Kim Dutro Allen & K. Todd Houston, PhD
The Telepractice Today podcast is an incredibly engaging and informative resource for anyone involved in the field of telepractice. Hosted by Dr. H. Todd Houston and Kim Dutro Allen, this podcast offers a wealth of knowledge and practical tips for professionals working in speech-language-hearing therapy through telepractice. As a newer Apple/iPad user, I stumbled upon this podcast and now I'm hooked! The hosts have a great connection and are skilled at asking thought-provoking questions that really dig deeper into each topic.
One of the best aspects of this podcast is how it covers a wide range of topics related to teletherapy. Each episode begins with current news related to teletherapy, which helps keep listeners up to date with the latest trends and developments in the field. The guest speakers interviewed on the show bring a wealth of knowledge and experience, providing valuable insights into various aspects of telepractice. Whether you're new to teletherapy or have years of experience, there's something for everyone in this podcast.
Moreover, the interviews on this podcast are filled with practical information that can be directly applied to practice. As an audiologist specializing in pediatric cochlear implants and Listening and Spoken Language, I found the interview with Shannon Sharma on Virtual Parent Sessions particularly interesting. The information shared translated to best practices and maximizing outcomes for children with cochlear implants. This podcast truly understands the importance of partnering with parents along each child's unique journey, which benefits not only the children but also therapists and educators.
While there may not be any glaring negatives about this podcast, one aspect that could potentially be improved upon is diversifying the range of topics even further. While they cover various aspects within teletherapy, it would be great to see episodes dedicated to specific populations or disorders as well. This would provide listeners with more specialized information that is directly relevant to their particular area of practice.
In conclusion, The Telepractice Today podcast is an invaluable resource for professionals in the field of teletherapy. Dr. Houston and Kim Dutro Allen have created a fantastic platform that combines research and practice, catering to both new and experienced telepractice providers. The engaging interviews, practical tips, and current news updates make this podcast a must-listen for anyone looking to enhance their skills and knowledge in the field of teletherapy. Keep up the great work!

My name is Stacey Mueller, and I have been in Education for 13-years and have taught in a few states and within various Special Education programs. I entered the Education world when moving with the Military proved to be difficult in the career world. I came to the realization while living in Germany that I needed a career that I could essentially move with me. I had always worked with children in some way, Learning Centers, Daycares, babysitting, etc. so why not become a teacher? Now that my husband has retired from the Military, we are in our forever home, our forever state, Alaska. We have three children, one who is in college, one in high school, and one in middle school. I'm currently a RISE (Reaching Independence through Structured Environments) teacher and have been for 5-years now in the Matanuska-Susitna Borough School District in Wasilla, Alaska. Within my classroom, we use multiple modes of communication (modified ASL, pictures/visuals, tactiles, AAC, gestures, vocalizations). We, the RISE team, seek communication from all our students along with Julia LaHue (SLP), who teaches/supports Language and Communication through a remote/teletherapy platform. My name is Julia LaHue. I am a Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) for the Matanuska-Susitna Borough School District (MSBSD). I have been an SLP for 13 years, and an SLP-A for 6 years. I have worked remotely for a total of 6 years, in person for the rest of the time. I have worked in home health, skilled nursing, rehabilitation centers, clinics, etc. I got my Bachelor's Degree from the University of Houston and my Master's Degree from Western Kentucky University. I have had the immense pleasure to work with Stacey Mueller and her team for the last 5 years. We have worked to help our students develop multiple means of communicating, to grow and adapt with them. ______________________ You can listen to this episode wherever you stream podcasts and at www.3cdigitalmedianetwork.com/telepractice-today-podcast ______________________ Feeling burned out? In 2018, I felt unsettled in my current role as an SLP. I asked God, "What should I do next?" and had no idea that God would lead me to start an online therapy company that would impact the lives of thousands of students every single year.
