Entrusting Your Life to Jesus - Matthew 17:14-27All Scripture is breathed out by God and is profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work. - 2 Tim. 3:16-17All the Scriptures were perfectly written between 1500 BC & 100 A.D. But the printing press wasn't created until A.D. 1455. That means every fragment and copy of the Bible was hand-copied before the printing press.Why we can fully trust that the Bible we have from copies is TRUE:Tens of thousands of copied manuscripts, unlike any ancient document.Remarkable consistency across 2 MILLION pages of biblical text.Understandable differences as copies were made over centuries.Earliest texts to help clarify what the original text said.In today's text we are going to see Jesus interact with people during some very frustrating moments in life. We will see Him exhort us all with words and deeds that show we can entrust our lives to Him.Matthew 17:14-27Disciples have to entrust family member's health to Jesus - V. 14-18Jesus' words in verse 17 seem harsh at first, but remember that He had just been up on the mountain and got to interact with ancient saints known for great faith and focused living for God. But now he's back with disciples caught up in unbelief and petty arguing.Mark 9:21-24 lets us know that Jesus can do anything we ask Him to do. We can approach Him with full confidence that if healing now is His will, it will happen. But if you struggle to believe that, use this father's words to voice your prayer to Jesus – “Lord I believe; help my unbelief.”Disciples have to entrust their frustrations to Jesus - V. 19-21When you are frustrated and ‘in the flesh' sin blocks you from focused prayers and successful ministry to others. You are blocked from trusting God and entrusting your situation to God.“If I regard iniquity (sin) in my heart, the Lord would not have listened.” - Ps. 66:18The key to faith is not the amount of it but the object of it. What confidence our faith in Jesus brings! If it is His will for the mountain of our circumstance to move, He will say ‘Yes' to our prayer. If He says ‘No' or ‘Wait,' we can be confident the no will be for a greater ‘Yes.'“Even a small amount of faith can move a mountain, assuming that the move is in God's will.” - David JeremiahDisciples have to entrust what distresses them to Jesus - V. 22-23Suffering and death are not the worst things that will happen to a believer – failure to live by faith in the midst of our circumstances is. Prosperous circumstances and things going our way often keep us from growing faith.Since therefore Christ suffered in the flesh, arm yourselves with the same way of thinking, for whoever has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin, so as to live for the rest of the time in the flesh no longer for human passions but for the will of God. - 1 Peter 4:1-2Disciples have to entrust their finances to Jesus - V. 24-27With all the travel and experiences Peter must have been physically and emotionally exhausted when he got home to Capernaum. And what does he encounter there? The tax man!This tax was the Temple tax going all the way back to Exodus 30. Men over 20 years of age were to pay this tax every year for the upkeep of God's house in Jerusalem.Knowing all things, including what Peter was feeling, verse 25 says Jesus spoke to him first. Jesus knew Peter needed encouragement in this time of distress, and He gave it to Peter. He knows you and I need it too!Jesus is saying He is the Son of God here. Prince's don't have to be taxes in their father's house. Since Jesus is the Son of God, He doesn't need to pay taxes to support His Father's house!A stader was worth 4 drachma, enough to pay off their tax bill and model good citizenship.

