Jarie is an Army Veteran and graduated with honors from American InterContinental University with a degree in Business Administration. She graduated from AVI Career Training as a Master Esthetician in 2013 and obtained her Acne Certification from Face Reality Skincare. Additionally, she has numerous Certificates of Completion for Herbal Medicine, Perfumery/ Artisan Perfumery, Makeup Application, and Makeup Artistry.    The name of her business is Clear My Skin by JChantell. She shares how her journey in business began as a young girl who was impressed by the presence and sophistication of her mother. “I remember smelling my mom's clothes in her closet. That was my first love of fragrance. I would watch her get ready to go out with her girlfriends, and she had her skincare and makeup application down to a science. First her skincare routine, followed by her makeup then her clothes selection and last, her perfume scent.  As a teenager, I had acne issues, and the first skincare product I used was Noxzema. No moisturizer, exfoliant, mask, or sunscreen - just noxema. It worked okay on my skin, and at the time, I didn't know or understand I needed a routine rather than one product. It was then I developed my interest in skincare. The more I explored and experimented with different products, the more I wanted to know about skincare and skin health,” she says. Her interest would soon develop into a career involving skin care and Esthetics. Jarie says if she could change anything about her journey in business, she would've been more confident about what she had to offer in her field and not be afraid to take more risks. "I was so cautious and wanted everything to be perfect rather than take chances and fail in order to learn," she says.  Moving forward, Jarie plans to continue to learn about skin health, herbalism, and perfumery and hopes to expand on being a Virtual Esthetician and getting her Eau de Parfums in stores.  She also wants to donate more of my services to nonprofit organizations.    To learn more about Huami Magazine, please visit our website at www.huamimagazine.com You may also follow us on Facebook and Instagram by putting Huami Magazine, or This Is Who I Am Podcast in your search box. Nana's Summertime Treats by Sharon RogersAs far as my family can remember, from back in the early 1960s up to the present, most summers when school is out African American children are sent down South to stay with close family members, such as grandparents, aunts, uncles, to learn how to work the fields or just for free child care. In those days, we truly believed in the scripture that says, "I am my brother's keeper" (Genesis 4:9).This story is about a little girl named Kiari in the twenty-first century, and the routine continues. Kiari is taught that Nana, her grandmother, does her share to keep the family going. What Kiari learns is that being a good cook is hard work. Kiari also learns some reading skills and business techniques at a very young age. She looks forward to sharing this valuable time with her grandparents.Sharon Rogers was born and raise in the small town of Hickman Kentucky population 2,365. She is the daughter of Aubrey and Annie Ruth Brown. Number five out of six children, raised with three brothers and two sisters. She graduated from Fulton County High School. She was a devote member of Lake Chapel Baptist Church where she help taughtSunday School and song in the choir. She would take the Sunday School lesson and put them into today terms so the student could understand it better. She would go over the lesson with her mom to make sure she was on the right track. Sharon holds a Bachelor's Degree in Home Economics, Child Development from Murray State University and a Master's Degree in Education, Instructional Technology from American InterContinental University. She has been writing since high school. She creates stories from her family photo albums. She uses her past and present experiences to uplift young children and motivate them to be all they can be, no matter their age. As a Head Start teacher she would write stories about her students as the star of the story to make them laugh and feel empowered to add to the store. As the Community Resource Manager, when the pandemic hit, she transitioned this service to online so parents could have story time in the homes with their children by creating “Mrs. Sharon Reading Corner. Her ultimate goal is that children actually be excited about learning and seeing themselves in what is read to and with them. She wants them to see the power and potential that reading can have on their lives and the place it can take them.. Sharon is a proud member of Galilee Baptist Church: She served as a Sunday School Teacher, Director of Junior Church, and Black History Month Director. She shares that her being in the different magazines is what originally gave her the idea to create her own publication, Brash Magazine. She shares that there wasn't much money in runway modeling but she did find success doing print modeling where she was featured in several different magazines from all over the world. Alexcina knew the next step for her was to go into acting. Alexcina shared that she had done some acting work on a show called “Justice By Any Means” for the TV one network which depicts a true crime event. She says that that particular type of work is a lot of improv and acting with your scene partner but no actual speaking dialogue. Durell and Alexcina talk about many people who are fascinated with true crime because they often wonder what would make someone want to commit a crime eventually get caught and spend years in prison. Durell shares a particular story of a true crime murder involving former NFL player Rae Carruth in which he tried to kill his girlfriend and she gave birth to a son before she passed away and his son was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy. Because this is audio I could pretend that I'm always dressed impeccably and everyone admires my flair for fashion. Italians would call me a bella figura.  