    THE LAW OF SOLID GROUND

Play Episode Listen Later Mar 28, 2022 24:53

Trust is the foundation of leadership. It is earned or it isn't.The LAW OF SOLID GROUND is a case for building a solid character, living with integrity, authenticity and discipline.Character is the source of trust. We build our character by being scrupulously honest, even when it hurts. To be authentic, we must be ourselves with everyone, not pretending to be something that we aren't. Discipline comes from doing what needs to be done whether we like it or not.As a retail leadership, you are as good as your word and your ability to keep. Your talents will only get you so far. If you are a hands-on leader, setting endcaps, doing planograms, or as a field leader, you devote a ton of time walking stores and helping them solve problems. This law of Solid Ground will help you maintain the respect and admiration of your team. However, if are new to leadership and have yet to get the buy-in of your team. this law will be a great starting point for you.Character cannot develop in an environment in which ethical decisions are forced upon the individual. Character is a product of judgment, discretion, and choice — born from a man's free agency. This is to say that the choices every single person makes influence the world around him, and that the existence of a virtuous society is predicated on the virtue of each of its individual members. How to Keep your Character:1. Strive to be the same person in front of the crowd as you are behind the scenesWhen the pressure is on, what's inside always comes out.In a crisis or under stress, we don't have the luxury of keeping up appearances. It's at such times that our actions reveal who we really are—for good or for ill.Are you the same person outside of work?Do you live differently around different peer groups?Does your environment determine your speech or is it consistent no matter what?2. Be very careful not to conformSometimes it's easier to conform.Sometimes the stakes aren't that high, the outcome isn't that  important, and it would just be easier all the way around to simply go with the flow.Romans 12:2, “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.”You see, character isn't who we say we are. It's who we actually are.You can fake almost anything in life, but not your character. You either have it or you don't. Character means doing the right thing regardless of what others think. It often means standing alone and acting courageously.3. Learn to value the process of building your characterCharacter being established through endurance. If you're an athlete, you know there are no short cuts to winning a race or competition. Character is no different. You can't wheel through somewhere and grab it.You can't just decide you have it and tell others that you do, either. It's built through endurance.Don't check your character at the door.//LINKS✅ WORTHY RETAILU https://worthyretailu.com/now✅ RETAIL LEADERSHIP with Steve Worthy PODCAST https://worthyretailu.com/podcast✅ RETAIL U LEADERSHIP COACHING https://www.facebook.com/groups/wlgexecutivecoaching✅ WORTHY RETAILU MERCH https://www.pressnsow.com/worthyretailu

Leadership is a process and it takes time to master, there's no way around the processTrust the processWhat is does influence really mean: Things may look bad now, but we have a plan in place to make it better.”LAW OF ADDITIONThe law of addition focuses on how to add value to your team in order to create more leaders to grow. Leaders who pour into their teams create more leaders. We know we can use more authentic leadership these days.True leaders ask “How can I serve?” Because they are focused on service, it's not so much about “What's in it for me.”As a retail leader, a large portion of your role is to invest in your team beyond their paycheck. The law of addition provides you an idea of how to serve your teamThree tips on how t add value to your teamValue othersValue their timeInformation - people seem to have inside knowledge on a market, idea, trend, or community, and are known as people who spread change through their knowledge.Culture - what time of culture are you creating as a leaderMake yourself more valuableThe premise of adding value to the lives of your team members is that you intentionally add impact and substance. You cannot give what you don't have.Know and relate to what others value“Inexperienced leaders are quick to lead before knowing anything about the people they intend to lead. But mature leaders listen, learn, and then lead.” John C. MaxwellMany leaders are too quick to take charge. A good leader takes the opportunity to listen to what every person believes is important and then leads.“The bottom line in leadership isn't how far we advance ourselves but how far we advance others,” John C. Maxwell wrote. Great leaders derive pleasure from making life better for others by adding value to them. They are intentional about adding merit and making it part of their core values.Developing and executing influence and being active in your own journey are keys to success//LINKS✅ WORTHY RETAILU https://worthyretailu.com/now✅ RETAIL LEADERSHIP with Steve Worthy PODCAST https://worthyretailu.com/podcast✅ RETAIL U LEADERSHIP COACHING https://www.facebook.com/groups/wlgexecutivecoaching✅ WORTHY RETAILU MERCH https://www.pressnsow.com/worthyretailu