“The wicked borrow but do not pay back, but the righteous is generous and gives.” – Psalm 37:21When someone owes you money and doesn't repay it, emotions can run high—frustration, hurt, and even resentment. Whether it's a friend, family member, or fellow believer, unpaid debt can strain even the strongest relationships. So, how should we respond when repayment never comes? Let's explore that together.Start with CompassionIt's natural to assume the worst when someone avoids repaying a debt. But Scripture calls us to pause and lead with understanding.“Whoever is slow to anger has great understanding, but he who has a hasty temper exalts folly.” – Proverbs 14:29The person who owes you might be experiencing genuine hardship, such as job loss, medical emergencies, or family struggles. Begin by asking how they're doing. Show empathy. Offer flexibility, if possible, such as a revised payment plan. This can foster honest dialogue and reflect Christ's love in action.Before confronting the situation, pray. Ask God for wisdom, peace, and soft hearts on both sides. When you enter the conversation with prayerful humility, your response becomes a witness, not just a reaction.Follow Biblical Steps for ConflictIf the debtor is a fellow believer and continues to avoid the issue, Jesus outlines a redemptive process in Matthew 18:Speak privately to them.If unresolved, bring one or two others.If the issue remains unresolved, involve the church leadership.The goal isn't shame—it's restoration. Seek truth and preserve the relationship, creating a path forward instead of building a wall.Should Christians Ever Take Legal Action?In 1 Corinthians 6, Paul warns believers not to sue one another over civil matters, saying, “Why not rather be wronged?” Unity and love matter more than financial recovery. However, this doesn't mean legal action is never appropriate.If fraud, abuse, or serious legal injustice is involved, Romans 13 affirms that civil authorities exist to uphold justice. Seeking legal recourse in these situations may be necessary, especially if livelihoods are at stake. Just be sure your motivation is fairness, not revenge.The Bigger PictureRegardless of the outcome, Jesus commands us to forgive:“Whenever you stand praying, forgive, if you have anything against anyone…” – Mark 11:25Forgiveness doesn't ignore the debt—it chooses not to hold bitterness. Sometimes it leads to repentance; other times, it simply frees your heart.Unpaid debt is frustrating—but temporary. Relationships, witness, and Christlike character endure. Saul Tries to Kill David 19And Saul spoke to Jonathan his son and to all his servants, that they should kill David. But Jonathan, Saul's son, delighted much in David.2And Jonathan told David, Saul my father seeks to kill you. Therefore be on your guard in the morning. Stay in a secret place and hide yourself.3And I will go out and stand beside my father in the field where you are, and I will speak to my father about you. And if I learn anything I will tell you. 4And Jonathan spoke well of David to Saul his father and said to him, Let not the king sin against his servant David, because he has not sinned against you, and because his deeds have brought good to you. 5For he took his life in his hand and he struck down the Philistine, and the Lord worked a great salvation for all Israel. You saw it, and rejoiced. Why then will you sin against innocent blood by killing David without cause?6And Saul listened to the voice of Jonathan. Saul swore, As the Lord lives, he shall not be put to death. 7And Jonathan called David, and Jonathan reported to him all these things. And Jonathan brought David to Saul, and he was in his presence as before. 8And there was war again. And David went out and fought with the Philistines and struck them with a great blow, so that they fled before him.9Then a harmful spirit from the Lord came upon Saul, as he sat in his house with his spear in his hand. And David was playing the lyre. 10And Saul sought to pin David to the wall with the spear, but he eluded Saul, so that he struck the spear into the wall. But Michal, David's wife, told him, If you do not escape with your life tonight, tomorrow you will be killed. 12So Michal let David down through the window, and he fled away and escaped. 13Michal took an image[a] and laid it on the bed and put a pillow of goats' hair at its head and covered it with the clothes. 14And when Saul sent messengers to take David, she said, He is sick. 15Then Saul sent the messengers to see David, saying, Bring him up to me in the bed, that I may kill him.16And when the messengers came in, behold, the image was in the bed, with the pillow of goats' hair at its head. 17Saul said to Michal, Why have you deceived me thus and let my enemy go, so that he has escaped? And Michal answered Saul, He said to me, Let me go. Why should I kill you? 18Now David fled and escaped, and he came to Samuel at Ramah and told him all that Saul had done to him. And he and Samuel went and lived at Naioth. 19And it was told Saul, Behold, David is at Naioth in Ramah. 20Then Saul sent messengers to take David, and when they saw the company of the prophets prophesying, and Samuel standing as head over them, the Spirit of God came upon the messengers of Saul, and they also prophesied. 21When it was told Saul, he sent other messengers, and they also prophesied. Saturday of the Second Week in Ordinary Time - Being Misunderstood

