Solo show today — breaking down every series from the weekend, west to east, AL then NL, and I had to sit here and recap one of the ugliest innings in A's history while also telling you my little league A's got wrecked by the parents in the end-of-season game. It was a full weekend. The real A's gave up 13 runs in the third inning Sunday. Yankees sent 18 batters up, batted through the order twice, Ben Rice hit a double AND a triple in the same inning, and my guys threw three pitchers at it and still couldn't stop the bleeding. They came back with eight runs and still lost by five. Severino got lit up Friday and is now headed to the IL with a right shoulder strain. The defense is a mess without Jacob Wilson. JT Ginn was filthy on Saturday and the offense actually showed up — Langeliers, Kurtz, and Soderstrom all going deep — but it didn't last. A's drop to 28-31 and the pitching staff is a dumpster fire right now. Tigers got walked off by Miguel Vargas in the tenth on Friday after Troy Melton threw seven innings of one-run ball. Seven innings. One run. Didn't matter. Saturday the White Sox put three homers on them — on Quero's bobblehead day, of course — and Sunday Colson Montgomery ties it in the seventh and Tristan Peters drives in the winner. White Sox sweep. Tigers are 6-21 in May. It is not good. The Rockies had one of the best nights of the year on Friday. Giants up 6-3 in the ninth, Goodman hits a 414-foot three-run shot to tie it, and then Tovar walks it off with his SECOND homer of the game. Saturday, Feltner comes back from injury and throws six shutout innings. Then the Giants show up Sunday and drop 19 on them. That's Coors. That's always Coors. Still take the series two to one. Beyond my teams: Yamamoto struck out 10 and held Philly hitless through three. Wrobleski went seven innings, one hit, nine K on Friday — one of the best starts of the weekend anywhere. Acuna hit four homers in his last five games and is making his case for best player in baseball again. The Orioles came back from 5-1 in the bottom of the ninth with eight straight guys reaching and Pete Alonso walking it off. Misiorowski retired the last 17 Astros in order in a 2-0 shutout. Carson Benge leadoff homer, Juan Soto grand slam, Mets sweep the Marlins. Pirates swept the Twins. Mariners swept the D-backs. Rangers swept the Royals. Full standings breakdown and a look at today's slate to close it out.
I am flying solo today as Jake is live at Comerica Park for Tigers-Guardians Game 2. Full rundown of Wednesday's 15-game MLB slate:
What does it take to bring world-class connectivity to the billions of people and businesses that have never had reliable access? Tom Soderstrom, AWS Executive in Residence, and Chris Weber, VP of Business at Amazon Leo, share how Amazon Leo (formerly known as Project Kuiper) is building toward that vision one launch at a time, with over 200 satellites in orbit since this conversation took place in December 2025.Soderstrom and Weber discuss what sets Amazon Leo apart, from gigabit downlink speeds and private connectivity that never touches the public internet, to a customer-obsessed approach to service, support, and partnerships. This episode offers a compelling look at the technology, partnerships, and customer obsession driving Amazon Leo forward, and the global impact it stands to make along the way.

Episode 126 of Tablesetters breaks down a stretch of offseason moves that didn't rely on shock value, but clearly revealed how several teams are positioning themselves for 2026. We open with Tatsuya Imai nearing the end of his MLB posting window with a January 2 deadline and, by his own admission, far less clarity than expected. Despite an elite résumé in Japan and interest from multiple clubs, firm offers have yet to materialize. We examine why interest hasn't translated into action, which teams remain involved, the importance of family and contract structure in his decision, and what it means if Imai ultimately returns to Seibu. From there, we move to Baltimore, where the Orioles re-sign Zach Eflin on a one-year deal. We break down what Eflin realistically provides coming off an injury-filled season, where he fits alongside Kyle Bradish, Trevor Rogers, and Shane Baz, and why this move stabilizes the rotation without removing the Orioles from the frontline starter market. The Athletics make their clearest long-term statement by locking up Tyler Soderstrom. We dig into how his extension reshapes the lineup, why his move to left field mattered after Nick Kurtz's arrival, and how a core featuring Soderstrom, Brent Rooker, Lawrence Butler, Shea Langeliers, Jacob Wilson, and Jeff McNeil gives the A's one of the deeper young offenses in the league as they build toward Las Vegas. Cincinnati's pivot away from the Luis Robert trade market brings the bullpen into focus. We break down the additions of JJ Bleday and Dane Myers, the pitching depth lost along the way, and why the Reds' roster decisions align with Nick Krall's stated priority of fixing a relief group that quietly became one of the team's biggest concerns. We close the Meat of the Order in Pittsburgh, where the Pirates sign Ryan O'Hearn to the largest free-agent position-player deal in franchise history. We discuss why O'Hearn fits PNC Park, how he complements Spencer Horwitz and Brandon Lowe, and why Pittsburgh's recent aggression has created legitimate momentum — including growing buzz around Kazuma Okamoto. Steve and Devin connect the dots across international markets, roster math, and team-building philosophy, focusing less on headlines and more on what these moves tell us about how clubs believe games will be won next season. ⚾️ Deadlines approaching, cores taking shape, and priorities becoming clear.