5 Levels Of Leadership - What level are you on?

Play Episode Listen Later Oct 19, 2021 20:07

5 LEVELS OF LEADERSHIPLevel 1 — PositionThe lowest level of leadership—the entry-level, if you will—is Position. It's the only level that requires no ability or effort to achieve. After all, anyone can be appointed to a position! People who remain on the position level may find it difficult to work with volunteers. Why? Because position does not automatically result in influence, and volunteers are aware that they don't have to follow anyone. They truly only follow if they want to.Level 2 — PermissionLevel 2 is based on relationships. At this level, people choose to follow because they want to. In other words, they give the leader Permission to lead them. To grow at this level, leaders work on getting to know their people and connecting with them. You can't lead without people, which means you need to learn to like people if you want to lead well!Level 3 — ProductionThe best leaders know how to motivate their people to GTD – get things done! And getting things done is what Level 3 is all about. On this level, leaders who produce results build their influence and credibility. People still follow because they want to, but they do it because of more than the relationship. People follow Level 3 leaders because of their track record.Level 4 — People DevelopmentLevel 4 can be summed up in one word: reproduction. Your goal at this level is to identify and develop as many leaders as you can by investing in them and helping them grow. The reason is simple: When there are more leaders, more of the organization's mission can be accomplished. When you invest in them, you can reproduce yourself.Level 5 — PersonhoodThe highest level of leadership is also the most challenging to attain. It requires longevity as well as intentionality. You simply can't reach Level 5 unless you are willing to invest your life into the lives of others for the long haul. But if you stick with it, if you continually focus on both growing yourself at every level, and developing leaders who are willing and able to develop other leaders, you may find yourself at the Pinnacle.//LINKS✅ WORTHY RETAILUhttps://worthyretailu.com/now✅ RETAIL LEADERSHIP with Steve Worthy PODCASThttps://worthyretailu.com/podcast ✅ RETAIL U LEADERSHIP COACHINGhttps://www.facebook.com/groups/wlgexecutivecoaching✅ WORTHY RETAILU MERCHhttps://www.pressnsow.com/worthyretailu

Day 1 Ready is about the preparation you undertake to start a new venture, job, mission, or task. It is about the work that you do in advance to ensure optimal success for your team or company. On the contrary, Day 1 Ready, is also about mindset. Day 1 Ready leaders bring a contagious amount of energy, enthusiasm, passion, and curiosity every single day. Day 1 Ready leaders are optimistic, problem solvers, and strong communicators. There is a level of consistency in their performance as they strive to produce top results and motivate others.  As we delve deeper into the Day 1 Ready framework, there are three tips to keep in mind to help you reach your highest potential as a retail leader. As a retail leader you must to:Be Courageous Leadership requires courage. John Maxwell stated it best: “Successful leaders have the courage to take action while others hesitate.” Courageous leaders are brave, daring, and gutsy.  Be Creative I can remember hearing one of my favorite leaders tell me “Courage breeds creativity.” Being creative is thinking about how to create efficiencies, reduce waste, and optimize performance. Be Committed When you are courageously ready to launch your new creative idea, it requires commitment. You are willing to try again, perhaps making tweaks to the initial idea, often seeking input and feedback from others. Follow us so you don't miss any future episodesRESOURCESWORTHY RETAILU ABOUT US! NARRATIVEEvery year, season, we create declarations on either self improvement, varying goals we want to accomplish or visions we desire to occur in our lives. We place our HOPE a desired outcome. Now HOPE by itself can be misleading, because it's not a strategy. However, it's a vital part of your leadership journey. We discuss the four areas below:Define HopeWhat do people hope for?Downfalls of HopeWhat Can Hope do for you as a leaderDEFINE HOPEHope is an optimistic expectation of a favorable outcome regarding a given circumstance.Denial is closing your eyes to the truth because you don't like it or can't deal with it.  Hope only becomes denial when you give up fighting and start hiding.Hope is not a strategy The core of the “hope is not a strategy” mindset (or, sometimes, “hope is not a plan” or “hope is not a course of action”) carries some validity. Top thing people hope for :No. 1: Happiness - Biggest challenge: “Not knowing what I want to do.”No. 2: Money - Biggest challenge: “Not having enough money or time to accomplish the things I want to do.”No. 3: Freedom - Biggest challenge: “Having the freedom to find my ‘true purpose' or being lit up by the day-to-day at work.”No. 4: Peace - Biggest challenge: “Lack of clarity about who I am and my purpose.”No. 5: Confidence - Biggest challenge: “Feeling like I have something to offer now, rather than feeling constantly as if I'm not ready and need more training.”PERCEIVED DOWNFALLS OF HOPEFalse hope is a hope that has no meaningful basis in reality. ... Such excessively aspirational hope isn't only irrational, it's also imprudent and can at times be dangerous. For it can increase the risk that you'll get into more trouble than you might already be inHope can be an inherently biased ideal. hope is a highly personal thingHope can hamper us from adequately preparing for negative outcomes.Hope can be like prayer: wishing for something rather than more forcefully working toward itIII.
