A recent study conducted in the U.K. found that paracetamol, a common, over-the-counter medication can have serious stomach, heart and kidney complications in senior citizens who take it repeatedly. Constant use of paracetamol was linked to a 24% risk of peptic ulcer bleeding, a 19% risk of chronic kidney disease and a 9% risk of heart failure. This is not the first time the overuse of paracetamol has been linked with adverse health effects but it continues to be a medication that is commonly bought and often used without strict consideration given to the dosage that is being consumed. What does paracetamol do to your body over the long term? How can you use it appropriately? Are drugs in India being used rationally or are they over prescribed and over consumed? They cover the importance of sun protection, good lifestyle habits, and how social media influences the way we see skin. They also discuss common skincare mistakes, must-have products, and how in-office treatments can help. The conversation highlights the need for personalized skincare routines and the benefits of seeing a board-certified dermatologist for the best results. Tune in to this week's podcast with Dr. Zain Husain as he breaks down what ‘healthy' skin really means, why it's important, and how to achieve it. He also covers common mistakes, his go-to procedures, and his top 3 takeaways for achieving healthy, glowing skin! Key Takeaways: - Healthy skin is defined by multiple factors, not just aesthetics. - Sun protection is crucial for preventing skin damage and disease. - Diet, antioxidants, and lifestyle choices significantly impact skin health. - Avoid following skincare trends blindly; consult a dermatologist for personalized advice. - Overusing products can harm the skin barrier; less is often more. - Essential skincare includes sunscreen, a good cleanser, and vitamin C serum. - In-office procedures can enhance skin health but should be approached conservatively. - Social media can create unrealistic beauty standards that affect self-esteem. - It's important to recognize that perfection in skin is not achievable or necessary. - Regular consultations with dermatologists can lead to better skincare outcomes. Free apps continue to dominate app stores, significantly outnumbering paid apps. But how exactly do these free apps manage to generate revenue without charging users? Let's explore the most effective monetization models that free app developers are using today:1. In-App AdvertisingAds remain the most common way for free apps to make money. There are various ad formats to choose from:Interstitial Ads: These full-screen ads appear at natural transition points within the app.Banner Ads: Displayed at the top or bottom of the app interface.Video Ads: Short video clips that users watch in exchange for rewards.Native Ads: Seamlessly integrated into the app's content.Rewarded Ads: Users voluntarily watch ads to earn in-app rewards.By integrating ad networks like Google AdMob, apps receive payment whenever users view, click, or install something from an ad. The key is to implement ads in a non-disruptive manner, such as showing them after a user completes a specific action. Relevant and high-quality ads enhance the user experience. When done right, ads require minimal effort and can yield substantial earnings.2. Affiliate MarketingIn the world of affiliate marketing, free apps earn commissions by referring users to select partner brands. Think of it as an influencer promoting products that align with their audience. Apps receive a percentage of sales or ad clicks resulting from their referrals. The beauty of affiliate marketing lies in its passive income potential. Apps don't need to develop products themselves; instead, they leverage existing brands. However, it's crucial to choose partners carefully to maintain user trust. Overusing affiliates can dilute app content, so striking the right balance is essential. Relevant brand promotions provide income while supporting the app's niche.3. In-App PurchasesMany free apps offer basic features while enticing users with in-app purchases. Here's how it works:A free photo editing app might limit certain effects or filters unless users pay to unlock the full suite of editing tools.Free games often use in-app purchases for character outfits, energy boosts, or additional levels. The advantage here is that users initially engage with free content, but they have the option to enhance their experience by making purchases. It's a win-win: users get a taste of what the app offers, and developers have the opportunity to monetize through upgrades.Remember, these strategies allow free apps to thrive while providing value to users. Whether it's ads, affiliate marketing, or in-app purchases, the key is finding the right balance between revenue generation and user satisfaction.

Does Your Social Media Make You Look Like a Bad Therapist? Curt and Katie chat about therapists putting out advice on social media. We look at how bad this advice can be and when it can even be harmful. We talk about what makes this advice bad and what to do instead.   Transcripts for this episode will be available at mtsgpodcast.com! In this podcast episode we talk about therapist influencers giving advice on social media We look at really bad relationship advice that seems to proliferate on social media by therapist influencers. Why is the advice oftentimes bad from therapists on social media? ·      Micro-validation of what clients are already believing about themselves or their partners ·      Lack of context and very specific related to your target client (but seen by all folks) ·      Focusing on the people around the person reading the post, rather than the reader themselves ·      Single posts that go viral or reach wider audiences may be misconstrued or taken out of context What is the potential for harm for the therapy profession? ·      Bad advice = bad therapist, which can be generalized to all therapists ·      Harmful advice can lead to harm in the wider population ·      Saying that you're speaking for all of mental health (when it is actually not grounded in the evidence base) ·      It is hard to distill nuanced information in very short timeframes What should therapists do to improve their social media posts? ·      Citing sources rather than standing out as a sole expert ·      Grounding self in the evidence base or recognized psychological knowledge ·      Talking to clients about what they can do, rather than how to judge the people around them ·      Designing the content to be engaging, but also tie back to longer form content that can have more nuance and context ·      Each post has to stand alone, with sufficient context ·      Identifying questions or considerations for folks to look at (versus definitive statements) What are the concerns with therapists being too limited with what they share on social media? ·      Not providing information that can help folks in abusive relationships ·      Coaches and “fake therapists” may be the only people in the space, putting out even worse advice What are the characteristics of very bad social media advice? ·      Rigidity in perspective ·      Equating hurt and abuse ·      Overusing pop psychology terms like “trauma bond” ·      Giving overarching, single tactic coping advice that can be harmful for many folks ·      Putting things very definitively, without nuance related Resources for Modern Therapists mentioned in this Podcast Episode: We've pulled together resources mentioned in this episode and put together some handy-dandy links. Stop Overusing Empathy: Balancing Empathy And Boundaries With Whitney Sullivan

Speakers Who Get Results

All good things have their limits. Even too much empathy can hurt us. In the world we live in, empathy has become more important than ever, especially for leaders. However, it is easy to fall into the trap of being too empathetic. This episode's guest sheds light on how to rethink empathy and find the balance between too much and enough. Elizabeth Bachman interviews leadership coach and keynote speaker, Whitney Sullivan, to talk about how to set boundaries, manage empathy, and identify where it is useful and where it is not. Whitney tells us about the struggles faced by many female leaders as they grapple with the societal pressure to be codependent and self-sacrificing. She then offers a new perspective to help us shift our mindsets on empathy when it comes to delegating, giving critical feedback, and even building relationships with your team. She helps us reel back from giving so much of ourselves that we get burnt out. This conversation reminds us of the importance of boundaries as leaders. That way, we thrive not only in our roles but also in helping our teams succeed.
