Ron Williams life began in Montana. The son of alcoholic parents, he found himself alone and unsupervised most of his young life. He describes how he felt uncomfortable with the mainstream kids. At 12 he spent the night in an adult drunk tank. At 13 he stole his first car. The only love and belonging he felt through his youth was one summer he spent at a youth ranch where momentarily he felt love belonging and security. Ron learned to run at an early age. He ran away from home, from the law, from anything that was difficult. That trend continued for many years. In and out of prison 6 times he found himself getting old and tired of running. Finally with the support he has found at The Other Side Academy, he has stopped running, found value in his life and learned to face his demons. His story of triumph over a lifetime of pain is one you will want to hear. In episode 69, Chris and Emma talked with Lian Brook-Tyler, shamanic healer, teacher of unity, podcaster, and co-founder of the Be Mythical podcast. In this rich and wide-ranging conversation, we dive into the intersections of mysticism, neurodivergence, spirituality, transformation, and awakenings—connecting these profound experiences to Dabrowski's theory of positive disintegration. We explore:* How neurodivergence can shape mystical and spiritual experiences.* The connection between shamanic practices, inner work, and positive disintegration.* The importance of doing the work of inner transformation and embracing the unknown.* The parallels between psychological and spiritual frameworks in understanding human development.Lian's mythical journey truly began when she was ruptured open to Spirit with the sudden death of her father—which led to her mysteriously recovering from 15 years of chronic pain, panic attacks and anxiety. That inexplicable transformation inspired her to leave a leadership role in the corporate world to immerse herself in discovering what creates pain and struggle, and conversely, how to create a life overflowing with love, magic, beauty and truthLian also shares how her work at Be Mythical, together with co-founder Jonathan Wilkinson, supports old souls and visionaries on initiatory journeys of self-discovery, using myth and ancient wisdom to find purpose and truth. Their work, Be Mythical, is an alchemy of ancient ways for modern days. It weaves together eclectic wisdom teachings and natural traditions such as rewilding, magic and animist spirituality, embodiment, and self-illumination into a soul-led, heart-centred, sovereign path of reclaiming your wildness, actualising your deepest gifts, to live fully and die complete. Here is the Tree of Life image Lian discussed during the episodeLinks from this episodeBe Mythical websiteBe Mythical podcastBe Mythical episodes we mentioned:* “Over-excitability”: A more truthful and constructive perspective on neurodivergence? DOING THE WORK, NO MATTER WHAT. On this episode of the Came to Believe Recovery Podcast, Monty and Tom discuss the essential work involved in recovery, emphasizing the importance of taking actionable steps rather than merely abstaining from substances. They explore the uncomfortable truths that come with making amends and the necessity of facing difficult situations head-on. Through personal anecdotes, they illustrate the concept of 'doing the work no matter what' and how it applies to relationships and personal growth in recovery. In this conversation, they explore the complexities of friendships, personal growth, and the challenges of recovery. They discuss the importance of accountability, the consequences of not doing the necessary work, and the struggle to avoid judgment while supporting others in their recovery journey. The dialogue emphasizes the significance of communication, compassion, and the impact of relationships on personal development and recovery. We talk all the time about why you need to do the work…but what happens AFTER you do the work? One of my long-time clients, Ashley LaButte, is here to share her story. From realizing something needed to change, to committing herself to actually DOING THE WORK, to finally manifesting something she's been working for years to manifest…her story truly displays how f*cking beautiful your life can get when you actually commit to doing the thing. You can't just throw money or intention at something and expect it to work. You have to show up for yourself…or nothing's ever going to change for the better. If you're just fine with your life the way it is now, then I want you to ask yourself this… Are you really fine with life being “fine?” Does “fine” feel like all you're meant for? I think I know the answer. Voice Of GO(r)D brings you an interview I gave to Oliver Bateman of  Oliver Bateman Does the Work at his now defunct podcast project with Aimee Terese, What's Left? That show had a great run, and along the way Oliver did a series of interviews on ‘Doing The Work', where he would talk to regular people with regular jobs, and I was quite chuffed to be the first interview of that series. This discussion was recorded in November of 2020, and was probably amongst the first half a dozen or so interviews I have ever given, so my apologies if I don't sound polished or even prepared for such a thing … not that my presentation has improved any in the ensuing four years; ‘Voice Of GO(r)D' as a title for the show is nothing if not self referential humor at my own expense. In the interview, I discuss my family history in the trucking business, and many of the problems in the industry, themes of which you will recognize as threads through all of my work since. The industry seems to have only become worse, but we can't make trucking better if we don't talk about the problems facing it, even if they seem intractable. Every starter -- led by Mackenzie Holmes -- contributed a big performance, and the bench stepped up as well.Honestly, it's just a fun, free-wheeling, happy postgame show. For those of you longtime listeners, it may remind you a bit of the early years for ... a variety of reasons. ;-) But man, it's just a fun conversation about a damn fun basketball game to watch between two damn good teams. And that felt good again. See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Episode two is about DOING THE WORK y'all! And that means slowing down, decentring yourself, centring the community, challenging the status quo and constantly reflecting on your organisational structures and being open to your blind spots. This conversation flits between Watershed Centre for the Ceramic Arts in northern rural Maine and Black Hound Clay Studios in Philadelphia. And whilst the concerns of rural v city are obviously specific and different, the ideas that underpin how to run these spaces are not so. They are both heavily invested in building community through education, providing spaces for those who can't access higher ed, and the importance of place and making people feel welcome and like they belong. What emerged many times during this trip was the idea of administration as an act of care and as a container for creative practice. That the labour involved in running these spaces was as important as the work that was created in them. Within that is a shift in the idea of learning, away from short term, once-accessed exam-based institutions, and towards a life-long embedded practice, creating places people can access throughout their lives. Obviously financing this is a massive issue, but we touch on that too – ever thought of sliding scale financing? Redistribution? Mutual aid? This episode is all about how we can do things better, and the importance of having a reflexive practice as an organisation, to ensure that you serve the entirety of your community, not just the ones who can pay. Contributors:Black Hound Clay Studio https://www.blackhoundclay.com/Watershed Centre for the Ceramic Arts https://www.watershedceramics.org/Clay Commons was written and produced by Eva Masterman, editing supported by Travis Roush. Have you set any new year's resolutions lately? Are you going through a series of changes? New birthday? Massive life change? New family addition? Work changes or challenges?I've been there, and I can empathize as well as relate. In many cases, a new year will look exactly like the previous year if you don't make changes and achieve your goals. In most cases, a past goal or desire will remain a goal or desire weeks, months, or even years from now if you don't make changes and achieve your goals. I think you may see the pattern here. But regardless of the reason or the ignition to acknowledge a change or even pursue a change or declare a goal, if one does not take action in the pursuit and possess the discipline to see it through, nothing will ever happen, no change will occur, and nothing will be accomplished. So instead of beating around the bush, let's talk about it. Let's sit in that sunken place, in that void, at those crossroads and discuss what our options are, what we can do, and how to begin to make dreams into reality and actions into accomplishments. Beyond The Episode Gems:Grow Your Business Faster Using HubSpot's CRM PlatformClick Here For Free HubSpot Marketing ToolsSee all of the podcasts on the HubSpot Podcast NetworkReady to delegate to accelerate?
