Welcome to The Daily, where we study the Bible verse by verse, chapter by chapter, every single day. And a big shout-out today to William Beaumont from Hampton, FL. William, thank you for being a part of this movement through Project23. You are making a difference. This one's for you. Today, we're looking at Mark 3:7-12: Jesus withdrew with his disciples to the sea, and a great crowd followed, from Galilee and Judea and Jerusalem and Idumea and from beyond the Jordan and from around Tyre and Sidon. When the great crowd heard all that he was doing, they came to him. And he told his disciples to have a boat ready for him because of the crowd, lest they crush him, for he had healed many, so that all who had diseases pressed around him to touch him. And whenever the unclean spirits saw him, they fell down before him and cried out, “You are the Son of God.” And he strictly ordered them not to make him known. — Mark 3:7-12 Jesus withdraws from the synagogue in our last text, but he doesn't withdraw from the growing mission. Word has spread. People are coming from every direction. Not just from one region (Galilee) but from Judea, Jerusalem, Idumea, Tyre, and Sidon. These were regions far and wide, Jewish and Gentile alike. And the scene gets chaotic. Mark describes it as "crushing." It was "mob-like." The crowd is so massive and enthusiastic that Jesus tells his disciples to keep water transport ready—just in case things they need to make a quick escape. Thus, Mark reveals that following Jesus wasn't always safe at times. It wasn't always peaceful. But it was always revealing. Why were they coming? Well, one part of the crowd came because they had heard what Jesus was doing. The healings. The power. The miracles. And they came—not necessarily because they understood who Jesus was—but because they wanted something from Jesus. They wanted relief, not necessarily repentance. They wanted his power but not necessarily his presence. But notice how those possessed by unclean spirits respond. The demons in them recognized Jesus. They fell before him and declared, “You are the Son of God.” They, unlike others, understood his identity, power, and authority, and they submitted to him. One group of people seeks what Jesus can do. The other group of people surrenders to who Jesus is. So today, ask yourself: Do you only come to Jesus when you seek something or to fully surrender to the King? ASK THIS: Why do I approach Jesus—seeking relief or fully surrendering to his lordship? Have I valued what Jesus does more than who he is? In which areas of my life am I holding back submission to Jesus? How can I shift from using Jesus to genuinely following him? DO THIS: Do this: Before you reach for Jesus' help again, pause and offer him not just your needs but your full submission. PRAY THIS: Lord Jesus, I come to you both for healing and for heart‑change. Teach me to lay down my agenda and fully submit to your authority. Amen. PLAY THIS: Need A Favor.

Jesus teaches in the synagogue and rebukes an unclean spirit. We learn the importance and impact of teaching doctrine with authority and how to gain victory over sin in our lives.

In our text today we look another form of hostility encountered by those who follow Christ – the demonic. This is not a comfortable topic for us, especially in a post-enlightenment culture where empiricism is the only excepted mode of truth. We have trouble with these "unseen" realities. The demonic is also scary and so we are tempted to skip over it.

As Jesus begins his ministry, unclean spirits announce that he is God's son. In fact, 55 times in the gospels Jesus casts out demons. Why so many and what is that all about? Let's find out together as we read Mark 3:7-19 and 1 Samuel 16.

Jesus does battle against the forces of evil that run our lives and our world. But he does not come to conquer evil with evil, he overcomes evil with Good. He lovingly separates us from lies and restores the image of God in us so that we can live again according to his authoritative love. As hard as it may be, friends, to look at the ways you've been demonized and conformed by the forces of evil, there is no condemnation for you in Christ Jesus. Receive him and be cleansed today.

  We live in a world where moral standards have completely deteriorated. Most people, even professing Christians, believe it is fine to be sexually active before marriage or to live with someone. This behavior may be widespread and common in the Church, but God still calls it sin. What happens when a person plays with sin repeatedly? They open themselves up to being demonized. Yes, even unrepentant Christians can be influenced and driven by demons to continue in sexual sin. Throughout the Bible, particularly the gospels, demon spirits are referred to as unclean spirits. 662 Jesus Gave Them Authority Over The Unclean Spirits, A Guided Christian Meditation on Mark 6:7-10 with the Recenter With Christ app The purpose of this podcast is to help you find more peace in your life and connect with the true source of peace, Jesus Christ.  Outline: Relaxation, Reading, Meditation, Prayer, Contemplation and Visualization. Let your stomach be a balloon inflate,  deflate. Scripture for Meditation Mark 6 NIV 7 Calling the Twelve to him,he began to send them out two by two and gave them authority over impure spirits. 8 These were his instructions: “Take nothing for the journey except a staff—no bread, no bag, no money in your belts. 9 Wear sandals but not an extra shirt. 10 Whenever you enter a house, stay there until you leave that town. NASB 7 And He *summoned the twelve and began to send them out in pairs, and gave them authority over the unclean spirits; 8 and He instructed them that they were to take nothing for their journey, except a mere staff—no bread, no bag, no money in their belt— 9 but to wear sandals; and He added, “Do not wear two tunics.” 10 And He said to them, “Wherever you enter a house, stay there until you leave town.  Meditation on Scripture: Jesus called the twelve and then within a relatively short amount of time he sent them off on missions to heal and preach. If Jesus wanted the smartest and most intelligent missionaries he could have trained them for many years. If he wanted to be seen as the one who did all the work he certainly could have yet he sent the 12.  God could do all the things we are asked to do yet God called disciples. Yet the plan was not that things would be done by their power. There are things that God has called you to. God empowers His work. The things that are important in your life, you are not left to your own power to do. What things is God calling you to? Not what do you want to do but what does God call you to.  Meditation of Prayer: Pray as directed by the Spirit. Dedicate these moments to the patient waiting, when you feel ready ask God for understanding you desire from Him. Meditation of God and His Glory / Hesychasm: I invite you to sit in silence feeling patient for your own faults and trials.
