Send us Fan MailIn Bunia, in the Democratic Republic of Congo's Ituri Province, an Ebola outbreak is unfolding without the tools the world usually relies on to stop one. There's no vaccine. No approved treatment. And the strain behind it — Bundibugyo virus — doesn't even present the way Ebola usually does, making it harder for health workers to recognize and harder for communities to believe. In this episode, Desmond sits down with Dr. Aimé Gilbert Mbonda Noula, a public health and emergency coordinator with the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), deployed in Bunia to support the response. Dr. Mbonda takes us inside what daily life looks like under an active outbreak layered on top of armed conflict — the door-to-door conversations correcting rumors, the safe and dignified burial teams working to stop transmission through the dead, and the moment in early June when a burial team was violently attacked after a community rumor spiraled out of control. In this episode:What daily life looks like in Bunia under an active Ebola outbreakWhy the Bundibugyo strain is uniquely difficult to detect, treat, and communicate aboutInside the Red Cross's safe and dignified burial processWhat happened when a burial team was attacked — and how the response changed afterwardWhy misinformation is, in Dr. Mbonda's words, an outbreak of its ownWhat international donors and policymakers need to understand right nowTo support us, consider becoming a paid subscriber on Patreon or making a one-time donation via PayPal.Subscribe to our weekly newsletter: globalhealthunfiltered.comFollow us on X (@unfiltered_gh), LinkedIn, Instagram, and TikTok.
If your business feels heavier than it used to, if you're looking at your calendar with zero excitement, or even feeling a little resentful toward work you used to love, this episode is going to hit home. In this episode of The Real Truth About Business podcast, I'm breaking down why what you think is burnout might actually be boredom and what that means for your business strategy and revenue growth. This is for service-based entrepreneurs in that 3–5 year range who are sitting in a revenue plateau, doing work that “works” but no longer feels aligned. After 9 years of experience, I can tell you this is a normal phase of business growth. Inside this episode, I walk you through how to identify what's actually going on, how it impacts your pricing strategy, pipeline, and sales process, and what to do next so your business evolves with you. What You'll Learn:The difference between burnout, boredom, and misalignment in your businessWhy outgrowing your business model is a natural part of revenue growthHow staying in outdated strategies impacts your pipeline and sales processWhat signs to look for when your offers are no longer alignedHow to audit your business for energy and profitabilityWhy evolving your business strategy improves long-term growthEpisode Highlights:[00:00] Introduction: Why this isn't burnout, it's boredom[03:00] The moment things feel “fine” but not exciting anymore[06:00] How outgrowing your business model shows up[10:00] The guilt of wanting something different[14:00] Real example: evolving offers and letting go of what worked[18:00] Common thoughts keeping you stuck in boredom[22:00] Why old strategies won't support new levels of growth[25:00] Simple ways to evolve without burning everything downKey Takeaways:Boredom Is a Sign You've Outgrown Your BusinessHere's what I see constantly. Business owners assuming they're burned out when really, they're just bored. After 9 years of working with service-based entrepreneurs, I can tell you this is one of the most common phases of business growth. You've outgrown the version of your business that you're still trying to run.And that creates friction.Because now you're operating at a higher level, but your business strategy hasn't caught up yet. That disconnect is what makes everything feel heavier than it should.Staying in What “Works” Is What Keeps You StuckThis is where most people get trapped. The offer is selling. The clients are coming in. The revenue is there. But you're not lit up anymore. So you stay because it feels responsible. Because it's predictable. Because it's working. But inside the Focused Visionary Framework, this is where misalignment starts impacting all three pillars. Your Pricing feels off, your Pipeline slows down, and your Sales process loses energy.Because you're no longer fully behind what you're selling. You Don't Need to Burn It DownThis is the biggest misconception. When you realize something isn't aligned, it feels like you have to blow everything up and start over. You don't.Most of the time, small shifts create massive change:Changing how you deliver an offerAdjusting your client typeShifting your marketing strategyMoving from calls to asynchronous supportThese are strategic adjustments, not complete overhauls. And they're what allow your business to evolve without losing momentum. Not All Revenue Is Worth KeepingJust because something is bringing in revenue doesn't mean it should stay.If an offer is:Draining your energyKeeping