Since the Scary Stuff Podcast first started back in 2020, our love for the work of the late Keith Giffen has been mentioned time and time again. On the eve of the release of our prose superhero anthology WHERE LEGENDS WALK, which opens with a dedication to Keith, it felt like the right time to do an episode in memory of a creator whose work meant so much to us. For the first portion of this episode, we're joined by recurring pod guest (and brother of our host Jacob) Jeremiah Jones-Goldstein to discuss the 1987 DR. FATE mini-series from DC comics, pencilled by Keith Giffen and written by J.M. DeMatteis. Following that discussion, J.M. DeMatteis was kind enough to return to our podcast for an interview, talking about the 1987 mini and his memories of collaborating with Keith over many, many years. This portion begins at 01:05:48. Finally, we're delighted to be joined by first-time guest (but someone we've been hoping to chat with ever since the pod started) Brian Keene. In addition to chatting with us about his memories of Keith, we also discuss one of Keith's more horror-centric tales: "Chigger and the Man" from 1988's comic anthology TABOO. This portion begins at 02:00:45. We cannot thank our three guests enough for their time, and the resulting episode is really special to us. We very much hope you enjoy it. And as always, thanks so much for listening!

Charles Mayfield is the founder of Farrow Skincare, an animal-based skincare product that does not contain fillers, additives, and other harmful chemicals. Charles became fascinated by the benefits of lard on the skin when he made the connection between the biology of humans and pigs. Now, Charles is on a mission to bring lard-based skincare to the masses and convince people to throw away their toxic skin creams.Key topics discussed:- The benefits of cooking and consuming nutrient-dense, whole foods- The negative effects of modern lifestyle choices on physical health and how they can be reversed- The significance of using natural skincare products over conventional ones- The importance of understanding and improving metabolic health- The role of mental belief and positive mindset in the healing processTimestamps:(01:00) - The Bastardization of Pork in Media(02:00) - Historical Use of Lard and Tallow(05:00) - Modern Pig Breeding and Phenotypes(10:00) - Transition to Seed Oils and Fast Food Industry(12:00) - Skincare with Animal Fats(15:00) - Discussion on Sunscreens and Natural Alternatives(20:00) - Societal Health Decline and Reversal Opportunities*** SPONSOR ***CrowdHealth - They're providing an alternative to health care coverage in the form of a community-based approach. We've both used this service for the last two years. So, the next time you need any new strings, picks, microphones, recording gear, etc. make sure to use this link! Today is Sunday, April 30th, 2023 Carly and I are back with another new episode. Just go to the Support the Podcast tab at TheTroubadourPodcast.com and click on our Patreon link. Carly and I would be eternally grateful as we continue to try to keep our head above water with this thing. Today's guest is a country artist that calls New Mexico home. He's got a killer baritone voice and you can just tell he's the real deal. Will Banister was immersed in the music of Merle Haggard, Hank and George Strait at a young age and you can really hear those influences in his music. His popularity on Tik-Tok, Instagram and Facebook has grown by leaps and bounds in recent years in response to his no fluff, off the cuff and honest posts. Along with touring here he's toured Europe to great accolades and he's even had a song in a Clint Eastwood movie. He's a very humble down to earth guy when you're speaking to him, but when he gets on stage or in a studio his talent speaks for itself. For our Oklahoma listeners Will's gonna be playing at Chiggers in Broken Bow on Saturday, May 6th and he's got a bunch of dates scheduled in Texas including one at Cheatham Street Warehouse on Friday, May 19th. All his tour date and everything else Will Banister can be found by visiting willbanister.com. Links for this and much more will be found in the show notes for this episode. So let's get to it! Here comes Episode #173 of The Troubadour and our visit with a true country artist. Mr. Will Banister.
