Chapter 26 begins with Ray walking into the Fine Time for a much needed night of chatter and other recreation. Many Cones is a podcast novel based on true crime. The murders inspiring this crime fiction took place 30 miles from Chicago in Northwest Indiana, and captivated the area from the initial brutal crime scene all the way through and beyond discovery of a shockingly bizarre motive. It was Friday night, and the “Fine Time” was packed. When Ray walked in, there were no bar stools available. He spent five minutes circulating through the filled tables, greeting friends and acquaintances. Regis Cahan was in the middle of the room, seated across from an auburn haired, stunning, thirty something. They had eaten dinner in the bar area and Carol Lombard was clearing the empty plates. The auburn haired lady was clothed in a rather formal, black, tight dress, with a deep v-neck that accentuated her obvious bounty. She was somewhat overdressed for the surroundings. Cahan introduced Ray to his tempting partner. There was no hint of the conversation that never took place. Both men had learned long ago to mask worry, if you’ve done everything possible to control the problem. As Ray bent his crooked frame and reached towards the beauty, Carol said, “Baby, I’ll be done in an hour or so.” He droned, “Yes dear,” as he shook the soft, tanned hand. Regis and friend laughed at the not so subtle interruption. Grandisha noticed a space at the bar opening up. He excused himself and joined Ramon. His scotch was waiting before he climbed the stool. Ramon sensed Grandisha needed chatter. He stayed close and engaged Ray on a number of topics. The recent murders even made their way into the discussions. Ramon frequently sidled back and forth, preparing drinks for everyone. He was professional enough to continue his conversations uninterrupted. Additional spaces opened as the amateurs went home, having drank too much too soon. Within an hour of Ray’s arrival, the seats on his right and left were vacant. The slower pace of the professionals allowed Ramon more time to tend to the care of his charge. The empty stools gave them sufficient privacy to speak of more serious matters. The therapy helped. Carol Lombard sat on an empty stool next to Ray. His mood was such that the movie star shtick was repeated. She appreciated it. Ramon served her and gave Ray his third Glenlivet. Cahan and his conquest, finished with cocktails and on their way out, walked behind Carol and Ray. The beauty said, “Bye Ray.” Cahan just smiled. Ray gulped. Carol elbowed Ray. Ramon laughed out loud. When the third scotch was finished, they left. Both felt frisky. After a decent round of relations, Ray lay on his back, angled against the headboard, naked. Carol, also naked, lay on her side, against and partially on him. Her head and one breast nestled on his chest. A smallish, square, glass ashtray was positioned at the base of Ray’s sternum, on his stomach. He was inhaling a Pall Mall deep into his lungs, following the exhaled smoke as it rose, filling the room with a haze. Without lifting her head, Carol said, “A penny for your thoughts?” Ray’s laugh caused a rumble in his stomach and almost tipped the ashtray. “What did you say?” “A penny for your thoughts.” Grandisha responded, “My God. You did say that. I thought I was hearing things.” “Yeah, baby. I did say that... So... Tell me.”
Kelly becomes a cover girl but hesitates to continue modeling. When Ray comes home, his mother tells David and Clare about his affair with Valerie. Dylan continues dream therapy. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/90210/support
Chapter 12 starts with Ray Grandisha and Ramon discussing the relative value of the prevent defense. Many Cones is a podcast novel based on true crime. The murders inspiring this crime fiction took place 30 miles from Chicago in Northwest Indiana, and captivated the area from the initial brutal crime scene all the way through and beyond discovery of a shockingly bizarre motive. As Albert Moffit was receiving his latest revelation, Grandisha and Ramon were chatting at the bar. Ray had been in the “Fine Time” for close to three hours. He was working on his fifth drink. After the third serving, Ramon started cutting back the Glenlivet ratio. It was going to be a long night. They were discussing everything imaginable, except crimes and criminals. Ramon mostly listened. Grandisha had started the day early. He had planned to review each piece of evidence and information. For the umpteenth time. Half way through, he realized everything was already committed to memory. He was wasting his time on a rote exercise. Something was there, some clue or hint, it just had to be discovered and cultivated. Ray closed the Donas file and spent the balance of his working day trying to answer the question he knew was important. Why would strangers intentionally butcher two people, and then search their home? The only answer he could come up with was that someone sent them. But that led to another question. Wouldn’t that someone tell the strangers two people lived in the residence? The conundrums had sapped Ray’s reasoning and investigative powers. He hoped the scotch and idle banter would cleanse the slate and give him a new perspective. At least there were no new massacres. Yet. He doubted this was a one time slaughter. Margie had arrived at work sans police uniform. Instead, old jeans, off white, medium weight sweater, and worn, navy blue, wool sports coat. When Ray shot her a questioning look, she said she would tell him later. He wasn’t worried; her spirits seemed high.Grandisha sent Margie and Joe Crownder back to the apartment complex. One more time. Talk to people again. Go door to door. Find residents that hadn’t been interviewed before. Maybe