Jesus came with his disciples into the house. Again the crowd gathered, making it impossible for them even to eat. When his relatives heard of this they set out to seize him, for they said, “He is out of his mind.” Mark 3:20–21When you consider the sufferings of Jesus, most likely your thoughts first turn to the crucifixion. From there, you may think about His scourging at the pillar, the carrying of the Cross and the other events that took place from the time of His arrest until His death. However, there were many other human sufferings that our Lord endured for our good and the good of all. The Gospel passage above presents us with one such experience.Though physical pain is quite undesirable, there are other sufferings that can be just as difficult to endure, if not more difficult. One such suffering is being misunderstood and treated by your own family as if you were out of your mind. In Jesus' case, it appears as if many of His extended family, not including His own mother of course, were quite vocally critical of Jesus. Perhaps they were jealous of Him and had some form of envy, or perhaps they were embarrassed by all the attention He was getting. Whatever the case may be, it's clear that Jesus' own relatives tried to prevent Him from ministering to the people who deeply longed to be with Him. Some of His extended family members made up the story that Jesus was “out of his mind” and sought to put an end to His popularity.Family life should be a community of love, but for some it becomes a source of sorrow and hurt. Why did Jesus allow Himself to endure this form of suffering? In part, to be able to relate with any and every suffering you endure as a result of your own family. Additionally, His endurance of it also redeemed this form of suffering, making it possible for your family hurt to share in that redemption and grace. Thus, when you turn to God in prayer with your family struggles, you will be consoled to know that the Second Person of the Most Holy Trinity, Jesus, the Eternal Son of God, understands your suffering from His own human experience. He knows the pain so many family members feel from first-hand experience. And He is able to look at every family suffering with the utmost compassion so as to give each person who asks the grace they need to not only endure that suffering but also to use it for good and for God's glory. Reflect, today, upon any way that you need to surrender some hurt within your own family over to God. Turn to our Lord Who fully understands your struggles and invite His powerful and compassionate presence into your life so that He can transform all that you endure into His grace and mercy. My compassionate Lord, You endured much in this world, including the rejection and ridicule of those in Your own family. I offer to You my own family and especially the hurt that has been present. Please come and redeem all family struggles and bring healing and hope to me and to all those who need it the most. Jesus, I trust in You. He was crippled from birth and had never walked. 9 He listened to Paul speaking. Matthew 12:18-21When our troubles or failures overwhelm us, or when our hearts grow faint, we might question God's love and goodness. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”” (John 16:32–33, ESV) Be of good cheer (θαρσειτε [tharseite]). Imperative active from θαρσος [tharsos], courage (Acts 28:15). A word for courage in the face of danger, only here in John, but see Matt. 9:2, 22; Mark 10:49. I have overcome the world (ἐγω, νενικηκα τον κοσμον [egō, nenikēka ton kosmon]). Perfect active indicative of νικαω [nikaō], to be victorious, to conquer. Always of spiritual victory in the N. T. See 1 John 5:4f. This majestic proclamation of victory over death may be compared with A.T. Robertson, Word Pictures in the New Testament (Nashville, TN: Broadman Press, 1933), Jn 16:33. “4Little children, you are from God and have overcome them, for he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.” (1 John 4:4, ESV) “4For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. Guests: Dr. Joe McFadden, Cornell University and Dr. Peri Rosenstein, Environmental Defense FundJoining together around the pub to discuss methane emission metrics are experts Dr. Joe McFadden and Dr. Peri Rosenstein. Dr. McFadden, an animal science professor at Cornell University, has focused much of his research and career on studying the interactions between nutrition, environment and animal food production. After discussing mitigating enteric methane emissions during the Real Science Lecture series, more than 600 people listened to the episode. In fact, Dr. McFadden's research in defending the dairy industry has been highlighted in both The Hill and Time magazines. Dr. McFadden began the conversation by mentioning he ultimately believes a percentage of total greenhouse gas emissions is methane. He went on to mention that reducing methane emissions does enhance production, and the industry should be in favor of the shift. 