This week, we're diving deep into the world of hills, hills, and... oh yeah, more hills! Join host Kyle as he chats with Michael Russel about the upcoming Liberty Half Marathon and William Jewell 5k - where 'flat' is apparently a four-letter word. From the pre-race expo to the post-race celebrations, Michael spills all the details about this Hy-Vee sponsored event that's doing more than just torturing runners' quads - it's supporting the Liberty Hospital Foundation. Whether you're curious about the course (did we mention it's hilly?), want to learn about the charitable impact, or just need motivation to train on some inclines, this episode is your perfect training partner. Bonus: Find out why runners keep coming back to this challenging March event, despite their calves' formal protests!

For the first time since 2010, Kansas State will visit Missouri on Saturday in a meeting of former Big Eight/Big 12 rivals, and the setting should bring back some happy memories for former Wildcats coach Bill Snyder. His teams won six of nine meetings played on Faurot Field. After engineering one of the greatest program turnarounds in college football history, Snyder stepped down from his Hall of Fame career after the 2018 season. He recently sat down with The Star's Blair Kerkhoff to discuss his life in football, how he came to K-State, some of the remarkable players and games in program history and more. The conversation is presented in a podcast and Q&A. There's another Snyder connection to Saturday's game: He attended Missouri...briefly. Snyder grew up in St. Joseph, and looked to play football for the Tigers. It didn't work out and after a year he enrolled at William Jewell, where the seeds were planted for an incredible coaching tenure. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

This is the 84th episode of the C-10 Podcast. Our first episode was about two years and a week ago, on May 14, 2020. Well, this week we're doing something we've not done before in the previous 83 episodes covering two years and a week.We are going to replay an interview that we originally posted in December 2020 -- episode 32 to be exact. It may seem odd, considering you could go through our list of episodes, find this interview and, if you like, go back and listen to it. Likewise, we could simply post a link to episode 32. But this episode -- this guest -- deserves more than that.See, on May 12, 2022, the college basketball world lost one of its greatest coaches. Kansas City lost one of its kindest, best people. William Jewell College lost, perhaps, its greatest ambassador. And, frankly, we lost someone we considered a friend. Larry Holley.Coach Holley was one of the genuinely good people on this planet. He cared about his players, his family, his friends, and everyone else with whom he came in contact. He was a great friend to C You In The Major Leagues, including being instrumental in making sure that William Jewell College became one of our C-10 Leaders Scholarship partner schools. In case you don't know much about Coach Holley, his name became synonymous with William Jewell College. And vice versa. After all, Holley was the school's basketball coach for 40 years, compiling 916 career wins, which made him the ninth-winningest coach in college basketball history at any level when he retired in 2019. He is the winningest coach in the state of Missouri. He earned 15 Coach of the Year awards, including the NAIA national coach of the year in 1996, and the 2018 Kansas City Sports Commission coach of the year. In 2019, he was selected as the "Blue KC Coach with Character" honoree for the month of April. In this episode, which we've edited from the original to take out some Covid references, we talk about Holley's leadership background, how he and William Jewell have been intertwined, how he used to get the most out of his players, and he took a swing at our "7 Questions."We hope you enjoy it, and see why we felt now was a good time to go into the archives for this special episode.LINKS:For more information about the C-10 Mentoring & Leadership program for high school students, visit our website. To make a financial gift to give students life-changing one-on-one mentoring, visit our secure donation page. For all episodes of the C-10 podcast and ways you can listen, click here.If you'd like to make a comment, have a suggestion for a future guest, or your company would like to help underwrite this podcast, please visit our contact page.