concentrate on other buildings in the complex. The two detectives spent the entire day chasing shadows. As they were preparing to leave, empty handed, they came upon two middle aged tramps, dressed and reeking accordingly, trying to peer in the Donas picture window. Margie wanted to send them on their way. Joe, treating them like Leopold and Loeb, insisted on bringing them in for questioning. He arrogantly reminded Margie about criminals returning to the scene of the crime. She relented, to prevent a scene at the scene of the crime. Late in the afternoon, Grenk and Crownder arrived back at the office, Bonnie and Clyde in tow, just as Ray was preparing to leave. He stayed for an extra hour. Margie’s spirits had fallen, noticeably. She explained her position to Ray, Joe his. Although he silently agreed with Margie’s objection to hassling the two, he told them to question the bums, run prints, and if nothing developed, no warrants or prior related convictions showed up, to release them. Crownder sneered smugly.

History’s patterns repeat, but many things (like truly severe pandemics) may only happen once in a lifetime. So if you only think about what you’ve personally experienced, you will be unprepared for the future. As a dedicated student of history, Ray Dalio is on a mission to help us weather a coming economic storm that may be even worse than what happened in the late 1920’s and early 1930’s. In this episode of Conversations with Tom, Ray Dalio and Tom Bilyeu discuss the current severe recession and the debt crisis that preceded it. And while Ray does advocate planning for the worst-case scenario, he also offers a powerful reminder that you don’t have to do this alone. It’s important to support your partner through everything, especially when life brings unexpected (or expected) change. Are you walking separate paths towards the same goal? Or is a new business endeavor stealing more of your time then you’d hoped? Whatever the circumstances, are you there for each other? Change can be both wonderful and terrifying. In this episode of Both on Board, we talk about navigating change together. Highlights From Our Conversation [0:45] How to support your partner [4:30] Give yourself flexibility [8:45] Change can lead to opportunity [13:50] Desire drives impact [20:45] What am I willing to give up? [25:30] Leverage your unique abilities [28:30] Invest in relationships [34:45] What doors are being opened? [36:25] What are your strengths? [40:55] Face your fears [43:30] align with the “5 F’s” Navigating change requires flexibility and grace When Ray and I stopped wholesaling and flipping houses and dove into the loan business, it was a whirlwind of change. We were navigating something completely foreign and it took some time to adjust. Now, Ray is working on a deal that would involve acquiring a large multi-family property in Buckhead. It’s taken significantly more time than we ever thought it would. It’s new, exciting, and terrifying. We’ve had to practice giving ourselves grace. Ray is traveling and speaking to investors to raise capital. But we’ve taken the time to be proactive and prepare for this new season. After all, being an entrepreneur requires embracing changes and ups and downs. We know that this is happening—we chose it and we are going to navigate it. Support your partner to reach your shared vision In this podcast, we’re always talking about our belief that life comes in seasons and that one prepares you for the next. We had a slow summer of self-care and focusing on our family. As we are ramping up into fall we are reminded that the season prepared us for the chaos that is coming. We know that with a willingness to leap into the unknown there will be growth. But there is one thing that we always consider when facing change: Is it in alignment with our vision for our future? You must compare proposed change against the framework you’ve created for yourself. If our desire for expansion aligns with our combined vision, we take the challenge head-on. You may have to give up some things that are no longer essential. Are the opportunities presented to you worth what you’ll need to give up? Only you get to decide. Is the change we are embracing scary? Of course. But we have each other to lean on for support. What are your unique abilities and strengths? Ray is 100% in his element when he’s networking and speaking. He understands risk and investments and knows exactly how to explain that to investors. I know what his unique abilities are and know that he’s doing what he’s meant to be doing in this season. I’ve been privileged to see him living a passion of his firsthand as he’s supporting me in mine. Flow and alignment using your own unique abilities and talents creates magic. You need to figure out what you’re great at and pivot as you go through life. My comfort zone has always been more of a supporting role but I’m growing and branching out. I started with a speaking opportunity and will continue to develop and grow my unique abilities. Where do you place value? Every event we attend allows us to forge relationships that could last a lifetime. Some relationships are seasonal. But we desire to build friendships with people that we can pour into as they invest in us. Always remember—what doors are opening as you branch out and step into the unknown? Are you vibrating at a frequency that attracts people on the same level as you are higher? Are you investing in your personal growth? Are you remembering to place your health and family first? We share personal stories and so much more about support in this episode. Be sure to listen to the whole thing! Working together—whether you’re in the same business or working on separate projects—can be challenging. It requires accountability, support, and