Transition to Study Material: Joy: Jevon Perra announced the group was moving on to the topic of "joy" in their manual, "Manual for Teachers". Jevon Perra and Brian Genovese briefly sang a song with lyrics about having joy in their heart.Soo Kim's Status and Return: Soo Kim joined the call, apologizing for being on mute, and shared that they are doing okay and are finished with midterms for the week. Jevon Perra acknowledged that Soo Kim is managing a difficult schedule of full-time school and full-time work.Reading and Analysis of "Joy": Jevon Perra read a passage stating that joy is the "inevitable result of gentleness," which was the previous week's characteristic, and that gentleness makes harm and fear impossible. Jevon Perra connected the text to a spiritual concept that the joyous cannot suffer, referencing a verse about the sinless having no pain. They elaborated that suffering is linked to identifying with the physical body or the character, and that striving and difficulty, while necessary for the physical world, are also the destiny of a character that believes they are separate.God's Teachers and the Purpose of Salvation: The reading continued, affirming that God's teachers trust in God and are protected from harm, with joy serving as their song of thanks. The material suggests that Christ looks on them in thanks as well, noting Christ's need for them is as great as their need for Christ, and how "joyous is it to share the purpose of salvation".The Nature of God, Jesus, and Christ: Jevon Perra initiated a discussion about the distinction between God, Jesus, and Christ, spurred by a question from their eight-year-old about how the world kept going when Jesus was on Earth. Brian Genovese suggested that God puts things on autopilot, while Soo Kim offered the analogy of a dream, asking who takes care of the body while one is dreaming. The conversation shifted to the idea that science is beginning to align with spiritual explanations, but Jevon Perra criticized that current medical science can still cause harm.Spiral Dynamics and Expanding Identity: Jevon Perra introduced the concept of Spiral Dynamics, describing it as a framework for human social development from individuals striving for survival to expanding groups like families, villages, regions, and eventually countries. Jevon Perra noted that while people can expand their identity to include more and more individuals, there is always a tendency to define an "other" or an "enemy".God as Impersonal and Non-Dualism: Jevon Perra postulated that Jesus was an example of God incarnate, but that God is an impersonal, ever-present source, not a person. This perspective suggests that a person is a separate individual, whereas God is everything, including the good, the bad, and the indifferent. Brian Genovese agreed that "we label everything," and the non-dual explanation suggests there are no things or labels.Self-Realization and Character in the Dream: The speakers discussed that the character in the dream who remembers God is no different from anyone else, and every manifestation, including a rock, is "God stuff". They briefly discussed concepts related to a system of ladders or levels of consciousness and the idea that animals may operate as a group consciousness.Reading and Analysis of "Defenselessness": Soo Kim read the next passage, "Defenselessness," which states that God's teachers are simple and have "no dreams that need defense against the truth". The text concludes that laying down defenses does not bring danger but safety, peace, joy, and God.Defense as Attack and the Illusion of Guilt: Jevon Perra equated defense with attack, explaining that guilty people often see judgment and offense everywhere, and angry people constantly dish out attacks, which they often rationalize as defense or correcting what is right. Brian Genovese supported this idea, noting that people who feel the need to be right are often wrong and trying to defend the ego.Astrology, Defense Mode, and Internal State: Soo Kim provided an example from their class where a peer became defensive while discussing Western versus Vedic astrology, insisting that Vedic astrology was the only accurate system and attempting to make up explanations when confronted with conflicting data. Jevon Perra suggested that in such engagement, the most important thing is one's internal state, specifically whether they view the other person as a "beautiful expression of God" or an "imbecile".Pity versus Perfection and Separation: Soo Kim wondered if pity could be a step toward compassion, which Jevon Perra suggested is a step on a "continuum of resonance" towards the much higher resonance of seeing everyone as perfect. They concluded that pity is still a judgment and an expression of separation, where one views themselves as "better" than the person they are pitying.Time as a Construct and Limited Perception: Jevon Perra discussed the concept of time as a construct of diminished perception, a linear progression that creates the experience of a separate person. They stated that the reality of defenselessness is realizing that the contrived reality is "all not real" and that there is literally nothing to defend, including ideas like spiritual architecture. The Importance of Buoyancy and Letting Go of Resistance: Jevon Perra emphasized that the main source of suffering is the belief that one can get something wrong or change past moments. They concluded that their mantra is "it's okay," and that the "looser" they hold the world and other people, the higher their resonance becomes because they are not adding resistance, which allows their natural buoyancy to take over.Attraction of Lower Frequencies and Poking Judgments: The speakers discussed how people operating at lower frequency levels tend to be attracted to those with higher resonance, sometimes trying to pull them down, like “crabs in a bucket”. Jevon Perra explained that an outside accusation only triggers a defensive response if it pokes at one's own internal belief systems and judgments. Conclusion on Freedom and Contentment: Jevon Perra finalized the conversation by asserting that defense is an attack because it acknowledges that the threatening thing is real. The ultimate goal is to recognize one cannot be hurt or lose because they "are it all," and the experience of life is about engaging without constraints, seeking freedom. They concluded by discussing the next topic, "Generosity".

