In the first of a new mini-series reviewing the best of the National Racing series this year, Kevin Turner sits down with Marcus Simmons and ITV BTCC Commentator David Addison to review the best of the 2024 British Touring Car Championship. On it, the trio discuss the thrilling deciding weekend at Brands Hatch that led to Jake Hill winning his first Championship, as well as the current state of play amongst the elite class of the Championship, such as Tom Ingram's agonising defeat, Ash Sutton's failure in the "drive for five", and ask whether Colin Turkington can still compete at the very highest level. There's also a deep dive on two of the outside contenders in Dan Cammish and Josh Cook, as well as some of the other under-the-radar names who impressed across the season like Daryl DeLeon and part-timer Bobby Thompson. Despite being a hugely versatile racing driver, who competed in Formula 3000, IndyCar, Sports Cars and Touring Cars, Christian Danner was unable to showcase his full potential in Formula 1 in the mid-late 1980s. During an era characterised by poor reliability and pre-qualifying, he either failed to start many of the races he entered, or he failed to finish them. But that certainly doesn't mean he's short of some fascinating tales from his time in the sport. Speaking to Tom Clarkson, Christian remembers becoming the first F1 driver to be disqualified for dangerous driving and how Ayrton Senna leapt to his defence. He also talks about the opposition he faced from the media back home in Germany, why Zakspeed teammate Martin Brundle kept him on his toes , how he climbed from P26 on the grid to a career-best finish of P4 at the US Grand Prix in 1989, and much more. In the second episode in a four-part series, Dre Harrison introduces another interview from Super Touring Power 2, the event that celebrated what many fans consider to be the golden era of Touring Car racing. In Episode 2, Kevin Turner sits down with two legends of the sport and beyond; 1993 British Touring Car Championship Runner-Up Steve Soper, and two-time British Touring Car Champion in 1989 and 1995, John Cleland. In the episode, Kevin presses Steve and John on the strengths and weaknesses of their cars in a highly competitive environment (Including the startling revelation that Cleland hated front-wheel drive!), dealing with the rise of popularity the series had in the '90s, and asking if there was one Super Touring Car they always wanted to drive, but never did… Learn more about your ad choices. To many, it was the greatest era of Touring Car racing ever seen, and a regulation set that became the blueprint for saloon racing all over the world. But just what is the greatest Super Touring car of them all? Joining Kevin Turner on the Autosport Podcast is the current British Touring Car Championship commentary pair of David Addison and Tim Harvey and together they rank the 10 greatest Super Touring Cars of all time. Where does the Ford Mondeo end up despite its late arrival? And where does the legendary Alfa Romeo 155 end up due to Gabriele Tarquini's legendary 1994? It's the Super Touring Power 2 event this weekend at Brands Hatch, celebrating the famous golden era of the British Touring Car Championship. With that mind, we decided to share a throwback interview from the 2023 event, with our own Tom Howard and Marcus Simmons sitting down with two legends of the sport - Andy Rouse, four-time series Champion with 60 wins to his name, and his former teammate Paul Radisich, twice a Top 3 finisher in the series and twice a Bathurst 1000 runner-up. The pair talk about re-driving some of the cars that made that era such as the Ford Mondeo, as well as why that era of the BTCC is looked at so fondly by fans. There's more on Paul's closest challenges for the title in 1993 and 1994, their relationship as teammates, Paul's World Cup success representing New Zealand and beating Alfa Romeo in their own backyard at Monza, and the comparions between the 90's and today's class of Touring Car drivers like Colin Turkington and Jake Hill. On The Grid today we look back at a weekend full of tension at Barcelona but not a lot of racing along with the F2, F3 and F1 Academy news. Plus, an awful lot of racing as the Indycars pounded round the dramatic Laguna Seca Raceway Rain delays for both IMSA sportscars and the NASCAR boys who, wait for it, for the first time, raced on an oval with wet tyres! And we come home for a lovely weekend in the sunshine as the Touring Cars entertain at Oulton where the bodywork controversy rolls on … But first the news. The F1 seat saga rolls on as Alpine now emerge as a third choice for Sainz. While Sauber academy man Theo Pourchaire goes through more heartbreak and the Japanese Superformula becomes an all-Japanese affair.