compassion. You have to learn to see things from your partner's perspective. You have to walk in their shoes. This episode of Both on Board is all about committing to a shared vision in practical and tactical ways and supporting each other on your journey. Highlights From Our Conversation [0:50] From disconnect to connection [5:30] Learn to see from your partner’s perspective [8:20] Set up a reporting mechanism that works [11:00] We care and want to make an impact [14:40] 75Hard challenge is all about commitment [17:30] Eliminate the option of doing anything else [23:00] Building promises builds trust in yourself [27:25] Be disciplined with your desires [29:00] How commitment overflows in your life Moving from disconnect to connection When Ray and I first started dating, we were working in separate careers. I would come home and share the struggles of my day, but Ray couldn’t fully understand where I was coming from. Then he’d tell me about a deal that fell through or something that he ran into during his day. Neither of us fully comprehending what the struggle really meant. There was this disconnect between us. On the flip side, when I retired from teaching and we launched our business together we were in the trenches together. We were completely on board, but our work consumed us. All we talked about was work. If you’d like to learn how we began to better integrate work and personal life, keep listening! Being ‘both on board’ when working on separate projects Through the years we’ve been together, there have been seasons where we need to focus on different projects and come together when needed—this is one of them. Right now, Ray is headfirst in our loan business, and it consumes a lot of his time. My primary focus is Both on Board and building our impact. So how do we come together and support and keep each other accountable? We have a weekly meeting where we cover finances, details of the business, and more. Ray can fill me in so that I understand the details of what’s been consuming his time. I can share the progress I’ve made. We set aside a time to step into each other’s shoes and fully appreciate what the other is doing. To get more details on how this process works for us and keeping each other accountable, keep listening! How 75Hard teaches you commitment I know we’ve mentioned it already—but 75Hard has been a huge part of our lives lately, and it’s teaching us a lot. It’s a program with strict requirements. It’s not a weight loss program necessarily, but a program that strengthens your mental resolve. It’s not easy. Once you commit, you eliminate the option of doing anything else. “I am going to do this and nothing is going to stop me”. The process sharpens you mentally and as you keep your commitments daily, you begin to build your belief in yourself. It’s so much easier because we are both on board supporting each other every step of the way. Be disciplined with your desires Learning how to commit to the promises you make to yourself is paramount. It’s why we are constantly practicing—whether it be daily commitments such as yoga and meditation or starting 75Hard. When you build consistency and become disciplined you can accomplish so much more. Do your part in striving to reach what you desire, and allow the universe to do the rest. Go after what you want, and allow room for something better to come along. Leave space for grace, for God to do his part. Always be building on the vision you have for your life together. In a world where everything pushes us to constantly go, manifestation tells us to slow down. It is about learning how to be in tune with yourself. As human beings, we are so conditioned to be influenced by the external world—and have lost touch with our internal selves. If you’re searching and ready to learn, this episode of Both on Board with Dr. Sangeeta Sahi wraps up the topic of manifestation. Don’t forget to listen to part one! Dr. Sahi is an integrative medical doctor who studied in India and London. She’s traveled the world working with quantum physicists and biophysicists, searching for scientific means to explain what can only be labeled as miraculous. Listen to this episode as we explore her background and experience and she speaks about her knowledge of manifestation. Highlights From Our Conversation [0:50] A recap of the last episode [2:00] Being in tune with yourself and be with yourself [5:25] What is love? What is connection? [9:10] There is nothing you have to achieve [17:10] Do not compare yourself with anyone else [19:30] Change your perspective and learn how to slow down [25:25] Visualizations, affirmations, and manifestation [33:45] Spirituality is not a to-do list but a lifestyle [39:00] Manifestation doesn’t just happen—it takes practice [45:45] Final words of wisdom from Dr. Sangeeta Sahi What is love? What is connection? When asked the question, most people have to pause and think about an answer. Is it a feeling? An emotion? The answer is far simpler: love just IS. Love is connection. When Ray and I are with our daughter we don’t have to think about loving her. We don’t have to define how we feel about her. Love for her envelopes us and just is. We have an innate need to love and be loved. We do this by seeking connection. Children allow us to love and to be present, wrapped up in the moment. Why do we seek out friends? Why do we spend time with loved ones, sharing experiences with them? Because shared experiences give us the connection our soul’s crave. Manifestation begins with slowing down The world around us creates a sense of urgency and tells us that we always need to be going, doing, and running ourselves ragged. We find ourselves addicted to urgency because we feel alive when we are constantly moving. But this isn’t fulfilling. It can’t