We all struggle with insecurities and feeling like we aren’t enough. But we serve a God who loves us regardless of how much we love ourselves. And He can still use us, even when we don’t feel equipped. Mike Weaver, lead singer of the Dove-Award winning group Big Daddy Weave, lived much of his life from a place of low self-esteem, always comparing himself to others and wishing he looked different. But he had a special and unexpected moment with God when he realized that God doesn’t just love him—He likes him, too. That realization helped Mike begin to appreciate himself and his own special gifts, refreshing his perspective and perception of God. Dr. James Merritt, pastor of Cross Pointe Church in Atlanta, knows that more than anything, our character counts, even more than what others might think about us. He shares how we can cultivate strong character, and why standing for what we believe in holds a greater reward than getting approval from someone else. However, worship would give me an opportunity to disappear and still do what I love.” - Mike Weaver “The way I thought other people were accepting me is how I was able to accept me. The way I thought other people were liking me is how I gave myself permission to like me.” - Mike Weaver "I was telling God this long list of things that I hated about myself, and then that still, small voice of the Holy Spirit interrupted: 'Michael, why don't you let Me tell you what I think about you for once?'" – Mike Weaver “Jesus came in and He bailed me out again. He did it again. He broke through for me. And He always is the hero of my story. And so I was just like, ‘God, how amazing that You can bring this [song] out of self-hatred. That's how great of a Redeemer You are.’” - Mike Weaver, on the success of his song, “Redeemed” “We have experienced Him in such incredible ways in that place of need, realizing, Jesus, we need You.” - Mike Weaver “When God looks at us, He's not looking at our mistakes. He is looking at what Jesus has done on our behalf and our identity. Our entire identity is rooted not in our imperfection, but the perfection of Jesus Christ applied to our life.” - Mike Weaver “At the end of the day, at the end of your life, character is everything.” - James Merritt “Character is not taught, it's caught. And the best teachers of character are parents.” - James Merritt “I think it all begins with saying, ‘You know what? Character is more important to me than my reputation. It really is the essence of who I am.’” - James Merritt “At the end of your life, it really won't matter what anybody thought about you. The only thing that will matter is what God knew about you.” - James Merritt ________________________ Enjoy watching these additional videos from Jesus Calling YouTube channel: Audio Playlist: https://bit.ly/2PrbuwH Video Playlist: https://bit.ly/2PsmEkJ What’s Good? Welcome back to Sandi's book of rooms! It's been a while, so Sandi thought it high-time to check-in and see how you're doing, and what a welcome sight that is as we find ourselves in lockdown part 2 of 2020. In this one-off episode, Sandi explores the date of 12th November, which happens to be the day that gave birth to the World Wide Web and changed our lives forever. We also learn who Pudge Heffelfinger was, that Emperors shouldn't be called 'Michael', and that blowing-up a whale is never a good idea. We also, as usual, will hear about some amazing women the history books have neglected to document - so thank heavens that Sandi has written her own almanac - inspired to do so by this very series. So sit back and relax once more in the warm glow ... you were missed. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
28AUG2013: With American, Polish, and Afghan Soldiers inside, Taliban fighters kicked off a deadly attack on FOB Ghazni. Initiating the fight with a massive car bomb at the gate, the insurgents opened fire from multiple directions with RPG, machine gun, and mortar fire into the base. Having opened a hole in the outer wall, ten Taliban fighters wearing suicide vests poured in, hoping to inflict as many casualties as possible. Hearing the blast, SSG Michael Ollis got moving. First checking on his men to ensure they were all alive and not wounded, he took off towards the sound of gunfire. In the process, he came across a Polish officer and a team of Special Forces Soldiers who had already killed eight of the attackers. Shortly thereafter, a ninth attacker was identified and killed, leaving only one remaining in the base. Just then, an insurgent wearing a suicide vest stepped out from behind a container, right next to Ollis and the Polish officer. Without hesitation, Ollis stepped in front of his Polish brother and engaged the fighter. As the vest detonated, Ollis was killed instantly but saved the Polish officer by shielding him from the blast. For his brave and selfless sacrifice, SSG Michael Ollis would be awarded the Distinguished Service Cross. And to add a beautiful ending to the tragic story, the Polish officer who's life Ollis saved, returned home and named his first son 'Michael'.

Michael Schenker has done it all musically. Through stints in UFO and Scorpions to his ambitious solo albums featuring four vocalists, he has refused to conform to conventional music structures and instead gone by what he feels is right at any given time.It is a mantra that has seen him reject an offer to play with Ozzy Osbourne and also become somewhat of a recluse in his middle years, but he back now with Revelation from the Michael Schenker Fest."In my middle years, I kind of withdrew from the spotlight," he detailed. "After Strangers in the Night with UFO, I decided to get out of the spotlight and find an unknown singer and completely get out of the machine. I felt I had to write hits and I was just a kid in the sandbox. I didn't expect these things and I didn't compete with anybody, I didn't really look for money or fame or success but all of a sudden but all of a sudden people were saying Michael Schenker is God and people were calling me from America in the early eighties saying 'Michael, they're all playing your guitar style' and I said 'what' (laughs). I was always shocked when I heard what I had created without even knowing. I was lucky to experience fame early in life so I got to make a decision if I wanted to stay in the game of fame or if I wanted to stay as an artist and experiment with music and focus more on life and what it is; who am I - I had no clue who I was - so that's what I did. That's why I wrote the song 'Into the Arena' which means from the battleground on to the school of life and I was experimenting with music and got everything out of my system. I refused Ozzy Osbourne - and he wouldn't have made any money if I hadn't have joined him (laughs) - I was in my experimental stage but those middle years were the most rewarding. Eventually, I dropped out completely of the machine. I went to Arizona and I was my own person for 15 years."In the full interview Michael opens up about his treatment at the hands of his former bands, details his life choices both personally and musically, talks about Revelation, describes the meaning behind the artwork, having four vocalists in his band and more.

On the Jews and Their Lies by Martin Luther The Jews and Their Lies by Luther, Martin. Published by Liberty Bell Publications,2004, Binding: Paperback What shall we Christians do with this rejected and condemned people, the Jews? Since they live among us, we dare not tolerate their conduct, now that we are aware of their lying and reviling and blaspheming. If we do, we become sharers in their lies, cursing and blasphemy. Thus we cannot extinguish the unquenchable fire of divine wrath, of which the prophets speak, nor can we convert the Jews. With prayer and the fear of God we must practice a sharp mercy to see whether we might save at least a few from the glowing flames. We dare not avenge ourselves. The cinema occupies an important place in the overall development of art and literature. As such it is a powerful ideological weapon for the revolution and construction.