This episode originally aired January 14, 2025 Throughout his long and varied career, Rob Lowe has become an expert at reinventing himself. He left behind his bad-boy image from iconic 80s movies to work on a clever mix of dramatic and comedic TV roles. But I’ve known Rob for a while, and he’s a very layered individual. We look back at how Rob has pursued his passions and how he and his wife, Sheryl, have used practical techniques to keep their marriage strong for 34 years and counting. Plus, we discuss the difference between humility and humiliation, and why Rob is always down to be the butt of the joke. In this short podcast episode, Bryan talks about some building science concepts, including vapor diffusion ports, hygric buoyancy, and... fruit packaging? Much of building science wisdom over the past couple of decades has dealt with air sealing (just seal it tighter!). However, building tightness has a darker side: more difficulty drying. When buildings can't dry, moisture accumulates and leads to rot. Air leaks and vapor diffusion are NOT the same thing. Vapor diffusion refers to water vapor diffusing through surfaces into the home (through the materials of walls, floors, etc.). Air moves much more water than vapor diffusion, so air leaks are a bigger problem in terms of moisture. Therefore, air barriers matter more than vapor barriers... until the air barrier battle has been won. Hygric buoyancy refers to moist air's lower density than dry air, so wet air rises toward the attic (and then the attic peaks). While sealed attics are excellent, moisture can accumulate at the roof deck, especially when the roofing cools at night. The condensation is worsened by using open-cell foam, as open-cell foam is air-closed but vapor-open (whereas closed-cell foam is air-closed AND vapor-closed). Drying isn't needed if you can KEEP the moisture out of closed-cell foam. Open-cell foam requires a place for vapor to go. Vapor diffusion ports are airtight, controlled vapor-open outlets at the highest points of sealed attics. A cap protects them from bulk water, and they consist of a membrane that blocks air but allows vapor to exit. Unlike a ridge vent, ventilation is not the goal of a vapor diffusion port; it is drying by diffusion rather than airflow and acts as a controlled pressure-relief valve for moisture. Vapor diffusion ports have been proven to be effective at drying and preventing roof rot in humid climates (but NOT ALL climates). They do not work against bulk water intrusion, in cold climates, or when used as vents. Vapor diffusion ports work like fruit packaging, which is designed to let oxygen in and CO2 out, while controlling moisture and slowing decay. Take your FREE High Performance Marriage Scan--Faith-driven leaders often win at work while quietly running a deficit at home. In this conversation, C12 CEO Mike Sharrow joins Lantz Howard to unpack why so many high-capacity Christian CEOs experience “artificial buoyancy” in marriage—appearing stable because of spiritual convictions and financial margin, while intimacy atrophies. Mike shares C12's peer-advisor model, their marriage check-in, and a vision for business as ministry that re-centers the CEO to stay focused on Jesus. From the “locker room vs. field of play” church metaphor to a military-grade picture of vulnerability in marriage, this episode invites leaders to run into the storm, tell the truth, and build the only enterprise guaranteed to outlast the P&L: the family.--To get started working with Lantz Howard as your coach go to his website www.lantzhoward.com or get started by filling out the FREE High Performance Marriage Scan --If you found this conversation helpful, share it with one friend that you care about and let them know which section of the conversation to listen to and apply.--Lantz Howard is a Marriage Transformation Coach for Entrepreneurs, CEO's, and high-achieving men. www.lantzhoward.com
In the swift currents and rising tides of this world, many people that we know have been swept away from their moorings, through sin, loss, tragedy or trauma; sinking before our very eyes. We have been eye witnesses to others who have sailed out, only to never been seen or heard from again. So with so many sinking, so many being swept away; it behooves us to know how we as believers experience the buoyancy necessary to survive the deep and tumultious places of our journey. Our God not only saves those that come unto him, but KEEPS them as well!