lead to awareness of one’s self or higher purpose. We must learn how to slow down. Only then can we begin to embrace manifestation. The only “rule” of manifestation is that you must learn to control your thoughts. You must change your perspective. To do so, you must learn to stop. Stop making spirituality a to-do list and make it a way of life. We talk with Sangeeta about teaching this concept to our children—keep listening. You must live every day in gratitude Sangeeta talks about visualization as a powerful way to lower stress. But manifestation cannot come from an external visualization—it comes from within. People often practice visualization and affirmations in a rote and rigid way and this is honestly useless. You have to have a deep emotion connected to the practices for them to be effective. More specifically, we must learn how to be grateful—and express it. It’s so simple, yet in our fast-paced lives we often forget to be grateful. We also need to learn how to be joyful. It isn’t an emotion, but a state of being. If you are not expressing joy you aren’t fully expressing who you are. When you embrace it, the world will take notice. Keep listening as we discuss money manifestation and how material wealth cannot buy you happiness (we promise, it’s not as cliche as it sounds). Manifestation is not instantaneous—it is a practice Manifestation doesn’t just happen overnight. If it was an easy process, everyone would do it! Manifestation is a practice. You need to continually practice it, push forward, and learn how to let go and slow down. It is about finding integration and balance and learning how to find joy. Mastering a spiritual practice takes time, dedication, and persistence. You can’t force things to be the way you want them to be. Control is a myth—it leaves no room for joy. All we can do is learn how to manage the things that are out of our control. Sometimes, all you need to learn how to do is slow down. Then, you’ll see that what you’ve been trying to manifest has existed all along. Some parting words of wisdom from Dr. Sangeeta Sahi: Remember that things come together in God’s timing. Have faith that if a desire is inside of you it is part of your journey. If a desire is influenced by what someone else has—it is not yours. Above all, live in a state of gratitude that you have the opportunity to be alive. This episode of TBP is best listened to in a dorm room at 3AM with your buddies and some edible snacks . The 3 Amigos of Crypto (minus Dee) are joined by Ray Redacted. When Ray stops by the show he always brings in tow a mountain of information about any new security breaches, any new security tips, any new cryptocurrency best practices. Today, he discusses the origins of why bitcoin was invented and what it is good for to this day. This gets spun into a deeper discussion about the 'whys' around why other of these blockchain technologies are being built. Corey went to a log cabin and listened to a podcast, because that's what's hot in the streets. And, Cello's office is the Nebuchadnezzar.
When Ray’s away, the Cam doth play. The post The Papa Bear Beat appeared first on Life Of The Caesars.
In this two-part season finale, Ray DePaola and I discuss ancestral lineage as a path to healing, his through a treasured family story, mine through a strong resistance to tracing my family tree. After these final two episodes, I'm taking Frau Amy's World on hiatus until September, giving myself permission to dig deeper into my second book, Where the Other Me Lives. But what perfect conversations to go out on. Ray always gives me something to ponder. He's a Life Guide, a Peaceful Dude, and Nature’s Wingman. Some folks (like me!) call him Gandalf, so be forewarned. We venture into unusual spaces. In my book, I'm exploring my complex relationship with my Family Tree. (Don't we all have family patterns to heal?) When Ray shared his own story about Ancestral Healing, I was curious. And when he started talking about our personal responsibility within that lineage, I knew we had something to talk about. Did we ever! How do you know what investment opportunities are right for you? How do you decide as a couple where to invest your money and your time? We’ve covered personal development extensively and have walked you through our personal story. So today we are going to expound a little on the things we’ve chosen to invest in as a couple along the way. You don’t want to miss this one! Highlights From Our Conversation [0:48] External and Internal Investments as a couple [6:20] Working ON the business, not IN the business [12:50] Look at the data for direction [17:38] The market gives and takes away [21:55] Investing in freedom [27:30] Investing in things that matter Investing our time and money into education Investing isn’t just about money. When Ray and I first started our business venture together, when we weren’t working, we spent as much time as possible learning. We’d go to the free classes offered by the Miami Association of Realtors. We invested in educating ourselves as much as we possibly could. In this phase of our life, anything extra went back into investing in knowledge. During this phase of internal investment, we also spent money on seminars, personal development books, audible books—whatever means of learning we could get our hands on. We once had a former employee drop by the office over the weekend to grab something she had left behind, and she was appalled that we were in the office “On a Saturday?!” But you know what? If you want to grow you’ve got to do the work! In every phase of our lives, we continue and will always continue to invest in personal development. We will always talk about it because we believe it is that important. After all, your business is only going to grow