What motivates you to keep doing what God has called you to do? What compels you, especially when the journey is hard? 2 Timothy 4:1-8 is the apostle Paul's final charge to his young apprentice Timothy essentially saying, “Are you ready? Are you prepared? It's your turn now. Take the baton in your hand and keep running! Keep announcing the message about Jesus.” Paul knows he's going to die so he shares what feels like the combination of a last will and testament and an epic battle scene speech. The result is a motivational force like no other meant to inspire and empower every follower of Jesus.
Last week, we saw some eye-opening statistics showing that while many people call themselves Christian, very few actually hold to the core biblical beliefs that define a true Christian worldview. This Sunday, we're going to dig into what's at the heart of those beliefs—the very foundation of the Christian worldview: the Bible. If someone were to ask you, “Why do you base your whole life on the Bible?” or “Why do you trust it?” you might answer, “Because it's God's Word.” But what if they pressed further and asked, “How do you know that? What makes the Bible different from the Qur'an, the Hindu Vedas, or any other religious or philosophical writings in the world?” A Hindu would say the Vedas offer the correct picture of truth and reality, while a Muslim would disagree and point to the Qur'an as the accurate one. I think most believers would probably share their personal story or testimony as proof. But people of other faiths do the same with their own experiences. So just relying on your personal experience is not enough to prove your view of Scripture—especially in a culture that's skeptical about what the Bible says. Do you really have solid reasons to believe God has spoken through the Bible and that what it says is actually true? Why should you trust the Bible above everything else? You should be able to answer that. You should be able to say, “Here's why my life depends on this Book, and here's why yours should, too.” We'll help you with a number of specific reasons. We'll talk about how we can keep building our lives on God's truth instead of just going along with opinions or what's popular in our culture and we'll get practical about what it looks like to live out a true biblical worldview, “rightly handling the word of truth” (2 Timothy 2:15).

November 9th, 2025 | Speaker: Kyle Collins A bold reminder from Paul to Timothy, and to us to stay rooted in truth, resist comfortable distractions, keep preaching the gospel, and faithfully serve no matter the season.
We're in the last days. “You thought times were hard before, get ready because they're going to get even more difficult in the days ahead.” That's essentially how 2 Timothy 3 begins. It's a startling warning about the rise of false teachers, tricksters, imposters and people with ulterior motives who will lead many astray. It's held in stark contrast to the steadfast way of life followers of Jesus are called to in the midst of that corruption. Not only will truth prevail, but we've been equipped with exactly what we need to stand firm and teach others to do the same.
Week 1 of Legacy explores the legacy you were given. Using Paul's letter to Timothy, we see how faith passed down through others shapes us and how God's grace empowers us to leave a better legacy than what we were given.

The apostle Paul's warning to the early church (and us) is that we would have trouble with evil people and persecution as we live for the truth of the gospel. We are called to persevere in faith and rely on Scripture to stand firm! Just as Timothy followed Paul's excellent example, so are we to follow in their footsteps. Thanks for listening! When Paul writes about receiving “the crown of righteousness,” does he mean Jesus's righteousness given to us, or our lived-out righteousness in him?
In this episode Adam, Brett, and Jason continue a series studying Article 5 of the Formula of Concord by doing a Bible Study on 2 Timothy 2:11-19.
Endless debates, controversies and heresies have plagued the church for generations. Teachings that swerve away from the truth about Jesus continue to wreak havoc today. It's led to cynicism, resentment and to many abandoning the faith altogether. How should we respond? There's a temptation to allow fear, anger, the desire to win an argument or gain the approval of others to drive us, but 2 Timothy 2:14-26 presents another way. It's an appeal to followers of Jesus to hold out what is true without any shame and stand against what is false with a disarming kindness.
As Paul approaches the end of his life, he knows he has lived like an athlete who wrestles and runs to win the prize. But what is the good fight?
From conversion through suffering to death, Paul considered his life a resource to be spent for the faith of God's elect.