you stuckPreventing growthIt's costing you more than it's making you. This ties directly back to profit. Revenue without alignment leads to stagnation, not business growth. And eventually, that stagnation turns into actual burnout.Growth Requires Letting GoThis is the hard truth. As you evolve, not everything gets to come with you. Some clients won't continue. Some offers won't fit anymore. Some strategies will stop working. And that's not failure. That's growth.Your business strategy has to evolve at the same pace that you do, or it will always feel like you're operating in the past.Awareness Is What Moves You ForwardYou don't need to guess what's wrong.Start here:What feels draining? What feels energizing? What's profitable vs. just familiar? When you look at your business through that lens, the answers become clear. From there, you make intentional changes that support both your energy and your revenue growth.Because the goal isn't just to have a business that works. It's to have one that actually fits who you are now.Resources MentionedSubscribe to Back Pocket Insights for FREEBook a CEO Strategy Call Learn more about The Missing Piece IntensiveLearn more about The Focused Visionary AcceleratorDownload the FREE Lead and Conversion TrackerSubscribe to the Sunday Morning Brew NewsletterAbout the Host:Michelle DeNio is a business strategist based in Sarasota, Florida, specializing in helping service-based entrepreneurs break through revenue plateaus using her Focused Visionary Framework. Why is it that the harder you push for change, the more your teen seems to dig in their heels? If you've ever found yourself repeating the same conversations, giving advice that goes nowhere, or feeling exhausted by your teen's resistance, you're not alone. Most parents assume that if their child would just understand the consequences of their choices, they'd make better decisions. But change rarely works that way.In this episode, I sit down with therapist Jarrod Hoffman to explore what motivational interviewing can teach parents about helping teens change behavior. We unpack why lectures, advice, and persuasion often backfire, and why empathy, curiosity, and connection are far more powerful tools for creating lasting change.Jarrod introduces the stages of change framework and explains how understanding where your teen is in the change process can completely transform the way you communicate with them. Instead of trying to force change before they're ready, you'll learn how to meet them where they are and create the kind of conversations that actually help them move forward. Most importantly, we discuss why your relationship with your teen cannot be based on whether they change, and why investing in connection may be the most effective way to support growth over the long term.In this episode on helping teens change behavior, we discuss:Why parents often become counterproductive when trying to help their teen changeThe stages of change and how to recognize where your teen is in the processWhat pre-contemplation, contemplation, preparation, action, and maintenance look like in real lifeWhy advice, lectures, and persuasion often create more resistanceHow motivational interviewing can help parents support change more effectivelyThe difference between self-serving questions and curiosity-driven conversationsWhy empathy is often more powerful than informationPractical phrases parents can use to create connection instead of defensivenessHow to reduce power struggles and improve healthy communication with your teenLooking for support?
Send us Fan MailYou know that feeling where you did something wrong and instead of fixing it, you just... keep feeling bad about it? Like feeling bad is the apology, the penance, and the plan all rolled into one? Yeah. That's not guilt doing its job. That's guilt overstaying its welcome, and there's a difference. In this episode, Sami and Angela get real about guilt: what it's actually for, what it looks like when it goes sideways, and how to tell the difference between guilt that's moving you toward repair and guilt that's just becoming your whole personality. They dig into mom guilt, survivor guilt, the guilt you pick up on behalf of other people for things you had nothing to do with, and the sneaky habit of dumping your guilt on the very person you wronged and asking them to make you feel better about it. In this episode, we dig into:Why guilt is only useful if it's pushing you to do somethingThe difference between guilt (I did something wrong) and shame (I am something wrong)How to offer a real repair without making the other person comfort you in the processWhat to do with guilt when the relationship can't be repairedHow to feel your feelings fully without turning them into everyone else's burdenSami shares why she rarely experiences mom guilt and what Angela modeled that made that possible. Angela gets honest about her own anxious attachment history, the time she raged at her husband over a text message misunderstanding, and the friend with a hard medical diagnosis who taught her something important about allowing someone to offer a