as far as you are. If your personal growth is stunted, it will affect every area of your life and business. Working ON the business, not IN the business In our Spring season, all of our time was spent in the ins and outs of growing our business. As we achieved growth, we added staff to our team. We were able to stack money and build capital. We took everything we had learned, put it into action and were finally seeing the fruits of our labor. We had delayed gratification and instead invested our money into growing our business. It was 100% the right move. We took our capital and continued wholesaling, fixing, and flipping properties. We took everything one step at a time and as we showed up we naturally saw the next step. When we hit resistance and didn’t know where to turn we took a deep dive into our finances and it gave us clear direction—some things we were doing just weren’t making money and it was time to move on. So we veered away from wholesaling and started investing in rental properties Investment Opportunities that don’t fit the mold Obviously, a lot of our investment was monetary. It was used towards our business or personal development. But we decided it was time to start investing in our freedom and moving towards the life we desired. At this point in time, Christy had been home with our daughter for a year and I was grinding it out in our business. What had worked for years suddenly just… didn’t. So we sold it all. We offloaded our rental properties and investments and liquidated our team. We managed to sell in the right seasons, and all of the properties we had held onto suddenly brought us more capital. We simplified, decided what we did or did not need, and took that money and began investing it into the next phase of our business as a couple—investing in others. Invest your time in things that make an impact We’ve known for a while that we aren’t operators. Building teams and managing and training isn’t where we excel. So we are taking the capital we’ve earned, and investing in other operators that we trust who have a vision. We’ve moved into the business of risk management, and that works for us right now. Will it always be that way? Who knows. But we are always moving of growth and what works for the season of life that we’re in. But investing our lives to make an impact is what really drives us. It’s why we are doing this podcast! We take our money and use it to hire spiritual coaches. We currently utilize fitness coaching and financial coaching as well. We have added high-level people to our business team. Whatever we are doing, we are always looking to grow so we, in turn, can invest in the growth of others. So many of you have asked for more details on how the two of us got started, so we are dedicating the next two episodes to our story—and how we built our business from the ground up. We’re gonna share more about our history, how we met, and the hustle it took to get our business rolling. You’ll definitely want to tune in and listen to this episode of Both on Board! Highlights From Our Conversation [1:00] Ray’s Story [7:54] Christy’s Story [12:50] Our ‘Date with Destiny’ trip to Australia [16:25] We started working together in November 2011 [18:26] Season 1 of Christy and Ray: challenges and wins [23:18] Biggest win, biggest pain, and the biggest lesson learned [27:00] Investing in an office and creating separation between work and home [34:00] Using personality tests to start to separate responsibilities [37:30] Getting our financials in order Ray’s roots in life and business I was born and raised in Miami, a true Florida boy. I was recruited to work in GE right out of college and found myself in Connecticut where I saw snow for the first time in my life. Every 6 months of working there I was shuffled into a new role, which constantly kept me on my toes and learning. During this time I saved as much as possible, and also invested in my first real estate deal—where I ended up losing $60,000. Despite this setback, I stuck with real estate and even connected with my first partner in the business. Continue listening as we talk about my move back to Miami and how I earned enough money to retire for two years when I met and started dating Christy. Christy’s story of life and personal development I had what I considered the perfect life for someone in their early 20’s. I was a Psychology major in college and after I graduated I started working as a 4th-grade teacher. I made enough money to support myself and was perfectly happy. When Ray and I met and first started dating, I 100% thought he was living off of family money. When I realized everything he had was earned through hard work and grit, I took notice. He gave me Tony Robbins Personal Power CD’s and he didn’t push me to listen to them, simply encouraged me. I took the initiative and listened, and got hooked—completely opening up my world to the idea of personal development. Personal Development as a catalyst in our relationship Ray and I began attending personal development conferences together and I dove into multi-level marketing while still teaching. For anyone looking to get started as an entrepreneur I highly recommend this as a springboard into the industry. It allows you the opportunity to build something from the ground up while gaining first-hand experience. It’s hard work, but it can be so rewarding on a personal and business level. In 2011, Ray and I took a huge leap of faith and traveled to Australia together for 21 days to attend a Tony Robbins ‘Date with Destiny’ seminar. During this time, it dawned on me that I no longer wanted to teach. The entrepreneurial spirit had taken over, and I knew I couldn’t keep splitting my life between teaching and building a business. People thought we were crazy. But this