I was recently reading the November/December 2024 issue of “Science and Children” a publication of the National Science Teaching Association. In this issue, I read the “Early Years” column, written by Alissa A. Lange. She wrote an article entitled, “Deconstructing Common Misconceptions in Early Science.” Misconceptions are common in science—even into adulthood. Instead of feeling guilty when we discover our misconceptions, what if we, as adults, turn this feeling into curiosity? What if we help our students to do the same?

Buoyancy is defined as the ability or tendency to float in water, or air, or some other fluid. It's also an optimistic and cheerful disposition.Buoyancy is the ability to float. to move or hover slowly and lightly. I picture my body in water. And the ability to stay on the surface while my body moves as it needs over the water motions. In my creative practice, it's almost like the act of staying resilient but without the need to withstand or quickly recover. TRANSCRIPT OF AUDIO From the Cumberland Gap to the Atlantic Ocean, this is Virginia Water Radio for the week of January 22, 2024. This is a revised version of an episode from January 2016. MUSIC – ~9 sec – instrumental. In this episode, we use music by a Blacksburg, Va., singer-songwriter to help us dive underwater. Have a listen for about 55 seconds. MUSIC - ~54 sec – Lyrics: “Endless water calls to you. Falling backward into blue. Lovers breathing, adapting, reaching, receiving. Bubbles lifting, creatures sweeping into view; you're an alien at sea. Scuba dive; scuba dive.” You've been listening to part of “Scuba Dive,” by Kat Mills, on the 2015 album “Silver.” Ms. Mills' lyrics use the challenges and thrills of underwater diving as metaphors for exploration and trust in human relationships. While human interactions can be quite unpredictable, the main challenges of the underwater environment come from several predictable physical, chemical, and biological properties of deep water. Water's density affects vision and hearing underwater. Buoyancy—resulting from the density of a submerged object compared to the density of the surrounding water—must be adjusted for moving up or down. Movement is also affected by the frictional resistance of water, or drag. Pressure from the weight of the water affects a diver's lungs, sinuses, and ears, as well as the levels of oxygen, nitrogen, and other gases dissolved in the water and in one's blood. Temperature affects dissolved gases, too, along with presenting a body-heat challenge. Divers can become partially dehydrated through breathing dehumidified compressed air. And dangerous aquatic organisms may await. Adapting to those challenges through underwater breathing devices, other equipment, training, and experience allows divers to enjoy the exhilaration of feeling weightless, seeing fascinating creatures, and exploring worlds most humans never see. Add in some trust and overcoming of one's fears, and people continue to fall backwards into endless blue water, literally and figuratively. Thanks to Kat Mills for permission to use this episode's music, and we close with about 30 more seconds of “Scuba Dive.” MUSIC - ~30 sec – Lyrics: “Scuba dive.” SHIP'S BELL Virginia Water Radio is produced by the Virginia Water Resources Research Center, part of Virginia Tech's College of Natural Resources and Environment. There is plenty of negativity across many sectors in the global economy and in the UK, construction is feeling its own pain. However, there is an area of the market that appears to be keeping its own and that is the steel fabrication business. IGTV's Jeremy Naylor caught up with Mark Smith from Billington Holdings, a 75-year old company that's just announced that it sees profit before tax to be ahead of market expectations on what it says is a healthy pipeline of opportunities. Rosemary Barnes: Allen, do you say buoyant or booyant? Buoyancy or booyancy? I think you'll see that it's Australians that have this one, right? Joel Saxum: I got to agree, Rosemary. I'm sorry. I agree with you. I'm agreeing with Rosemary. Allen Hall: Come on. I've lost two in a row. I lost the emu and I lost buoy. I'm pretty much out of words at this point. Rosemary Barnes: You can, you