The story of an ace engineer and team owner who has worked with the biggest and best F1 drivers. We chat the move into Touring Cars with his West Surrey Racing team at the height of an arms race in the 2-litre Super Touring era. Remember that? The late Murray Walker lent his iconic commentary to the coverage for some years and so many big name manufacturers were involved spending telephone number sized budgets to try and win! Then there's the BMW's they now run in the BTCC and the work required around its hybrid program. Dick is adamant about working with drivers to properly understand their feedback and how that ‘feel' is still incredibly important in finding ways to fine tune the race car, not just relying on the data. And of course you'll be wowed by more stories of the legends he's worked with along the way as well as an eye on the future, what's next for Dick Bennetts? An Aussie currently working in New Zealand but yearning for an Australia Day catch-up with mates, engages in a lively conversation with a Kiwi now making his home in Oz. It's not just a simple "Kia Ora, bro," it's a hearty "G'day, Mate!" Ryan Wood has a very special opportunity to race at the pinnacle of Touring Cars (in this part of the world) in 2024 and he's grabbed it with both hands. Rusty, intrigued by this prospect, dives into a conversation to unveil more about Ryan's journey. Hailing from a humble family on the other side of the ditch, Ryan stitched together a deal to race Toyota 86s, following in the footsteps of legends while pursuing the Australian dream. The discussion touches on who supports him, the significant step he'll be taking next month with Walkinshaw Andretti United, the expectations, the pressure, his teammate Chaz Mostert, and how he stays true to his personality. The podcast also delves into the unique experience of sharing living space with fellow racers at a residence owned by a driver he'll be competing against on the grid this year. The passionate Italian continues to share some great yarns with Rusty including his earliest recollections of the late Murray Walker who he first crossed paths with in F1. From Murray's unmistakable calls in the BTCC to getting the chance to race the awesome DTM spec Alfa that left a lasting impression on Gabriele. And what he's up to now, working with Hyundai in the TCR World Tour having shaped its current and previous generation Touring Cars from concept stage on computer. Plus the secret to winning races in his 40's & 50's. We hope you enjoy this chat with one of the all time greats! Rusty was a massive fan of the British Touring Car Championship in the 90's (he's still got the VHS tapes) so when he arrived at Bathurst recently and saw Gabriele there, he had to chat with him. A star in karts, he had no real intention of going car racing! Some practice laps in an open wheeler changed that and Gabriele went all the way to Formula 1. Sadly the F1 cars he raced weren't great for showcasing his talent but in a Touring Car he was something else. His little known meeting with the legendary Enzo Ferrari, memories of that iconic Alfa Romeo 155 in the BTCC & much more. Welcome to Episode 32 of the Lovecars On The Grid Podcast! Our hosts Tiff Needell and Paul Woodman bring us another roundup of motorsport events from the past week. Paul joins us from a secret location where we are looking to do some filming! This week, we've had lots of exciting racing in the UK, NASCAR and more! The Formula 1 drivers are on their Summer break. If the FIA admitted human error in the 2021 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, why have Mercedes let it go? Toto Wolff has been accused of being 'too powerful' in the World of Motorsport by Mario Andretti. Lewis Hamilton was seen in the W Series paddocks, stating that the drivers need more support to get into the sport. With Paul being away, he wasn't present at the Caterham Race at Anglesey, where friend of the channel, Charlie Lower took another win! The British Superbikes were at Thruxton, with some of the best racing Tiff has ever seen! Jason O'Halloran took the win in the first two races, but Tarran Mackenzie took the lead in the third race with just a few corners to go! Very exciting racing. The other British racing this weekend was the Touring Cars at Snetterton. There wasn't much overtaking at this circuit, with a great weekend for BMW as the heat affected the FWD cars. Colin Turkington won the first two races, with Ford's Ashley Sutton taking the third win. The BTCC was supported by some amazing racing in the Ginetta series. Internationally, the NASCAR boys were racing at the Richmond Raceway in Virginia, with a second win on the trot for Kevin Harwick. Just two races to go before the playoffs! Watkins Glen is coming up, with Formula 1 driver, Kimi Raikonnen making a debut! The first race of the World Rallycross Championship also took place this weekend, the electric rallycross series. The series was in Norway, with just 8 cars on the grid. We had the last round of the Formula E Championship at Seoul in South Korea, with a win for Edoardo Mortara, with Stoffel Vandoorne securing second place and winning the Championship. Next weekend, we have Indycar at Gateway Oval as we have some the last three exciting rounds coming up. WRC is in Belgium, plus Moto GP at the Red Bull Ring. Plus, we have Kimi Raikonnen at Watkins Glen in NASCAR!