is where we truly started living life on our own terms. Keep listening as we talk about how we could afford 3 weeks in Australia and how it catapulted change in our lives. Building a business where you are both on board There are moments in your life where you have a realization, one where there is no turning back to the way things were before. Experiences that are life-altering. In 2011, I moved into Ray’s apartment where we began building and working on our business for the next two years. There were times where we wouldn’t see our cars for weeks straight and spent the majority of our time in front of our computers. We would send out offers on hundreds of bank-owned properties, and would maybe get an offer accepted on one. Everything changed when we made almost $40,000 on a deal that we had invested in. We realized that we didn’t have to settle for small paychecks anymore. We also realized it was time to invest in an office space and building some separation between personal life and work life. We paid more rent for this office space then we did for our apartment. But it was the best investment we could’ve made because it forced us to play a bigger game and hustle on a higher level. Listen to the rest of the episode as we talk about our heart behind our work and how we learned what was or wasn’t working--and how to fix it. Show Highlights: [00:15] Ray Thompson is one of the true icons in the industry for what he does with lighting design. [00:34] Lighting is critical to telling a story no matter what you're doing. [00:49] Many years ago, Ray began lecturing and educating people about lighting and what can be done with lighting and where events were going. [01:28] When Ray was a kid, he was always good with science and math. His dad owned a vending machine company, and Ray had access to the broken machines, so he would create lighting installations in his bedroom. [01:59] He would even sequence lights to music. He wasn't sure how to make a career out of this, so he went into electrical engineering. [02:55] He moved to LA and was an electrical engineer for Hughes Aircraft. [03:11] While working at Hughes Aircraft, Ray had created some lighting sculptures in his apartment, which a well-known event professional saw and he tells the story of how that led to building a clientele. He loves color and the study of chakra and color on your being. [11:36] Ray directs the events, and lights can be used to create total theater for events. [14:33] We discuss Ray’s concept of the relation between lighting and “the choreography of emotion.” [16:31] Ray likes to be involved early on in the design process and discusses why. [16:56] We learn the behind the scenes process behind a project from proposal to end design. [22:41] Messaging for brands like Tesla involves a unique lighting design approach for a product reveal. [23:38] Ray tells the story behind designing the lighting for the wedding for a king in Dubai. [27:09] We get to hear about lighting projects such as the Governor's Ball for the Emmys, the Oscars Green Room, the Super Bowl, and studio and movie premieres. [31:00] He has worked with very high-end entertainers from Elton John to Katy Perry. [32:19] Ray shares his secrets for production efficiency and profitability that he’s learned over the years. [35:11] Ray shares how lighting technology has evolved since he began in the industry. [38:49] LED screens will get cheaper and cheaper for video walls. [39:24] Ray reveals the best way for industry professionals to work with lighting designers. [40:22] Battery packed pin spots and battery packed uplights are great cost-effective and simple ways for planners and designers to notch things up a level. [41:07] Going to concerts is inspiration and relaxation for Ray. He also gets inspired by the very creative producers that he works with. [42:42] Andy thought the video screens and the lighting at the Ed Sheeran concert were amazing. [43:42] Ray loves what he does. This video needs to be added to the notes. https://www.dropbox.com/sh/l8xwuqffuii8i16/AADzB_5lPGC7YZB9zQe2nW5la/ray%20movie%201.MOV?dl=0 This episode is sponsored by Kushner Entertainment www.kushnerentertainment.com. In this episode we talk about how Ray's model for organizational transformation has evolved over time. Ray sees himself as an explorer. This show is his “report back” about what he has learned about organizational transformation on the frontiers. Listen in today to find out about the history of how Ray went about discovering the elements and key aspects of the nature of the process of transformational change. Today, on the show, Ray shares some teachings and some stories from the many years that he spent developing his model. We explore the difference between organizational transformation and organizational development. When Ray realized the fundamental difference he shifted his consulting practice to focusing on deep, long-term change. Listen in today as Ray explains. Show highlights: How Ray discovered the model that he uses in all of his work with Genysys clients for transformation. The nature of organizational change. The difference between efficiency and effectiveness. Ray explains his vision. Ray was asked at one point if vision-based change could also relate to corporations. Working with a Biotech firm that had lost its vision. Developing a vision for the future. Discovering other elements that also related to his vision. Working with a friend who was using an assessment that he developed, called 'The Job Person-Environment'. How a vision can drive long-range plans. Realizing that the place to begin the process was also where the opportunity for change lay. The importance of collaboration. Why transformational change differs from organizational effectiveness change. A quick summary