9:04While methane remains a major contributor to agricultural food production, livestock emissions from the glimpse of total greenhouse gas emissions remain relatively low, raising questions on where the focus of enteric methane mitigation should be. Progress is moving the needle from management, genetics, nutrition and enhanced efficiency. Dr. Rosenstein and Dr. McFadden's research focuses on South Asia, specifically India, as there are nearly 75 million small dairy farmers and about 300 million buffalo. Dr. McFadden shared that while the country produces around 20% of total global dairy production, it is also the highest producer of methane. 15:30Cattle are a source of national food security and are a way of life for many people, Dr. Rosenstein added, mentioning the goal is not to pivot completely but instead offer resources to optimize cattle productivity through nutrition, animal health and breeding. 20:22In addition to the Environmental Defense Fund studies in South Asia, Scott Sorrell, podcast host and director of global marketing for Balchem, asked about any other current research taking place. 22:03Just recently, Dr. McFadden said the plans and proposals for the additional construction at the Cornell University research facility were implemented. He added he believes the opportunity to pivot not only allows his team the position to test the next solutions that reduce enteric methane but to continue acquiring various green feeding units. 23:25Dr. McFadden then shifted the conversation to highlight the importance in studying feed duration through green feed study trials. Whether three weeks or three months long, he mentioned they offer a greater understanding when analyzing lactation, supplementation or even replacement strategies. 28:21When discussing strategies for enteric methane mitigation, Dr. Rosenstein mentioned they not only have to have proper feed additives but also be safe for both humans and animals alike. 32:31Wrapping up the conversation, Dr. McFadden summarized the urgency in being transparent on effective additives and encouraged feed manufacturing and feed additive companies to think about markets in new countries as an opportunity to collaborate and expand. 44:10Please subscribe and share with your industry friends to bring more people to join us around the Real Science Exchange virtual pub table. From there, you may think about His scourging at the pillar, the carrying of the Cross and the other events that took place from the time of His arrest until His death. However, there were many other human sufferings that our Lord endured for our good and the good of all. The Gospel passage above presents us with one such experience.Though physical pain is quite undesirable, there are other sufferings that can be just as difficult to endure, if not more difficult. One such suffering is being misunderstood and treated by your own family as if you were out of your mind. In Jesus' case, it appears as if many of His extended family, not including His own mother of course, were quite vocally critical of Jesus. Perhaps they were jealous of Him and had some form of envy, or perhaps they were embarrassed by all the attention He was getting. Whatever the case may be, it's clear that Jesus' own relatives tried to prevent Him from ministering to the people who deeply longed to be with Him. Some of His extended family members made up the story that Jesus was “out of his mind” and sought to put an end to His popularity.Family life should be a community of love, but for some it becomes a source of sorrow and hurt. Why did Jesus allow Himself to endure this form of suffering? In part, to be able to relate with any and every suffering you endure as a result of your own family. Additionally, His endurance of it also redeemed this form of suffering, making it possible for your family hurt to share in that redemption and grace. Thus, when you turn to God in prayer with your family struggles, you will be consoled to know that the Second Person of the Most Holy Trinity, Jesus, the Eternal Son of God, understands your suffering from His own human experience. He knows the pain so many family members feel from first-hand experience. And He is able to look at every family suffering with the utmost compassion so as to give each person who asks the grace they need to not only endure that suffering but also to use it for good and for God's glory.Reflect, today, upon any way that you need to surrender some hurt within your own family over to God. Turn to our Lord Who fully understands your struggles and invite His powerful and compassionate presence into your life so that He can transform all that you endure into His grace and mercy.My compassionate Lord, You endured much in this world, including the rejection and ridicule of those in Your own family. I offer to You my own family and especially the hurt that has been present. Please come and redeem all family struggles and bring healing and hope to me and to all those who need it the most. How long shall I put up with you? Bring the boy here to me.” 18 Jesus rebuked the demon, and it came out of the boy, and he was healed at that moment. 19 Then the disciples came to Jesus in private and asked, “Why couldn't we drive it out?” 20 He replied, “Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,' and it will move. That's the way He normally talks to the Pharisees and Sadducees.