You have to know what motivates someone - what 'bait' do they want? 4.10: How can a coach improve in the art of empathy? Ask questions and listen to the answers (stop talking)! What's behind what they are saying is often the truth. 7.06: What do you mean by the art and science of coaching? "I believe that coaching is an art based on a science." The artist coaches last longer in sports as long as they surround themselves with scientists. 9.46: Skill Acquisition - all open skills require you to teach decision-making first, technique second (but not secondary), because the best players are often the 'smartest' (they are in the right place at the right time). Make sure you expose players to different ways of solving problems. 13.07: The Yips: Any sport/skill where there is time to think about failure is difficult. 15.42: Coaching Philosophy = The beliefs and principles on which your decisions and actions are based! Having a well-developed coaching philosophy (that evolves over time) will help you during times of uncertainty. 16.54: Once you choose a philosophy, have a mentor take the opposite view to challenge you on what you believe to be true. "Players 'feel', coaches 'see'. Therefore, teach your players to teach other players what they know (focus on their strengths - the fastest way to improve their self-esteem). They started coaching during the matches.19.30: What are the benefits of peer coaching? 23.00: Top 3 tips: 1) Learn how to teach (get a qualification if you can). Teach through pearls of wisdom. Players learn through doing. 2) Learn how to teach skills. There are four ways that teaching can occur: 1) Coach to Player 2) Player to Player 3) Player to Coach 4) Player alone 3) Practice your people management - learn how to build relationships with your players. 24.58: The Next Coach Program - There is not one way to coach but think about how you are going to coach. It's based on principles, not methods. 28.25: In the ever-evolving coaching landscape what disruptive idea do you have that will disrupt the way that we coach in 2030? It's evolving to teaching through play! Good training is really ugly! How can we teach better than what we already know? In 2030, we will have really good goal-kicking coaches. 31.20: What makes a great coach? (WMAGC) Empathy Teaching People Management 32.27: A mentor tells you things that you don't want to hear. A mentor is someone you respect. Someone you believe in and who is on your side. "What is life about? I had no answers. And so, honestly, my mental health did start to take a major toll." "A lot of these athletes, if they had the privilege of generating a good amount of income over the course of their career, are without financial advising and the appropriate kind of financial counseling to help set them up for the long term." "I think it's really healthy to go through those emotional ups and downs afterward. That's a healthy grief process." "A lot of times people think I'm grieving... I grieve the routine I had training every day in the gym." "We're not created to be alone. We need community for sure." "We need to recognize all the value that we have intrinsically as each individual human being on top of what you can do in your sport." "Lean into the fact that you get to experience the Olympic village, the camaraderie, and the opportunity to connect with fellow athletes on a human level." "Struggling after retirement shouldn't be the norm; we're changing those metrics and creating a supportive community for athletes." If you're wondering whether you can design your dream life; meaning manifest the dreams that are most pressing on your heart, this episode is soooo for you!   Lauren Jones, my guest this week, thought she had it all, working in a high-profile finance job making a lot of money, getting married and spending time traveling, seeing the world and doing all the ‘right things'.    Except for one tiny issue, she was miserable and felt unfulfilled at a deep soul level.   Maybe you can relate and you also have that gnawing sense that there is more — more to be expressed through you, more to be experienced, and more ways to feel like you're making a difference in the world.    Lauren's story will inspire and motivate you to think differently about your one precious life. Lauren shares about her personal miracles, u-turns, and how she has learned to move through discomfort, embrace change, go for her heart-led dreams, and design a life she loves (and help others to do the same as a Life Designer®).   Key Takeaways:

The DoD launched a pilot program in 2011 called SkillBridge. The intention of the program is to provide service members and spouses with an in-depth and real-world training opportunity as they prepare to move from active duty to post-military employment. Today, the program has grown to almost 3,000 different SkillBridge opportunities. Cameron-Brooks is one of them! So what is the Cameron-Brooks SkillBridge experience like? It's the ideal opportunity for high-achieving JMOs that want to transition to a growth position in business. Cameron-Brooks has been an approved DoD SkillBridge provider since 2022 and many officers have participated in our 12-week, curated training program as they prepare to attend the Cameron-Brooks Career Conference and follow-up interview process. What can come from a Cameron-Brooks SkillBridge opportunity? Lots more opportunity! In this episode, I talk to Wyatt Boyd. Wyatt shares his Cameron-Brooks SkillBridge experience in preparation for the January 2023 Career Conference. At the conference, he interviewed with 10 industry-leading companies, and just about every one of them demonstrated a high level of interest in pursuing him for follow-up interviews. Wyatt conducted multiple follow-up interviews and received offers for employment along the way. He ultimately received and accepted an offer with Abiomed, a Johnson and Johnson company. Wyatt describes how he was able to benefit from the Cameron-Brooks SkillBridge program in order to maximize his opportunities, earn multiple offers for employment, and ultimately select the opportunity that best matched his career goals. So, what does Wyatt attribute to his success? In a phrase: Preparation is the Key to Success Wyatt was able to focus on some key areas while on the