Full disclosure, this is not the case. I care more for comfort than for style. So when I invited my guest, Nic Hyl, to talk about fashion design I was truly ignorant at the start, and absolutely fascinated to learn about the process. Nic has a combination of creativity, business savvy, and sensitivity to client's needs that impressed me greatly. She recognized that while school could teach her the art of design she needed real world experience to take her designs to the masses. I really loved hearing her explain how a garment goes from idea in her head to the customer's closet.  And the other element that really struck me in our conversation was how Nic Hyl Clothing recognizes the tender feelings women have about their bodies when they put on a bathing suit. I purposely shared this episode at this time of year when many of us are resolving to eat better and exercise more. Nic's philosophy of helping women love themselves as they are in the skin they're in is a breath of fresh air. I hope you agree. Here's the interview. Owner and CEO of Haven Design Works Donna Mathis is in the studio for today's episode of Atlanta Real Estate Forum Radio. Joined by co-hosts Carol Morgan and Todd Schnick, the group discusses several hot 2021 design trends, as well as recent and upcoming projects from Haven Desing Works on this All About Real Estate segment of Radio. Mathis spent her entire career in the design industry so far, working alongside builders the whole time. After studying interior design at the University of South Carolina and the American Intercontinental University, Mathis began working with a large national model merchandising firm. After several years of learning the trade and gaining experience in the industry, she launched DMD Studios. This company later grew to become a national, award-winning firm. In 2013, Mathis joined forces with fellow designer, Lisa Giles. The two created Haven Design Works. “I love design, and I love the possibilities that design brings to builders to help them tell their story,” said Mathis. Located in Suwanee, Georgia, Haven Design Works has been in business for eight years and works with several clients up and down the East Coast. Working in every major city along the coast, Haven Design Works collaborates with builders and developers across a wide range of projects, including master-planned communities, community clubhouses, model homes, model parks, amenity centers and more. In 2020, Haven Design Works earned several awards at the Annual OBIE Award ceremony.  The OBIE Awards, presented by the Atlanta Sales and Marketing Council (SMC) on behalf of the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association (HBA), recognize outstanding achievements within the homebuilding industry and serve as the premier awards given in the Atlanta new home construction industry. Haven Design Works won the following awards at the 40th Annual OBIE Awards: Community of the Year and Best Amenity Package – Gold Winner Single-Family Builder, Detached $1 to $1.2 Million – Gold Winner Best Interior Merchandising, Detached $300,000 to $399,000 – Gold Winner Best Interior Merchandising, Attached, $299,000 and Under – Gold Winner Best Interior Merchandising, Attached, $299,000 and Under – Silver Winner Haven Design Works partnered with Jim Chapman Communities, Chathambilt Homes, Traditions of Braselton and Paran Homes to sweep the board, winning awards for merchandising model homes and amenity centers. Mathis does not have a specific type of client she looks for when taking on new design work. From small builders to master-planned community amenity centers, Haven Design Works has the skilled team and wide-spread portfolio experience to take on a variety of project types. For Mathis, the perfect client is someone who has a vision she can help bring to life. “I call it the special sauce,” said Mathis. “To me, the special sauce is when you can partner with your builder and you help them tell their story and help them sell their product in a way that buyers can get and relate to.” Looking forward, Mathis anticipates a big trend for 2021 to include joy. This feeling is something that was scarcely lacking in 2020 due to the effects of the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic. Looking for patterns, colors and pieces that reflect joy and happiness, Mathis plans to incorporate a variety of design elements into her work in 2021 that reflect the feeling of joy. From soft circular shapes to bright delightful hues, Haven Design Works has a goal of bringing joy and happiness to projects in the 2021. Another hot trend Mathis predicts for the upcoming year is the purging of formal spaces! The alternative to these formal areas are relaxed, cozy areas within a home or living space. Signifying a state-of-mind, this design trend reflects the shift in at-home life due to the pandemic. Mathis predicts a change from mid-century furniture and style that incorporates clean and elegant lines,

