Send us a textHave you ever tried to grow your social media following legitimately without resorting to bots or buying fake followers? I'm dropping some real knowledge today with my "hand-to-hand combat" method for Instagram growth – a simple strategy that involves following 50 people daily from legitimate accounts in your niche, letting it sit for a few days, then using data comparison to strategically unfollow those who didn't follow you back. This technique builds authentic engagement while keeping your account in good standing. My cinematic journey took me to Arizona Mills to see "Sinners" in 70mm IMAX format, enduring those old-school, straight-backed theater seats that reminded me of midnight premieres from years past. The experience was completely worth the back pain! I also caught "Final Destination: Bloodlines" and despite my skepticism about that 94% Rotten Tomatoes score (which felt like a payoff!), the storyline was solid even if the acting made me grimace. The most surprising development in my life? Picking up my first book since dropping out of school. Starting with "Good Morning Beautiful" by Daines L. Reed on a recommendation from a Barnes & Noble employee, I discovered my imagination could actually visualize what I was reading. Now I'm hooked, reading "Molly the Maid" and ordering Stephen King's "Later" – though my frugal decision to buy used might mean that book never arrives! Every morning, Winston (my dog) and I have a routine where I read aloud while he gazes out the window. It's a peaceful ritual that's opened up a whole new world for this formerly book-averse guy.Working in nightlife promotion for over a decade has kept me surrounded by 21-25 year olds, which explains why being called "Unk" feels like a Jigsaw trap moment. It's the brutal reality of aging, but at least my job has prevented the typical midlife crisis – no sports cars or motorcycles needed when you're still in the mix. Adam kicks off the show by reminiscing about his co-starring role in Wreck-It Ralph and the surprising reaction it still gets from fans. He then unveils yet another classic Al Pacino scene, this time with Jay Mohr putting his own spin on the character—proving once again that Pacino impressions never get old. From there, Adam riffs on coaster weight, the gnarly side effects of Niacin, Biden's cancer diagnosis, the sheer brilliance of pit crews, and the fine line between first and last place—not just in racing, but in life. Next, Jay Chandrasekhar joins the show and dives into:The universal boyhood obsession with foot speed (because being the fastest kid on the playground is basically royalty). His journey through comedy as an Indian kid in grade school, dealing with stereotypes and British influence over India. The decision to cast himself in movies and TV shows instead of waiting for Hollywood (considering the only Indian "stars" he saw were Fisher Stevens and Peter Sellers in brownface). The hilariously awkward story of wearing his wife's underpants (sometimes you just gotta improvise). Why comedy films should be communal experiences—because laughing alone just isn't the same.Jay and Adam also break down the realities of directing low-budget movies vs. TV shows, and Jay introduces his new app, VouchVault, which he swears will revolutionize review sites and help him finally get revenge on Rotten Tomatoes. They wrap up their chat by agreeing that seeing Phish live is overrated, and Jay shares his comedic influences: John Landis, Eddie Murphy, and Richard Pryor. Naturally, both Jay and Adam declare Spinal Tap the greatest comedy of all time. Jason "Mayhem" Miller joins the show and kicks off the news with a must-see clip of Adam singing "Big Bottoms" with John Popper. From there, the trio dives into the top stories of the day, including:Joe Biden's cancer diagnosis.NYC's most notorious repeat offender—a guy who's been caught 134 times for stealing and still hasn't stopped. And finally, the mind-blowing possibility of science turning lead into gold.Get it on!FOR MORE WITH JAY CHANDRASEKHAR:INSTAGRAM: @jaychandrasekharTWITTER: @jaychandrasekhaAPP: https://www.vouchvault.com/FOR MORE WITH JASON “MAYHEM” MILLER:INSTAGRAM: @mayhemmillerTWITTER: @mayhemmillerWEBSITE: magnvs.io/pages/summit?via=mayhemThank you for supporting our sponsors:BetOnlineCalderaLab.com/ADAMGo to https://hometitlelock.com/adamcarolla and use promo code ADAM to get a FREE title history report so you can find out if you're already a victim AND 14 days of protection for FREE! When the lights of the cinema dim and the hum of anticipation fills the air, something magical happens—stories come alive. And sometimes, the stories behind the storytellers are the most fascinating of all. On today's episode, we welcome Patrick Lee, a man whose quiet curiosity and geeky love for film statistics helped shape the very lens through which millions of people now view cinema. Patrick Lee is the co-founder of Rotten Tomatoes, a website that has become both a cultural barometer and a battleground for filmmakers and fans alike. Before Rotten Tomatoes became a household name, Patrick and his co-founders were merely tinkering with design and entertainment tech, creating websites for giants like Disney Channel and MTV. But like many innovative ideas, Rotten Tomatoes was born from a simple question: "What if people could see all the movie reviews—good and bad—in one place?" It was their creative director, Sen Duong, who initiated the project, running it as a side hustle until it became clear they were onto something far bigger than banner ads and online games. The journey wasn't smooth sailing. As Patrick explained, the film industry often has a conflicted relationship with Rotten Tomatoes. Studios love it when their movies are Certified Fresh but curse its very existence when the Tomato Meter goes south. “We've had