can name whatever, whatever birds are native. To the US you feel free to name them and pronounce them how you would wish, but emus are emus. They're ours. They're ours. We're claiming them. Allen Hall: Well, see, this is, this is why, you know, it's good to have a little bit of international flavor on the podcast because us Americans get a little too out of control and Rosemary's here to rein us back in. So as you will listen to this episode, that's exactly what happens multiple times. It's good to have Rosemary on the podcast. So down in Sweetwater, Texas, where we were. pretty close to it last week. There, it's been a big problem down there about the number of wind turbine blades that are just stacked in piles. And Global Fiberglass Solution was trying to recycle them. And those, some of those blades have been there since about 2017. So they've been there a while. And back in roughly 2016, the IRS encouraged wind farms to replace the blades with the tax credits with new blades, right? So there's a, there were a lot of wind turbine blades that came off the turbines and new ones went on. Well down in Texas, they're looking for get those blades recycled and nothing has happened yet. And it's starting to become a little annoying. And the same sort of situations actually happened in Iowa with the same company in Iowa got really upset and. Forced GE or persuaded GE to take care of the problem in Iowa. So GE is recycling the blades in Iowa now This has led to a lawsuit That was filed this past week between GE and Global Fiberglass solutions and Phil, you want to give us the inside details of what's going on here. Philip Totaro: So, basically the, the back of a contract signed in 2017 and then a separate one signed in 2018. Global Fiberglass Solutions had the obligation to start recycling these blades. I think what they were going to do was to shred them and...
You're listening to The Dwelling Place, a ministry of Calvary Worship Center in Colorado Springs and we'll be joined by pastor Al Pittman in a moment. Today we're in Romans chapter eight, verses twenty eight through thirty-nine and we'll be discussing the methods that God uses to bring about His desired results within us. We may not always understand what He's doing, but as followers of Christ, we choose to trust Him. Pastor Al has given this message an interesting title - The Buoyancy of Faith. In this podcast I reveal the meditative root of the word, “horoscope,” explain how the savoring of outer atmosphere helps us savor our inner one, and wonder if the ancient practice of sky-gazing might offer relief from melancholy and the lonely habit of moving through dead space, replacing it with "a psyche of cosmic dimensions." Next, I ponder the way education trains us to become form-fixated and suggest that the manner in which we breathe is the truest measure of how we feel about space. Finally, I dive into the different philosophies of space, the dharma of the "sky signs" and propose that, in the final analysis, we have only one freedom: to relate "across" space or "as" space. https://linktr.ee/hunterji --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/astrodharma/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/astrodharma/support

Body Type - "Buoyancy" from the 2022 album Everything is Dangerous But Nothing's Surprising on Poison City Records. You never know when creative inspiration will strike, and for Australian quartet Body Type, it was over text. “'Buoyancy' started as a playful text message exchange between Annabel and me," bassist/vocalist Georgia Wilkinson Derums said of her bandmate, guitarist/vocalist Annabel Blackman. "In many ways, the song is about grappling with internal inconsistencies and moral ambiguities in an incoherent style. It's had a few iterations – when I brought it to the group it had more of a slow Big Star spirit. Soph and Annabel made it more angular, more tongue in cheek with the guitar, which further injects the song with distorted meaning. It's also a personal reminder that when certain things are rendered uncertain those you love are an eternal rudder.” Read the full post on KEXP.org Support the show: https://www.kexp.org/donate See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
