSA: Please make sure to take care of your waiters, postmaters, and anyone who brings you anything ever, especially during these times.    Lindsey starts the school day off with Geography class where the ladies play a game called CalifornYorkA or NevadaYorkIA in honor of DcHe.'s old stomping grounds of Cali, NY and Las Vegas.   Then Kelly heads Yearbook team-class-group-committee because we are excited to announce that Daneé's yearbook won best yearbook in the world - thanks to her! We don't know if that's what they actually won but they won something big and we are super proud of her.  Maybe she'll release the documents to prove it and maybe she won't.   In Recess we learn that DcHe. quit everything as a child and finally learned how to kick a ball as an adult in an adult kickball league.  We also learn a bit more about breastfeeding and Lindsey's moms tatas than we bargained for.   Lindsey is then forced by Kelly to be the Math teacher and she decides she's never teaching math again because it's horrible and nothing makes sense. You're welcome everyone.    Because Daneé wanted to be a model when she grew up, Kelly takes us to modeling class where we strut our stuff and compete to be America's Next Top Model. Not really but we do shake our little tush on the catwalk.    We were bad so we get sent to Detention after school where we find out how much we don't know about African-American studies AKA American History with guest teacher DcHe.   Listen up to hear more about DcHe., how much Lindsey knows about models and how bad Kelly is at math. Today an amazing freedom story with one of our listeners, Kelly Reenders:  A story of healing with the power to create hope where there may be none.  Kelly and her husband own a blueberry farm here in West Michigan.  Last week (May 7th show) we had JS Parks, author of “The Lies We Carry” on the show.  That prompted Kelly to message us with her story of Jesus shattering the lies she believed about herself which led to being healed from chronic physical pain.  So first Kelly shares her journey of pain that began with trauma, lasted for years, and how Jesus healed her.  Then Kelly shares how the healing began:  Her daughter, a nurse practitioner, came across the book “Unlearn Your Pain” by Dr. Howard Schubiner.  That book began her journey to healing.  Next Kelly had tried everything to find relief from her pain but she finally gave up thinking, “This is just how it’s gonna be. I’m just going to hurt every single day of my life and I’m just going to have to deal with it.” That was when she finally picked up Dr. Schubiner’s book (she really didn’t believe it would help).  Then Kelly shares about her battle with fear that kept her from facing the wounds and lies that were causing her years of pain.  There was only one thing helped her overcome her fears:  It’s something that needs to be firmly rooted in our heart of hearts.  Next Kelly shares the process of forgiving the ones who had wounded her as a teenager.  Wounds that led to so many years of pain.  Finally, if you’re in pain because of the wounds of the past, Kelly has final word of hope for you, and an offer.  If this encourages you, please share!