“Why couldn't we drive it out?” They knew that something wasn't right, so they wanted to see what was up. Jesus answers their question very simply by saying, “Because of your little faith.”They don't need more faith in terms of quantity (we'll learn in a minute that it only takes a little bit). They need more faith in terms of power!Verse 20 “For truly I tell you, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will tell this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,' and it will move. Jesus is the ultimate healer.Seek Him first and seek His healing as He desires to work. That healing will come in His time. You will be healed of everything in His time.Miraculous Jesus experiences require miraculous Jesus faith.The reason for powerlessness is prayerlessness (new word). The disciples who had been left in the valley had faced the challenge of casting out a demon and had failed miserably. This Sunday the church calendar recalls the Baptism of Jesus, by John, in the Jordan River. In the waters of baptism, Jesus is filled with the Spirit and affirmed by the Father. Baptism links Jesus to his heritage, his genealogy, his roots. His baptism marks the beginning of his earthly public ministry, framed by grief, disappointment, and temptation. Today's story sets the stage for the rest of Jesus' ministry, teaching, death, and resurrection. The story brought hope to an early church community racked by grief, loss, and uncertainty. And I believe today's word can help us see more clearly who Jesus is, who we are, and who we were created to be. We will start with a reading from the gospel of Luke, chapter 3, beginning at verse 15. Let me make a few comments about this passage, why it might have been important to Luke's first readers, and finally, why it matters to us today. I'll share a very personal and pivotal story about Brenda and me early on in our ministry, and then I will leave you with at least one very important job to do.Luke 3:15-22 (23-38)We start with Luke 3:15-22. John the Baptist is at the Jordan River, “preaching a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins.” He had made a name for himself, and the people recognized that something very powerful was going on. Luke 3:15 says that:15 The people were waiting expectantly and were all wondering in their hearts if John might possibly be the Messiah. 16 John answered them all, “I baptize you with water. But one who is more powerful than I will come, the straps of whose sandals I am not worthy to untie. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire. 17 His winnowing fork is in his hand to clear his threshing floor and to gather the wheat into his barn, but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.” 18 And with many other words John exhorted the people and proclaimed the good news to them.And then we are given a piece of the story that changes everything. John's ministry is to be short lived, Luke tells us:19 But when John rebuked Herod the tetrarch because of his marriage to Herodias, his brother's wife, and all the other evil things he had done, 20 Herod added this to them all: He locked John up in prison.Only after Luke tells us what is going to happen to John the Baptist does he then tell us about the Baptism of Jesus. Do you supposed that Herod had already dispatched his troops to the wilderness to arrest John? Was Jesus part of the last group to be baptized by John that day—maybe ever? Did John see the men coming to arrest him? Was Jesus aware that he would never see his cousin again?21When all the people were being baptized, Jesus was baptized too. And as he was praying, heaven was opened 22 and the Holy Spirit descended on him in bodily form like a dove. Therefore they will be your judges. 20But if it is by the finger of God that I cast out the demons, then the kingdom of God has come to you. 21When a strong man, fully armed, guards his castle, his property is safe. 22But when one stronger than he attacks him and overpowers him, he takes away his armor in which he trusted and divides his plunder. 23Whoever is not with me is against me, and whoever does not gather with me scatters. 24“When the unclean spirit has gone out of a person, it wanders through waterless regions looking for a resting place, but not finding any, it says, ‘I will return to my house from which I came.' 25When it comes, it finds it swept and put in order. 26Then it goes and brings seven other spirits more evil than itself, and they enter and live there; and the last state of that person is worse than the first.” Jesus' proclamation of the Kingdom is coupled with a strong call to metanoia. For the newness of the Kingdom demands a new way of thinking and being. This entails abandonment of old sinful habits and radical openness to God's new way of relating with his people through his Son Jesus. The capricious demand for signs and the attempt to discredit Jesus by attributing his exorcism to an alliance with Beelzebul are forms of passive-aggressive behavior by those who want to conveniently avoid the responsibility of heeding Jesus' powerful message. Contented with how things are, they resort to faulty logic to justify their resistance to change. But Jesus warns them that, by opposing him, who is the divine principle of unity, they align themselves with God's enemies and run the risk of dispersal. Lord Jesus, bind us in unity and strengthen us for the cosmic battle against ungodly forces that oppose God's reign. Amen.

