Travel blogger Kashlee Kucheran is a minimalist. She sold 90% of her material belongings to travel the world, typically staying in one place for 5 to 6 months where she and her husband really settle in to the lifestyle, rhythm and culture. Kashlee thought Instagram was an important tool to promote her business and found herself comparing herself to others, feeling like she was not enough and spending hours to get the “perfect” photo instead of enjoying the experience in front of her. That's when she realized she needed to change her relationship to the popular platform.

It turns out he was missing profound connection to himself and others. We talk about how he transformed, birthed self-love and now lives each day of this beautiful life fully. Traci Blank is a hypnotherapist. First of all, all hypnosis is self-hypnosis — you can only go under hypnosis if you believe you can, you want to and you feel safe. Secondly, hypnotherapists believe that you are the expert in your own life. Their work is to help you access your own inner wisdom and to reprogram beliefs that are holding you back. Our subconscious beliefs create the world that we see — whether we realize it or not and whether we are aware of the beliefs or not! I am a total fan — this is a must listen!

@BeforeYouShoot is a movement to humanize the lives of Black men in America in this era of shooting unarmed men of color. We have all been socialized to view a man of color as a threat through repeated messages and images in the media. This film paints a fuller, more accurate picture of Black men as humans with lives and families, fears and hopes. Listening to Film Producer @mdsimmonsproductions made me think of @BreneBrown writing “People are hard to hate close up. Move in.” This is your invitation to move in closer.
Marianne Curtis is an amazing woman — attorney and athlete — incredibly inspiring and really self-aware. She is super motivated, goal oriented and offers so many practical tips for choosing a positive mindset and creating your life. I also think she's the happiest lawyer I've ever met. Today's show is an amazing conversation with Alix Lebec. Alix leads investor relations and marketing for WaterEquity, an outgrowth of water.org, the organization co-founded by Gary White and Matt Damon that has empowered 21 million people globally with access to safe water and sanitation. Water Equity puts capital to work to deliver universal access to safe water and sanitation. Alix recently closed WaterEquity's flagship $50 million Impact Investing Fund. In addition to her impressive professional career, Alix has a passion for dance, performance and creative expression. A self-described French social and cultural entrepreneur who grew up in South Korea and China, Alix went from working at the World Bank to the Clinton Global Initiative before taking on fundraising and investment relations for water and waterequity. Alix is so bright and inspiring and I have to say one of the most striking things to me was her clear expression of something I read about many years ago. I don't know if anyone has read the Celestine Prophecy by James Redfield. The 1st time I read it was over 20 years ago and it always stuck with me. The book reveals a series of insights about human evolution and the critical stage we are at currently in our evolution. One of the insights is about how our paths are really about discovering a truth that is a higher synthesis of what our parents believed and represent through their lives. Alix seems to have done this so beautifully in her life through her work and pursuit of personal passions.

What is Financial Peace? Does it mean having more money?? According to Corporate Finance expert and Financial Guru Carolina Rolim, no it does not mean having more money. You could have hundreds of dollars in your bank account or millions and not have financial peace. It all depends on your relationship with your money and whether you are in control of your financial situation, or if it is controlling you. Women already have all their eggs in utero, which means our genetic material was inside our maternal grandmother! I was shocked to learn that the fashion industry is one of the most polluting industries in the world, second only to oil. It takes more than 5,000 gallons of water to make a t-shirt and a pair of jeans!! The U.S. generates 25 BILLION LBS of textile waste each year, recycling very little of it. This waste can take up to 200 years to biodegrade in a landfill. Today @GabriellaSmith, Founder of @TheUpCycleProject shares her journey with sustainable fashion.
In today's episode, author @alan_philips and and I continue our conversation about his new book @ageofideas. We talk about failure, confidence, the power of the mind and embracing uncertainty. What does it look like to embrace the dichotomy of knowing you are being called to do something — like writing a book, starting a clothing line, opening your own restaurant, and yet, simultaneously having no idea how it will turn out! When we embrace uncertainty we give our inner creative potential an outlet to express itself, and to grow. Remember to rate, review and subscribe to the show on iTunes. Find us on IG and FB @thejoyfulhour_.
It's no secret that we are living in a time of disruption and rapid transformation. In his new book @ageofideas, @alan_philips asserts that our individual creativity is our last remaining sustainable competitive advantage — and that by unlocking our creative potential, we are on the path to personal fulfillment and professional achievement. The Age of Ideas was particularly striking to me as I look at how I view my son, what his place and purpose is in this world, along with my own.