sincere apology. These are real stories, not tidy examples. The takeaway from this one is simple but not easy: guilt is an emotion, which means it's designed to move you. When it motivates repair, it's working. When it just sits there and collects weight, it's a drain on you and everyone around you. You don't have to be perfect. You do have to be willing to do something about it.Press play. Designers don't like it when players criticise their board game, and the response often is that the game was intentionally designed that way. Players complain that a strategy feels unfair, a mechanism is frustrating, or a game simply isn't very clear. Designers reply that that just misses the point. Similar disagreements exist in films, novels, and art, yet board games seem to have them more often, and they are often more personal. Part of the reason may be that board games are not passive experiences. Players are not simply watching events unfold, but instead are interpreting rules and shaping the experience themselves every time the game hits the table.Read the full article here: https://tabletopgamesblog.com/2026/05/26/intentional-experience-designer-intent-and-player-experience-topic-discussion/Useful LinksDune review: https://tabletopgamesblog.com/2020/02/08/dune-saturday-review/BGG article The Design Process by Gerry Paquette: https://boardgamegeek.com/blog/550/blogpost/2529/the-design-processWhat is Player Experience?: https://bg-px.com/what-is-player-experience/UX in board game design by Jason Kogan: https://uxdesign.cc/ux-in-board-game-design-97bfcdb1d581Perception vs Reality in Game Design by Joseph Z Chen: https://fantastic-factories.medium.com/perception-vs-reality-in-game-design-67181c0e6b0eMusicIntro Music: Bomber (Sting) by Riot (https://www.youtube.com/audiolibrary/)Music: "Inspirational Flight", "Documentary Soundtrack" and "Success" by AShamaluevMusic.Website: https://www.ashamaluevmusic.comSupportIf you want to support this podcast financially, please check out the links below:Ko-Fi: https://ko-fi.com/TabletopGamesBlogPatreon: https://www.patreon.com/tabletopgamesblogWebsite: https://tabletopgamesblog.com/support/(Photo by Daman IAm on Unsplash)

Dilapidations are one of the most misunderstood parts of commercial property — but they play a critical role in protecting the value of your asset. They're not just about repairs. They're about ensuring a property is returned in the condition agreed in the lease. And if handled incorrectly, they can become time-consuming, expensive, and damaging to landlord-tenant relationships. What You'll LearnThe difference between interim and terminal dilapidationsWhat dilapidations actually are (and what they're not)How lease clauses dictate what a tenant is responsible forThe role of building surveyors and solicitors in the processWhat landlords are really trying to achieveHow tenants typically respond (and where issues arise)Why dilapidations can become a negotiation tool — not just a legal processDilapidations are not about making a property perfect. They're about returning it to a lettable, usable condition — typically a “white box” ready for the next tenant.Got a Question?Next week is the final episode — a Q&A.If there's anything you'd like me to cover, you can submit your question anonymously here: https://forms.gle/znWTFqF74xguaB21A

Schools aren't just content delivery systems, they're the places where belonging happens, and that matters more in the age of AI than it did before.Matthew Berkshire, Director of Curriculum and Instruction at Greenville Central School District in New York, built something unusual: a school improvement process that used AI to strengthen the human trust network, not replace it. When Greenville adopted the Agile Evolutionary Group platform, the Diagnostic revealed hidden patterns in pacing, intervention, and assessment that educators had felt but couldn't name. The real work started after, sitting together, reviewing insights against lived experience, and making decisions as a learning organization. In this conversation with Dr. Michael T. Conner, Berkshire walks through what intentional AI integration looks like: starting with people who already trust each other, designing conditions for learning rather than supervising instruction, and keeping professional judgment and collective efficacy at the center. He talks about pandemic lessons, how the AEG platform fit into an already-strong school improvement process, the challenge of keeping dynamic collaboration alive across 6-12 departmental alignment meetings, and why, even with AI, the educators make the final call. What You'll LearnHow to integrate AI tools without removing people from the processWhat the AC-Stage means for instructional leadershipWhy the Diagnostic is a beginning, not an endingHow to design conditions for learning across a whole districtThe difference between technology that supports and technology that replacesThis episode is essential listening for instructional leaders, superintendents, and anyone building the conditions for continuous improvement in a learning organization. And on that note, onward and upward.