The Power of an Overcoming Mindset (A mind that is geared to overcome.) “Your mind is a sacred enclosure into which nothing harmful can enter except by your permission.” By Pastor George Lehman 2 Corinthians 10: 3-5 (NIV) – 3For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. 4The weapons we fight with are not the weapons* of the world. On the contrary*, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. 5We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up *against the knowledge of God, and we *take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. (Not just for out there; but for our own minds and thoughts) * Weapons of anger; bitterness; unforgiveness; hate; revenge; spitefulness; grudges *The very opposite is true *It’s those inner thoughts we battle with *We must take our own minds captive first – It all starts in the thoughts. We all have battles and issues in our lives that we either want to overcome or are in the process of overcoming. I truly believe that there is a peace, resilience* and a consistency that comes with an overcoming mentality. (*sterk taai) As a child of God you can’t just daydream your way through life…. 1 Peter 5:8 (NIV) – Be self-controlled and alert. (Why) Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. You cannot drive your motorcycle and daydream – Road safety campaign slogan says: Stay Alert & Stay Alive. WE NEED TO BE ALERT. The devil can’t handle the word of God spoken in Faith – Jesus said to the devil, “It is written” and he left. At His weakest He was strong with the Word living in Him. You have to have your eyes fixed on the prize. Focused ahead on getting through whatever you’re facing. – Determined to finish strong An overcoming mindset will get you through. All overcoming stems from the joy and peace in believing that better things lie ahead of you. Your first obstacle you have to overcome and conquer is your own negativity it will destroy an overcoming mindset. Negativity about the world around you (Garbage in - garbage out) Negativity about the Lord and His promises Negativity that involves unbelief and doubt You need to wage this war first before overcoming any other battle. LIKE: Negativity, procrastination, doubt, fear, anxiety, anger, resentment, bitterness, and unbelief give the enemy so many tools and weapons to create havoc Isaiah 26:3 (NIV) – You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast, because he trusts in you. The person whose thoughts are consumed with God will have perfect peace – Instead of anxiety and worry. What are the benefits of God centered thinking? Philippians 4:1-7 talks about an overcoming mind. Philippians 4:8 (MSG) – 8-9 Summing it all up, friends, I’d say you’ll do best by filling your minds and meditating on things true, noble, reputable, authentic, compelling, gracious—the best, not the worst; the beautiful, not the ugly; things to praise, not things to curse. Put into practice what you learned from me, what you heard and saw and realized. Do that, and God, who makes everything work together, will work you into his most excellent harmonies. Noble – Good, Reputable: Respectable Compelling – Thrilling. Paul gives us the Keys to an Overcoming Mindset. Colossians 3:1-4 (NIV) – 1Since then you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. 2Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. 3For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. 4When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory. #1 An Overcoming Mindset is developed by focusing on our resurrected position. Ephesians 1:19-20 (Amp) – 19and [so that you will begin to know] what the immeasurable and unlimited and surpassing greatness of His [active, spiritual] power is in us who believe. These are in accordance with the working of His mighty strength. 20which He produced in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His own right hand in the heavenly places. Galatians 2:20 (Amp) – I have been crucified with Christ [that is, in Him I have shared His crucifixion]; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body I live by faith [by adhering to, relying on and completely trusting] in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me. You live the resurrected life that proves the cross was real and completed. #2 An Overcoming Mindset is developed by a life of continual discipline. Colossians 3:2 (NIV) – 2Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. Note: Set = It will take discipline. Paul says 1 Corinthians 9:27 (Amp) – 27 But [like a boxer] I strictly discipline my body and make it my slave, so that, after I have preached [the gospel] to others, I myself will not somehow be disqualified [as unfit for service]. Self-control – Alert – Takes discipline #3 An Overcoming Mindset is developed by focusing on our Hidden life in Christ. Colossians 3:3 (NIV) – 3For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. To be hidden in Christ means protection Psalm 32:7 (NIV) – You are my hiding place; you will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance. #4 An Overcoming Mindset is developed by focusing on our future in Christ. Colossians 3:4 (NIV) – 4When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory. They way you think about your future will affect how you live today. Philippians 3:20-21 (LB) – 20But our homeland is in heaven, where our Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ is; and we are looking forward to his return from there. 21When he comes back, he will take these dying bodies of ours and change them into glorious bodies like his own, using the same mighty power that he will use to conquer all else everywhere. 1 John 3:2-3 (LB) – 2Yes, dear friends, we are already God’s children, right now, and we can’t even imagine what it is going to be like later on. But we do know this, that when he comes, we will be like him, as a result of seeing him as he really is. 3And everyone who really believes this will try to stay pure because Christ is pure. Let us trust God to help us have an Overcoming Mindset. *********************************