of the eight elements of Ray's organizational model. There were initially only five elements to Ray's organizational model. Why transformational leadership is the most difficult kind of leadership. What generative leadership brings about in an organization. What makes up the sufficiency of catalytic, transformational and generative leadership. The time that it takes to transform an organization. The Legends track down a magical being in Punk Rock London 1977 which turns out to be a shapeshifter. Ray infiltrates a band that causes London to fall into anarchy to find the person behind the kidnapping of the Queen of England. Synopsis Back at Time Bureau headquarters, a magical blip in the timeline is detected and Nate explains that a punk rock band called The Smell has kidnapped the Queen and her crown jewels. After the Queen is committed to an insane asylum, Britain falls into anarchy, altering the course of history. Sara tries to bring Nate along, however, he declines and tells her he is staying on with the Time Bureau. Meanwhile, the Sara and Gideon bring the rest of the team up to speed and they head to London 1977 looking for a way to infiltrate the band. When Constantine and Rory have it out at the venue, it causes a massive fight and the band flees. They all pile into Ray’s van and he unwittingly drives them to their hideout. When Ray informs the team he knows where the hideout is, Sara instructs him to stay and Constantine offers bizarre advice for catching a leprechaun. It quickly becomes apparent a leprechaun is not the culprit and the band put Ray’s trust to the test in one of their pranks. With an assist from Sara and specific instructions from Mick, Ray kidnaps one of the Queen’s corgis and makes a break for the getaway van. The unharmed dog, now with a mohawk, is dropped at an animal shelter and the band celebrates a successful prank. They commemorate the occasion by giving Ray a tattoo to make things official. Meanwhile, Constantine storms off after another fight with Mick and Zari tracks him to a pub in Liverpool. Despite her jokes, Constantine is not their for the usual reasons, but rather to meet his mum. We later find out that Constantine also attempts to prevent himself from being born, however, the “ball kick” paradox prevents that from happening. He gets in a fist fight with his dad and gets kicked out of the pub. Ray forms a bond with Charlie and learns her true nature: she’s a shapeshifter. Instead of kidnapping the Queen she simply becomes the Queen. He also tells her about how his disco “band” has changed, what with Sara’s serious relationship, and Nate and Amaya leaving the Waverider. Ray tells the team what he has discovered and explains that he thinks he can have her back-off. Constantine immediately tells him he cannot trust the shapeshifter and the team forms an alternate plan when they all come to the consensus that Ray is in over his head. In the final confrontation, the shape shifter turns into each member of the team in turn, telling them exactly what they need to hear to keep her from going straight to hell, literally. In the end, Zari cannot send her through the portal so Constantine removes her shapeshifting powers and they imprison her on the Waverider. During the Legends adventures, Nate and Gary have their own adventure to a prehistoric period. Unfortunately, Gary brings back Seymour as a present for Nate and chaos ensues. They up killing a magical plant with office supplies, much to Ava’s dismay. The Legends contend with an evil fairy godmother hiding in Salem 1692. The Puritans, who are not known for their accepting nature, are to execute Jane Hawthorn when magic intervenes. Synopsis Using the knuckle bones of a saint, the Legends can now use their time seismograph to find magical fugitives. They find their latest quarry in Salem 1692, and as luck would have it, Constantine has decided to join Team Legends (sans costumes). While the team investigates magic at the heart of a witch hunt, Nate has dinner with his father in 2018. After a heated argument, he tells off his father and storms out of the restaurant. Meanwhile, the Legends discover Jane’s daughter Prudence is behind the magic at work in Salem. Constantine returns to Salem with the team to reveal the evil demon possessing the daughter. As it turns out, the daughter has bonded with a fairy godmother straight out of Cinderella. After a near brush with death, the Legends offer to save Prudence’s mother and stow the girl on the Waverider to prevent further meddling. Back at the Time Bureau, Ava discovers a broke Nate sleeping there while working in a late night budget presentation. Back on the Waverider, Sara breaks the news to Zari that according to the historical record, they cannot save Jane Hawthorn. Zari goes rogue and tries to save Jane, but Jane does not want to be saved. Zari follows Jane to her trial and attempts to use her magic to save her. When Zari realizes she has become the monster, she relents and is captured. Sara comes to rescue Zari and fails. Fortunately, Prudence has escaped the Waverider with the help of the fairy godmother and prevents Zari and her mother from being burned at the stake. Having learned her lesson, Zari talks Prudence down from the ledge and she releases the fairy godmother. Back on the Waverider, Sara and Zari have a heart-to-heart, and Constantine tries to convince the fairy godmother to stay with him. She seems more afraid of whatever is hunting him than of hell, so he sends her there straight away. Meanwhile at the Time Bureau, Nate realizes Ava has a budget meeting with his father and backs out. The meeting goes poorly, with Gary recounting “last season on Legends” and explaining they are hunting down magical fugitives. But Nate’s dad isn’t buying and threatens