After graduating from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo with a Mechanical Engineering degree, our guest joined Mazda R&D in Irvine, California. And while at Mazda he worked on the original Miata, second-generation MX-6, first-gen MPV, and third-gen RX-7. While he loved the people and the work at Mazda, he wanted to try something new… working at a larger car company. That opportunity came in 1993 when he joined Ford as a layout engineer in the electric vehicle department. And in 1997, he was able to transfer to the Ford Motorsport effort in the SCCA Trans-Am Championship. While the Ford experience was professionally rewarding, he wished to return home to Southern California. A little later, acting as the EV Q&A technical expert on a Nissan media event in 2000 - a life changing event that would lead his career from engineering to communications - He became the Nissan Product PR Manager from 2001 through 2006 where he worked on every Nissan brand product launch, including the return of the Z, the launch of NISMO, and the first Nissan 360 global event. Fast forwarding to today… our Break/Fix guest is one of those legendary behind the scenes people in Motorsports, Dean Case - Public Relations manager for SRO Motorsports America, where he works to promote the premier GT and Touring Car series in the U.S. And he's here to share some of his most fascinating paddock stories with us... Welcome to episode 19 of the Lovecars on the Grid podcast! Tiff Needell and Paul Woodman return with another roundup of motorsport events from the past week. Unfortunately, our audio isn't quite as good as last week, as Tiff joins us on his mobile phone. Apologies for any inconvenience to our listeners! This week we have F1, W Series, British GT, Touring Cars and NASCAR! Kicking off in Miami with Formula 1! The event was very well hyped, with even a fake marina and boats on show! Red Bull driver, Max Verstappen performed a trademark, bold move on the first corner, and took the race win. Mercedes had a disappointing race, finishing in 5th and 6th with lots of porpoising going on. The W Series was supporting the F1 in Miami. It was a perfect win for Jamie Chadwick, with 2 wins this weekend. Last year's Winner, Alice Powell ended up stalling on the grid and finishing in 6th place. The World Endurance Championship was at Spa Francorchamps in Belgium. It was typically Spa weather, with lots of rain. The #7 Toyota was victorious, driven by Mike Conway, Kamui Kobayashi and Jose Maria Lopez, beating Alpine in 2nd place. The World Touring Cars started their season with a reverse grid at the Circuit de Pau Ville. The win went to Argentine driver, Nestor Girolami. British GT was taking place at Silverstone, with a win for Barwell Motorsport in their Lamborghini Huracan GT3 EVO. NASCAR was at the famous old oval, Darlington. We had a very controversial ending, with some questionable driving for Winner Joey Logano, who drove into William Byron and put the leader into the wall. This weekend, we have Indycar at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. IMSA are at the mid-Ohio course. Moto GP is back at the Le Mans Bugatti circuit in France. Formula E has a double header in Berlin and then in Britain we have the British Touring Car Championship at Brands Hatch!

Autosport is delighted to reveal our plans for expanded coverage from the Autosport Podcast, and a new voice joining the team of presenters. Formula 1 race weekends will now be hosted by motorsport broadcaster Ariana Bravo. Ariana has been a long-time F1 fan and is an experienced motorsport podcaster. Alex Kalinauckas (Grand Prix Editor, Autosport) takes a break from hosting duties but will still be part of the Autosport Podcast team contributing his expert analysis from the paddock, as soon as international travel resumes. Each weekend we're also increasing the roster of journalists offering you their unique insight of Formula 1, not only from Autosport but also our sister title Motorsport.com. 2021 also sees the addition of a weekly topical podcast looking at the major motorsport stories from the various series we cover in Autosport Magazine and on autosport.com. Whilst the majority of our listeners tune in for our Grand Prix analysis, many also tell us they want to hear about everything from Touring Cars to NASCAR, MotoGP to Sports Cars.
“Do you need to be a specialist in something to sell it? No. You need to know how to sell, learn what that product can do for a customer, and then apply the playbook, and you can be successful.” - Mauro Trione Hunters and Unicorns shares the playbooks from leaders, founders, executives and investors from high growth technology companies. In this special edition series The 33 CXOs we investigate the greatest success story in the history of software sales. Discover how thirty-three sales execs from one organisation, BladeLogic, became CXOs in the world's 100 fastest growing technology companies. We uncover the stories and playbooks of the most prolific sales leaders in the industry. Episode 6 features Mauro Trione, RVP Sales - Southern EMEA at Delphix. With a background of huge success in the enterprise IT field, Mauro has built a strong reputation for himself as an outstanding professional leader. He started his career in sales and channel roles for PTC, EMC, BladeLogic and BMC and unsurprisingly went on to meet extreme success, becoming VP Sales at Bazaarvoice and going on to join Delphix as a Regional Sales Director in 2014, rising through the ranks once again to become VP Sales, developing and driving growth for business. Described as the fastest man in technology due to his background as a racing car driver, Mauro is a competitor with natural ambition. Having won the Italian Championship in Touring Cars before even embarking on a career with PTC, Mauro knew nothing about selling software before he entered into this tough sales environment, but he had all of the attributes, skills, and raw materials needed to make it in this industry. “I'm a sales guy. You can call us VPs, managers, etc, but we are sales people, we want to be able to completely control what we do. As a race car driver, I like to control things because if you don't control your car and your car drives you, you're fucked!” Described by McMahon as “one of the most incredible sales people in the world,” Mauro is a truly talented communicator and an out of the box thinker. His innate determination and drive enabled him to transition through the ranks at BMC, but he gives credit to the PTC management, especially John McMahon, for putting together a structure that enabled him to learn how to become successful in this industry by following a specific process. “It doesn't matter how you refer to it, if you come from PTC or EMC, you'll have great examples of successful people, and if you ask them, “Did you apply MEDDIC?” They would say, “What is MEDDIC?” But if you go back and try to understand what they have done and do reverse engineering on how they manage activity; they will tell you that they did the same thing that we did.” In this vodcast you will discover: The parallels between race car driving and software sales The importance of playbooks and training for a rapid transition into technology and success in this industry How to use MEDDIC strategies and champions to close deals How to transition into managerial roles Mauro Trione knows how to lead with passion and drive maximum revenue for his teams. We discuss his spectacular achievements in this formally unfamiliar territory, the role of training and playbooks and what has caused his work ethic to evolve over time. Giving you an insight into the mindset of an extraordinary athlete, this interview is essential listening for those with an interest in sales strategy, as well as anyone with a passion for the technology space.