studios threaten to pull ad campaigns or never advertise with us again,” Patrick revealed. It's a fine balance between journalistic integrity and business pragmatism, and it's one that Rotten Tomatoes walked with surprising grace—largely thanks to the team's belief in transparency and fairness. What's remarkable is how this digital compass evolved into a kind of cinematic moral authority. “The Tomato Meter is basically the percent chance that you'll like seeing a movie,” Patrick said. And therein lies its charm—it doesn't claim objectivity. It's not about whether a film is “good” in a vacuum. It's about consensus. It's about probability. It's about knowing whether you, dear viewer, are likely to leave the theater with a full heart or an empty wallet.Patrick also took us down a rabbit hole of changing critic landscapes. When Rotten Tomatoes began, the idea of a “professional critic” was easy to define: newspaper columnists, magazine reviewers, or syndicated television film buffs. Today, in an age of TikTok reviews and substack essays, that boundary has blurred. “Anybody can start a podcast or a YouTube channel,” he observed, echoing the democratization of media that defines our era. But for Rotten Tomatoes, quality still trumps quantity, and validation still requires rigorous standards.Perhaps one of the most unexpected parts of the conversation veered toward China, where Patrick spent nearly a decade after selling Rotten Tomatoes. There, he witnessed first-hand the explosive rise of filmgoing culture. “Even for some random movie, theaters were sold out for hours,” he noted. With state-of-the-art theaters rising from dusty streets and censorship shaping storylines, China has become both a new frontier and a mirror reflecting global shifts in entertainment priorities.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/indie-film-hustle-a-filmmaking-podcast--2664729/support.

GET YOUR MULTIVERSE NEWS MERCH HERE:https://multiverse-news-shop.fourthwall.com/Welcome to Multiverse News, Your source for Information about all your favorite fictional universesMarvel Studios is returning to its roots and the source of its inspiration – the comics! For the first time in the Marvel Cinematic Universe's history, the studio and the comic publishing arm of the company are collaborating to create a tie-in comic for The Fantastic Four: First Steps. While there have been official tie-in comics to the films before, it was a case of the comics working within the confines of what was already planned and established for the films, not a true collaboration from the ground up. To that end, Marvel has pulled out all the stops by bringing talent the likes of writer Matt Fraction, who was allowed to visit the films set along with other creators working on the comic. The comic, a one-shot that releases July 2, ahead of the film's July 25 release, is said to be designed to act as media that exists within the film's continuity.20th Century Studios released the teaser trailer for Predator: Badlands, the highly anticipated sequel to Dan Trachtenberg's Prey. The trailer, while brief at just over a minute, is jampacked with footage that includes vistas, locales, creatures and technology never seen within the franchise, including two mysterious characters: one being what seems to a Predator protagonist and Elle Fanning in an enigmatic, humanoid role who begs more questions than answers.A couple weeks ago we discussed the casting of several key figures in HBO's upcoming Harry Potter series, including John Lithgow as Hogwarts Headmaster, Albus Dumbledore. Now, while speaking the London Times last week, the actor revealed that he was not prepared for the resulting public outcries and backlash in response to his participation - given series creator J.K. Rowling's involvement; as Rowling's public transphobic stance and comments in recent years have been the subject of controversy. Elsewhere, David Tennant, who played Barty Crouch in the films, offered his appropriately timed insights on the author while receiving an allyship award at the British LGBT Awards, saying, “We shouldn't live in a world where that is worth remarking on — I don't wish ill of her, I just wish her to shut up.” The lines between the worlds of make believe and our real one are often blurry and the decision to separate art from a problematic artist is a complicated and personal one. The review embargo has lifted on Thunderbolts* and from 107 total reviews, the film currently has a certified fresh rating of 88% on Rotten Tomatoes. The upcoming prequel Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping has cast Joseph Zada as Haymitch Abernathy and Whitney Peak as his girlfriend, Lenore Dove Baird. Mckenna Grace will play District 12 tribute Maysilee Donner, Jesse Plemons will portray a young Plutarch Heavensbee, and the film is set for release on November 20, 2026.Netflix has released the first teaser trailer for the upcoming Jenna Ortega-led series Wednesday. The series will follow a split release schedule with part 1 dropping on August 6, and part 2 to follow on September 3.Sydney Sweeney is set to star in a film adaptation of hit video game “Split Fiction” with Jon M. Chu directing, Variety has learned. The script for the movie is being written by “Deadpool & Wolverine” screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick.Emma Mackey has been cast as the White Witch in Narnia, Greta Gerwig's adaptation of C.S. Lewis' The Chronicles of Narnia fantasy novels.Over the weekend, “Minecraft” collected $37.8 million overseas and $60.5 million worldwide in its fourth weekend of release. Meanwhile, “Sinners” added $13.5 million internationally and $58.5 million globally in its second week. For the second consecutive weekend, Warner has nabbed the No. 1 and 2 spots on international, domestic and global box office charts.
