The 2020 MTV #VMAs were on last night and Lady Gaga won 5 including Artist of the Year and Song of the Year! Gaga is also the first recipient of the TRICON award, which goes to someone being acknowledged for being an icon for over three decades.  In true Gaga fashion she came out on stage in a new outfit every time while sporting a different mask.  There were some amazing performances from Miley Cyrus,  this time swinging from a disco ball, Doja Cat who performed her song 'Say So' as well bringing home the moon person for Best New Artist! Ariana Grande- who joined Gaga on stage for 'Rain on Me', who also scored herself 3 awards. Canada's The Weeknd took home Video of the Year and Best R&B Video.  Bella Thorne is facing a lot of heat and has issued an apology to OnlyFans users after facing backlash from other users and subscribers. She made her debut on the subscription based website, breaking a record - earning $1 million dollars (USD) in her first day and reportedly bringing in more than $2 million overall.  Many of the people who subscribed are requesting refunds since they claimed she didn't hold up her end of the bargain by not posting a full nude photo like she allegedly advertised.  During the Controversy, OnlyFans quietly issued a $50 cap on pay per view messages and a $100 cap on tips, without warning or announcing any policy changes. OnlyFans also reportedly extended the timeline for payouts from seven days to 30 days in some countries. Many believe this change was due to the Bella situation although they made a statement saying “We can confirm that any changes to transaction limits are not based on any one user.” Bella apologized with a number of tweets saying,  “I wanted to bring attention to the site, the more people on the site the more likely of a chance to normalize the stigmas, And in trying to do this I hurt you.  I have risked my career a few times to remove the stigma behind sex work, porn, and the natural hatred people spew.. ...I am a mainstream face and when you have a voice, a platform, you try to use you in helping others and advocate for something bigger than yourself. Again in this process I hurt you and for that I'm truly sorry." Bella claims that she joined OnlyFans as part of a promotion for a new movie with Sean Baker, who directed The Florida Project. Sean is claiming this is not actually the case, setting the record straight saying,  “I would like to make it clear that the news of me making a film (documentary or fiction narrative) about OnlyFans and using Bella Thorne as research is false. I'm NOT attached to this project. I'm actually in development on two features that I've put years of research and love in to and neither of these films have anything to do with Ms. Thorne or Onlyfans.”  We found out over the weekend that actor Chadwick Boseman passed away after his long battle with colon cancer at the age of 43. The star of Black Panther was diagnosed in 2016 but it was not public knowledge.  Keke Palmer who was hosting the VMAs opened the show by dedicating it to him saying “He is a true hero, not just on screen but in everything he did. His impact lives forever." The Black Panther Soundtrack was also loved by many, and was nominated for multiple GRAMMYs. Adele is making headlines for a recent photo that many are calling culture appropriation. She is being calling out for wearing a Jamaican Flag Bikini and Bantu Knots that she wore as a tribute to Notting Hill Carnival.   Follow us  Twitter: https://twitter.com/iHeartRadioCA  Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/iheartradioca/  Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/iheartradioca  TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@iheartradioca

GUEST In the second take on the world of hip-hop, BrownTown goes international by inviting the podcast’s first featured music artist Fiendish AKA Junior AKA Kaiphobthawiphong to chop it up all the way from Bangkok, Thailand. Originally a DJ in high school, Fiendsh transitioned to creating his own content while at Columbia College Chicago. With similar stylings to J. Dilla, Madlib, Kanye West, and Mf Doom, Fiendsh has since released two EPs, Al Capone and Gold Pope. OVERVIEW Fiendsh and BrownTown discuss current mainstream releases, the cultural and media pieces they impact, and the broader socio-political context in which they are created. Over a year since part one, “Hip-Hop in the Age of Spin,” Fiendsh shares the origins of his name, his introduction into DJing, moving to Chicago for college, and the influence hip-hop has had in his life, his work, and his home country at-large. The gang sifts through the musical stylings, business acumen, and overall critique of album releases from GOOD Music, Drake, J. Cole , and Nas. As authenticity in hip-hop is and always has been an important and heavily contested theme, they unpack the cultural and critical relevance of Kendrick Lamar’s Black Panther Soundtrack as well as Cardi B’s rise to popularity. The latter includes a nod to Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s stunning New York Democratic house primary victory, noting a parallel between different yet unapologetic, strong Latina figures in different areas of public life. From appropriate and intentional track sampling to a viral video of the young woman aggressively rapping “Bodak Yellow” to her boyfriend, passion, purpose, and persistence illustrates that hip-hop is here to stay and reimagines what it can be. -- Find Fiendsh's music on his site as well as his Soundcloud and Bandcamp pages. Follow him on Facebook and Instagram. -- CREDITS: Intro music by Fiendsh. Outro song Everything by NAS ft. Kanye West and The-Dream. We listen all weekend to the recently released Black Panther Soundtrack and give credit where credit is due. With the mixture of R&B, West coast rap, amazing production.  This is a great addition to the upcoming theatrical release of the Black Panther Movie

Busby deciding to watch “The Godfather” saga for the first time proved to be perfect timing, as he and his iLLogical brother J.C. rundown a body count's worth of f*ckery that took place over the week! From the Patriots pulling a fast one on the Colts, Quincy Jones unloading the clip, and LeBron telling the entire Cavs locker room to get the f*ck out! The guys also discuss the 9-year anniversary of Drake's “So Far Gone,” review the Kendrick Lamar curated “Black Panther Soundtrack," debate the future legacy of TDE & Dreamville, and much more. It's an offer you can't refuse!

Black Pather is upon us and have been graced with one of the rare anticipated soundtracks to a movie.  TDE and Kendrick Lamar have full control over the direction of this soundtrack, tune in to hear what we thought!! We also had a special guest, Morenike, join us and she brings a new voice and needed perspective on the industry and the music.   Oh yea there was definitely some off topic conversations that led into a mini-review of the new Migos Culture 2 Album and conversations about fellow TDE artists Jay Rock, Ab-Soul, Schoolboy Q, SZA, and SiR.   Come for the comedy, Stay for the discussion!   If you enjoy this podcast please dont forget to subscribe, rate us and leave a comment to let us know how we are doing.  Peace!!   Instagram Instagram.com/micchecktbr Instagram.com/PhotosByTCain Instagram.com/man_vs_house Instagram.com/Niketyi  Twitter @micchecktbr twitter.com/micchecktbr   Music Intro/Outro music by @Fleslit https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/  http://freemusicarchive.org/music/Fleslit/Flex_Gang_-_Single/Flex_Gang Material edited for time.