Charles Myssy is a Shadow Alchemist, facilitator, and founder of Shadow Mastery Institute, an international organization guiding people through somatic shadow work, archetypal exploration, and inner child integration. In his work, he guides people into the parts of themselves they have long avoided, supporting them to move from unconscious pattern and protective armor into integrated, embodied wholeness. While many know Charles through his widely popular social media content and humor, few know the version of him from which all of it originated. The one who grew up in scarcity...Who watched his mother fight to keep it all together as the sole provider...Who took on the weight of the household as the sole masculine figure before he had any idea what that weight meant...The absence of a father whose acceptance and recognition he deeply craved...By the time he was old enough to understand the impact these experiences had on him, he'd already spent years building a version of himself designed to make sure it never happened again, leading to years of armoring, anger, of building himself into someone the world couldn't hurt again.Eventually, this led him down the journey of going back to reclaim that what got left behind. In our conversation together, we examine Charles's journey from the wounds of his past toward his own shadow integration, and what that process of reclamation truly demands of a man.At the center of this conversation is a question Charles and I have both lived from the inside out: what happens to the parts of us that were too painful to be seen? And what becomes possible when we finally stop running? In this conversation, Charles and I explore:Charles's personal journey of growing up without a father and how that shaped himHow unprocessed pain can show up in our lives, leading to sabotage in our relationshipsThe warrior archetype, what it is, its immature expression, and what it looks like when it finally maturesThe victim archetype, why it sits at the root of so many of our patterns, and how we can move past itWhy understanding your wounds is not the same as moving through an embodied healing processWhat genuine shadow integration actually requiresHow our relationships will always show us exactly what we haven't yet faced in ourselvesWhat it means to lead your inner world rather than be led by itI thoroughly enjoyed this conversation with Charles...What drew me to his work initially was how he used the medium of humor and entertainment to bring these truths to light. What I found underneath was a sincere, caring, and deeply committed man, and I hold deep respect for the path he has walked to bring this work into the world. This episode is for any man who has spent his whole life moving forward, yet never once looked back at what is driving him in the first place...—Connect with Alex Lehmann:

If you feel like people are finding you but not buying from you, this episode is going to connect a lot of dots. In this episode of The Real Truth About Business podcast, I'm sharing behind-the-scenes insights from my private Back Pocket Insights podcast, where I coach through real questions from service-based entrepreneurs navigating growth. This is for those of you sitting in a revenue plateau, doing the visibility work, but not seeing consistent conversions. After 9 years of experience, I can tell you this is rarely about needing more leads. It's about gaps in your business strategy, specifically inside your pipeline and sales process. In this episode, I break down what's actually changed in buyer behavior, why people aren't moving as quickly as they used to, and how overworking your leads can actually hurt your revenue growth. This is about building a smarter, more intentional pipeline that supports real business growth. What You'll Learn:The missing steps in your pipeline that are blocking conversionsWhy buyers no longer move from awareness to decision quicklyHow to strengthen your lead generation and nurturing processWhat “overwatering” looks like in your sales process and content strategyHow to balance follow-up with giving prospects space to decideWhy patience and timing are critical for sustainable revenue growthEpisode Highlights:[00:00] Introduction: Back Pocket Insights and coaching-style episodes[03:00] The trust economy and what's actually changed in buyer behavior[06:00] Pipeline breakdown: awareness, interest, consideration, decision[09:00] Missing pipeline stages and why leads aren't converting[13:00] The “overwatering” analogy and what it means in business[17:00] Over-following up, over-creating, and slowing down growth[20:00] Letting your pipeline work without forcing resultsKey Takeaways:Your Pipeline Is Missing Critical StepsHere's what I see constantly. Service-based entrepreneurs expecting people to go from discovering them straight to buying. And for a few years, that actually worked. During the COVID years, buyers were moving fast. Awareness to decision happened quickly. That's not the case anymore.Inside the Focused Visionary Framework, the Pipeline pillar is all about movement. Awareness, interest, consideration, decision. If you're missing those middle stages, your business strategy is incomplete. People need more touchpoints now. They need time to explore, understand, and evaluate before they buy.If your conversion rate is low, this is one of the first places I look. Not more leads. Better movement through your pipeline.More Isn't Always Better. Sometimes It's Too MuchThis is where the “overwatering” concept comes in.I see this all the time. Over-following up. Over-posting. Over-explaining offers. Constantly trying to push people to a decision. And what happens? People pull away.Desperation energy is real. And your audience can feel it.Your sales process needs space. Your leads need space. Your content needs time to actually work. When you overwater, you don't speed up growth. You suffocate it.Buyer Behavior Has Slowed Down. Your Strategy Needs to AdjustBuyers today are more intentional. They are consuming more content. They are watching longer. They are making more educated decisions. That means your lead generation and sales process need to support that behavior. More nurturing. More value. More opportunities for people to experience you before they buy.But that does not mean more pressure. It means better structure. Better sequencing. Better