Today, my guest is someone I met through supporting bodybuilding shows. I had a client competing at the Showtime Classic in Ponte Vedra, Florida, where I had the opportunity to meet and talk with Jacob Pomroy. As he shared some of his stories with me, I knew I wanted to get him on the show to share with others. Jacob is a Full Time Online Coach who champions Grand Mal Seizures, now known as Tonic-Clonic Seizures. According to https://www.hopkinsmedicine.org/health/conditions-and-diseases/epilepsy/tonic-clonic-grand-mal-seizures, here are some things to know about these types of seizures: they involve a tonic (stiffening) phase and a clonic (twitching or jerking) phase. Jacob points out that if you are with someone with one of these types of seizures, you do NOT want to place anything in their mouth. You want to turn them to the side, clear space, and time the seizure. You must let it play out. Jacob served in the US Army National Guard as a Mechanized Infantryman from 2014 to 2017, when he was medically discharged. He has competed in bodybuilding since 2016 and recently competed in 2022. he graduated from the University of Wisconsin - River Falls with a Bachelor's Degree in Exercise & Sports Science. He is also certified as an Exercise Physiologist through the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM).I want to acknowledge Jacob for his vulnerability and for educating those who don't deal with this type of life. While they may seem similar, there is a significant difference between being busy and productive.Being busy typically refers to being occupied with various tasks or activities. When someone is busy, they may have a lot on their plate, and their schedule is filled with numerous commitments. However, being busy doesn't necessarily imply that the person is accomplishing meaningful or important work. It can sometimes indicate being overwhelmed, constantly juggling multiple tasks without a clear sense of direction or purpose.On the other hand, being productive refers to making progress and achieving desired outcomes or goals. Productivity is efficiently using time and resources to generate valuable results. A productive person focuses on tasks that align with their priorities and contribute to their long-term objectives. They prioritize their activities, delegate when necessary, and use tools and strategies to maximize output.The key distinction between being busy and being productive lies in the outcome. Busy work may involve time and effort, but it may yield little results or move the individual closer to their objectives. In contrast, productive work is purposeful, goal-oriented, and produces meaningful outcomes.Here are a few characteristics that differentiate busy work from productive work:1. Prioritization2. Time management3. Outcome-oriented4. Delegation and automation5. Reflection and improvementIn summary, being busy and productive represent different work and time management approaches. Today, my guest is someone I had the opportunity to meet at a bodybuilding show in Orlando, Florida. His name is Chris Spruell, and from the first time I met him, I knew there was something special about him. Chris is a 35-year-old servant of God, father, and fitness guru who is also on a mission to share his testimony to help others in their journeys. We chatted briefly, but he was competing that day, so we didn't have many conversations at first. However, when he returned, he did it with a prophecy that spoke to me. He didn't know me from Eve, but he said the Holy Spirit placed something on his heart that he needed to share. While I can't tell you exactly what he said right now, I can tell you it was RIGHT ON TIME. I needed to hear it. It was encouraging and uplifting. As someone who encourages and uplifts others regularly, I need encouragement, also. I was so grateful for the words that came out of his mouth. We prayed together in the middle of a hallway at a bodybuilding show. That goes to show the Holy Spirit is everywhere. Today, my guest is Theresa Tirk. Theresa says all her life, she has been a people pleaser. Growing up in dysfunction, it was her way of surviving. Theresa says she never considered her health, emotions, or feelings – she shoved it all down to avoid conflict or chaos! She says it erupted like a volcano after 30+ years of silencing herself. There was no more avoiding it. The time to deal with all the hurt, the trauma, the feelings, and the emotions she had ignored for decades had finally come to the surface. Theresa and I have so much alignment in how we both grew up - the trauma of living with parents with co-dependency can have massive effects on those living around it all. According to the American Psychological Association, trauma is "an emotional response to a terrible event like an accident, rape, or natural disaster. Immediately after the event, shock and denial are typical." The APA says, "longer-term reactions include unpredictable emotions, flashbacks, strained relationships, and even physical symptoms like headaches or nausea." The feelings we get from trauma are normal. However, if we harbor them too long, they can keep up from being able to build genuine, lasting, and positive relationships with those around us. I know this all too well. Theresa and I talk transparently about our upbringings and what we have learned along the way. I hope this conversation helps anyone out there who may be experiencing similar feelings. I encourage anyone who has endured childhood trauma to look into EMDR - Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing - Therapy. Look for reputable therapists who are well-versed in this area and can help you along your journey to recovery. I am genuinely grateful I went through EMDR. It helped me tremendously, and I recommend it to anyone harboring things. We are meant for greatness, but we must be willing to work through things to get where we are meant to be. Today, my guest is Susan Ball. Susan discloses to us how leaving the relationship which nearly killed her was her starting point. Susan now can help you find your new beginning also. Breaking away from an abusive relationship is the beginning of a difficult journey. Making the changes to rebuild your life will hurt. Susan had to do it, and she's now supported others to make those changes too - when you're ready to build a new life, do it with support. Why Does a Woman Stay in an Abusive Relationship? Why Did Susan Stay? Even when it hurts, a known place can feel like security. Starting as a child where, over the years, Susan attended 26 schools, building relationships seemed impossible. She felt unsupported and unable to find her own voice. This place of insecurity and loneliness became the place she believed she belonged. Maybe you felt trapped, like myself and Susan, believing there was no way out. Some of the barriers Susan faced in moving forward were admittedly at her own making; imagining a different future felt almost as impossible as achieving it. Other obstacles were physical and terrifying. Eventually, desperation made Susan leave, and courage brought her opportunities. In those moments when you can't envision your change - know that you're not alone. More of us out here have to do the same work you are doing internally. Breaking the Cycle Means Finding REAL Recovery After Abuse. Susan has been a coach for many years, but establishing her approach to REAL recovery took a long time. She is now about 10 years in the making and still going, just like we all have to keep going. Susan was determined not to be defined by her past and tried to push it away - until realizing that healing those wounds was necessary to create the better future she truly believed in. Having been through counseling, she still relived the nightmare -- frustrated and confused, it felt like she couldn't move on. Kellina Powell is also known on social media as Deaf Queen Boss. Kellina, based in Canada, is a young woman on a mission to create more inclusivity for the deaf and hard of hearing community. At the age of 4, Kellina lost her hearing, but with the support of her family was able to cultivate her education in both the deaf and hearing communities. She now uses her skills as a Mental Health and Disability Coach educating, inspiring, and motivating others.