SkillBridge, including: Development and Preparation Program (DPP©) Tabs and Modules: This 5-tab curriculum is designed to lead the participant through a thorough self-analysis, business skill development, in-depth career field option research, and interview answer construction. Development and Preparation Program (DPP©) Required Reading Program: This 10-book reading program is designed to educate and inform the participant on crucial business concepts such as Lean/Six Sigma, Project Management, Corporate Finance, Data Analysis, Business to Business Selling, Operational Excellence, Rapport Building, Team Leadership and other important business concepts. Resume Creating Guidelines – This tool, in conjunction with a proprietary pre-formatted Microsoft Word template, is designed to guide the participant through a resume creation process in preparation for business interviews. Interview Skills Workshops – The participant will participate in 3 different levels of an Interview Skills Workshop: - Basic Interview Skills Workshop: This workshop is designed to teach the fundamentals of interviewing, including how to build rapport, connect their military background, and the methods to answering the 28 most commonly asked interview questions. - Intermediate Interviews Skills Workshop: This workshop is designed to continue to instill the fundamentals of interviewing while allowing the participant to practice their interview skills under the supervision of a trained Transition Coach. - Advanced Interview Skills Workshop: This workshop is typically provided in a smaller setting (4-5 participants) in order to allow the candidate to practice advanced interview skills like answering less common questions, asking quality questions, and closing the interview. Career Field Media: This resource is primarily comprised of seven 1-hour videos designed to educate the participant on the 4 major categories of career fields that Junior Military Officers typically pursue: Engineering Management, Team Leadership, Business Analysis, and Business-to-Business Sales. Interview Preparation Workshops: This workshop, in conjunction with the proprietary Interview Guideline Worksheet,

As business owners, we often find ourselves so engrossed in the daily grind that we forget to stop and ask the most crucial question: Are we truly living the life we want? While achieving professional success is undoubtedly essential, it's equally important to pause, reflect, and ensure that personal growth and mental fitness are not left behind. The truth is that self-awareness, finding space for what truly matters, and improving our mental fitness are essential components that can lead to lasting peace of mind and a more fulfilling life. Join Matt DiFrancesco and Charis Santillie,  Life Balance & Transition Coach for Entrepreneurs and Host of the Charis Your Life podcast, as they talk about how our mental challenges can hold us back from achieving the life we want and how having a coach to guide us as we face these hurdles is vital to having a richer life than what we imagined. Her mother developed alcoholism while she kept herself ridiculously busy to be able to control her internal crises. When Charis realized that she shouldn't let her father's condition paralyze her life, she met with a life coach who helped her peel back her protective layers and learn to trust herself and the world around her. She then spent the next 10 years focusing on personal development until she finally found calm and inner peace. Charis now guides top achievers through their personal and professional transitions and helps them go from “busy to balanced”. She believes that it's possible to live the life we want without dealing with persistent guilt, worries about others' opinions, or sacrifices to your health and sense of purpose. Aside from being a coach and podcast host, Charis is also a speaker, Certified Fearless Living® Coach, Certified Fearless Trainer, and Positive Intelligence® Trainer. But as any regular listener to this show knows, when we make a practice of paying attention to our dreams, whole new worlds of greater self-awareness are open to us.My guest on this episode, Transition Coach and Award-Winning Author and Speaker Linda Deir, believes these messages come to us via guides who are with us throughout our lives to help us reach our highest visions of ourselves. Linda's guides first came to her as a child and helped her navigate successfully through years of turmoil and family unrest. She now helps others discover their own destinies through contact with their guides and reveals:• There's no such thing as a dream that doesn't matter• The life destiny dream she had for years and what it now means for everyone• The messages from her guides that made her a successful businessperson• How she helps others understand their guides• Why guides are here to help usIf you feel you still need proof that dreams matter, you're sure to be convinced after listening to this eye-opening episode of Dream Power Radio.Life-Change self-help author, Linda Deir, a serial entrepreneur ... was never formally educated for any of it, she was guided. Her flagship book, Guided explains this. As unconventional as this may sound, it's always been the norm for Linda. Without any formal training, by age 19 and beyond she became an architectural home designer, general contractor, sub-contractor, businesswoman, real estate broker, Internet Service, and Host Provider, dream interpreter, transition coach, trainer, and now, author and speaker. Every vocation was accomplished with the timely guidance she received from her Spirit Guide Angels. Nothing has ever been out of reach for her; all that was required was that she show up, pay attention, and take action. As a result of the child abuse she encountered until age 16 she learned to perfect this process of detecting and following her guidance. Linda awakens each day with a passion for sharing what she's learned from living a Guided life. In her book, Guided, she shares the lessons from her Spirit Guides and Angels so people can recognize guidance when it shows up in their lives - creating a better life than you could have done on their own.A dynamic presenter in person, Linda brings through spontaneous insights that reawaken the soul's urge to express itself.