timing.Growth Requires Patience and Strategic RestraintThis is the part most people don't want to hear. You can't force growth. After 9 years, I've seen this pattern over and over. The businesses that scale are the ones that know when to take action and when to step back. When to follow up and when to let things breathe.Sometimes the best thing you can do for your business growth is nothing. Let the content work. Let the relationship build. Let the pipeline do its job. That's CEO-level thinking. Not reacting. Not forcing. But trusting the strategy you've built and giving it the space to actually perform.Resources MentionedBook a CEO Strategy Call Learn more about The Missing Piece IntensiveLearn more about The Focused Visionary AcceleratorJoin Back Pocket InsightsDownload the FREE Lead and Conversion TrackerSubscribe to the Sunday Morning Brew NewsletterAbout the Host:Michelle DeNio is a business strategist based in Sarasota, Florida, specializing in helping service-based entrepreneurs break through revenue plateaus using her Focused Visionary Framework. We dig into an OChem D, retakes across COVID, and the imposter syndrome that kept Chauncella from asking for help. A supportive advisor opened the door to evaluate ADHD, and during gap years Chauncella's psychometrist role made the patient impact feel undeniable. The MCAT became another turning point: inconsistent planning, test-day anxiety, and ultimately voiding the first attempt led to addressing mental health, receiving ADHD/anxiety diagnoses, and finally moving forward with clarity. Chauncella applied once to about 50 schools without prewriting secondaries, still earning seven interviews—many later in the cycle than expected—and learning to enjoy the process. The first acceptance brought complex “legacy” feelings, but subsequent offers and an in-state choice close to family brought confidence and fit. Now in pre-clinicals, Chauncella prioritizes balance—making time for the gym, therapy, and friends—to sustain the work. This conversation offers practical takeaways on asking for help, reframing setbacks, navigating timelines, and holding onto your why. What You'll Learn:- How to turn OChem setbacks and an MCAT void into momentum- Why addressing ADHD/anxiety can change your study and test strategy- Using gap years for clinical clarity and strengthening your application- Approaching interviews with calm, authenticity, and confidence- Choosing a school with fit, proximity, and finances in mind

Welcome to another episode of People in Transition. I'm your host, Bob Gerst.Today's conversation is especially relevant for anyone who appears successful on paper—but feels burned out, unsettled, or quietly questioning what's next.My guest is Mallory Byers. Mallory spent nearly a decade as a top-performing sales recruiter at Salesforce, where she helped highly driven professionals secure roles at the highest levels. She understood the hiring process inside and out—and by all external measures, she was thriving.Yet along the way, Mallory began to notice something that fundamentally changed the direction of her work. Even the most capable and accomplished people weren't stuck because they lacked strategy. They were stuck because deeper forces were at play: long-standing patterns, chronic nervous system overload, and a version of confidence built entirely on performance.Today, Mallory is a Career Breakthrough and Empowerment Coach who supports high achievers navigating career transitions, burnout, or layoffs. Her work goes far beyond résumés and interviews. She helps clients strengthen the person behind the strategy—by rebuilding self-trust, regulating the nervous system, and untangling subconscious patterns such as people-pleasing, perfectionism, and over-functioning.Through her signature one-on-one program, The Inner CEO, Mallory helps clients stop outsourcing their worth to job titles and start leading their careers with grounded authority. As she teaches, you are the CEO of your life and your career. If you're in a season of transition—or sensing that the next chapter of your career requires a different version of you—this conversation will resonate deeply.Topics We Discuss in This Episode Include:How tying your identity to your job impacts your career—and how to navigate that shiftWhat it means to operate from survival mode, and how people-pleasing reinforces itWhere imposter syndrome shows up and how it quietly influences decisionsThe connection between perfectionism, overthinking, freezing action, scarcity thinking, and a dysregulated nervous systemHow the inner critic drives overwork during a job search—and how to stay grounded without letting others dictate your directionWhy layoffs are such a disorienting experience, and why “staying in your lane” may not lead to fulfillment or successWhy you don't solve issues of the mind with the mind—how working with the body changes the job search processWhat it truly means to take ownership of your career and embody your “Inner CEO”This is a powerful and insightful episode, and there is so much to take away from Mallory's perspective. To learn more about Mallory Byers, connect with her on LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/coachmallorybyers/ https://www.linkedin.com/company/mallory-byers-coaching/Send a text
In this episode of the Free Radical Podcast, Swami Padmanabha is joined by Reverend Dr. Shaleen Kendrick—a mystic scholar, theologian, and minister to human evolution—whose work bridges ancient spiritual wisdom and contemporary neuroscience. Dr. Kendrick is the creator of the Neuro-Relational Integration (NRI) model, a framework for wholeness-making through mind-body-spirit integration. Drawing from neuro-theology, neuroscience, and lived spiritual practice, she explores how integration across our neural centers—mind (IQ), body (SQ), and spirit (RQ)—can transform reactive patterns into responsive wisdom and support conscious human evolution. Together, Swami Padmanabha and Dr. Kendrick engage in a rich, wide-ranging conversation touching on: The neurobiology of wholeness and shameJesus through a neuro-spiritual lensEvolution as an ongoing spiritual processWhat it means to be human in an age of technology and AISalvation as a lived, relational journey rather than a fixed endpoint This episode invites listeners to move from fragmentation to coherence, from survival to flourishing.
