aka Vermines (2023) It's episode 292…and are you interested in animals? Infested/Vermines (2023) tells the story of Kaleb, a young man with a passion for selling sneakers and buying bugs. Living in a multicultural melting pot of a tower block, his friendships have become strained following the death of his mother. Can he reconnect with his Jordy, his childhood best friend, and reconcile with his sister Manon? Anything is possible if you move forward with grace and acceptance. Oh, and he also bought a new spider and it's escaped. Probably fine. We talk about a genuinely horrific set of spiders doing spider-y things, rave about the best bathroom scene since Mandy, pull apart the potential of PPE and wonder whether an armed policeman shouldn't be more ‘yes and' in his approach to life. All that, and the question on everybody's lips - who would survive the spider tower best out of Batman, Spider-Man and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles? All of which leads to one question: How would you survive? Whatever happens, one thing's for sure: something that kills that fast is impossible. Next time on the main feed we're catching up with the 2024 horror on everybody's pale painted lips: Longlegs (2024).

It's time to jump into some French Horror of the Extreme variety and compare it to its United States Remake. The Court is in session for Martyrs (2008) v. Martyrs (2015). Though the movie was filmed in Canada the first film is considered a French film that has taken the film industry by storm when it released for being shocking and hard to watch. About a girl named Lucie who escapes her torturing kidnappers and exacts her revenge on the those who tormented her as a child with a friend that is willing to got to hell for her. It's a rough film for some, but we actually break it all down and Alex gets deep into the metaphors that the film might have within its depravity. Then we take on the US remake/re imagining that was one of the earlier films of Blumhouse and subsequently one of Jason Blum's biggest regrets on film. See what we thought of both and why. Bei Genrefilm-Fans fand natürlich die in diesem Zuge losgetretene New Wave of French Horror besonderen Anklang.

Hello Everyone & Welcome to Spooky Season! We are starting off on a quite macabre note: Le Teatre du Grand-Guignol in Paris. This was a theatre in the Pigalle section of Paris that catered to very graphic, realistic and gruesome plays. The theatre ran from the 1890s to the 1960s. We will discuss the history of the theatre, as well as the history of theatre in France at the time. We will also be covering various plays, writers, actors and recipes for the prosthetics and gore throughout the run of the theatre. Hey there, WoHo's!In our second episode, we explore the French/Canadian film"Martyrs", a classic in body horror/pain porn (but please don't call it torture porn, as Mom originally did). We walso watched the 2015 American remake so you don't have to. Wow. What happened there?Pascal Laugier, the director of the original, according to IMDB, has stated he was "Inspired by Hostel (2005), but instead of making a movie about suffering, he wanted to make a movie about pain". How very French, non?How do we properly classify this film? Is it actually two films in one? Is it akin to exploitation films of the 70's? Is it, in any way, a home invasion film? Some have stated it is a paradigm example of the New French Extremity movement, while others simply classify it as a body horror film. We'll get into it!At the suggestion of friend, friend of the show, and WoHo, Quinn M. has suggested, Mom and Mac introduce themselves and talk about what horror does for them individually and as a family. Thanks for listening! After yesterday's lengthy set-up about the role horror plays in our lives, especially extreme and disturbing horror, Matt revisits one of the few films to blind-side punch him and leave him shaken, Xavier Gens' Frontier(s). What he discovers is a well-crafted thriller with some feminist undertones, despite its relentless and unsettling onslaught of butchery. Part 2 of 2. Happy one year anniversary to Minki and Tracy as cohosts of this podcast and Happy New Year to all you OFS listeners! Or as the French say it, "Bonne année!" Take a trip back into horror film history as the hosts talk about how the French were a little behind other countries' horror output up until French film director, actor, novelist and pornography filmmaker Jean Rollin released a plethora of exploitation vampire-based films in the 70's and early 80's. This poetic film about the love between two females — one alive and one living dead, recently brought back to life by chemical waste spilling near her tomb — is probably his most notable and as Minki and Tracy agree: a decently entertaining film, if you're not put off by the obligatory nudity. Check out the episode and feel free to email with suggestions for movies to review in 2018!

Hi there.  This is the 191st episode of some show you were probably tricked into listening to by your emotionally unstable "friend" (you know, that person you hang around with because it makes you feel better about yourself).  Well, LIKE that "friend", we are a show that makes people feel better about themselves, simply by the vast ineptitude we emulate. And SPEAKING of "emotionally unstable", we are reviewing the fresh-to-(Direct TV)VOD film "Leatherface" for this week's episode.  While Luke and I generally loathe each other's very existence, one thing we DO agree upon is our love of French filmmakers Alexandre Bustillo and Julien Maury.  "Inside" and "Livide" are modern day classics, and while "Among The Living" was not quite AS good, it seemed like an appetizer for their first real-deal American film, "Leatherface".  How did it turn out?  Did they ruin our childhoods by daring to take a stab at yet another retelling of everyones favorite Texan cannibal family?  Well, listen to our reviews to see how it all turned out! Music On This Episode (In Order Of Appearance); “Tom Sawyer”-Rush “Dead Skin Mask”-Slayer

Tracy and Minki watched a porn on Mother’s Day...or so it seems. That’s right—these dedicated hosts ditched their moms to watch and discuss this Mexican horror. There is definitely lots of nudity, close-up shots of genitalia and graphic sex scenes in this unique film. Oh wait, there was also some murder and cannibalism, but definitely less of that in this art-house, surreal erotic horror. Nice camera and lighting work, mixed with a solid portrayal of a mad man who has a very strange desire to return to the safety and warmth of his mother’s womb (HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY!) should make up for the strange plot and excessively long scenes, but...not so much. For the most part, this movie doesn’t live up to its name...as a horror. Though, maybe the word “Flesh” was more indicative of all the nakedness. So, tune in to hear them recount this dreamlike, or rather, nightmarish movie.

Have you ever been so disgusted by a horror movie you passed out or vomited? Doubtful. But, apparently this cannibal, coming-of-age, horror drama made people do just that. So, Tracy and Minki had to make a trip to the theater and check it out. Given they got away without puking up their chicken tenders and tater tots, they think it was just PR, but they still enjoyed this french flick anyhow. They run through a bunch of movies that had the same reputation of needing a barf bag in lieu of a popcorn bag and they both share a couple of movie scenes that, at the very least, left a personal memory of total discomfort for them. So, if you don’t like reading subtitles and/or if you don’t think you can watch a young girl eat raw meat, take a few bites out of a couple people, or get her bikini waxed from a very close view, you should probably just listen to the hosts talk about it all instead. And if you don’t want them to spoil it, go check out this beautifully directed movie first and then come back and share in the discussion. Have an opinion about the movie...episode...podcast...Minki’s voice? Write us! NEXT WEEK: Dumplings, which is the first recommendation by a fan!
