In this episode of the Faith and Activism series, Abeer has a conversation with Rev. Amy Graham about the transformative power of faith in driving justice and activism. They discuss Amy's journey from West Virginia to co-founding The District Church in Washington, DC, and how her experiences in social work, pastoral ministry, and advocacy have shaped her understanding of the Gospel's call to action. The conversation also highlights the role of faith communities in healing and advocacy, particularly in the context of Palestine, and the Church's role in supporting justice and liberation for oppressed communities. In their extended conversation for our Patreon supporters, Abeer and Rev. Amy Graham discuss the unique challenges faced by women in leadership roles within faith-based spaces. Amy offers advice on navigating the balance between pastoral leadership, activism, and personal growth, while fostering courage and perseverance in the face of doubt and fatigue. After receiving her Masters in Theological Studies from Golden Gate Seminary and her Masters in Social Work from Boston University, Amy has devoted her life to bringing the love and peace of Christ to desperate and dark places. She has worked as a pastor, counselor, social worker, and advocate for those in bondage to sin and those affected by the injustices of our world. From her trips leading groups to Israel/Palestine, the relationships that she has built, and the partnerships The District Church holds with those in the Holy Land, Amy has felt a particular call and burden to speak the truth in love on behalf of those suffering as a result of the genocide of the Palestinian people. Through her role as pastor, she has sought to support, encourage, and empower the voices of those living in the land.Follow Across the Divide on YouTube and Instagram ‪@AcrosstheDividePodcast‬Across the Divide partners with Peace Catalyst International to amplify the pursuit of peace and explore the vital intersection of Christian faith and social justice in Palestine-Israel.Show Notes:https://districtchurch.org/

Nearly 8 months after October 7, what message do the Palestinians and Israelis living in the land have for those of us watching from the US?A group of about a dozen faith leaders traveled with Telos last week to meet with our partners on the ground—to mourn with them, to stand in solidarity and compassion with them, and to return with fresh courage to embrace the work of peacemaking and bring their message back to us.In today's episode, we hear from two of the participants on that trip, Todd Deatherage and Amy Graham, Pastor of Spiritual Care at The District Church in Washington, D.C. They share what they saw and heard, how they're carrying it with them, and what we need to know about how best to support an end to the atrocities ongoing today. We need the new imagination they're offering us in this episode if we are to do the work of peace in our neighborhoods, and in our nation, in this critical moment. Lean in and imagine with them. --Leave a rating and review on Apple podcasts or SpotifyIf you're enjoying the podcast, become a monthly donor to Telos!Subscribe to the Telos NewsletterRead and share the Principles and Practices of Peacemaking

What seemed to have begun in hockey with Graham James in terms of awareness of abuse and sexual violence has certainly not ended there. Sexual violence is ever-present, as we know from high profile cases, but has also been even more horrifying in the realm of sport. Two university hockey players, Amy Graham and Patti-Anne Tracey, are attempting to make discussions, awareness, and prevention more mainstream through a unique web site and series of lessons. In this podcast, they describe what they learned and how they're going about it. Their site is: https://x2017tet.wixsite.com/teaminsvp

Aaron and Amy Graham have been planting churches and reaching cities for nearly two decades. After planting in Boston, they moved to Washington, DC to plant District Church -- a church with a commitment to doing justice in the nation's capital. District Church is remarkably diverse, with 74 nations and 49 states represented in its congregation. Aaron has been named one of Washingtonian Magazine's 40 under 40. Aaron and his wife Amy are both pastors as well as adoption and foster care advocates. They founded DC127 with the mission to unite churches to reverse the foster care wait list in DC. They live in Columbia Heights with their two adopted kids Elijah and Natalie.