to shut down the entire department. Ava schmoozes Nate and convinces him to speak with his father. Nate brings back Ray, who has been enchanted and turned into a pig, back to the Time Bureau as proof of magic. When Ray returns to his human form, in front of Hank’s eyes, he offers Ava anything to keep that from happening again. After debriefing his father on the Legends, Nate decides to remain in 2018 and attempt to reconnect with his father. Welcome to Everything Trying to Kill You, the podcast that talks about all the dangers of stepping out your front door and why you should cancel your plans to stay home and watch horror movies instead. JUST KIDDING! Except, kinda not really…We are the comedy podcast that talks about horror movies! And all the problematic things that come with them. For episode 19, join Maegan, Mary Kay, Mary, and special guest Eric Skwarczynski from Gut Reactions Podcast, as they discuss Devil’s Candy. They answer questions like: what the appropriate reaction is when a stranger comes to your door and offers you a guitar, are butterflies metal and what do they have to do with government mind control experiments, and ultimately (and most importantly) if they would buy a murder house. Devil’s Candy (2015) – Directed and written by Sean Byrne. Starring Ethan Embry, Shiri Appleby, Pruitt Taylor Vince.Genre: Horror, Supernatural, Thriller, Suspense Where to watch: Netflix Plot (*contains spoilers*): “A struggling painter moves his family into a house with a horrific past and soon finds himself being artistically inspired by demonic forces. Late at night in a countryside house, Raymond Smilie hears an ominous voice. He reacts by playing his red Flying V loudly in front of a crucifix. His mother enters his room and unplugs the guitar. When Ray awkwardly explains he plays to avoid hearing "Him," she says he needs to return to the hospital. Ray continues to hear the voice and kills her. Shortly after, a man enters the house and sees the dead woman.Sometime later, the house is sold to Jesse Hellman, a struggling painter, his wife Astrid and their daughter Zooey. The real estate agent says that the women who lived there died when she fell down the stairs, and her husband killed himself out of despair. Elsewhere, Ray checks into a motel. He listens to tapes preaching about the Devil and plays his guitar. When a noise complaint brings a police officer to his room, Ray stops playing. After settling into the house, Jesse starts hearing the same voices as Jesse. Inspired, he paints a black and white painting based on an upside down cross motif. Jesse later approaches Belial, an art gallery whose owner Leonard previously turned away his portfolio. At his insistence, the receptionist looks at the scan of the painting and appears pleased. One evening, Ray shows up and has a brief conversation with Zooey, who tells him she would love to have a Flying V. Ray wants to enter the house, but an angry Jesse turns him away. The next morning, Zooey and Jesse find Ray's Flying V outside their house, but Jesse refuses to let her keep it. Elsewhere, Ray kidnaps a boy. He carries the boy to a motel room, cuts up his body and puts it in a suitcase. Ray buries the boy in a hole already filled with several suitcases. Is anyone else suddenly craving Reese’s Pieces? The Dominator Queen returns to rescue her time displaced baby who has befriended a young Ray Palmer. Synopsis Ray, Ray… ever the optimist. After an anachronistic baby Dominator appears in 1988 Ivy Town, Ray’s eight-year-old self befriends it. Unfortunately for him, he has bigger things to worry about than bullies--he is murdered by the NSA on Halloween! A very familiar looking government agent, Agent Smith, chases young Ray and orders his death when he tries to save the baby Dominator from experimentation. Agent Smith in 1951 The Legends travel back in time to prevent Ray’s murder. Ray is immediately tipped off that something has altered his life--first he shoplifts from the newsstand, then he skips school! Trying to understand the change to his younger self, Ray peeks through his bedroom window to discover he has a baby Dominator living in his bedroom. Zari and Ray return to his childhood home to take the baby Dominator back to it’s rightful place in time. When Ray’s mom returns home unexpectedly, Nate and Amaya pretend to be exterminators and distract her. Young Ray overhears his mother worrying over his loner tendencies and weird inventions, so he takes Gumball and leaves for Camelot. The NSA track them down, capturing young Ray, Zari and Gumball. Unfortunately, the Dominator Queen has tracked down her baby using her temporal awareness powers (yes, this is a thing, see the link in Extras) and travels through time using an unknown time ship. Sara confronts her and the Queen reads her mind, sending her to Ray’s old house, where she impersonates his mother and seduces Nate. Meanwhile, back on the Waverider, Jax and Rory team-up to discover what Dr. Stein is doing behind their backs. They discover he has been taking the jump ship (destination unknown since he has suspiciously erased the logs) and even has a secret lab! When they confront Stein, he explains that he invented a “time phone” to communicate with his daughter and needs to return to 2017 for the birth of his grandson. Now stranded in 1988, the remainder of the team decides to reunite Gumball with his mother and hope for the best! Luckily it works, and the pacified queen takes her child and leaves. Just in time for everyone to go trick or treating! In the closing scenes, Zari and Ray get to know one another while Jax wrestles with a decision. The episode closes with Jax announcing that he wants to break-up Firestorm. Extras History of the Dominators in the Arrowverse Who is Agent Smith?