Is it serving you and your current mindset? Are you talking to people and watching and listening to things that are positive, constructive and happy? When our life is out of control, one thing we still have control over is our environment - make it an upbeat, positive one.On purpose, do things that feed your soul. Curate tools into your life that will feed your soul. Have a go-to speakers, friends, podcasts, destinations (a park or body of water, for example) music play-lists, etc. you can access any time you need a “booster shot."Get it out - talk to a friend or a therapist, or journal. Chad Brown is an accomplished documentary style portrait and adventure photographer, creative director, conservationist, and founder/president of a non-profit organization. He has a strong vein when it comes to outdoor adventure travel and documenting threatened wild spaces, as well as connecting the public to endangered areas by capturing and showing the true spirit of the people of these lands. He also produces intense, raw images of stylized dramatic documentary portraits by creatively using a bold approach, unique angles, and dramatic lighting. He is deeply interested in capturing moments of passion and the human spirit. Through his striking documentary portraits and photographic exhibitions, he showcases and advocates for social and environmental justice. He studied communication design and photography at American Intercontinental University. He then attended Pratt Institute in NYC, where he earned Masters of Science in Communication Design. He has managed interdisciplinary teams as a creative director, art director and photographer for design firms and agencies as well as a freelance artist. His work has crossed into underground hip hop, fashion, and pop culture, photographing the streets of NYC and successfully presenting to one of the nation’s leading hip-hop culture business moguls, Russell Simmons, founder of Phat Farms. Brown worked directly with Run Athletics, developing creative campaigns and executing photoshoots. He is also an editorial photographer for the New York Times. His photography adventure assignments have lead him touring Japan, Hong Kong, Vietnam, and Bangladesh. He is also part of the less than 1% of world population who had been to Antartica. In fact, he has received the Antartica Service Medal for surviving more than 30 days on the Antarctic continent while he was serving in the Navy.
After leaving the hustle of New York City, he is now residing in Portland, Oregon. His career paths and his life have expanded beyond the realm of the traditional creative world. Mother Nature has played a significant role in his healing from war traumas he experienced as a Navy service member. His failed suicide attempt eventually led him to the launching of a non-profit organization unlike any other, called Soul River Inc. Soul River specializes in outdoors education and cultural expeditions Brown calls deployments. It brings together at-risk youth and Veterans as mentors and takes them into threatened wild spaces, providing mission-driven experiences where advocacy and outdoor education meet. His work has lead him to Capitol Hill, advocating for our public lands and wild places, bringing youth leaders of tomorrow and giving them an opportunity to interface with Congressional members. Brown is a Boardmember of the National Wildlife Refuge Association. He has been featured on BBC, CBS, as well as in national publications such as Outside Magazine and The Drake, and in various Pacific Northwest publications. Additionally, Brown was the first recipient of the Breaking Barriers Award Presented by Orvis, as well as the Bending Toward Justice Award from Oregon Senator Jeff Merkley.

Prior to this interview, I read links Joshua sent about his criminal charges, the "crackpot crackdown" of the town he was arrested in and how often they charged people with fabricated charges. In his words to me about his incredible story: Long story short I got a reversal (backwards message/reverse speech) in January of 2008 that said 'summer of shame, let's miss it'. About 4 months later in May of the same year, I got pulled over in Edna, a small Texas town notorious for really shady stuff, you can view a 12 page expose article about this town and prosecutor published in the Austin Chronicle here: https://www.google.com/url?q=https://www.austinchronicle.com/news/2005-10-21/301887/&sa=D&ust=1572112677982000&usg=AOvVaw0lAcN-nAgGv0mJ1PWKGANy (https://www.austinchronicle.com/news/2005-10-21/301887/)  I got pulled over and arrested for possession of Marijuana when there was no Marijuana. I decided to fight the misdemeanor and they dropped the misdemeanor and charged me with a 3rd-degree felony, Tampering w/Physical Evidence. I took it to trial and they gave me 10 years in prison for "eating a joint." Although my case sounds completely absurd, this has been a common occurrence in the US for decades. You can read the appellate brief of my case here: https://www.google.com/url?q=https://law.justia.com/cases/texas/thirteenth-court-of-appeals/2014/13-12-00320-cr.html&sa=D&ust=1572112677982000&usg=AOvVaw1_wth51i3aIKdaqfJvhHJD (https://law.justia.com/cases/texas/thirteenth-court-of-appeals/2014/13-12-00320-cr.html)  Getting that reversal 4 months before this happened blew my mind as it was definitely a shameful summer. After that happened, I decided to write my book 'Reverse Speech In Theory & Practice: How To Use Your Unconscious Mind To Predict The Outcome Future Events'. Crazy how what seems like a tragedy can actually be a blessing :)    IN HIS WORDS: An indie author who's published two books, Reverse Speech in Theory & Practice: How To Use Your Unconcious Mind To Predict The Outcome Of Future Events & 40 Ways To Making Cash In 30 Days.