Chris Townsend & A's Manager Mark Kotsay discuss: The teams improvement in 2025 Luis Morales' development and becoming a front line starter Jeffrey Springs making 30 starts Kurtz & Wilson's rookie seasons Consistency from Soderstrom & Rooker Lawrence Butler winning the Dave Stewart Award Shea Langeliers' growth and breakout season The work done by the coaching staff in 2025 Learn more about your ad choices. Dive into the "AI multiverse" with AWS Executives in Residence Jake Burns and Tom Soderstrom as they explore why some organizations are seeing massive productivity gains with agentic AI while others struggle to see value. Drawing from their extensive enterprise experience, they reveal how treating AI agents like human team members - with clear specifications, iterative feedback, and proper context - can unlock unprecedented productivity gains that far exceed the reported 30% improvements. Burns and Soderstrom share practical insights on creating a culture of experimentation, emphasizing why traditional ROI metrics may hinder innovation and why "return on attention" could be a better early indicator of success. From leveraging multi-agent systems to democratizing AI adoption through "centers of engagement," this episode offers essential guidance for leaders seeking to position their organizations on the right side of AI transformation. Don't miss these actionable strategies for winning in the age of agentic AI!
In this Summer Coolers edition of NHL Wraparound, hosts Neil Smith and Vic Morren take a hard look at the Boston Bruins, a team that has fallen dramatically from its historic high just two seasons ago. After missing the playoffs for the first time since 2016, the Bruins are in unfamiliar territory. With major roster departures and minimal offseason improvements, David Pastrnak may find himself carrying more than just the offensive load—he may be carrying the entire franchise.Neil and Vic analyze GM Don Sweeney's offseason acquisitions, including Victor Arvidsson, Tanner Jeannot, Jordan Harris, Mikey Eyssimont, and the return of Sean Kuraly, as well as re-signings like Morgan Geekie and Charlie McAvoy's hopeful bounce back. The consensus? Grit and toughness are there—but goal-scoring depth is not.The episode also examines the transition to new head coach Marco Sturm, the impact of last year's decision to fire Jim Montgomery, and the enormous pressure on Jeremy Swayman to carry this team in low-scoring, defense-heavy games.IN THIS EPISODE:[00:00] Boston Bruins: What happened and where are they now?[00:38] From historic highs to missing the playoffs[01:00] Offseason acquisitions: Soderstrom, Arvidsson, Jeannot, Eyssimont, Harris[02:00] The fallout of the Patrick Laine trade[02:48] Reviewing re-signings: Geekie, Zacha, McAvoy, Lohrei[03:43] Can James Hagens crack the lineup?[04:00] Marco Sturm takes over as head coach[04:32] Jeremy Swayman must shine in net[05:00] Jim Montgomery's bounce back with the Blues[05:32] The Bruins' identity: Tough, but can they score?[06:00] Charlie McAvoy, Hampus Lindholm & Nikita Zadorov must lead the blue lineKEY TAKEAWAYS:David Pastrnak is the lone offensive constant, and without stronger support, the Bruins may struggle to generate goals.Jeremy Swayman must deliver a breakout season, as Boston will rely on tight, low-scoring games to stay competitive.Don Sweeney's offseason moves focus more on toughness than skill—Jeannot, Eyssimont, and others bring grit, but little proven offense. With Marco Sturm in his first NHL head coaching role, leadership and locker room chemistry will be tested early.Defensemen like McAvoy, Zadorov, and Lindholm must step up for Boston to have any hope of a playoff rebound.RESOURCE LINKS:YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgBj1LV0-DMfBhcRPSJZLjAX: https://twitter.com/NHLWraparoundNeil Smith: https://twitter.com/NYCNeilVic Morren: https://www.linkedin.com/in/vic-morren-7038737/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/nhlwraparound/TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@nhlwraparoundFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61555451139787#NHL #Hockey #Podcast #DavidPastrnak #BradMarchand #PatriceBergeron #DavidKrejci #DonSweeney #VictorSoderstrom #ViktorArvidsson #TannerJeannot #MikeyEyssimont #JordanHarris #AlexSteeves #SeanKuraly #MorganGeekie #PatrikLaine #DonWaddell #PavelZacha #MasonLohrei #HenruJokiharhu #JohnBeecher #RileyTufte #JamesHagens #MarcoSturm #JeremySwayman #JimMontgomery #CharlieMcAvoy #HampusLindholm #NikitaZadorov #JoeSacco
The next generation of agricultural leaders took center stage on the AgNet News Hour as Florida FFA state officers shared their stories and their passion for farming. Speaking at the Citrus Specialty Crop Expo in Tampa, Hope Storter (State President), Lyla Bent (Area V Vice President), and Isabel Jenkins (State Secretary) described how FFA has shaped their futures and why the organization continues to be a powerful force for youth development. For Storter, FFA has been a life-changing journey rooted in family. Watching her brother, who was diagnosed with autism, thrive in the program sparked her own passion for agriculture. “Ever since I watched my older brother show a pig at our county fair, I knew FFA was my jam,” she said, noting her plans to pursue a career in agricultural law. Lyla, coming from northern Florida where citrus is less common, said the Expo opened her eyes to new aspects of the industry, while Jenkins emphasized how her mother—an ag teacher—encouraged her to give FFA a try. “I absolutely fell in love with the diversity of agriculture,” Jenkins said, highlighting how FFA unites students from aquaculture to forestry under one mission: supporting the world through farming. Host Nick Papagni noted that employers should take notice: “If FFA is on a resume, hire them immediately. These are the greatest people I've ever met.” The officers not only impressed with their professionalism but also with their leadership in running the Expo itself, from ticketing to hospitality. The episode also featured a dairy spotlight with Dr. Jill Soderstrom of Purina Animal Nutrition, who discussed gut health technologies for young calves. She explained how probiotics and prebiotics play a critical role in supporting calves through stress and immune development. “Every calf has room to benefit from these technologies,” Soderstrom explained, emphasizing that strong early-life nutrition impacts lifetime performance. Together, these conversations highlighted the dual focus of the AgNet News Hour: elevating the voices of tomorrow's agricultural leaders while also delivering insights farmers can use today. Catch the full interview with the Florida FFA officers and Dr. Soderstrom:
Friend of the network Pam Jahnke, Mid-West Farm Report, visits with Dr. Jill Soderstrom of Purina Dairy in the third episode of the Purina Dairy Podcast.
At birth, a calf's rumen is underdeveloped or naive, and it relies on the abomasum for digestion. As the calf grows, the rumen develops, and its capacity increases. Making sure that rumen functions properly and provides that calf with correct immune functions is a major focus at Purina. Dr. Jill Soderstrom is the dairy young animal solutions specialist for Purina Animal Nutrition. Her focus is helping dairy operations select and coordinate prebiotics, probiotics, enzymes and all other technologies available for a healthy calf from the inside out. Just like farms, no two calves are the same. Dr. Soderstrom explains that creating the correct balance in that calves gut is like mustering troops for war. Sometimes you don't need all the weapons, but when calves come under stress - you do! See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Welcome to Episode 76 of Tablesetters! Devin and Steve are back at the mics to bring you everything happening across the baseball landscape — from monster contracts and rising stars to organizational missteps and real-life tragedy. We begin with Vladimir Guerrero Jr.'s jaw-dropping 14-year, $500 million extension — the third-largest contract in MLB history — and discuss what it means not just for the Blue Jays, but for a league that's fully leaning into early-career investments. With extensions this past week for Garrett Crochet, Ketel Marte, Jackson Merrill, Cal Raleigh, and Kristian Campbell, it's clear that locking in young stars is the model. Which leads us to a central question: Will the Orioles follow suit? With talent like Gunnar Henderson, Adley Rutschman, and Jackson Holliday blossoming, it's time for Baltimore to decide whether it wants to ride the wave — or get caught chasing it later. Next up, we pivot to injuries shaping the early season. Key arms and contributors are already shelved, including Blake Snell, Spencer Arrighetti, Zach Eflin, Reynaldo López, and Victor Robles. We assess the impact of those absences and who might rise to fill the void. From there, we spotlight the scorching start of Sacramento's Tyler Soderstrom, who's tied with Aaron Judge atop the MLB home run leaderboard. His success is forcing a conversation about top prospect Nick Kurtz, who's dominating Triple-A. The Athletics may have a good problem on their hands — but one that demands a creative solution soon. We also cover two sobering off-the-field stories. First, the resignation of Tigers Assistant GM Sam Menzin following serious allegations of misconduct — a reminder of the cultural accountability still needed in front offices. And second, the devastating nightclub collapse in Santo Domingo, which claimed 66 lives, including beloved figures from both music and baseball: Octavio Dotel, Tony Blanco, Rubby Pérez, and Nelsy Cruz. In one of the week's most powerful and human moments, Jarren Duran opened up about a suicide attempt he survived during a dark period in his career. His story, shared in a Netflix docuseries, is raw, courageous, and a vital reminder of the mental health challenges facing athletes today. And we close out with a look at Chase Dollander's MLB debut — 5 innings, 6 strikeouts, and his first career win — and Zac Veen's red-hot start in Triple-A. Colorado might not contend this year, but the future is taking shape. Plus, we take a few quick swings in Take a Pitch/Swing Away — including jersey etiquette at games, Kyle Tucker's potential contract value, and whether Mets players should be publicly name-dropping Sandy Alcantara. All that and more in this week's episode. Follow us on Instagram and Twitter @TablesettersPod, subscribe wherever you listen, and keep the conversation going — we're just getting warmed up.
A's General Manager David Forst discusses the culture change in the organization, the young core and recent contract extensions, his keys for spring training, first base options and the plans for Soderstrom, Brent Rooker heading back to the outfield and the pitch depth in the organization.
